Good customer service, they've always gone the extra mile to try to help me out when I needed a rush job or a repair.

Super helpful staff and gorgeous selection of eye glass frames. A++ for customer service.

Well, I tried to shop local but it's just not happening. Be aware that they want to charge you almost $50 to be your frame 'stylist' . Not a place for those who are perfectly comfortable knowing what they like for fit and style without the staff help. Thankful there are plenty of opticians in the area that don't require appts or a hefty fee to browse their wares. The covid excuse is pretty lame, honestly. read more

We couldn't be more thrilled to have found MacPherson Opticians for our baby's first pair of glasses ever! Due to her long eye lashes and small nose, we needed tomatoes! How awesome are these? Everyone was so great and we trust the safety precautions they put into place with covid. read more

I've been coming here for over 30 years, since I was a child and I've always had a great experience. You get to know the staff so well over the years that they always accommodate you for your style and certain aspects you looking for in your eye ware. I love working with Kate and Jacquline every time I come in. The rest of the staff are great too. I could never imagine going to another place. With Covid concerns, everything is appointment only. You must book by phone call. If you want information look at their website. read more

MacPherson Opticians are fantastic experts for all things glasses and lenses! They know their craft extremely well in terms of the products, options, measurements, and adjustments. I bought some new lenses from MacPherson Opticians and they are fantastic. As someone who relies on their glasses and wears them for the vast amount of my waking hours, I felt investing in some good lenses would have incredible value and MacPherson Opticians did not disappoint. My lenses and my frame are fantastic, where I can now see clearer and more comfortably than before. You can't compare the quality and expertise of MacPherson Opticians to any online glasses shop or most optometrist sales section. MacPherson Opticians has their own lab on site where they craft many of their lenses. These folks are true professionals! In terms of COVID precautions, you need to setup an appointment and then they will preemptively wipe everything down and then let you in to talk with an optician. All staff were wearing masks and all customers are wearing masks. It felt very safe inside. MacPherson Opticians is highly recommended! They are a little expensive, but you are paying for quality and expertise--and they are definitely worth it! Your vision is one of your most important senses--shouldn't you be investing to have it be its best? read more

I've been a grateful customer of MacPherson Opticians for two decades now. I don't tolerate changes in refraction easily and for years struggled to find an eye doctor and optical service provider who could take care of my vision needs without repeated visits to both to double-check and adjust my prescriptions. The large chain stores that dot our area were fine when all I needed were glasses for reading, but progressive lenses after I turned 40 were a nightmare. Finally, in desperation, I turned to MacPherson Opticians after Washington Consumers' Checkbook listed them as one of the most highly rated service providers for eyewear in Northern Virginia. They were a lifesaver. They recommended an ophthalmologist who has consistently given me accurate prescriptions each time I'm tested on the first visit without my having to return. The very first progressive lenses I purchased from MacPherson's worked like a charm. The kind and quality of lenses they have suggested over the years have worked perfectly for me. I've recommended them to many friends, and all have been happy with the results. Best of all, the opticians I've met at MacPherson are delightful human beings. They're warm and engaging and have a great sense of humor. They also have very good taste in glasses and have helped me look my best as the years have taken their toll. I consider them friends and give them top marks in every category. read more

Very good service. Nice people and knowledgeable. Very expensive lenses relative to other opticians. Nice range of frames but not many under $300-400. read more

Visiting from outside the area, I was frustrated when a screw on my eyeglass loosened. Unable to work or drive a car without glasses, life had come to a standstill because of a tiny screw. Without an appointment and just before closing, I explained by dilemma to the doctor at McPherson Opticians. Ten minutes later he returned with my repaired glasses earning my respect and appreciation. A friend in need, is a friend indeed. read more

Personable, professional and caring staff. Nice selection of frames too. Convenient location. read more

Service here is untouchable. After my yearly exam it was off to find my latest frames. As always, Maria spent the time to find the perfect frames and get me all setup for my progressive lenses. Seeing well is obviously the first priority but Thanks to Maria and the MacPherson team - I not only will be seeing better now, I'll be looking better in my new stylish frames. Fantastic visit as always - can't recommend highly enough! read more

Finally found a place that really understands getting the right lens and frames Knowledgable fun staff. They really help find what's right for you!! I had a great experience so much so I went back and bought 2nd pair. You pay for what you get and I got great service. Thanks read more

I stopped in a few weeks ago to get my glasses adjusted and to look around to possibly fill the new Rx I had just received. The store was empty--no customers. Well, I was told that since I had not purchased my glasses there they couldn't adjust them. I had purchased the glasses I was wearing at a store near my office in downtown D.C. I have never been told that an optical shop would not fix my glasses if I had not purchased them there. After this happened, I remembered that several years ago i stopped in at MacPherson when my son was younger and had his glasses knocked off during a basketball game and they charged me for the adjustment--no new parts, just to move the bent frames around. I guess that's what they mean when they advertise their "personalized" service. I will never stop again. read more

The only reason it's not five stars is because I can't get my contacts here. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and personable. I have not bought eyeglasses here yet but I will when I'm ready. They have turned me onto a new type of product that involves magnets in the lenses so you can just put on computer readers or sunglasses without changing frames. The price is very reasonable, based on my experience. One note: I went to them to get frames adjusted that I didn't buy there. They tried the first two times but on the third time** they said they had a new policy that they couldn't adjust any frames they hadn't made there because someone's glasses had just broken (always a risk) and they were no longer willing to assume liability for frames that they couldn't replace on site. The optometrist was clearly crushed that she couldn't help me. So much so that her lack of ability to help me was actually what moved me to write them this good review. I will definitely be back. **I had to go back three times not because they don't know what they're doing but because the problem was with the nose and I had to wear the glasses for several days after each adjustment to determine if they were fixed or not. read more

I have been buying eyewear for forty years. My best experience ever: Macpherson Optical. Fabulous service, great selection and professional, yet fun staff. I'll never go anywhere else. Really. read more

I had an excellent experience the other day picking out my new glasses at MacPherson Opticians. I worked with Jackie and she did a fabulous job helping me select just the right frames. I normally feel overwhelmed when I walk into a shop like this and see walls of frames to choose from. Jackie did all the work for me: she patiently selected various frames that worked for my face and went back for more based on my initial reactions. I was out of there within an hour and the whole experience was anxiety-free. The prices are not cheap, but then again you get what you pay for. I also love the idea of supporting a local business in my community. My husband also came here to get new lenses and new sunglasses, and both of his experiences were very positive as well. read more

I am now at an age where progressive lenses are a requirement for me and I had a pair made last year by one of the franchise optical companies. Well, I just wanted to put a review here noting that the pair that I had made this year by MacPherson is so far superior to those of the chain, that there is hardly a comparison. I think the knowledge of the staff and the time they take to work with you to ensure a proper fitting contributed greatly to my success with my new glasses. The staff is both knowledgeable and friendly. They have a huge selection of frames and allow you sufficient time to figure out which of the many frames you have to select from works best for you. I cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

Relied on them for many years for glasses for myself and three other family members because of the excellent service and assistance in selecting frames and choosing the options we needed, and accepted the fact of their high prices. However, we have come to realize that the support stops there. We seldom need to go in for adjustments, but whenever we do, we find the staff to be defensive and blaming us the customers for frames going out of adjustment, whining about the amount of time they had to spend to make an adjustment, and then assessing a cost we must pay for the adjustment. We will use another optician. read more

Best frame selection ever! Not cheap, but great value. Don't take insurance, so that is a pain. But I have bought 2 of my last three glasses here. read more

This is a great local optician. We started going here on a recommendation when our one-year-old needed glasses. I have been so impressed with them from the beginning: great advice, helpful service, good selection, and prompt fulfillment. They even accommodated us with a huge discount when his prescription changed less than a month from his first doctor's visit. You could find glasses or lenses cheaper elsewhere but I'm confident I wouldn't be as satisfied because this was something we really needed help with. read more

Looking for frames for my toddler's first pair of glasses. Jackie was wonderful to work with and took her time finding just the right pair. She did great with my son and helped make it fun. They had a large selection of MiraFlex and Nano frames. read more

Excellent service, product knowledge. Diann helped me find my first pair of progressives. A whole new world opened up with my vision. Thank you! read more

I spent $980 for frames and glasses at McPherson but vision was very poor with new glasses. After multiple trips to/from ophthalmologist and McPherson, ophthalmologist admitted he had written wrong prescription. Lenses had to be redone and McPherson charged me an additional $35 which brought the total to $1015. Through research I learned there is a 1000 percent market on eye glass frames so McPherson made a huge profit on this transaction and yet they charged an ADDITIONAL $35. Guess they have never heard of good PR. I will NEVER go back to them. read more

They have an enormous amount of frames to select from. Their service is fantastic. They took a lot time making sure my selection was right for my face shape. Once my glasses were in for pick up they spent the need time to do the subtle adjustments to make them perfect. I have purchased two pairs from them and recommended them to friends that are as happy as I am. They are the best. read more

This is a great local optician. They are not inexpensive, but the quality of their eyewear is very high and the quality of their service is exceptional. I worked with Maria, who was honest about what looked good and what didn't. She was meticulous in the fitting process. The place is often very busy and I've observed this level of service from every person who works there. When I picked up my glasses, I became mesmerized with a second pair and wanted to purchase them on the spot. Maria firmly told me she wasn't going to let me spend my money until I had worn my first pair for a while, and waited until the Spring selections were in place. She said "there is absolutely not reason to rush into a second pair now". I love that! I have previously purchased from the large chains and the quality of the prescription (I went digital) and service was just so much better at PacPherson. Love this place. read more
