We believe a visit for an annual exam was incorrectly billed to our medical insurance, not our vision insurance, resulting in a larger co-share for us. We called the office without any resolution, and wrote a letter asking that they resubmit this correctly, or we would be leaving the practice. They haven't called nor resolved the billing issue - and seem okay losing a long-timer client (10 years), and a longish-time client (5 years). I thought I would write this review since on my last visit, before I had even seen Dr Kraft, one of the techs asked me to write a review on some platform (maybe this one).

When I gave myself a gnarly corneal abrasion causing terrible discomfort, my wife (who is a patient…read morehere) told me I should give them a call to have it checked out. Thankfully they were able to fit me in that same day and I saw Dr. Vinh, who diagnosed my abrasion and immediately alleviated my discomfort with numbing drops and a contact lens bandage over my cornea, prescribing me antibiotic drops to take to prevent an eye infection. Long story short I leaned the very hard way that I am allergic to a specific type of antibiotic eye drop (which for the record Dr. Vinh said was quite rare) and my eye swelled up and became badly inflamed overnight, causing me to return the next day and see Dr. Perry, who took great care of me and gave me steroid drops to bring down the inflammation. A day later and my eye was as good as new, and I saw Dr. Vinh again who gave me a clean bill of health. Simply put, I could not have been in better hands than I was with NOVA Vision Center. The professionalism and care that I experienced from the receptionists to the techs to the doctors was second to none. These folks are good at what they do, they truly care about their patients, and it shows. I now look forward to making them my new eye care place in the future, hopefully next time under better circumstances! :)

An Indian lady added a bunch of options, bringing the total to a ridiculous $500. Who pays $500 for non-prescription lenses when the frame isn't even included?????!!! I refused and told her to remove the unnecessary extras because I only wanted BASIC BLACK SUNGLASS!!! (I told her so many times that I just wanted basic black sunglasses! lol) She insisted that I still needed an anti-reflective and anti-fog coating, so I agreed to pay an extra $90 for that, bringing the adjusted total to $250. still so expensive... Guess what I actually got? SHE REMOVED THE TINT ENTIRELY, and I ended up with CLEAR glass???!!! So Crazy!!! And, I have no idea why she would even recommend an anti-reflective coating on a non-prescription, clear lens after she removed the tint. lol.. Does this woman completely lack common sense? Does she not know the basic definition of a sunglass? Hey, the Indian lady!!! Sunglasses have a tint!!!!!!!! She completely confused the order by adding SO MANY UNNECESSARY OPTIONS, and now she is blaming me and yelling at me, claiming that I miscommunicated. lol To make matters worse, when my friend and I confronted her about the mistake, she was incredibly rude, took zero accountability, and actually yelled at us, claiming I miscommunicated. Buying a car would probably be easier than buying glasses at NVDOC. The store feels like it has two…read morecompletely different sides. The staff in the front of the store are focused heavily on selling glasses, while the professionals in the back who conduct the eye exams were courteous and did a good job. The problem came after my eye exam. Once my new prescription was determined, I expected to receive a copy of it so I could decide where I wanted to purchase my glasses. Instead, the prescription was immediately sent to the front desk. When I made it clear that I did not intend to purchase glasses there, I became concerned about the prescription I was ultimately provided and whether it accurately reflected the results of my examination. The prices for glasses at NVDOC were substantially higher than what I could find online, which made the experience even more frustrating. A customer should be able to receive an accurate copy of their prescription and shop wherever they choose without feeling pressured into purchasing glasses from the office. The eye-care professionals themselves were good, but the overall experience at the front of the store left me extremely disappointed. I would recommend getting a copy of your prescription and having it independently verified before purchasing glasses elsewhere. Based on my experience, I would not return to NVDOC.

When they came in, the lenses were made incorrectly and looked all warped. I went back, worked with the technician to figure out the issue but he was stumped on the problem, and submitted a request to rework the lenses. 3 weeks later I came back again, but they were still made wrong. I was told I needed to come back only when Ben, the initial tech, was in. The Tech apologized, looking at my chart of how the issues had developed and said that he would add a 30% discount on my next purchase. I scheduled time with the initial tech for today, but when I arrived, he was out at lunch. The receptionist rudely told me I could wait 45 minutes to see him if I wanted to. I asked to leave a note, just so that he could call me and she said "sure" and never took down any of my info, just decided there were other things on her desk more important. I then asked her for a refund on the glasses, expressing that I had come back multiple times to try to fix this issue but its an hour round trip drive from me and I have to get child care arranged every time to move this along. She gave me a blank stare, when I asked questions about how a refund would be processed, and just said that the technician would call me back to discuss. The technician called back an hour later just to let me know that a refund was on the way. Nothing else, no apologies that they messed up my lenses, or the time wasted trying to fix. I truly am a very patient person and I understand mistakes happen - I just wanted to be treated like a human, and not discarded because I expected my glasses to be functional. I think this Optometrist group NVDO is so large now, they don't really care about any one patient - if you aren't an easy case to process, they'll waste your time and give you a run around until you ask for a refund and leave.
