All my questions were answered throughly, it was great professional experience. I didn't have time this visit to pick out frames from their large selection, but I will return soon. Unfortunately, my experience with the lens/optical department has been the complete opposite. The optical department's customer service and communication are extremely poor. Information given at the time of ordering glasses often changes later, and I've been told one thing in person only to be told something completely different afterward. It feels very disorganized, and there seems to be little to no communication between the optical staff, reception, and doctors. As a patient, that makes the process frustrating and confusing. The optical and lense department are dishonest. The frames that are completely covered by insurance are not clearly displayed and are hidden from view, while the more expensive frames are front and center. This makes it difficult to know what options are actually covered and creates pressure to choose higher-priced frames that insurance does not fully cover. As a result, patients often end up paying $100-$300 out of pocket for glasses that were assumed to be covered. Greater transparency and clearer communication about covered options would make a big difference for patients. It's disappointing because the doctors themselves are wonderful. I would happily continue seeing them, but I truly wish I could take my prescription elsewhere for glasses. I hope the optical department improves its transparency, communication, and customer service, because it does not currently reflect the quality of the medical care provided by the doctors.

The ones I had been living with for years caused me discomfort and good vision wasn't a daily occurrence. The problem was mainly due to my high astigmatism. My previous OD couldn't help me and didn't really seem to try. Dr. Miller tried several different lenses with me until we found a good fit. Contacts had never felt so comfortable and my eyes weren't nearly as irritated as they had been before. Because they fit better I could also see much better. He made it clear to me that contacts weren't the best option for me due to my high astigmatism but that didn't stop him from doing everything he could to make it work. We also discussed other options like LASIK and other refractive surgery. I was always very interested in this and he answered all my questions, gave me every option available and left me with pricing. At the time the only option for me was a contact lens implant. The cost of this was very high and not an option I felt comfortable with. A few years later he mentioned the technology has improved since our last discussion and I was now a candidate for PRK (a type of refractive eye surgery). He gave me the pricing, answered my long list of questions, gave me realistic expectations and three weeks later I had the surgery. I couldn't be happier now! I see better than I ever have. Dr. Miller is a great OD. He seems to genuinely care about his patients and spends all the time needed with you to get the best results. In the four years I've been his patient I have went from having almost blind and miserable feeling eyes to seeing and feeling better than I ever have before.

YAY! Awesome optometrist in Bakersfield! Lately I've been finding it hard to find a top tier…read morequality experience at pretty much any place of commerce... So, coming here, it was very refreshing to discover that there are some places that still know how to run a business with great professionalism and customer service. This review is for a contact lens exam that I received earlier today. It was my first visit to Takhar Eye Care. First of all, the front desk is fantastic. They actually answer the phone! Promptly and friendly too! They are clear in communicating and very detailed oriented. The front desk can make or break whether or not I'd like to even make an appointment in the first place, let alone come back. But the prompt and responsive service was immediately impressed upon me even before I arrived. They also had appointments available within a reasonable timeframe, which is hard to find these days. Secondly, the doctor is also fantastic! Really took the time to learn about what I needed and didn't rush through the exam. He was efficient and thorough, carefully checking my eyes. He listened to my idiosyncratic requests and was able to meet all of them. Also, he explained some of the process of the exam that I never knew before! The place was super clean and organized. And, they had a contact lens removal station with lens cases and solution! It's so odd, but for the past 15 years plus, it has always been a hassle to take out my contacts at eye exams. When I saw a whole station ready with sink, mirror, cases, and solution (for soft contact lenses), I was seriously shocked and happy. At past offices, I have been given grief for not bringing my own supplies, provided only hard contact lens solution with no other option, needed to walk down outside of the office to a faraway restroom, or used areas without an available mirror at all. What a relief it was that I didn't have to overcome any of these obstacles just to take out my lenses for the exam! Overall, A+++ for Takhar Eye Care. Thank you!

Another sign on the door stated they were closed from 1p-2p for lunch, also fine. Yet an additional sign read "walk-ins welcome." Called the number and asked to come in to just look at frames, only to be told that a current customer was currently being assisted then they were going to lunch. Asked if lunch was still at 1pm, and told it was. So apparently it takes 1 whole hour to assist a customer, walk-ins are not welcome, and you can't come in to just look at frames. Terrible customer service...you just lost 2 potential new customers as both my daughter and myself are in need of frames. Literally just wanted to look at frames, already had our prescriptions.

Here to debunk the myth that you have to go to a fancy, optometrist office to get quality service…read more As a long-standing Costco member, I'm well aware that Costco has an independent optometrist office inside the Panama Lane location. Today was the day I finally told myself "no more fancy offices that's hard-to-book for appointments." I've seen first hand from a friend how Ojitos Optometry handles appointments. First, they are open 7 days a week with two primary optometrists who handle patient load. They are also available for walk-ins in case you need care. I called ahead to book my appointment today. The clerk who handled the booking appointment gathered my personal info over the phone and was able to verify my vision insurance right away. She was upfront about copay amounts and any out-of-pocket expenses I may incur based on my visit needs. I need a contact lens fitting so I was quoted the copay for that well in advance. The appointment was right on time and Dr. Singh took my new patient intake form and performed the necessary pre-checks that I agreed to. I haven't been to the optometrist in about 3 years so I opted for the additional retinal scan, which by the way only costs $10 here. Other places will charge a much higher price for this test. Dr. Singh was helpful and had a positive attitude dealing with the patients. Dr. Velasquez was the optometrist on duty today. He was very professional and took his time explaining changes in my vision. He was thorough in his work, carefully adjusting the prescription on each eye, not rushing between readings, and went over my eye health in great detail. Their business model doesn't try to upsell you on any fancy, expensive frames while sitting on tufted chairs. After your appointment, you are free to take your eye glass prescription to Costco's eye glass counter and look at their selection or use the Rx to shop online for frames. Great experience and will be coming here from now on!

I had accepted that it was just part of aging, but I really wanted the freedom to see clearly without constantly reaching for my glasses. A friend recommended Luxor Eye Institute, and I'm so glad they did. From the moment I walked in, the experience felt first-class. The staff is warm, attentive, and incredibly professional. Dr. Kouchouk took his time explaining all my options, and we decided on the Light Adjustable Lens. What stood out to me was the level of precision. The idea that you can actually "fine-tune" your vision after surgery is amazing--and it truly works. After my adjustments, my vision is better than I can ever remember. I can read, drive, and go about my day without glasses. It honestly feels like turning back the clock. This was one of the best decisions I've made for myself. If you're on the fence about cataract surgery or want the absolute best outcome, I cannot recommend Luxor enough.

On the Friday prior to her scheduled surgery, I called to confirm the procedure time. I was routed to a call center and informed that a message would be sent to the surgery coordinator to return my call. I did not receive a response. On the Monday morning of the scheduled surgery, I called again and spoke with Monse, who advised that confirmations were not yet available but that she would call me back. She also instructed me to follow up if I had not heard back by 4:45 PM. I called again at 2:00 PM and received the same response. At 4:00 PM, I was told the surgery coordinator was unavailable but would return my call. After still not receiving any follow-up, I called again at 4:45 PM and was finally able to speak with the surgery coordinator, Cassandra. At that time, I was informed that my mother was not on the surgery schedule. I was further advised that no authorization had been obtained from her insurance, and that the office staff had left early the previous Friday. Cassandra stated that she was unsure what had occurred and offered to reschedule the procedure. This situation is extremely concerning. My mother had been scheduled for surgery for three months, and despite submitting the required medical clearance, no authorization was ever requested from her insurance. This represents a significant breakdown in administrative processes. I requested to speak with a manager, and was connected again with Monse. She acknowledged that she had not verified the surgery schedule. This experience has been both frustrating and stressful. Coordinating care for my parents requires careful planning, and this lack of communication and follow-through has caused unnecessary disruption not only for me and my brother, but also for my mother, who was fully prepared for her procedure
