This was a nice hotel! They have Ac which has been are first hotel in Ireland with it. It's probably the most modern and very similar to one in the United States. We got a drink at there bar restaurant down stairs and staff was very friendly and accommodating! However we didn't know the town closes down a lot on Sunday Mondays so if going through pick different days if you wanna see more open. read more

While the reception was lukewarm, they were more than made up for that. I'm not saying reception was rude by any way shape or form just not as welcoming, as I am used to from other hotels in this area. The bed is comfortable, the room is spacious, and they went out of the way to make sure we had a fan because I sleep hot. Breakfast is wonderful when you get a selection of everything off the menu in the hot side, plus you can help yourself to the cold items in a buffet style. We love the heated towel racks in the bathroom, it came in handy for those chilly mornings that we know can happen here. This hotel is located at the end of the harbor, so lots of walking to the activities, but we appreciate that as we like to get our steps in. The folks in the tavern were so friendly and we went there multiple times just to have a drink and say hello to these folks I might say that the mushroom and tarragon soup was my personal favorite read more

We are currently staying at the Trident Hotel. When we arrived yesterday we managed to get the last parking spot. I asked when checking in was there sufficient parking for guests of the hotel. I was told there was not. I then asked if in the case that parking is full, could we try to park at their sister hotel (Actons), I was told we could not. As we were leaving this morning to take a day trip out of Kinsale, we saw that 7 of their very limited parking spots were 'reserved'. No surprises that when we arrived back into Kinsale on a sunny Saturday in May, there were zero spots open. The 7 'reserved' spots were still blocked and empty. We spent an hour driving around trying to find parking. No luck. Eventually, my husband has to drop me off at the hotel, and I had to sit in the window of the hotel watching to see if a car would leave and text my husband who was double parked out on the road. Luckily, no car came in ahead of him as I had watched endless cars drive around to no avail. Apparently the reserved spaces were for a 'function'. When I enquired at the front desk why other guests money was better than ours I was simply told they had to reserve them for the function. If you value your blood pressure, just note this hotel, despite having not enough spaces already for guests, will likely block spaces every weekend throughout the 'on' season. I have stayed several times before over the years. We will not be returning. read more

My wife and I visited and stayed at Trident in April 2025. The hotel is old, musty, and not at all like the pictures you see on their website. The air conditioner was not operating on the floor we were on and had to be moved to a different room. I would not recommend this hotel. read more

First class experience in this well appointed 5 star hotel in a great location in the beautiful seaside town of Kinsale. We treated ourselves to a night away from the smoke and met up with close friends living closer than us. A great time was had by all. The room was spacious and comfortable, the bed enormous and with excellent bathroom goodies. We dined elsewhere but did have the superb breakfast. Service was brisk, competent and very friendly. In fact all the staff we encountered, from front of house to housekeeping were uniformly friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. Will definitely return. read more

I can't say enough good things about the Trident Hotel. We spent three nights there last week, and it was the three best days of our 11 day honeymoon! The hotel is situated beautifully right on the harbor, with beautiful water views from most rooms. It's a short 10 minute walk to town, where there's great shopping, dining, and 25 bars to choose from!! (Dalton's was our fave -- small, but they had the most wonderful live music one night of our stay!) The facility itself is spotlessly clean, and the staff goes out of their way to help with whatever the guests need. The breakfast served is fantastic! There's a hot menu to order from, plus a massive choice of cold options, including the best granola I've had in a long time! Hugh at the front desk was the BEST. He got us in for an extra night -- we'd originally planned for two, and added one -- and he put up with all of my questions with a smile! Don't miss dinner at the Wharf onsite. Isaak, one of the bartenders, is the sweetest, and knows a ton about what to see in the area. Aoife (waitress) truly made our night -- she suggested the chicken sandwich and banoffee pie to me, and both were beyond good (so good we went back another night so I could eat the exact same things!). Jason is a newer waiter at the Wharf, and his easy demeanor and hilarious wit charmed us instantly. We will be visiting Ireland again in a few years, and we are already looking forward to our next stay at the Trident. read more

My self and my husband bought the Romantic Getaway package, which included dinner and champers. When we arrived we discovered we had been upgraded to the Master Suite - the pic below doesn't do it justice. There was such an impressive view that even though it was February - we sat out sipping wine. We were told to arrive promptly for breakfast on the Saturday and avoided a queue by doing so. Our evening meal was maaaaaaasive, with loads of veg, chips, potato gratin and salad - almost enough sides for a meal in themselves, and if you're planning on getting grub be warned, it seemed like the hotel restaurant wasn't open on Sunday, so do check with the staff when you're booking in. There's always the bar though, and they boasted some yummy chicken and chips. read more

My husband and I recently returned from Ireland and this was my favorite hotel. Everything was gorgeous with a modern feel and designed to meet the eye. The staff was great, hotel was clean, breakfast was awesome and the rooms were large. It's within walking distance to soooooo much and I loved Kinsale. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Parking can be a little tight but it's Ireland, people should understand that. Thank you Trident. read more

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Trident Hotel this past October. We had stumbled upon the Trident during our first visit to Kinsale in 2013. After scouting various options in Co. Cork, we decided after seeing the reception room and the view of the harbor it was just what we were looking for. We live in Boston, so I was very nervous about the long-distance planning and making sure all of the details were right for the day. Norma, Anthony, and the rest of their team made it so easy. Leading up to the wedding, the Trident staff made all 60 of us Americans feel so welcome and everyone had a wonderful time. The rooms were spacious, the food was delicious, and the resident's bar was a great place to wind down every night. The reception was beautiful. Anthony helped all of my vendors make the room look spectacular. The food was incredible-- not the frozen catered stuff you get in the US, but real fresh food. I actually heard someone say that the "goat cheese tart is life changing". I could go on and on (more than I already have), so let me just end by saying that the Trident Hotel was the epitome of Irish hospitality and I would not hesitate to recommend it for a wedding, a weekend, or just a meal and a pint. read more

When we checked in, we were put into a smoking room which I couldn't take as the smoke had penetrated into everything and the stale smell was over powering. We were then transferred thankfully to a room with a better view and smoke free. The hotel was fine but a little aged and the floors in the rooms were really kreaky. The location is good. It just needs a bit of a revamp. read more

This hotel is such a gem. It's right on the water/harbor in Kinsale which is an adorable town itself. You can walk to all of shops and restaurants. The rooms are quite large, very clean, and all have incredible views of the water. It was very reasonably priced for what you get. Staff is friendly and breakfast was great. Great 4-star European hotel; a pretty quiet fishing community with wonderful food. We only stayed for one night, but it looks like most of the rooms feature a view of the harbor. I recommend Fishy Fish restaurant that is about 3 blocks away after walking through a nice courtyard. They also feature a nice restaurant called Pier One and a Tavern of course on the premises. The Irish breakfast was also very good; we would definitely stay at this hotel again if we were staying in Kinsale. Foodie capital of Ireland. :) read more

Beatiful!!! Great Harbour view and very hospitable. We enjoyed our stay! Within walking distance of everything in town. A short walk up the hill ad there is a tremendous veiw of the harbor. They have a nice breakfast that you can either eat the buffet or made to order. In the evening there is a 2nd floor patio you can order drinks or bring your own drinks to sit, relax and look out over the harbor. read more

This is a 1:5 star hotel which claims luxury. The Trident Hotel was absolutely abismal. The treatment I received here was worse then I have ever experienced. The bartender left for hours at a time and rarely came back to hear drink orders...even when the bar was completely full of people. While becoming aggravated by this, I made the bartender aware of my frustration. My requests were not met cordially. I was promptly escorted out of the bar for no reason, threatened to have my stay for the night revoked, all while the young bartender chastised me. It was the absolute worst dining experience of my life. If able, I would have cancelled my reservation and stayed at any other hotel. I was outraged, and would never support this business again. For your own sake, do not ever stay at this hotel. You will receive hostile treatment, which was reciprocated by the front desk when I brought up the issue. The only decent man who worked here was the elderly gentleman from Seattle, USA. This hotel has no interest in improving their internal customer experience. It seems they only care about their outward appearance, which carries their business agenda. Customer service is no concern for them. If you are staying in Kinsale, do NOT stay at the Trident. You will experience the worst customer service imagineable. read more
