My room was beautiful and clean and had everything I needed and the staff was always friendly and helpful. They don't have a plug convertor to borrow but you could purchase one from them. The restaurant and bar downstairs was so convenient and the food was delicious! The morning breakfast buffet was worth it, although a hot latte seemed to always take them a while. There is seating outside and the view from here is magnificent. There is also a cute bar lounge that is separate from the building down the stairs behind the restaurant. Excellent spot to sit with friends while sipping a drink or two on comfortable seating late at night. The hotel's location was also very convenient. It was not very difficult to request a taxi (or use the Uber equivalent called Freeride app) and it was just a nice swift 20 minute walk down the hill to the city center. I recommend a visit to the English Market - lots of fantastic food and drinks to try! If you like shopping there are also a lot of shops to check out, including bookstores and souvenir shops.

It's a great location, close to the train station and right in Cork's city center. We paid about €130 for a room with a double bed. It was clean and overlooked the River Lee. The front desk attendant had toothbrushes delivered up to room for us when we told her that we forgot ours. She also let us stow our bags during the day after we checked out of our room. We ate breakfast in the gorgeous dining room, which had huge windows with a view. Both of our meals were delicious! We thought that breakfast was served until 11 and not that the dining room closed at 11, so we unfortunately showed up at 10:40, but we were accommodated anyway. They were so nice about it. Our afternoon tea was so relaxing. Our server even gave me a fresh cup of tea to take on the train ride back with us. It was a perfect mini break from Dublin. We will definitely be back!

When we turned down MacCurtain Street, we realized that the whole street was under repair/renovation, but luckily there was no loud noises during our stay and it was still manageable to get in and out of the hotel (and the area in general). The construction may have also made the driving in that area more congested and stressful for driving but it wasn't too bad. The hotel manager said that the road work has been going on for over a year as the city is updating all of the sidewalks and streets. We could tell a noticeable difference between the unfinished side and the completed side, with the newer truly being quite nice. The hotel itself was large and fancy inside. I particularly loved the artwork and decor in the hotel hallways, featuring historical pictures of Cork and the River Liffey in black/whites. The decor was a little older and luxurious feeling so we were actually surprised at how fancy it felt. The hotel manager that checked us in was extremely friendly. We took 1 of 2 elevators/lifts up to the 3rd floor and were shocked when we realized our room would be river facing! The view from our room was pretty cool, being able to see the other side of this little city, the River Liffey, and many bridges. Being on the south side of the building, we also got a nice breeze and amazing sunset view on our second night. The hotel's amenities were very nice too. We were welcomed with a dessert tray in our room with some petite cheesecake bites, brownies and macarons. Yum! The room felt very clean, the bathroom was beautiful, clean and spacious. The beds were the most comfortable than our previous 2 hotels, and it also had plug-ins for a USB, and iron, hair dryer, and plenty of closet space. Once the construction ends, I imagine this place will go up in price and be even more attractive of a option for lodging. For more recommendations and tips from our Ireland trip... Follow @vanmblin

Thankfully they had a lift (elevator) as we had 3 weeks worth of stuff. We decided to consolidate the next couple days into our smaller suitcase. But our room had another room as you come in. Plenty of room to store our 6 bags without being in our way. The beds were firmer than we are used to. But we slept well. Room was quiet and dark. Shower bath had excellent water pressure. Staff were so welcoming and helpful. Definitely get their breakfast!!! We didnt have time to try the spa. Park is included but have to walk a couple blocks. Wish we were staying longer here. Cute town. Lovely cathedrals. Castle. Strolled the River walk. Dinner Matt the Miller.

On my last day before I departed from Cork I decided to go back for more. Unfortunately, they had none of the scones that day BUT they had the most amazing Gluten-Free chocolate something muffin. I thought the scone was good but THIS was phenomenal. Spongy, soft, melt in your mouth goodness. I was going to take a few home with me on the plane but they only had one left! It paired extremely well with a latte!

The…read moreonly thing is our room was facing the Main Street, so it was quite loud in the evening, as you're right over the pubs and nightlife. You are in the heart of the Victorian Quarter, so I suppose that comes with the territory. There was a challenge with the in-room entertainment as the streaming kept either buffering or going in-and-out. One callout is that the hotel does not offer onsite parking, however, they do offer a sight discount for a parking garage they partner with, but that garage--surprisingly--isn't the closest one to the hotel. It's a few blocks away, so that's was a bummer hauling our luggage.

When we arrived at the reception we were greeted by Laura who was out guardian angel at the hotel. She provided us with many hints of what to do from the perspective of a local and assisted us with our problem. The great: The location is excellent. It's a short, 5-10 minute walk to the center of the city. It's close but at the same time nice and quiet. It's also close to a great pub with music and coffee shop around the corner. Greenes restaurant is an easy choice for breakfast. I usually don't eat at hotel restaurants but frankly it's worth eating here. We went to another highly rated place for breakfast and Greenes was much better. And cheaper. Check out the buffet, there are also a la carte choices. The good: the room is spacious as is the bathroom, and the shower is lovely. The bed was comfortable, not to squishy. The problem: our room was very musty. to the point of being a problem. We told Laura about this and she brought an air purifier. This ran during our entire visit and made the situation tolerable. So that's it. Some very good, some not so good.

It's within walking distance to lots of restaurants, and the Cork English Market -Ice machine on every floor. We Americans love our ice! -Rooms and bathroom were pretty spacious -Crib available upon request (although we did request this ahead of time, and it was not set up until we arrived) -Mini fridge available upon request but it's SUPER small. It looks like it's meant to fit a few cans of soda, and it's not very cold - but anything is better than nothing Cons: -No parking. There's not even really a place for you to stop to unload your luggage. If you want "discounted" parking, it's a few blocks away, and there are no in and out privileges -There are a few steps leading up to the lobby, which makes it difficult to drag your luggage up. They do have a handicap lift but it doesn't work very well Overall, it was a good stay. If you're not renting a car/driving, it would be an even better stay. It looks a bit more modern than most of the other centrally-located Cork hotels.

We dropped it off at 9 am and it was back later that day. The bed was so comfortable but the pillows are hard. The shower was nice and the bathroom was large with a lot of space for all the things ladies like to bring on vacation.. We ordered food to our room one evening and to our surprise it was really delicious. The only thing I absolutely hated was that there is NO PARKING at the hotel. There a spot to unload your bags but the parking garage is at least a 10 minute walk. I really did not enjoy that. For one thing, it started raining on our way over to the car one day and we were soaked. Yes, we had rain coats and umbrellas but the wind was so terrible that it blew the umbrellas backwards. When we finally had to leave we walked over to get the car and it took forever to get back to the hotel because there is construction in front of the hotel and traffic is diverted. There was a lot of 1 way streets. I would definitely stay there again just because of the room and staff friendliness but I did not appreciate the parking situation.
