"It's beautiful, it's beautiful!" - A Perfect Lunch in Kinsale While exploring County Cork with our amazing guide Derek from Private Tours Cork & Ireland, he brought us to Blue Haven in Kinsale for lunch--and it could not have been more perfect. The atmosphere is stylish yet welcoming, with gorgeous coastal décor and a relaxed vibe that immediately makes you feel at home. Lunch was fantastic--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. But what truly made the experience unforgettable was our incredible waitress. She was warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Lunch was beautiful, it's beautiful!!! If you're anywhere near Kinsale, make the Blue Haven your lunch stop. A big thank you to Derek for the spot-on recommendation--we'll be talking about this meal for a long time. Stopped in for a quick bite to eat before meeting up for a tour. Only has the Seafood Chowder, as we figured it would be the fastest menu item to be delivered to our table. It was very good and hit the spot. Service was quick and efficient. Ambiance was very nice as well.

Stopped in Kinsale for an overnight and had a delicious dinner and evening at the Blue Haven Hotel! This has a nice cozy atmosphere with friendly staff. We were seated in the corner in some comfy chairs and browsed the lengthy drink booklet. Many options of wine by the glass and bottle, local beers, local whiskeys and whiskey flights. Many food choices on the menu and I went with the fish tacos...yum, Made perfectly with a crispy, breaded shell and buttery fish center! The two others I was with got the steak and burger and said both were delicious! After we ate, we stayed for the live music and had some drinks. This was a really nice evening with good food, drinks and music! They also have an outdoor sidewalk patio that looks beautiful!

Let's start off by saying this place is quite possibly the worst Ireland experience we've had. It's started off with the worst greeting from the server. We were seated at the table and quickly gave her the request for drinks and water. Wait... let me bring up the fact that the menu states the "mixologist can make any drink preference. " That was not the case. We requested a toasted almond. Simple drink with a couple of shots of liqueur , coke and cream. It took a few servers to help determine what a custom drink was. We're in Ireland for the love of God where alcohol is plentiful and shots are flowing. Ugh this place is horrible. So let's talk food. The oysters were boring and unimpressive. I get it it's almost a month with an R but small oysters with a shot of Tabasco. How can this place be Michelin anything. Horrible presentation. I had the prawns pil pil. How can you complicate this meal. You cannot but the chef thought he would give it a try and it worked. The worst with oil, maybe butter with prawns and a shaving of pil pil. He messed this one up but good. Boring, horrible, tasteless. The service was by far the worst experience we have ever had at a restaurant. Hire competent people and maybe the restaurant will survive. The one person who gave a darn was the duty manager today on August 31st. I think her name was Maira. She tried to recover with a complementary drink. If she was our server today, I'm sure we would've received water after the fourth request. It's water...how can you screw this up. Foreigners and locals stay away!

After more sight seeing, I obviously wanted ice cream. We came here around 10ish because I refused to eat premade ice cream from the freezer. I loved this joint! They have live music and tap dancers! It was a grand environment. The waitress was from Long Island and the couple next to us were also from Long Island. It's always neat to meet someone from the states. I ordered 3 scoops of ice cream and requested no whip cream but it still had whipped cream..The caramelized ginger was the best flavor. The pistachio tasted too fake and the pecan was okay. Not the best ice cream I had but the entertainment made up for it. We also ordered Guinness, Americano and sparkling water. I'm not sure what the hype about Guinness is. It tasted like diluted beer..As for the americano, eh, I'm not a coffee snob but it's average. Overall, service was great, ice cream wasn't, drinks weren't impressive but entertainment was grand.

    Classic Blue Haven Toastie.

This review is for the Restaurant in the Blue Haven Hotel. The Blue Haven looked like a likely spot for lunch in Kinsale. Other establishments nearby were crowded with visitors. This one only moderately so, and primarily with locals, including a sizable family birthday celebration. The A La Carte menu was offered for weekday luncheon. Pizza appeared to be a popular menu item. Wanting something more traditional, I selected the Classic Blue Haven Toastie. The Toastie was a toasted sandwich with Irish Cheddar, ham, lettuce and tomato. It was accompanied by a side of Potato Skins. (I would have called them thick-cut French fired.) Perfect! Coke Zero was available as a beverage. Service was very good and we were finished in time to explore a bit of the town. Exploration of Kinsale began by noting that the Blue Haven's restaurant and part of the hotel is located in the restored Old Fish Market. The Old Fish Market dates to 1784.

Just home from a lovely weekend in beautiful Kinsale which was made all the more nicer because of the staff at the Blue Haven Hotel. From the moment you enter this Boutique style Hotel you know that you are welcome. The receptionist on our arrival was more than polite and helpful. We stayed in Room 16 which is right at the front of this centrally located gem. The room was spotless and spacious enough for two, with free wifi (excellent coverage). From the receptionists too the manager and on to the house maids the attention to service is quite unique and sadly lacking throughout the hospitallity in many establishements we've stayed in throughout Ireland so this was a welcome exception. The food is quality with a capital Q. From the huge choice selection at breakfast to the bar food and the Bistro it was all 100% fresh local Ingredients. We ate here most of the time and given the culinary competition in Kinsale and my appetite thats a huge compliment. The service from ALL of the staff is attentive and genuine. There is on street parking for 1.20 per hour midweek days or 3 minutes away its free. Evenings and Sunday its free on street parking. The bar was comfortable and cozy and the free live music every night had this bar buzzing! We weren;t disturbed at all even though we had a front room and the bands played until the early hours. This was a real treat. I will not be going to Kinsale again unless I get a room at the Blue Haven or Its sister the Old Bank Townhouse. I didnt find this hotel and its prices anymore expensive than similar hotels and restaurant prices in Dublin so It wouldn't be an issue. Its a small hotel but its got a romantic charm and history. I cannot recommend it more highly. This Hotel is far from Blue!! I think they should drop the Blue and add an E to ............... HEAVEN

Good option for lunch for big party. Those who got chicken wraps, burgers and fish and chips said it was very tasty! Also great drink menu selection including mixed drinks beer and wine. Not very accommodating for vegetarians who don't eat fish.

Literally the best curry we've ever had in our LIFE. Seriously, this entree should be in a world renowned food magazine or something. I wanted a cup of the sauce to take home and drink at night. DAT SAUCE DOE.

Firstly the Wi-Fi was non-existent when we were there and when people are traveling out of the country they kind of depend on WiFi for cellular cost reasons. You have to do better with the bathroom lighting. Pink lighting is not great for a woman applying makeup lol. There was another light in that bathroom but it is very dim. There is nowhere to put anything like toiletries in the bathroom, no hooks, no shelving, no nothing it was very awkward in there. Also, our towel heater didn't work and I don't even think it was connected and they didn't have washcloths(which I've noticed is a thing throughout and I still don't get it lol) but no worries because I brought my own with me because I knew there would be about an 95% chance there would be no washcloths. All of this would've been a bigger deal if our stay was longer but it wasn't so these are just suggestions. Overall it's a beautiful spot and everyone was very nice.

There are stairs leading into the building, narrow hallways, an elevator that barely holds a rollator and two people. But that's just the start of our experience so far. Even though the room we have is somewhat accessible the shower would not be for anyone with mobility issues. The shower appears to be recently renovated as does the rest of the bathroom the entrance to the shower is small and the floor is slippery!!! Not what you want for anyone. The issues continue, the mattress is old and has a foam topper on it. Needs a new mattress that provides some support. You only get about 12 tv channels and of that only about two have anything that's remotely interesting. We luckily came back to our room at 6pm only to find two servers from the cafe below locking the front door. No one told us the door gets locked and we were never told how to get in. Need anything after the receptionist has left at 5? You need to call to the sister hotel to have one of their staff help you. There is no a/c, not a big problem as you are located near the water so there would be cooling over the evening hours. But the windows are heavy and you need blocks of wood to hold them open. Again no one told us until we called to find this out. Again we had to call to the sister hotel to have someone bring something to prop the windows open. They do provide a Dyson fan but without the windows open it just blows around hot air. There's a large Ardmore in the room for hanging clothes, etc. That's great except there are no handles on it. Want to open it? You need to reach up to the top of the door to do that. Out of luck if you are short. Internet? Almost non-existent. Connections keep dropping, can't connect to websites, not even sure I'll finish this post before I lose the connection again. Think you get the idea. This establishment may work for some but there is no way we can recommend it and this is only our first night of a two night stay.
