Got the two double room overlooking the River. It's a good size for three people. Get the River view if possible as the other side is overlooking the parking, very gloomy. Front desk is very helpful as they are about to accommodate our request.

Beautiful atmosphere and seats. Accommodating for vegans....but terrible at coffee . Delicious brunch food. We gave them back a cup of foam from the undrinkable coffees...& waitress didn't blink or apologize. We asked for water twice. We didn't receive it. Sad. Loved the sausages. The Creme brûlée was disappointing . Oily after taste. Overwhelmingly sweet (& I love creme brulee...I know it's supposed to be sweet...this went too far). The vanilla custard layer wasn't set properly...was watery at bottom and Luke warm...with cold patches. Would have preferred either cold or warm. Perhaps defrosted in a microwave?!? Vegan dessert was amazing! Kudos. The vegan sausages were good. Great spot for vegans

The Irish breakfast was incredible. Stopped here on my first hour in Cork and I could not have been more impressed. Food was hot, ready, and delicious. There were so many options It was even hard to decide. All the drinks were fresh and delicious. This place is a must stop if you are ever near Cork!

My wife and I spent a week at The River Lee and were happy with it. This could well be the best hotel in Cork, but it's a bit tired and could use some improvements if it wants to be a truly top-notch hotel. We paid for a deluxe room which put us on the 5th floor (ie. executive floor) and granted access to the Executive Lounge, which is a sitting area at the end of the hallway with a TV, some snacks, sweets and a coffee machine. The deluxe room also included a Nespresso machine in the room and turndown service. Both were nice (but ultimately unnecessary) little perks. The hotel is shaped like a backwards L and you definitely want a view to the north facing the river. We had a room in the back and the view was not scenic and we had to keep the curtain closed most of the time anyway because other people could see into our room as a result of the L shape and weird pop out design. I guess the pop out gives the rooms a little more square footage but it's not worth it, especially in the back. Honestly they should take all the river-facing rooms and make them the deluxe rooms and make everything else the regular rooms. If I'm paying for the highest tier of room I would have rather been in a river-facing room on a lower floor rather than our room facing the back on the top floor. The room itself was comfortable with a few small flaws. The HVAC was noisy. The toilet took multiple button pushes to properly flush. More outlets or some USB ports would be nice, given the amount of technology that people travel with these days. Neither power adapter we brought fit in the outlet on the desk, rending it useless. The old SD TV and should have been upgraded to a nice flat screen HDTV at least a few years ago. Maybe this is an American-centric complaint but most other nice hotels in Europe have done this. On the positive side, the location is great - a very easy walk just about everywhere in the city center, and the staff here are all fantastic as well. Our room included breakfast and it was high quality with a good number of choices. Cork doesn't have a ton of hotels and for that reason I'd stay at the River Lee again, though I'd do everything in my power to get a river view next time.

    Surprise treat upon arrival!

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights while on honeymoon and we were blown away! Full disclosure: We received a complimentary upgrade to a "deluxe" room on the 5th floor. The River Lee is very modern and comfortable and offers unobstructed view of Cork from its peaceful setting near the river. Upon arrival, we were welcomed at the reception desk with hot towels and later we found complimentary waters, chocolates, and a honeymoon dessert in our room. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was refreshing and clean. We loved sitting in our "balcony" outcrop watching the city life in the evenings. (Though beware that neighboring rooms can see you if you do this.) Our only complaint is that the air conditioner in the room had a mind of its own. It was either running or flashing a maintenance wrench and we couldn't do anything other than turn it off. Deluxe rooms come with access to the executive lounge which is fully stocked with waters, juices, and coffee bar. It also offers breakfast items in the morning, desserts at night, and snacks throughout the day. The Full Irish Breakfast was one of the bests we had while in Ireland - so much variety! (Not so much in the cooked foods department, but with fruits, yogurt/porridge mix-ins, breads, etc.) Definitely stay here if you can! You might never want to leave the hotel!

    Nice accommodations

We had a fantastic stay, the staff was excellent, and it was a very comfortable room. Make sure to take advantage of the indoor pool and jacuzzi as well as the gym. Also, you won't regret getting the breakfast buffet. The breakfast spread is amazing. Super comfortable beds and pillows.

    Moxy - Queen bed room

I stayed at the Moxy in Cork just for two nights and I really enjoyed myself. This is a brand new…read moreMoxy which I assume took over another former hotel. The place is really nice inside with lots of updates and the trendy decor you'd expect from a Moxy. I've stayed in a few Moxy hotels in NYC and enjoyed my stays. The rooms are always small but economical with plenty of storage for such a small space. That is exactly how this Moxy was, too. The bed was very comfy and the TV had the best selection of channels I experienced from any hotel in Ireland during my stay. There's a desk that folds out from the wall, a small stool, a nook with a seat, and hooks for you to hang your clothes. I really appreciated the lighting since it wasn't just overwhelming overhead lighting. The location is unbeatable as well. Right in the middle of Cork overlooking the river. There's plenty of great bars and restaurants on that side of the river but even more fun places to explore across the way. Everything I wanted to eat and drink was no more than a 15 minute walk away. The reason for the four stars is that the shower, while very nice upon first look, leaked water onto the floor. This was one of the only hotels I saw in Ireland which had a full glass shower door which closed (hallelujah!) but it somehow STILL leaked water onto the ground. Upon brief inspection, I believe the cause may be some sort of construction error. The glass didn't seem to be properly fitted. The other issue I had was with the bathroom door. It's one of those annoying barn doors which slides and this particular door would get stuck and jam if closed all the way. Being alone in the room, this wasn't a make or break issue but if I was traveling with alongside someone, I'd definitely want that door to shut properly and I definitely wouldn't want to be concerned with how I'd get back out. The bar downstairs is really cute and I found all the staff members to be absolutely delightful. From check-in to cocktails to asking questions about the bus system and mailing a postcard, every single staff member was so friendly and helpful. I especially enjoyed my time spent with the bartenders, Olivia and Chris, who provided great drinks and even greater conversation. Being that it's a new hotel, I'm guessing there's just a few kinks that need to be worked out in terms of construction. I'd probably still return despite those issues. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

My sister, a recent widow, was traveling with her daughter--who is studying abroad in Ireland--and her son. When they arrived at the hotel, they discovered that all the rooms at the Moxy only accommodate two people. As a Titanium member with over 100 nights at Marriott last year, I travel frequently, yet I had never stayed at a Moxy before and didn't realize this detail wasn't clearly stated on the website. To complicate matters, both the Moxy and its sister hotel were fully booked. The only option given was to book a second room, which wasn't ideal for their situation and would have doubled their travel budget. My sister called me in tears, unsure of what to do. That's when I reached out and spoke with Mark. He was smart, kind, and incredibly resourceful. Despite the sold-out status, he went above and beyond--checking carefully until he found a solution. He located a room at the Residence Inn that was out of service due to a minor issue (a hairdryer needed replacing) and was able to move my sister and her family there. This completely saved the day and made all the difference for my sister during an already emotional trip. Instead of simply saying, "We're sold out," Mark took the extra steps to find a solution--something that should be the gold standard in hospitality. His efforts should be recognized and celebrated. Marriott prides itself on exceptional service, and Mark truly embodies that. Thank you, Mark, for your professionalism, kindness, and dedication to guests. I hope Marriott acknowledges and rewards your excellence!

It's within walking distance to lots of restaurants, and the Cork English Market -Ice machine on every floor. We Americans love our ice! -Rooms and bathroom were pretty spacious -Crib available upon request (although we did request this ahead of time, and it was not set up until we arrived) -Mini fridge available upon request but it's SUPER small. It looks like it's meant to fit a few cans of soda, and it's not very cold - but anything is better than nothing Cons: -No parking. There's not even really a place for you to stop to unload your luggage. If you want "discounted" parking, it's a few blocks away, and there are no in and out privileges -There are a few steps leading up to the lobby, which makes it difficult to drag your luggage up. We dropped it off at 9 am and it was back later that day. The bed was so comfortable but the pillows are hard. The shower was nice and the bathroom was large with a lot of space for all the things ladies like to bring on vacation.. We ordered food to our room one evening and to our surprise it was really delicious. The only thing I absolutely hated was that there is NO PARKING at the hotel. There a spot to unload your bags but the parking garage is at least a 10 minute walk. I really did not enjoy that. For one thing, it started raining on our way over to the car one day and we were soaked. Yes, we had rain coats and umbrellas but the wind was so terrible that it blew the umbrellas backwards. When we finally had to leave we walked over to get the car and it took forever to get back to the hotel because there is construction in front of the hotel and traffic is diverted. There was a lot of 1 way streets. I would definitely stay there again just because of the room and staff friendliness but I did not appreciate the parking situation.
