Yep, the previous reviewers are all correct, this store is a blight upon Hermosa Beach. How such a crappy store with rude and insolent employees exists in such an idyllic town as Hermosa is beyond me. Yes, the young fat guy is rude, the old guy w`/ a crew-cut is rude, ("we can't give you a full refund for that even tho' it's only a few bucks, and you bought it less than 30 mins. ago and returned it with the bag and receipt, cause you used a debit-card and we lose money on debit-cards...." I've come here a lot since it's so close but today I was told there were no refunds for a wrench I wanted to purchase. That is, even if I brought it back within 5 minutes because it was the wrong size, I couldn't exchange it. I left, went to Redondo Marine Hardware, and behold, they actually allow you to return things that don't work. Bad business model, Triangle, I was a loyal customer and now I'm never coming back (along with a lot of previous reviewers). Edit: upgrading this a bit since I've been in recently and it seems like a different kind of store in terms of service. They've gotten more customer friendly and now I'm pretty much used to walking in with random broken stuff and asking them how to replace it. I generally try to steer my business toward small businesses but I see why crotchety old guys running stores like this one in particular are going out of business. I'll never go back here again. The service is a joke, and the employees are terribly rude. Yesterday I went in to seek some help or guidance with a problem I had with some stripped screws. I brought the small parts in with me that had the stripped out screws. Upon walking in there was a heavy set man behind the counter watching tv, and another long haired guy with glasses ringing up a customer. I waited in line after the person checking out so I could ask them some questions about what to do or what I needed for this. Once the long haired glasses guy was finished ringing up the customer, he looked at me and walked away from the counter and then literally just stood looking out the front door. The heavier set guy sat at the other end of counter not looking away once from the tv he was watching. I waited for a minute then started to look at stuff on the wall next to me which was drill bits and such that I thought I could use. After finally calling out "hello?" to both guys after a few minutes had gone by of them aimlessly talking about the news, the long haired glasses guy came back to the register annoyed. I explained my problem and showed him the parts that had the stripped screws. Without a word, he grabbed something off the wall and threw it down on the counter in front of me...no explanation of what it was. When I asked what I need to do with this, he was clueless, he just said "this is what you need." I asked if I needed anything else for it and he said "what else do you need?" At this point I was pissed and told him "I'm asking you, what do I need to fix this." When I read on the package of the extractor bit for some sign of help it said it needed to be used with a 5/32" drill bit. When I mentioned that to him, again without a word he grabbed a 5/32" drill bit off the wall and slammed it down like he did the first one. I should've immediately just walked out at that point and had not given them any money, but I had no time to drive around somewhere else and needed to fix this. When I got home, both items he told me I needed were in fact the wrong size, and only worsened the problem with the screws. Today I went in first chance I had to bring back the items and to tell them it was the wrong size and wrong thing I needed. I walked up and the same employee was just standing there staring outside. He followed me in and to the register where I was standing. I told him my dilemma and without a word he just started ringing up the register for a refund as I was talking. He slammed the money down on the counter without a single "sorry" "I apologize" "can I offer you something else?" I grabbed my money without a word and walked out to head to Home Depot where I'll take my business from now on. read more

Horrible customer service with limited selection and far better choices nearby. Today was the last straw after 18 years of steadily declining service and I will never go back to Triangle Hardware. When purchasing a trim to match one I brought to the store, a clerk offered to cut my piece to match the one I bought. The obese salesman referenced in prior YELP posts overheard our conversation and ordered the clerk to not cut the trim because it was not purchased at the store. The message: "We are here for sales and not to help." I then drove to Kurt True Value Hardware (2404 Artesia Blvd., Redondo Beach, CA) where the staff could not have been more helpful and the inventory is far larger. read more

Very helpful local hardware store. The owner was friendly and went out of his way to assist me in finding the correct tool. This is very refreshing compared to the lack of service at a big box store like Home Depot or Lowes. Being in Triangle Hardware reminded me of the old school store that my grandpa took me to. I give one star for the location since it was close to where I live. I was recently given a parking citation there even though I was in their store and a PAYING CUSTOMER. I tried to appeal the citation and emailed the owner about my dispute but never got anywhere with it. After shopping there and get a ticket for it, I will no longer be coming here for anything, and I will be sure that others know not to shop here as well. read more

I will have to agree with the previous reviewer although the employee that I was complaining about in particular was not old. I went in today to find three screws for the base of an LCD tv. He was a blatant jerk. I told him I didn't need his attitude and walked out. If you do decide to go in there stay away from the heavy young guy. What an ass. Also the long hair rocker guy is a jerk too. There's an asian guy that's really nice and helpful although I don't think he works during the weekend. Hopefully the owner will fire the others and start rebuilding what he's got left of a reputation. I drove down to Anza hardware where they actually like people purchasing from them. Went there a week ago to get key made. The guy at the counter told me they didn't carry the blank but if I brought in the right blank he could cut it. Found the blank in a standard blank catalog, Ordered the blank, brought it in but this time some cro-magnon told me their boss told them they can't cut a blank from another source. This was not some double cut odd key. No transponder chip or anything like that. This was a standard key blank that they chose not to stock in their store. So I went to Woods Ace Hardware in Torrance and they cut it without any hesitation. From now on my business is going to Woods Ace. This place was recommended to me by a contractor friend. I came in for two little machine screws and lock nuts, and staff helped me find the right ones (in fact they approached me to help -- which was refreshing). Super helpful and had what I needed. Several trips to Home Depot where the screws were a mess and out of stock... I'll be coming back here from now on. Great to see small hardware stores still in business, and now I know why. read more

I went here the other day to get a 2 window screens re-screened, 1 window screen made and a large screen door re-screened. They said it would be ready the next day and replied that I need them by 9am and they said they'd try but they're very busy. About an hour later I get a call that they are ready! They seem like they care about their customers (which is rare now days) and very well priced. Highly recommended! read more

The woman that helped me was at a bit of a loss, but took me to the proper part of the store and then consulted with a colleague on which spray to get. They ARE a small store but have a little bit of everything and am typically in and out in less than 10 minutes. Everyone there is friendly and helpful. I manage several rentals in the area and it is nice having this store conveniently located there instead of having to drive to Home Depo, which is an hour plus round trip. They usually have the things I need and I have found the employee's to be attentive and helpful. I just called there asking if they had 1/8 hardboard to replace some drawer bottoms and the guy said he didn't have that but went looking for other alternatives - at least he tried to come up with a solution. read more

Great experiences at Triangle Hardware! I go there because it's local to Hermosa and it's way easier than dealing with the madness of parking and people at Home Depot. I've been pleased to find that almost everything I need is there. I find myself walking in there almost once a month for the most random stuff: ladders, hose attachments, garden tools, screws, piping, jumper-cables, paint...and whatever else I need to use to help fix what I've ruined at my house. I go to Triangle all the time. The guys there are very quick and helpful. And the prices seem to be the same as for Orchard. It is a great place to go if you want to be in and out in 3 minutes. And as far as attitude, last Sunday I walked down there with my 3 year old daughter. She was clowning around a bit, and the guy behind the counter asked me if it was OK to let her have a bag of M & Ms off of the rack, on him. I thought that was really nice. read more

This is a great, old-fashioned neighborhood hardware store. Many of these types of hardware stores have gone out of business over the years due to the crush of Home Depot, and other large chain stores. But they really have almost anything you need here for even more ambitious projects. And there are always friendly staff roaming the isles willing to answer questions or find what you need. Triangle is an excellent hardware store. Chuck and Brian are helpful, professional, and courteous. Every time I've been here I've found what I've needed at a competitive price. I will continue to be a customer at Triangle as long as I'm in this neighborhood. It is a fantastic local hardware store! I read the other two reviews -and have to disagree. I know the two employees he mentioned can be brusque, but both have gone out of their way to help me. Curmudgeons add atmosphere to the neighborhood hardware store -it's a great tradition. I often dash in on my way to work -and know I can count on this great store. I'm very surprised at the reviews I just read. I was looking for the store hours to log into my phone and went to the site; thought I might find it in a review because it's not posted. I have never had anything other than good service there. Everyone has been helpful and they seem to know their stuff. I like the old town feel, they have so much there; more probably because it's old. I'd recommend it to anyone. I'm not sure what the other people's problems were but I had none and will continue to use the store. Now to call them to get their hours for that emergency repair job. :) read more

I've known Sonny, the owner, for many years-ever since he bought the biz from John the Hardware Man I want to say about 20 years ago. He's by far my favorite hardware guy. Talk about helpful hardware man--he and his very knowledgeable staff (there are usually at least 3 on hand at any time) are truly helpful---even to this experienced 30 year veteran of apartment maintenance. I can't stump these guys, and they always have what I need at the right price. You won't find parts missing in a faucet box here like you will at Home Depot. You are in and out quickly and you will find them very friendly-they value you as a customer. I am in there at least once a week and I have never walked out with a bad feeling at this establishment. read more

Been going to Triangle for many years.....because I always get good technical advice on my projects....especially from Sonny the owner. And, if they don'y have a needed part in stock, they can often order it for you. I even ordered a new garage door opener from Sonny, and they matched the online price. Bottom line....if you have a good attitude, they will work with you and try to come up with a creative solution. Way better than Home Depot! read more
