I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this establishment. I visited on three separate occasions, and each time I felt that I was treated poorly and unfairly, particularly during my interactions with the front-office staff. As a Black woman, these repeated experiences left me feeling unwelcome and discriminated against. In addition to the customer service issues, I experienced problems with my prescription not being handled correctly, and I later developed an eye infection, which was extremely concerning and frightening. What made the situation even more frustrating was my attempt to contact the office for assistance. My calls were repeatedly forwarded or went unanswered. However, when I called from a different phone number, my call was answered. This only added to my concerns about how I was being treated. Based on my personal experiences, I felt that I was treated differently because of my race. I have submitted a complaint regarding my concerns because I believe this situation deserves to be taken seriously. I would strongly encourage people of color to carefully consider my experience before choosing this establishment. No patient should ever leave a healthcare facility feeling ignored, disrespected, or discriminated against--especially when they are seeking help with their health. read more

Hello, I had a disappointing experience during my first visit as an independent adult, and haven't been in years . At check-in, I gave my insurance details (I'm double-covered). The blonde woman at the front desk asked me to sign for an Optima eye exam without clearly explaining that it was optional, and I felt pressured because they highlighted their latest equipment, and I assumed it was standard. Five days later, I learned from a family member that my deductible/copay had already been met, so I shouldn't have owed anything. When I called to inquire, another staff member told me that "a copay and deductible are separate," which came across as dismissive and made me feel foolish for asking. In reality, once the deductible is met, additional copays for covered services shouldn't apply in this way. The lack of clear communication about the optional nature of the exam and the billing left a bad taste. If patients are going to be made to feel uninformed or stupid when they question charges, I won't be returning. P.S. As a 19-year-old, I also found it strange to be recommended (and charged for) this extra exam when I've had no prior eye issues. It left me wondering why it was pushed so strongly at my age. read more

The worst sevice. The sales person had no interest in helping us. I asked for help finding a pair that would support my daughter's prescription. All she said was "Well the type of glasses that will suit her prescription all over the place so I can't help her pick out a pair." Turns out she was waiting on relief for her lunch break. I guess since he wasn't going to get a commission she wasn't interested in helping. The sales person who relieved her was kind and helpful. He understood our concerns. I brought my son here since his old optometrist decided to focus on specialty services. Total disappointment because we loved her. Moving on. Premier Eye Care overall was great, everything from making the appointment, the appointment itself and picking out glasses. I have no complaints about the service itself; however, I have a small qualm. I have autoimmune disorders and I constantly have to have something to drink with my typically water or tea. When we arrived, I was told I could not keep my drink with me. This is two sided - I can see where they are coming from, but I also need to have fluids with me at all times otherwise I start to panic and feel like crap. I have been coming here for five years. My wife came to get her exam here and her prescription was completely different from her prescription a year ago. Upon ordering glasses elsewhere, we came to the conclusion that her prescription was wrong! Instead of fixing it, they said 3 months had passed so they had to charge us $75. This place is money hungry, they will even add all the extra stuff onto your glasses until you ask them about the charges. Go somewhere else. read more

This place has trouble providing eye care to our family. Since 2017 they have had a pattern of not letting us know when glasses came in. There has been a very few exceptions. The latest order was for two pairs of glasses and lenses for another pair of glasses. The lenses and one pair came in like a week ago. This week I checked twice on the missing glasses and today they lied to me. I was told someone would check on the missing glasses and someone would call me to let me know why it is taking so long. Well no one called, of course, that is the primary problem with this place- one way communication. They are much too unprofessional to actually call me back like they said they would. I really wish they did not already have my money, I would say forget the liars at Premier Eye Care who seem to have such a hard time using a phone. EDIT 9/3/24. I've worn glasses for decades and have been to many, many eye doctors. My recent visit to Premier Eyecare was one of the best experiences I've had. All of the staff were professional and courteous. The best part, though, was working with Mario to choose my new glasses. He was patient, helpful and I left feeling very confident in my choice. Two weeks later, I was surprised at how easy it was to pick up my new glasses. In the past, I've always needed tweaks (tightening, straightening, etc) when picking up glasses, but not this time. I put them on and they fit perfect from the start. Overall, this was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend Premier if you need glasses. read more

Big open clean everything in its place office. It was my first visit to this office. They were promt with my appointment time. Was taken into a room to do the routine measuring of the eyes and what not. Then taken into the exam room doctor came in. Very nice very knowledgeable. No time waisted sitting around like most places. But no rushing either. Got my prescriptions and was on my way within 30 mins. The only thing I noticed was there was absolutely no hello , welcome, how are you today... none of that. They weren't rude either. But i know people who actually require greetings and small talk. To each his own it didn't bother me that they weren't friendly. However upon leaving The lady at the information desk did wish me a good day. From the minute I walked into this office I was pretty impressed. I live in Delano and had the same Eye Doctor, Dr. Dedonado since childhood. Dr. Dedonado retired last year sometime, so I avoided choosing someone else until my vision worsened. I did some research and eventually chose this place. I wasn't used to all the updated technology but it was nice having a thorough exam. Dr. Miller was very personable, knowledgeable, and didn't seemed rushed. He took the time to explain my needs and handed me off to Fern who would go over my prescription and choosing a frame. Fern was also very knowledgeable. She wasn't pushy and helped me choose a great pair of new glasses that complimented my face. I was in and out of there in less than an hour. I was never pressured or felt obligated to pay for anything extra. So excited to get my glasses! read more

My husband and I knew we were in need of new reading glasses and we didn't know where to go to get the best frames. So we both researched several locations in Bakersfield. Finally we found Premier Eyecare Optometircs and Decided to go check it out. Their staff was very friendly and super helpful. We weren't sure as to what our insurance covered and or how much? They were able to help us with that in no time. We looked around for frames and Noticed they had a large variety of frames. Once we had our prescription and found our frames we sat down and were given prices. We were told that our glasses would be ready within 7-10 business days, they arrived within a week. When we went in to pick them up, we were asked if they needed adjustments and provided us with a bag that contained additional cleaning wipes and cleansing liquid. I would definitely recommend Dr Miller. I have an autoimmune disorder which causes dry eyes and I needed glasses . I'm 31 and he was the first dr to listen to me and to actually do something about my dry eyes (and did the proper tests). I go in next week for tear duct plugs (which I am terrified of) but the appointment was super easy and not as bad as I imagined. read more

I love this place, had recently taken my husband to Stanton to take advantage of their two pairs plus eye exam for $59, what a joke. We waited for almost an hour and was pretty much ignored all to be seen by a virtual eye doctor and their choice of frames were laughable. Premier is clean, open, staff is super friendly and wait time is 5-10 min. Eye doctor was a real person, very knowledgeable. Was met with the optician immediately after the exam. Fern was super helpful and friendly. She took all the time I wanted to spend shopping for frames. Knows the insurance process well. I was in need of new glasses. I made an appointment much earlier this year for approximately a year out, put that appointment in my calendar, and made arrangements the day of to leave work early. I received a postcard with the confirmed date. Upon check-in, the receptionist let me know that, "Mmmm...you never confirmed your appointment. If you got the postcard, it says to call and confirm. You don't actually have an appointment, that was a reservation." I have been a patient here for many years and nothing like this has ever happened. She offered me another appointment later in the week, which I could not make. The system for making, confirming, and keeping appointments needs reform. I never received a postcard, text, or call letting me know that this appointment was not a go due to my lack of confirmation. I will not be returning. Never been called a dinosaur before. After years of going to Premier Eyecare, the last two years have been a distinct departure in patient care. Last year Dr Crawford ordered completely different contact lenses than what I require. Upon return to determine what the issue could be, he insisted it was my fault, related to placing in the wrong eye. Interesting since I wear the identical prescription in both sides. It required my insistence to correct the prescription to address my vision needs. This year I saw Dr Hawley. He entered the exam room not with a greeting or other patient/doctor long Term relationship (with good double coverage eye insurance), but rather: "I must say, you're quite the dinosaur. Out of thousands of contact lens wearers, you're one of just a handful that wear rigid gas-permeable lenses" I paused and said, "I don't think I've ever been called a dinosaur before. What options do I have, with my prescription? In any case, I just had a landmark birthday, so I'm a little sensitive about being called a dinosaur." He looked at my record (which he obviously had not done prior to entering into the exam room), and actually was unable to offer a different solution to my contact lens needs. He also noted that our birthdays are close together...... Has Dr Hawley become a dinosaur also? read more

Dr. Crawford did my eye exam, no issues with him at all, just seemed like he was in a rush. Once I was handed the prescription is when the experience started going downhill for me. The ladies at the front desk, as well as the ones that help you choose glasses, make you feel like you are annoying them with your questions. I've been a patient of Dr. Hawley's for several years and he is great. All of the staff are friendly and accommodating. On my most recent visit I was not eligible for coverage on frames through my insurance (every two years...lame!) but I really wanted a new pair of glasses. After selecting my frames and sitting down to go over the details, I was told I was being given a 20% discount as a courtesy for not getting any insurance assistance. 20%! Not just on the frames but on the lenses and everything. The discount was taken off the entire total. I also purchased a pair of Oakley sunglasses which were already $10 below what Oakley lists on their website and got 20% off that purchase as well. Needless to say, I was very grateful for this discount which they were not obligated to provide. Premier Eye Care definitely lives up to its name; it's premier. This place is top notch. They have an amazing selection of frames and they even have a return policy where if you decide you don't like the frames you bought you can return them one time for a new pair. I can't imagine going anywhere else and I wouldn't. Like another reviewer said, I also refer everyone I know to Premier Eye Care. Dr. Hawley is really great. I can't say enough good things about him. He's very nice and will take the time to answer any questions you have and doesn't answer them generically. I love Dr. Hawley and his staff. Theyre always super nice, helpful, and professional. I have a slightly different case, cornea issues, dry eyes, bad eyes, blah blah. Dr. Hawley patiently and painstakingly worked with me numerous times and figured out soft contact lenses wernt ideal for me and moved me to hard lenses. Also, the repeat customer service is amazing at his office. They service your glasses at no charge and one time they were able to switch out lenses from a broken frame to an old frame that I had purchased from them years ago. It saved me from buying new frames and quickly helped me in an emergency situation. The selection of frames is great and they offer a professional opinion on which frames look good with your face shape so you dont walk out purchasing expensive glasses that make you look crazy. The place is nice on the inside from what I can gather. I didn't get more than two steps in before the older lady sitting at the desk near the front doors offered to help. I told her I hadn't been here before but had my script and wanted to look into getting Oakley RX lenses. After a quick back and forth of several questions, we came to insurance. Once I gave the name of an unsupported provider, I was told they wouldn't be able to accept me. As I was handed back my script, a sly "that was easy" comment from her lips we're the last words I heard before leaving. No, it wasn't. Shame only one other opticians office in town can get these lenses. Still, that office took my cash purchase and filled out the paperwork for my insurance for an out-of-network claim as well. Should the office post a response to this review about how this isn't there norm and to contact them about my experience, I already did, via your websites contact form, including asking to be communicated back to.
