Staff is always very helpful and nice. They do take private insurance and cash. They don't accept medical. The optometrist is very nice and gives you a very descriptive explanation of your eye exam. The price for a pair of glasses can get pricey depending on what you get. The eye exam is comprehensive and detailed a lot more than other eye doctors. Dr. Shively is great. Not only is he knowledgable in his field, he has a calming presence making his patients feel safe and he is very helpful at answering all questions with thorough explanations. I haven't felt rushed during the eye exams (unlike other offices I've been too!), and the tech has been friendly. Dr. Shively referred me to an amazing Lasik surgeon as well, and for that I will be forever grateful! First I would like to start that I Love Yelp and the platform that lets us express exactly how we feel without have the owner of the business delete the review good or bad. Recently I went to BeSpectacled which I have been going pretty much since they opened. The office and staff and doctors have always treated us as one of their own except for that one day. Call it a bad day for the girl at the front desk or stress from COVID restrictions. In either case if the business had no idea what transpired and slowly started losing customers they would never know why or what needed to be addressed. That was the one and only reason I will ever leave a review that is negative. With that said BeSpectacled was very concern about what transpired that afternoon and has addressed the issue. The manager of the optical department contacted me later that same afternoon to find out what happened although I didn't go back in that afternoon I did return the next afternoon. I love going to this office and it bothers me when people use platforms like these to bash a business when the problem is the individual who takes no accountability. Today as I waited for my exam I witnessed a patient become frustrated and intolerable because they were not comprehending what was being explained to them. Every time we go to a doctor we are given a HIPPA form now, that explains that our personal medical data will not be released without our written consent. The form is a quick synopsis of the policy. If the patient wishes to further read the policy they provided with detail on how to obtain the policy, which this office did very professionally. The patient in question was expecting hand out and for this form to highlight every single detail. Come on lady, I know this isn't your first rodeo. Linda was very patient and professional in addressing this rude patient and it was nice to see the Office Manager had his staffs back. He saw this would be a difficult patient and refused service. It's that time of year again for daily check ups. BeSpectacled is an absolute joy to visit. My wife found them a few years ago and we went because they were close to work and took our insurance. I had been wearing glasses since the 5th grade and had always been hesitant about lasik when it was mentioned. Dr. G was really helpful and knowledgeable in the process and referred me to a specialist. I wish I had done it sooner! It's been 5 great years of not having to fumble around the nightstand every morning for my eyes! The service is so great that even if I was across town I would still come back. I remember back when we first started it was Dr. G , Andrew and the receptionist. Over the years they have continued to grow and gain more customers and staff but their service has never wavered and continues to remain top-notch. One of the few doctor visits I actually look forward to. Whoever decorates the office does a great job! (Farmhouse modern ? Is that a thing?) It reminds me of something out of HGTV. Overall good experience... doc and staff were friendly and nice. I took one star away because my son ripped his trial contact and his contacts aren't in yet. So, I called the office to find out if they would have a replacement until his order is in and they told me they didn't have anything close to his prescription available which is weird considering they had them on the day he was prescribed them so I thought that was a bummer and an excuse. Decided to check this place out since it's close to work and my doctor recently retired. Called the office to see if they were accepting new patients and took my insurance. Yes and yes. Made an appointment for my first day of Spring Break. I arrived and filled out paperwork. Saw Dr. Kyle Shively for a new prescription for contacts. He's very nice and thorough. He ordered sample contacts for me to try and told me the office would call when they came in and would make me an appointment for him to check them. Two weeks later, I called to see if the samples came in. I was put on hold and no one answered my call. Later that day, I got a text saying my contacts were in and to pick them up. Then, I got another text saying the wrong contacts had come in. Two weeks later, I got another text saying the samples were in and to make an appointment. I called. Put on hold, again, never answered. I went into the office after work. I told them about my phone call. They said the office had a new phone system and they were working out the bugs. They only had one lens, the right. They told me they'd text when the left came in. A week later it was in. I called to make an appointment, again put on hold, no answer. I showed up. They were able to see me. Dr. Graziano checked the fit of my samples. Told me try them for a week and then I could order. I didn't like the fit or the prescription of the right lens. I decided not to bother trying to make an appointment to get it adjusted. The process had been such a pain so far, I just wanted my contacts. A week later I went in. Told the woman at the front desk that I wanted to order lenses. I asked her what the price of a box cost and what my insurance covered. She told me they would cost almost four hundred dollars. That shocked me. I asked, again, what a box cost and how much my insurance covered. She got a little huffy. She told me they were $50 a box and insurance would cover $150. I ordered 4 boxes of the left lenses and paid $50. Two days later, I got a text saying my lenses were in. I went to pick them up. The woman had ordered left and right lenses. I reminded her that they were only supposed to be the left. She said she'd order them for me. I took the two boxes of the left. Two weeks later, I hadn't heard about my lenses. I called. Put on hold, no one came back. Decided I'd stop in after work. Later that day, I got a text saying my lenses were in. Picked them up. ****************** SAGA IS OVER! The doctors were great! Their phone system sucks! Office staff was as sick of seeing me as I was of seeing them. Funny how every time I called and got put on hold...FOREVER...I got a text the very same day...coincidence?! I never got a written prescription. Thought that was odd. I wasn't willing to make any more requests. I didn't want to prolong my crazy experience any longer. read more

I've never had to go back to an eye dr office 4 times to pick up my glasses. Okay it's only the 3rd today. But I will have to come back a 4th for the final pick up. I got some texts advising me of my appointment. I called the office to say I didn't need dilation if my eyes this time and only to pick up my glasses. Today, I went in for my appointment to get contacts and a new pair of glasses. It's been a while since I've been in to be seen and the customer service is better than ever. Front desk was very polite and checked me in quickly. I probably sat down for 2 minutes when I was called back. I prefer to wear contacts over glasses. I've been to several other Optometrists over the last 5 or 6 years and none them were unable to get me into contacts that would work for me. I either couldn't see properly, or they irritated my eyes too much. I was almost ready to give up wearing contacts completely. From the outside it looks very fancy, walked inside and still looks fancy, clean and professional. I came here because my nephew recommended it. I went to Sears and had a quote of how much it was gonna pay and the frames were mediocre, so I came here not expecting to get a better price. I had been going to Lenscrafters and using their optometrists for the past 3 yrs and they kept getting my prescriptions wrong on my contacts. The first dr. over-corrected, then the 2nd dr. noticed it and told me it was way too strong, then she under-corrected. Needless to say, I was irritated and didn't like driving 25 min to get there, knowing it'd be screwed up again. I started going to Bespectacled, which is very close to my home in NE Bakersfield, and what a world of difference! The husband and wife optometrists graduated from very good medical schools and I saw Dr. Graziano(?) She was so thorough, gave me an option of a new type of contact I'd never heard of that she could guarantee my vision would be back to 20/20. Lenscrafters never mentioned this new contact to me. It takes a learning process so you go in several times to learn how to use them. I opted not to get them right now as I was going overseas and with not knowing how sanitary the water is and that you only get one set of contacts that last an entire year, so you have to take extremely good care of them...and not lose them! So, I opted for the dailies since they're easier for flying and traveling. I love the staff there, too! I'm always greeted with a friendly smile and never have to wait long. When I went to pick up my new contacts, due to Covid-19, Dr. Graziano brought them out to my car herself! I encourage everyone to try Bespectacled. read more
