Highly do NOT recommend. 1. The doctors are not the same anymore! Keeping only 1 doctor to show up once a month and acting like it is the same clinic is not right, actively confusing patients. 2. New management is all about money! Pay pay pay. Even with insurance. Make sure you double check AGAIN, or else, they may have worked with your insurance in the past, that does NOT mean, this new management is in the list. 3. Plan to spend 30 more mins. The original doctors did NOT sell your data to them, which is awesome. If you are like me, showed up without knowing everything and everyone changed, you will spend half an hour filling up endless paperwork and they don't bother tell you this beforehand intentionally, cause they don't want you to know it is different people took over the old-name. They just wanna continue getting the clients without disclosing the change. 4. Terrible service! Will treat you like an idiot and all the high-tech checkup is not anymore. Just go a different clinic, there are so many around. No need to stress with poor service, bad treatment and uncomfortable environment. read more

Great eyecare by Dr. Goldberg and his team. Dr. Goldberg is an outstanding practitioner. He explains and teaches you about your eyes. He is meticulous, professional, and listens to your concern. He is a great communicator with years of experience and knowledge beyond any other optometrist that I have been to ... The staff is very efficient and knowledgeable about insurance claims in a friendly, warm, and welcoming manner. They are fast in doing their job with expertise and precision explaining any questions that you might have in a friendly and upbeat way. Highly recommend, check them out. read more

I went to this office last year so this review is long overdue. I am reviewing now because I just found the receipts where they billed me and my husband $638 for our annual exam. I also noticed similar trends/similar experiences of other patients so felt it my duty to include mine. The reception was a little impatient when I called in to book an appointment to look at available dates for Dr. Goldberg. In-person, all the receptionists seemed annoyed when we tried talking to them so my husband and I didn't feel very comfortable in the waiting area. At the conclusion of the exam, they advised us that they didn't take our vision insurance. This was a little upsetting, considering I had to fill out a form and provide them my insurance *before* they conducted the examination. It would have been nice to be informed that they didn't accept my insurance beforehand but since we were already there, I suppose they didn't want to lose out on earnings. We were billed a total of $638 for an annual exam ($319 each), which we paid out of pocket. No, I assure you that this did not include digital retinal screening or other advanced forms of technology. It was your typical vision exam. Considering the customer service and how average the examination was, I do not feel this merited the exorbitant price point. Although Dr. Goldberg was not involved in the incidents I mentioned above, I do still hold him accountable since this is his practice. The onus is on Dr. Goldberg to ensure that his staff are not lacking in integrity or alienating customers but it could also suggest that this type of behavior trickles from the top down. Today was my first time at McLean Eyecare Center and it was a phenomenal experience. I've worn glasses/contacts for 18 years and have been to many different practices and this was by far the best. I needed a new prescription for contacts quick and they fit me in with no appointment in 10 minutes. Jason the Optometric Assistant was hilarious and got me through the tests quick and helped me find options for rebates to get my contact price lower than I've ever seen! Dr. Darvish was so kind and walked me through everything and explained all the procedures and my personal health of my eyes and options for contacts so simply to understand I'm floored than no other eye doctor has ever told me why my vision is the way it is!! Dr. Goldberg is the most amazing eye doctor ever! Too bad he put the dilation stuff in my eyes before I could read all his awards, but it looks like he has the key to the city on his wall... I think it's well deserved! He takes his time to see how your eyes are regardless of whether it's a big payday or not (I have been to some eye doctors who don't care about you unless you are making them big insurance $$ from "bad eyes.") Dr. Goldberg gave me the full spectrum of eye tests and explained everything along the way. Best eye doctor on EARTH! THE GALAXY! His staff is amazing! They do their job and they do it very professionally without getting too overly friendly. Fantastic!!! I had gone to myEyeDr for almost a decade because of the convenience factor -- but was disillusioned after my most recent visit. I wanted to try some place new (thought I might prefer an independent office vs. corporate entity) and found that McLean Eyecare Center was in network for me. The staff was helpful from scheduling to billing (including resolving a few annoying insurance issues), getting through the exam quickly, providing great explanations of everything, and staff who really know how to help select the best set of frames. They're fine for regular eye care but apparently think covid is a hoax. The receptionist was not wearing a mask when I got in. He apologized and put it on, and then not 5 minutes later, it was off again. Two other employees were wearing theirs under their noses. All I wanted was my glasses fixed today, but I was so anxious that I left and waited in the car. Once my glasses are fixed I will not go back. read more

If you need to get a pair of glasses, don't go this place. Their selection is very limited, and way over priced, and the sales tactics is trying to get the best out of you. But if you just need an eye exam, Dr. Goldburg is great. It's pity that these two are the opposite poles. read more

I had an eye appt with Dr. Goldberg today. He's been my eye doctor for the past 3 years. Arrived 15 minutes early and a patient arrived after me at about 2:15 - which was my appointment time. She was told that she'd have to wait till after his 2:15 PM (me) and she said fine. Dr. Goldberg had an emergency appointment that he wrapped up with at 2:45 PM. When he came out the receptionist told him he had two patients waiting at which time he turned to me to say that he'd have his technician start with me while he saw his follow up patient. I had only an hour off from work and asked him how much longer I would be at my appt with him given he was not 30 minutes late for my appointment. He seemed to not know he was running behind and then got flustered with me and after going back and forth with me in a raised voice went on to finally say that he's not a clairvoyant and couldn't tell me how much longer I'd be there. Instead of wait for him, I decided to reschedule with the other doctor there whom I was told Dr. Goldberg trained rather than wait. After leaving I decided that Dr. Goldbergs disrespectful and unprofessionalism was a side of arrogance I'd like to never see again his trainee included. I called back and spoke to Tammy who witnessed the exchange and apologized. She said she hoped there was something they could do to make it right, and in turn I asked her to email me my exam and prescription records. Shame on Dr. Goldberg for speaking out of turn to a patient, doing so loudly in the reception area and thinking said patient would let him within 6 feet of her eyes. read more

Outstanding service! Went here despite seeing mixed reviews on the yelp page prior and the service was top notch. I worked with both doctors on staff for my eye exam and they were both wonderful, informative, and kind. The entire staff was great. To the lady who gave the business a one-star because somebody answered the phone on a level of excitement less than hers...she should be ashamed. We had eye consultation regarding CRT lenses , and it's about 15 mins without any examination and they charged us for $45 ! Without telling us in advance that it's not a free consultation nor our insurance is not accepted there. Plus the glass consultation old lady was not with nice attitude , maybe they wanted to get off work sooner? I went in for an irritated contact and still have an irritated contact. A prescription change does not fix an irritated eye with scleral contact lenses. Not good for scleral contact lens wearers. They don't have the time. Scleral lens wearers require more appointment time and follow up. I found another doctor who told me what the issue is. I just have to wait for my insurance to start over. read more

I have used the McLean Eyecare Center for years. They are extremely knowledgeable; you can trust their evaluations. I know because I have some difficult eye problems and have worked both with the McLean Eyecare center and my ophthalmologist. This is an awful place. Never go here. I went here for a regular eye exam last year. I didn't plan on going back. But they started spamming me and leaving SO MANY voice mails saying that they scheduled my appointment this year and I will have to call them back to cancel. When I called back immediately, they didn't pick up. I had no such experience with any doctors office before and was so annoyed that I blocked their number. Today I got a letter that they are charging me 50 dollars for missing an appointment. What a terrible practice! This is like those cheap gyms that would never let you go except in this case I didn't sign up for any membership of sort. They should be really ashamed. read more

I visited Dr.Goldberg today and I just want to confirm tht the reviews about Dr.Goldberg are absolutely accurate.He has very deep knowledge about vision and also has the amazing ability to pass on his knowledge to you. He explained to me the functions and properties of the ciliary muscle in such a simple way that I it has almost changed my every assumption about the ciliary muscle.I also understand astigmatism much better than I did before. I am very happy with him and I he would be my optometrist for as long as I am in this area.I totally recommend him. read more

I actually like Dr. Darvish, what I didn´t like was the price that they charged for a contact lenses! The difference from another places was absurd and the contact lenses never arrived! After more than 1 month waiting, I cancelled the order because they claimed that the contact lenses I ordered didn´t exist on the market anymore, which I discovered shortly after it was a lie and the lenses arrived in five days at my place! Also, they charged me a "fitting of contact lenses" that I didn´t do it, or maybe they charged me $175 for "free samples". Although, they apologize for the inconvenient and offered a discount on another purchase, everything that happened was just disappointing. read more

I saw Dr. Goldberg on 7/1/2011. I have been to several optometrists over the years, but was pleasantly surprised by Dr. Goldberg and his staff, all of whom were unusually pleasant to work with. Dr. Goldberg patiently listened as I explained my eye problems and very thoroughly tested my vision capabilities more than the other optometrists I've seen in the past. He has a spectacular "bedside manner" and is also very knowledgeable about the things I asked him about. His staff is also similarly efficient and professional. Before going in, I found out he was awarded the 2009 Optometrist of the Year. I'm pretty cynical about that sort of award, but in my estimation it was richly deserved. I think he does possibly take walk-ins but they are sometimes booked up so they can't take that business on every time. read more

Loved the doctors here and the eye exams are very thorough. It's a great office but the woman who helps you pick glasses was a bit abrasive in an "I know what's best you clearly don't" kind of way. She also tried to add on a bunch of different additions to my glasses. It was almost bossy. I hate degrading the review to three stars because all of the other office staff was wonderful but the woman working was just rude. read more

Excellent service, extremely thorough exam. I am new the NOVA area and needed to find a place for my annual eye exam and glasses/contacts. Based on a internet research and proximity to my office I selected McLean Eyecare Center and Dr. Helene Strassman. What a great decision! Facility is very clean and modern inside despite the dated outward appearance of the building. I arrived 15 minutes early and after filing out new patient paperwork was immediately taken back for exam. Dr. Strassman spent well over a 1/2 hour with me discussing contact options and glasses. Glasses prices were very reasonable with a wide selection of styles. Overall a very positive experience and highly recommended. read more

I'm really confused about the mixed reviews for this place. I've been a patient for the past five years and have never received any less than the best care. I've got nothing but good things to say and so much of it that I honestly don't know where to start! In this day and age where doctors are pressured to get as many patients in and out in the name of profits, this place is so refreshing! I've been coming her for years but since Dr. Goldberg's schedule was booked solid and my eyes were in excruciating pain, I said I would see anybody. I was a bit apprehensive because Dr. Goldberg is amazing and I was sure that anybody else would simply pale in comparison. Fortunately for me, this place has THE highest standards. Dr. Darvish is equally as amazing as Dr. Goldberg! I have had so many issues with my eyes lately. The excruciating pain turned out to be an eye infection but under Dr. Darvish's care, the pain went away within 24 hours. Additionally, due to this infection, I couldn't wear glasses for several days. The only problem was that I didn't have glasses. However, Dr. Darvish and their glasses team got me a pair of back up glasses in 2 hours! Yes, another plus is that you can get glasses onsite. Additionally, Dr. Darvish is currently and ever so patiently working with me to get me the right pair of contact lenses. I have dry eyes and they get mucus build up after wearing contacts for a while (seriously, so many eyes issues but not at all due to this amazing place). And yet, it gets better. What I love so much is that both these optometrists don't just treat symptoms, they diagnose! They truly take the time to talk to you to figure out the cause of the issue. They actually care and you know it's genuine. Their staff is also wonderful. Thanks to both doctors for being such stellar professionals and, in general, wonderful human beings! read more

Excellent care and service! Dr. Goldberg is exceptional and very caring. My daughter has been a patient for the past 6 years and I couldn't be any happier with his bedside manners, his knowledge and patience. He takes his time with patients, explains every detail, and is very thorough during exam. He has very friendly and caring attitude that's very rare these days. I had an emergency myself once, when a tiny grain got embedded in my eye. Dr. Goldberg and his staff found time in their busy schedule to help me out. Dr. Strassman is the same - very knowledgable and caring. Their staff members know their patients by names. Jason is extremely friendly and goes above and beyond to accommodate patients requests. Ms. Sheila and Ms. Charlotte will make sure that patients are happy. My teen daughter is very picky with the fitting, and Ms. Sheila is always very patient with her and makes sure my daughter is happy. I can't recommend this Center enough. The best! read more

I have been a patient of McLean Eye Care since 1982. Even though I moved from the McLean area 5 years ago I keep coming back to Dr. Goldberg for the annual exam. He has an enormous amount of patience to work with me to find the best (and most affordable) contact lenses for my severe astigmatism. I highly recommend him. read more

I just found good reviews on this place are all quite dated. Recently our daughter went to check her eyes there and it's some staff who did her eye exam with Dr. Strassman came in the end to give some advice. Not sure if customers are still treated directly by Dr. Strassman or Dr. Goldberg and if that is really what matters. Dr. Goldberg was the absolute WORST. I saw Dr. Goldberg for basic reading glasses. After two exam visits, he ordered a prescription that didn't work for me at all. They resent out a new prescription and when I picked them up, they had ordered the wrong prescription again. The attendant realized the mistake, apologized profusely, and asked that we try again. I went to pick them up for the third time, and they still didn't work. When I spoke to the doctor, he didn't want to refund the exam. He spoke at me and didn't let me speak. When I spoke, he hung up on me (or the phone was conveniently disconnected). I immediately called back and the office said "he left for the day". Dr. Goldberg is extremely **unprofessional** and he was unsuccessful providing me adequate glasses for basic reading. read more
