I went to Dr Yaplee because another major eye group basically told me I could live with issues. My vision decreased so bad in over the past year it was scary to drive. The first time I saw Dr Yaplee he made me feel justified in perusing a second opinion. I could not see the 65" tv without squinting. One month ago I had cataract surgery on my right eye. Yesterday my left eye. The world is brighter than I remember. It's so great to see again. Triangle Eye is a very busy office. Dr. Yaplee is the only provider in this office and he goes nonstop. There may be a wait. But believe me he is definitely worth waiting for. The staff was always kind. I recommend this office highly. Had an appointment last week 6/17/2026, I stated I was 31 weeks pregnant, they proceed to tell me to come back today (06/24/2026) so I did just that. I was told I have two oil cysts on my eye and had to be removed, to which I agreed. I got to the institute at around 8:40, my appointment was at 9:15. I decided to walk out at 11:40 because the ophthalmologist, Dr. Steven M. Yaplee told me he preferred not to proceed with the procedure due to me being pregnant, and lidocaine being part of the procedure we decided to just wait a few more weeks. I was very disappointed and extremely dissatisfied with today's events. Being 32 weeks pregnant, that last thing I need is to be stressed out and feeling extremely annoyed. I am not sure if this was the staffs fault or the doctors, but I sat there and just completely wasted my time. I will not be going back, and I would NOT recommend such an unorganized setting and staff. The staff and ophthalmologist were and had been completely aware of my pregnancy and still decided to proceed to have me come back, booked 10+ people and myself at around the same time. read more

If I could give zero stars I would on July 7, 2023. Dr. Yaplee talked me into doing some kind of surgery that he said would help with my glaucoma. I followed Dr. follow up orders exactly as stated. From the minute I left the surgery center in Delano my eye was hemorrhaging. I ended up going to a specialist which I thought would be for a short time until the situation was fixed. Eventually, the retina specialist stopped the hemorrhaging, but was unable to bring the eyesight back to the way it was before Dr. Yaplee preformed the surgery. The state of depression I have been in has been absolutely beyond upsetting. This has changed my life in ways in more ways than I could even begin to explain.. not good ways‍ read more

My husband had two seperate surgeries on his eyes (Cataract) My husband (including myself) were 100 % happy with the results Dr Yaplees' and his entire staff are very caring, and accomodating. My husband is wheelchair bound, that did not stop Dr Yaplee or his staff from accomodating my husbands physical mobility issue, and still got the job done There is nothing Dr. Yaplee or his staff can't or won't do to get the job done no matter the situation. I'm so thankful for Dr. Yaplee and his staff. I came in on an emergency eye infection and in severe pain and discomfort. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. Dr. Yaplee was able to diagnose my condition and provided sample medication to help get me through the evening until my pharmacy order was ready. He was very careful and gentle when examining my eye as he can sense my fear and discomfort with the condition I was experiencing. All this waiting, and for what? Spent three hours here with at least a dozen other poor souls condemned to wait an unreasonable time just to have a 5-10 minute consultation with the doctor. Why overbook to this extent? 10:30 appointment and you aren't even seen until after 12:30. Very disrespectful of people's time. The people and services are amazing. They have state of the art equipment for aesthetics. They are the only place in Bakersfield with the Opus Plasma equipment, and the results are staggering!! Dr Steven Yaplee is very cordial and quite knowledgeable, but the office staff who do prescription refills is atrocious. Two years ago now looking like the same scenario and left me hanging for weeks without a glaucoma refill and again the same thing seeming to happen now! Humana has for the second week placed numerous faxes to them requesting the OK to send a glaucoma medication (latanaprost) refill but they do not respond. The yelp reviews on the office staff is about the worst I have ever seen and I agree. Called Humana and filed a grievance,... what next state medical board or qualcare/centric their overseer...or someone, anyone to protect basic patient rights from greedy uncaring health providers:-( read more

Only a one star for the ONE nice tech I encountered here. My grandma had a appointment at 12:45. We didn't get called in until 2:20 to pretest. Then they had us wait in an inside waiting for another almost 2hrs. It wasn't until I asked when my grandma was being called that they decided to look for her chart(they misplaced it for 20 minutes) then told us we were next. We didn't even see the doctor until 4:15 Everyone had been waiting for hours. It's unfortunate coming from someone who also works in the eye industry. No one has time to wait for hours a day, but they have no choice when they're coming here for big eye issues. The staff needs a makeover so they're happy & kind and more patient with more patients seeing as they're elderly & going through enough. The other woman I encountered had rude tones. & couldn't even ATLEAST check in on people and show compassion or let people know that theirs a wait.. etc. just silence walking back and forth adding to the wait room. Update- I wrote a review a week or so ago about this place and how they have absolutely zero follow through with anything. I stated that I would be changing eye doctors because of it. Well, that and the fact that they think it is okay to let the patients sit in their waiting room growing roots into the floor. I found and contacted another eye doctor and made an appointment. I asked them to please request my records from Triangle Eye Institute at the time I made the appointment so they would have them two weeks later at my scheduled appointment date. (Bet you can all guess where I am going with this). I was told I would have to sign some paperwork before they could request my records. I made a point to drive to the new doctor's office and sign the necessary paperwork so that two weeks later when I came in for my appointment they would already have all of my records from Triangle Eye Institute. Fast forward two weeks...I just left my new eye doctor's office. I was great! I was in and out in a little under an hour. And I had more time with the eye doctor to boot! Dr. Banihasmemi (Dr. Ali for short) was incredibly professional and competent. I was able to ask all the questions I needed to and not feel rushed. I feel very confident that I am in good hands with this doctor. The office staff was really nice and actually knew what they were doing. But the point of this whole update to say that even after two weeks Dr. Yaplee's staff STILL had not managed to walk over to a fax machine and send my records over. SMH. But you what? I dont even care, they can keep them and if I wasn't as polite as I am I would suggest a place where they could put them. This new eye doctor has his own groove going on and will get me all dialed in without so much as a hiccup, with or without my records from Dr. Yaplee's office. So glad I moved on. read more

Came here as a patient to get an eye exam and was pleased to come down from Tulare to see a good eye doctor who takes the time to understand and hear me out. The staff were friendly and very attentive. And the medical assistant was very informative in regards to what she was doing. I have never received such great care from an eye doctor facility. I am not docking the Triangle Eye Institute for 3 hour appointment...after my first one I made sure to hire a transportation service and leave my husband and dog at home not out in the parking lot for 3 hrs. Today everything was DIFFERENT! The receptionist was rude because I arrived 40 minutes early...I live (like many seniors) 1 1/2 he drive away & don't want to be late...she ended up checking me in & reminded me of my appointment time. I ended up being called back 40 minutes BEFORE my scheduled appointment. I had seen Dr Yaplee and was on my way home over an hour before I expected to. No star. I was there for over 3 hours for an appt, at the beginning a 45 min. wait to get into a room and then the ophthalmologist was running back & forth between rooms, but not MINE. The only reason I stayed was because the nurse at the 45 minute mark was a kick. Then the next time I came and even though I called to see if they were backed up which they were of course, the front desk wants me to check in at my appt time and wait an hour and a half THERE. 20 people are in the waiting room squeezed together. I went outside and she calls my cell right away and accusatorily says, "did you leave the premises?" R u 4 real? I said, "what r u, my supervisor? Do I get a bad mark in my file?" Also there is a dog there in the office which is not hygienic; not a service dog; it's all puffy and dyed pink. I'm calling the insurance to see if they can switch my numerous authorizations to a different doctor. Do better Triangle!!! read more

When I asked the front how long more to be seen she replied 15-30 minutes.... I said We've been here already for there for 3 hours and she said do you want to take him with you?? He doesn't have to be here...... so rude! I did mentioned he is a diabetic. We scheduled an early appointment so they wouldn't be so backed up but they cater to inmates before patients! I feel bad for people who do not have someone who can advocate for them! We waited over 3 hours to be seen! I repeat STAY AWAY from this place! The Doctor put eye drops and sent him on his way. I will never return to this facility. At my first appointment I waited over 2 hours before being seen. Prior to seeing Dr. Yaplee, other tests were performed; however, one of the machines was not working. Once I saw Dr. Yaplee, he spent less than 10 minutes with me and his diagnosis was the same as he gave to 2 other patients. I know this because the doors were not closed. Perhaps this is a HIPAA violation. On the second visit I waited nearly 2 hours and again a machine was inoperable. Dr. Yaplee spent less than 5 minutes with me and was rude when I asked a question. At the 3rd appointment, I waited nearly 3 hours (once again a machine was inoperable). When the 3 hour mark approached I asked the gentleman next to me what time his appointment was....and it was an hour before mine which meant I would be sitting at least another hour. That was it, I got up, announced that I wasn't taking this anymore and the crowded waiting area applauded. I went to the receptionist and told her I would be leaving and she told me I would not be billed. I replied, "I better not be billed for any of the appointments". She advised I would not. What a laugh, I received a bill and when I called they referred me to their billing service who advised I was seen so I had to pay. This office did nothing for me except waste my time. DO NOT go here. People were waiting so long they were falling asleep. I know for a fact that Steven and Bethany Yaplee do not tolerate this from other professionals. They demand that they be seen when they want and will not wait yet they make their patients wait hours and then receive little to no time with the rude doctor. They book appointments at 10 minute intervals and cram patients into the waiting areas like cattle. Read all the negative comments....they are spot on! read more

Dr. Yaplee has performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes. The first surgery was in 2017, and the second eye was worked on November 2020. The surgeries were quick and painless, and results were excellent. Consultations in the office are professional and informative. I am very happy with the care I receive from Dr. Yaplee and his staff, and will continue to use this office in the future as eye care needs arise. read more

One of the most poorly managed offices I've ever witnessed in my entire life! I came here on 3 separate occasions to try to see Dr. Yaplee. The first time, the staff said the doctor was out of the country for an undetermined amount of time. Second time (3 weeks later) the secretary informed me that all the staff had been fired and there was a 3 hour wait, something I could not wait 3 hours for. Third and final time (4 weeks later) the inmates from the prison came in to get their eyes checked, so everyone's wait time got pushed back for 4 hours; 4 HOURS?!?!? They neglected to inform the other patients and myself ahead of time that prison inmates would be getting their eyes checked the same day our appointments were. After 3 strikes, you're out! If there was zero stars, I would rate this place a zero. Highly UNORGANIZED staff, especially the front desk. I called to reschedule my appointment and was put on hold 5 times. Every time someone picked up the phone those 5 times, I was asked what I needed help with. I got fed up and asked if I need to explain myself multiple times. It's a small office, people should be communicating. I can probably write a novel about the multiple times I've notice how unorganized their staff are. People in the front need to be retrained. There was this one instance when the doctor had to go up to the front and say multiple times the price I should be charged because of my insurance. Having been a patient at TEI over the last 3 years I understand the comments about long delays. While I have been very happy with Dr Yaplee's professionalism I was starting to get used to the 2 1/2 hour appointments. Not so anymore ... Dr Wang has arrived ... I recently underwent my annual checkup. I was on the examination chair within 15 minutes of arriving. Dr Wang introduced himself and his very capable assistant Heather and I was out the door within 30 minutes. And that was allowing for the many questions I had about current eye health care practices. Don't be fooled by his youthful exterior ... he displays remarkable depth of knowledge and understanding for such a young professional. He was quite willing to find the best cost solution so as to minimize my out of pocket expenses. His friendly and professional staff made my visit a pleasure. read more

Service was slow. Poor quality service from the opticians (the ophthalmologist was fine). I ordered glasses and contact lenses and they were unable to figure out their billing even though I had two different vision plans. My name was spelled incorrectly in my patient information, as well as my address. I got a bill for more money a full year AFTER I went there, so I do not believe they did their full job in processing my insurance. I ended up paying cash for the contact lenses and they were much more expensive than 3 other ophthalmologists I have gone to. I would not come back here and I would not recommend this business to others. read more
