    The room at arrival

Great hotel! Went to Cork with work for three days and we stayed at the Clarion. The hotel rooms were very clean and fancy. TV, minibar, hairdryer, coffee maker and more. The breakfast buffet was also very good. A lot to choose of on the buffet. They served everything from fruit salad to English breakfast. The rest of the facility were in great shape and high class. They had a spa with pool, a gym, a restaurant and a pub. The hotel were located a short walk from all the great pubs in the centre of town.

The staff was beyond nice and helpful. They were friendly, welcoming and helpful! The hotel is modern and well decorated as well as comfy and homey; the best of both worlds. The carmelized biscuits left in the room for guests are delicious! I wish I could find them in the states. The location of the hotel was perfect it was within close walking distance of the best stores and resturants the city has to offer. Also, the bus stop is just down the block which made it very easy to walk to the bus just after breakfast at the hotel and go to the city we were touring for the day. The only negative I found at the hotel was the breakfast wasn't very good and it was kind of expensive. It was an all you can eat buffet so I guess that is why the cost is so high but I found the eggs disgusting because they were so soupy. However, the staff in the resturant were extremley helpful and accommodating.

    An extra twin.

This is unprecedented for me, I wait to write my reviews after my stay. I am so disappointed in this hotel right now and I was so hoping for a lovely venue. After a very long drive from The Cliffs of Moher, which were gorgeous btw, we found it very difficult to locate the hotel. I finally saw the name from across the river. We circled three different times, in crazy heavy traffic mind you, before we called the hotel to ask where the heck do we park. A very nice gentleman actually came outside to give us directions to the car park. The lovely young lady who checked us in was very pleasant and helpful. But, when we arrived at our room, HUGE disappointment. It's a little on the shabby side, I'm fine with that. I am not fine with the claustrophobic feel inside as the "view" is the bar/lobby. We did go down into that bar for a Guinness and desert, which were tasty. Then back up to our cave of a room where I finally noticed there were no wash clothes. I called for someone to bring some up, was told there would be a 20 minute wait time. I'm still waiting, I used a large hand towel to wash my face. The shower itself leaked water from the half stall door onto the floor and then there's the mold. Seriously, a little tilex will get rid of that quickly. I'm hoping for a miraculous change of heart (from me), I really wanted this to be nice. To recap, the hotel staff has been great. The facilities, not so much. Since this is a business trip, I will notify the company to choose a different hotel for other company members.

    Large common area.

Very nice hotel. I did not like the Event staff. They were very hard to deal with. Not sure I could recommend this place for an Event.

    Moxy - Queen bed room

    Moxy

I stayed at the Moxy in Cork just for two nights and I really enjoyed myself. This is a brand new…read moreMoxy which I assume took over another former hotel. The place is really nice inside with lots of updates and the trendy decor you'd expect from a Moxy. I've stayed in a few Moxy hotels in NYC and enjoyed my stays. The rooms are always small but economical with plenty of storage for such a small space. That is exactly how this Moxy was, too. The bed was very comfy and the TV had the best selection of channels I experienced from any hotel in Ireland during my stay. There's a desk that folds out from the wall, a small stool, a nook with a seat, and hooks for you to hang your clothes. I really appreciated the lighting since it wasn't just overwhelming overhead lighting. The location is unbeatable as well. Right in the middle of Cork overlooking the river. There's plenty of great bars and restaurants on that side of the river but even more fun places to explore across the way. Everything I wanted to eat and drink was no more than a 15 minute walk away. The reason for the four stars is that the shower, while very nice upon first look, leaked water onto the floor. This was one of the only hotels I saw in Ireland which had a full glass shower door which closed (hallelujah!) but it somehow STILL leaked water onto the ground. Upon brief inspection, I believe the cause may be some sort of construction error. The glass didn't seem to be properly fitted. The other issue I had was with the bathroom door. It's one of those annoying barn doors which slides and this particular door would get stuck and jam if closed all the way. Being alone in the room, this wasn't a make or break issue but if I was traveling with alongside someone, I'd definitely want that door to shut properly and I definitely wouldn't want to be concerned with how I'd get back out. The bar downstairs is really cute and I found all the staff members to be absolutely delightful. From check-in to cocktails to asking questions about the bus system and mailing a postcard, every single staff member was so friendly and helpful. I especially enjoyed my time spent with the bartenders, Olivia and Chris, who provided great drinks and even greater conversation. Being that it's a new hotel, I'm guessing there's just a few kinks that need to be worked out in terms of construction. I'd probably still return despite those issues. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

I wanted to take a moment to recognize Mark Tobin at the Residence Inn & Moxy Hotels in Cork for…read morehis outstanding customer service. My sister, a recent widow, was traveling with her daughter--who is studying abroad in Ireland--and her son. When they arrived at the hotel, they discovered that all the rooms at the Moxy only accommodate two people. As a Titanium member with over 100 nights at Marriott last year, I travel frequently, yet I had never stayed at a Moxy before and didn't realize this detail wasn't clearly stated on the website. To complicate matters, both the Moxy and its sister hotel were fully booked. The only option given was to book a second room, which wasn't ideal for their situation and would have doubled their travel budget. My sister called me in tears, unsure of what to do. That's when I reached out and spoke with Mark. He was smart, kind, and incredibly resourceful. Despite the sold-out status, he went above and beyond--checking carefully until he found a solution. He located a room at the Residence Inn that was out of service due to a minor issue (a hairdryer needed replacing) and was able to move my sister and her family there. This completely saved the day and made all the difference for my sister during an already emotional trip. Instead of simply saying, "We're sold out," Mark took the extra steps to find a solution--something that should be the gold standard in hospitality. His efforts should be recognized and celebrated. Marriott prides itself on exceptional service, and Mark truly embodies that. Thank you, Mark, for your professionalism, kindness, and dedication to guests. I hope Marriott acknowledges and rewards your excellence!

It's within walking distance to lots of restaurants, and the Cork English Market -Ice machine on every floor. We Americans love our ice! -Rooms and bathroom were pretty spacious -Crib available upon request (although we did request this ahead of time, and it was not set up until we arrived) -Mini fridge available upon request but it's SUPER small. It looks like it's meant to fit a few cans of soda, and it's not very cold - but anything is better than nothing Cons: -No parking. There's not even really a place for you to stop to unload your luggage. If you want "discounted" parking, it's a few blocks away, and there are no in and out privileges -There are a few steps leading up to the lobby, which makes it difficult to drag your luggage up. They do have a handicap lift but it doesn't work very well Overall, it was a good stay. If you're not renting a car/driving, it would be an even better stay. It looks a bit more modern than most of the other centrally-located Cork hotels.

We dropped it off at 9 am and it was back later that day. The bed was so comfortable but the pillows are hard. The shower was nice and the bathroom was large with a lot of space for all the things ladies like to bring on vacation.. We ordered food to our room one evening and to our surprise it was really delicious. The only thing I absolutely hated was that there is NO PARKING at the hotel. There a spot to unload your bags but the parking garage is at least a 10 minute walk. I really did not enjoy that. For one thing, it started raining on our way over to the car one day and we were soaked. Yes, we had rain coats and umbrellas but the wind was so terrible that it blew the umbrellas backwards. When we finally had to leave we walked over to get the car and it took forever to get back to the hotel because there is construction in front of the hotel and traffic is diverted. There was a lot of 1 way streets. I would definitely stay there again just because of the room and staff friendliness but I did not appreciate the parking situation.

Thankfully they had a lift (elevator) as we had 3 weeks worth of stuff. We decided to consolidate the next couple days into our smaller suitcase. But our room had another room as you come in.
