Best Bed & Breakfast in the ENTIRE country! Avril and Tony's take on modern B&B-ing is simply unmatchable. They have set a new standard in hospitality. We arrived to find two incredibly energetic, young people who are equally enthusiastic about their city. They were quick to make us feel at home in their adorable home. While the house certainly has touches of traditional Irish flair, the overall feeling of the room is very contemporary. It is clear that Tony and Avril have spent quiet a bit of time taking their B&B into the next century. They have all the high quality conveniences of a modern hotel while still maintaining the wonderful homey feelings of a B&B. They have power showers, fresh/crisp bedding, and about the best hospitality we received on our tour of the country. Both Tony and Avril were noticeably excited about having guests. Being several days into our trip already, we were a bit tired. But their energy was a breath of fresh air that we needed. Their enthusiasm continued from the moment we checked in to the moment we sadly checked out. So they get an A for the Bed, now let's talk about the Breakfast. OMG. It was amazing. Goodbye to the old traditional Irish breakfast and HELLO YUMMIES! While they did pay respect to the Irish traditions, they certainly go above and beyond to put their signature on the first meal of the day. French toast, fresh cut fruit, yogurt.... and the most amazing scones I have ever had in my entire life. My visit to Fernroyd was several months ago and I can still close my eyes and remember the yum-tastic treat that breakfast was that March morning. I will return to Ireland again. And when I do, I plan more than one evening with Tony and Avril. See you then!

Hidden Gem... Close to the city, yet cozy and quite for a good night sleep!

The breakfast was so good, and Avril even gave us some scones to take on the road (which were perfect)!

It took us to the B&B and we couldn't figure it out until we were leaving the first day and there was a Blarney Stone B&B next door! We were greeting warmly and asked if we wanted tea or coffee. We figured it was just tea and coffee - but the pastries! Oh my' There is parking. We were in a larger room but it was up quite a few steps. It's on a fairly busy road but you couldn't hear much. The bathroom is extremely small but worked. The accommodations are not luxurious but worked. The breakfast was out of this world! Several people waited on us. The menu was about 7 pages. There was cold cereal, fruit and pastry, then main dish and then dessert crepe of either chocolate and banana or cinnamon sugar. The location is excellent and you can walk to town from there. A cab was 7 Euros.

Functioning windows with views of the main street and the university entrance. Easy, flat walk to downtown and market. Just across from university grounds, where there are walking paths and beautiful buildings and flora to observe. Hostess was ready with tea and breads the second we pulled into the driveway. Parking is a cooperative dance in the small but adequate lot, and guests are friendly and helpful in shifting vehicles around if need be. Very happy with the room, the location, the servce and the rate. It's a corker!

Once settled her restaurant, pub and sightseeing tips were first rate. Bed was very comfortable and house was quiet (although we were travelling during the off season). Having your own bathroom and shower is great as well. The breakfasts were top notch and ample, a light lunch at most was needed between breakfast and dinner. Central location also makes it attractive to those who like their amenities close by. Should we ever get back to Cork we would return here to stay.

Upon arriving, Olive was warm, welcoming, and took care of us with a pot of tea and chocolates and a friendly disposition that made us feel as if we were her old friends just popping by for a visit rather than strangers meeting for the first time. She had plenty of stories to share and wisdom on where to go and what to see while in Cork (and the appropriate maps to guide us in the right direction). Our room was cozy with a reasonably sized bathroom (by Irish standards) and a sweeping view over the city. The breakfast was prompt and piping hot - my husband raved about the black and white pudding, while I stuck to scrambled eggs, beans, and toast. Plus, the B&B is located a comfortable walking distance from the bus terminal and train station. I'd recommend Auburn House to any out of town visitors looking for the full B&B experience.
