Came here for a weekend stay. You have to hire the entire place and people tend to do so for weddings and other private events. It's just outside of Kinsale town (you can walk it), and it was built in the 1700's. It's a very beautiful and well kept hotel, both immaculate and modern, and yet maintaining a rustic feel. There is also a gorgeous orangery, where you can have a wedding reception. The bar is a convivial place to have a drink, with stools and comfy chairs, and there are little sitting rooms scattered across the hotel, which made for good impromptu chats over a cup of coffee. The rooms themselves are all different, and are identified by place name, rather than number, which was a nice touch. We were in the Australia Room. They have a spacious cottage too, for families, with its own large kitchen and lounge. The grounds are extensive and the views over Kinsale estuary are pretty dramatic. We had dinner in the ballroom, with a long table down the middle, wonderfully laid. I don't normally go for barbeques, but the food was wonderful. The full Irish breakfast the next morning was really very good, with the best black pudding I have ever tasted.
The service was excellent, and I would in particular single out Declan and Bianca for praise, although everyone was good. It was pricey, but worth it. read more
