Dr. Miller has been my OD for the past 4 years. Initially when I came to him from another office I was having issues with my contacts. The ones I had been living with for years caused me discomfort and good vision wasn't a daily occurrence. The problem was mainly due to my high astigmatism. My previous OD couldn't help me and didn't really seem to try. Dr. Miller tried several different lenses with me until we found a good fit. Contacts had never felt so comfortable and my eyes weren't nearly as irritated as they had been before. Because they fit better I could also see much better. He made it clear to me that contacts weren't the best option for me due to my high astigmatism but that didn't stop him from doing everything he could to make it work. We also discussed other options like LASIK and other refractive surgery. I was always very interested in this and he answered all my questions, gave me every option available and left me with pricing. At the time the only option for me was a contact lens implant. The cost of this was very high and not an option I felt comfortable with. A few years later he mentioned the technology has improved since our last discussion and I was now a candidate for PRK (a type of refractive eye surgery). He gave me the pricing, answered my long list of questions, gave me realistic expectations and three weeks later I had the surgery. I couldn't be happier now! I see better than I ever have. Dr. Miller is a great OD. He seems to genuinely care about his patients and spends all the time needed with you to get the best results. I have been going to Dr. Miller for a couple of years and I am so very blessed to have found him. I have really dry eyes and an eye muscle problem that caused me to see objects skewed . He was the only optometrist that truly listened to what I had to say and tried to help. I always see Dr. Miller when I go to Southwest Eye care because I think he is amazing. He is the kindest optometrist I've ever been to. He really listens to me and seems genuinely concerned about me and my eyes. He usually spends a few minutes just talking to me about the things going on in my life and we always have a very warm conversation. Over the years he has fit me into the best contacts I've ever had. They were great with my dry eye and I'm able to wear them all day comfortably. I just got a new pair glasses from him and have the best vision ever. This year I started talking to him about Lasik surgery. He has many years of experience with Lasik and he really knows what he's talking about. In fact when I was reading on his description on their web page, before coming to Bakersfield he was an owner in a Lasic practice in another state. It really shows because he can answer every question I have and he really help put my mind at ease about doing the surgery. He said my eyes are a little too dry right now so we are working to get them better before we move forward with the surgery. He doesn't actually do the surgery. That is done by Dr. Stainer and I know he has a great reputation from talking to other people at work and friends who had surgery with him. Dr. Miller is doing my consultation and everything I need to get ready to have the surgery. A while ago he told a coworker of mine that she shouldn't have Lasik because her eyes were not ideally suited for it so I know that I can trust his recommendation and that he will give me the best advice possible. I have referred several members of my family and friends to see Dr. Miller and they have all said the same thing that they thought he was great. I highly recommend him for anything you need for your eyes and vision. If you want glasses or contacts he will take great care of you or if you need something more like Lasik he is great for that too. read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Miller. I began seeing him for dry eyes and he has been a godsend. He found medication that works and placed punctual plugs. I went in today and saw Dr. Miller. The wait time was minimal and the office clean and pleasant. Within a few minutes I was back in the exam room. The staff were friendly and kind and I was treated respectfully. Dr. Miller was there within about two minutes of the assistant taking me back to the room and the experience was pleasant and friendly. Dr. Miller took his time and was extremely helpful. He took the time to talk to me and answer my questions. The actual eye exam was not at all uncomfortable and I left feeling like Dr. Miller (and his staff) were genuinely concerned about me and my vision. I recently had my first exam since having my LASIK surgery with dr. Stainer. I'm still seeing great but having some dryness to my eyes. Dr. Miller put me on some eye drops and really went in depth about what was going on with my eyes.
