The Wharf Tavern was perfect choice for a drink and dinner. Wonderful view of harbour, great service and cold beer. Best Fish Pie

Very nice restaurant. I tried the Hake fillet from the Cavery menu. It was great, highly recommend

Soup is never photogenic, but this was very tasty and deserves a mention!

My self and my husband bought the Romantic Getaway package, which included dinner and champers. When we arrived we discovered we had been upgraded to the Master Suite - the pic below doesn't do it justice. There was such an impressive view that even though it was February - we sat out sipping wine. We were told to arrive promptly for breakfast on the Saturday and avoided a queue by doing so. Our evening meal was maaaaaaasive, with loads of veg, chips, potato gratin and salad - almost enough sides for a meal in themselves, and if you're planning on getting grub be warned, it seemed like the hotel restaurant wasn't open on Sunday, so do check with the staff when you're booking in. There's always the bar though, and they boasted some yummy chicken and chips.

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Trident Hotel this past October. We had stumbled upon the Trident during our first visit to Kinsale in 2013. After scouting various options in Co. Cork, we decided after seeing the reception room and the view of the harbor it was just what we were looking for. We live in Boston, so I was very nervous about the long-distance planning and making sure all of the details were right for the day. Norma, Anthony, and the rest of their team made it so easy. Leading up to the wedding, the Trident staff made all 60 of us Americans feel so welcome and everyone had a wonderful time. The rooms were spacious, the food was delicious, and the resident's bar was a great place to wind down every night. The reception was beautiful. Anthony helped all of my vendors make the room look spectacular. The food was incredible-- not the frozen catered stuff you get in the US, but real fresh food. I actually heard someone say that the "goat cheese tart is life changing". I could go on and on (more than I already have), so let me just end by saying that the Trident Hotel was the epitome of Irish hospitality and I would not hesitate to recommend it for a wedding, a weekend, or just a meal and a pint.

Firstly the Wi-Fi was non-existent when we were there and when people are traveling out of the country they kind of depend on WiFi for cellular cost reasons. You have to do better with the bathroom lighting. Pink lighting is not great for a woman applying makeup lol. There was another light in that bathroom but it is very dim. There is nowhere to put anything like toiletries in the bathroom, no hooks, no shelving, no nothing it was very awkward in there. Also, our towel heater didn't work and I don't even think it was connected and they didn't have washcloths(which I've noticed is a thing throughout and I still don't get it lol) but no worries because I brought my own with me because I knew there would be about an 95% chance there would be no washcloths. All of this would've been a bigger deal if our stay was longer but it wasn't so these are just suggestions. Overall it's a beautiful spot and everyone was very nice.

Setting is a cozy pub with wonderful golf history on the walls. Anthony, the owner is fantastic, wonderful to chat with and learn everything about Kinsale and golf. This is the best kept secret in Kinsale for food. This is NOT pub food, great Asian influence, had the monkfish with 5 spices and noodles. Coconut chicken is phenomenal, nice moderate price wine list and, of course, well poured Guinness. Highly recommended as say hello to Anthony for us. Also, bring your home course golf ball for the collection.

There are stairs leading into the building, narrow hallways, an elevator that barely holds a rollator and two people. But that's just the start of our experience so far. Even though the room we have is somewhat accessible the shower would not be for anyone with mobility issues. The shower appears to be recently renovated as does the rest of the bathroom the entrance to the shower is small and the floor is slippery!!! Not what you want for anyone. The issues continue, the mattress is old and has a foam topper on it. Needs a new mattress that provides some support. You only get about 12 tv channels and of that only about two have anything that's remotely interesting. We luckily came back to our room at 6pm only to find two servers from the cafe below locking the front door. No one told us the door gets locked and we were never told how to get in. Need anything after the receptionist has left at 5? You need to call to the sister hotel to have one of their staff help you. There is no a/c, not a big problem as you are located near the water so there would be cooling over the evening hours. But the windows are heavy and you need blocks of wood to hold them open. Again no one told us until we called to find this out. Again we had to call to the sister hotel to have someone bring something to prop the windows open. They do provide a Dyson fan but without the windows open it just blows around hot air. There's a large Ardmore in the room for hanging clothes, etc. That's great except there are no handles on it. Want to open it? You need to reach up to the top of the door to do that. Out of luck if you are short. Internet? Almost non-existent. Connections keep dropping, can't connect to websites, not even sure I'll finish this post before I lose the connection again. Think you get the idea. This establishment may work for some but there is no way we can recommend it and this is only our first night of a two night stay.

I had arranged this stay through booking.com. When I arrived the following day at the hotel, they told me they would not be able to refund what I had paid for the first night and to contactbooking.com Which I did and booking.com said they would appeal to the manager of the hotel and ask for my money back. The hotel claimed they never received a call from me canceling the first night and that they were unable to refund me. I am very angry with this decision, and would caution anyone who plans to stay there, that they will not even, for an act of God Refund your money!

We ran late by 3 hours for their check in time, as Americans, none of us had a phone service since we were driving through the country and felt we'd have no issues as we were staying at a hotel. We showed up, as it was pouring outside, and she let us in and treated us as if we were intentionally inconsiderate and kept telling us that we were at fault for not checking in at the correct time (mind you it's between the hours of 4-7 pm). We admitted our mistake, apologized and she reluctantly went and got our rooms ready, she brought us to our rooms and then saw our phones, to which she pointed out we could have used them (we couldn't) and began yelling at us and asking us if we thought she was stupid because we had our phones, she then asked us to leave when we told her we felt uncomfortable and then refused to let us stay there or refund our money. At 11 pm at night, we were forced to drive to another city (Cork) to which we were beautifully relocated. She is a horrible host and if you're not a 45-65 years old and a white person, you will completely be treated as a subhuman.

We arrived and a young guy greeted us and who was very friendly. And overpowering smell of animal urine hit us the minute we walked in. The kid gave us our keys and we went to the room and when we open the door there were a bunch of framed pictures piled up on the bed and around the room. We notified him and he said sorry, I will give you a different room. He gave us another key and when we open that door the beds in the room were covered in boxes and Christmas decorations. It look like a storage room. He apologized again and asked if we could wait downstairs while he cleaned a room. I went back online and found that a room had opened up at a hotel near the city center. About 10 minutes have gone by and I yelled up to him that it smelled like animals and that my wife allergies were picking that up and that we would stay at a different place. He apologized and asked if it was more expensive. I told him yes and he said he would reimburse us for the difference. A very nice fellow. About a month later I had not heard anything back and sent a note to the owner. She responded that the employee was new and shouldn't have offered us a refund. Then told us we don't owe you anything and we chose to leave. I suggest if all of the hotels are full in Kinsale, you are better off finding a homeless person and renting his urine soaked sleeping bag before staying in this dump.

In our opinion, Landfall House would fit right in here in California. Our room was large and well appointed and had a fantastic view of the river Bandon, probably the best view from a hotel room we've had in a very long time (see the photo we uploaded). The bathroom was clean and functional, though just a little small (seems to be the case in Ireland). Breakfast was awesome. We had our choice of several dishes. We tried smoked salmon & eggs, crepes with fresh fruit, and of course the full Irish. All were worth having again. Location is great, just a few blocks away from downtown Kinsale. We walked into town one night for dinner, and though a decent hike, it's certainly not difficult. Finally, we should mention that Margo was very attentive and warm. She is more than willing to have a conversation and to suggest things to do in the area. She was awesome.
