I have been going to this office for about 4-5 years, and I absolutely love the staff and Dr. Ratty. However, I had a disappointing experience today. I went in hoping to shop for glasses and arrived at 4:04 pm. The office closes at 4:45 pm. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted as usual and instead felt dismissed. When I was finally helped, the receptionist, immediately told me that I could no longer place an order and that I should have arrived by 4:00 pm to do so. I work until 4:00 pm and came as quickly as I could. I had never been informed of this policy before, and the way it was communicated felt very rude. I would have been much more understanding if the situation had been explained politely and if I had at least been invited to browse frames for a future purchase. Instead, I had to ask if I could at least look around, and I was told that no one could help me but that I could look if I wanted. The interaction made me feel like I was inconveniencing her, so I ultimately chose to leave. This experience was very upsetting because I have always had positive experiences at this office. This review does not reflect the rest of the staff or Dr. Ratty, but rather the way this situation and policy were communicated to me. read more

I started going to Dr. Ratty since I was a child. Continued going under my own insurance and also brought my 2 children there. About 2 years ago I tried making an appointment for me and my 2 children to all be seen "same day" as I live out of town, im a single mom and work full time. They refused and i asked management if they could make an exception and they said no that was their policy. At that time I let them know I was going to try and look for another place to accommodate my current needs. Fast forward to this year I called just to make an appointment for myself and was told I was put on a do not service customer list Reason Being: we can not accommodate you and your 2 children during an appointment. I let them know I didn't need to schedule 2 other appointments, they continued to deny service for reasons completely unknown to me. I've always purchased glasses/ contacts from this business for my family, and also drive family out here for their appointments. I love dr. Ratty his service has always been great. It's unfortunate that a business I've been apart of for many many years doesn't seem to care for the customer if it's inconvenient for them and you don't know it until it happens to you. read more

Dr. Rady's office offers exceptional eye care, and the most amazing selection of frames! From the front desk check in to the exam to choosing the frames, the office experience is actually enjoyable. I personally like very high-end, namebrand frames and they have a special room with the highest end offerings. I bought a pair of computer glasses this time and chose Kate Spade and am exceptionally happy with them. read more

Dr. Ratty is great. I've been going to this office for 24 years. Sadly I've decided to leave this office due to the front office staff. They are rude and incompetent. After scheduling twice a month out and to show up twice and be told that I didn't have an appointment is ridiculous. Paid for a sitter twice for my child just to not have appointment. When I in fact know I scheduled. Then they lie and state they scheduled me on the day I called to make an appointment. Tried to say I missed my appointment. Never in 24 years have I missed an appointment and not called. They are liars and just plain incompetent. Front office make or break an office. Unfortunately, this crew was enough to make me leave after 24 years. read more

I scheduled an eye appointment back in December. I walked in today (January 20th) and they did not have me scheduled. One young lady was super sweet, but the other was very rude and unprofessional. I tried to be nice and her that I could reschedule. The rude lady gave me 2 different dates and acted like this was my fault. She said she would call if they had an opening. The reason I scheduled for today was because I had the day off. If a patient is upset, maybe you should tone it down and offer some type of accommodation and at least make them feel like you care. read more

I called the office to see when my appointment was and then I was informed I missed it, I told them I never received a call and the woman said yes you did we called your number and the appointment was confirmed, she then said I had to pay a no show fee before I can be seen, when I tried to explain to her that I never received a call that I called myself two weeks before to make sure and was told I would still receive a courtesy call and that I would not pay she proceeded to raise her voice and repeatedly tell me to hold. When the next woman got on the phone she said we're training and that I would have to pay the no show fee because they can not waive it even after I explained the situation. read more

So far up to this point my experience was great. But I picked up my glasses today and I immediately could not see through them. I put them in the case and I left with my old glasses on. My old sunglasses. So it's 10 o'clock at night and I am trying on my reading glasses so I can shop online. There's a huge scratch already that I did not do. And there is numbers on the lenses I have no idea what this is about I have never had a para glasses with numbers on them that are visible in the lens. So I am just going to update this later if they make it right for me. But besides the numbers and the scratch I can't see out of them anyways I don't honestly think that they are my correct lenses. :( read more

I got to give Dr ratty five stars I've been going to him since the 1990s kids have gotten glasses grandkids have gotten glasses haven't had any problems with whatsoever with them they have a whole bunch of different styles of eyeglasses cheap ones and very expensive ones we've gotten contacts we've gotten just frames never had a problem picking out stuff that we like they're pretty quick on getting them if we order them and all that good stuff customer service is always A+ they never coax you into getting stuff you don't need just stuff that you want so we've got to know some of the people that been working there for years over the years of add a new spot with the high end glasses so if you want to spend 67 $800 on a pair of frames you can and if you don't you got the other poor man side where there's some nice frames also so of course we'll definitely go back for the next 10 years or 20 years so I always give them A++, didn't post any pictures because there's too many people in there and it's pretty confined in there so I didn't post any pictures this time sorry folks read more

I actually didn't go...but I called to set up an emergency appointment for my 93 year old mother-in-law and the person on the phone was very helpful in changing their schedule to accomodate us. We ended up not going (I did call and let them know) but I really appreciated them being willing to help me out and making me feel like a valued customer. read more

An 8:30 appointment and at 9:01as I write this, I'm standing and waiting for the doctor, surrounded by this circus. Lots of frames for perusal, but many look cheap and many are so similar as to not truly provide what I'd call a wide selection. Not impressed and probably won't be back. One more thing... even after I replied affirmatively to the appt confirmation text yesterday, they still called and left a voicemail. Overkill, and annoying. Everything went smoothly, so if you're hesitant about getting your eyes checked because you don't know where to go, try this place.! They've been around for decades, that says a lot! They also have fantastic customer service and really care about their customers. My fiancé had an eye emergency and she was able to get in to have him look at her within the same hour, even though it was past closing time. When I walked in the door I was greeted by... nothing. I approached the receptionist who was terse and very unfriendly. Apparently, they don't expect the staffers to be friendly here. I've been coming here a few years now but it is never pleasant. The "Heathers" at the front desk are very lacking in kindness or pleasantry. Time after time I watched them act like patients/customers were stupid or bothersome. I was called back by Dr. Narzizi quickly and the exam was pleasant. Returned to the waiting room to await the people who would set up my lenses. After the exam it took 20 minutes to get back with the technician for my glasses. I had a 9:30 appointment and was out by 10:30. The experience was good with the exception of the horrible receptionists. I'm debating finding another eye doctor because I feel very uncomfortable sitting there watching people getting treated poorly. I think this practice could do much better than they have with these two girls. They need serious training about how to treat people. read more

I've been a patient here for 29 years. I have always enjoyed my annual visits. The gals in the front are just a hassle. The last two visits my daughter and I have had, there has been some kind of hassle with the front desk. Last year my daughter and her prescription for contacts, this year me and my mask. They cut you off mid sentence and run off for the manager like children. Rude! Rude! Rude! Thank goodness the Manager was able to take care of both incidents in a calm professional manner. The back office and both Doctors are great people. I don't know that I will be back. Love the doctors and the back office, but that front desk is a real mood killer. read more

Well we used them because they were on our kaiser plan. And yes their glasses are pricey!!! But I get what you pay for I had my Fendi sunglasses almost 6 years! Yes that's my $$ worth. Very nice staff and it is a two week turn around to get your glasses back so if you want them fast, this is not your place. Very large selection of regular glasses and a room with also a large selection of high end glasses. So I know everyone can find something here. read more

Who is the very rude gray haired lady that works here? It wasnt my fault my insurance referred me out to the wrong optometrist. When I was in the examinaning room with her, she continued to ask me questions in a rude and very condesending tone. Look lady, I dont want to be there either. I had to take a long lunch and got stuck in downtown traffic to even get to my appt. I am so very sorry I wasted your precious time. I work in customer service and wrong info sometimes gets transferred down from one person to another. It happens. I used the restroom after my appt, (you need a key and the restroom is out of the office), when I came back to return the key, she was scolding the receptionists. It took everything in me to not mouth off in their defense. Im a little sad to leave Dr. Ratty one star, because Ive heard nothing but good things about him. His office staff was also really nice, but he really should do something about the super rude lady who hates her job. read more

I came here for my yearly visit to get contacts and this time glasses. I been coming to this office for over 10 years! As the years have pass their front desk customer service has gotten better. They now greet you as you come in and the wait to see a doctor is minimal. They have a large selection of glasses for both adults and kids. They have just about any brand you can think of (Bebe, Tiffany, Ray-Ban, Nomad, Marc Jacobs, etc.). They even have a "private" area for the high-end brands of glasses (the ones I can't afford ). If you find a pair, but is not the color for you, they can order them online and have them deliver in no time. As for the doctor, I seen both and they are friendly and ready to answer any questions or concerns. Which I always have when I take my kids. After your appointment they take you to the back section and you wait, in a small office, for one of their assistants to help you try on your new contacts and choose the right pair of glasses. You don't have to order both, but who doesn't like new glasses each year?! Overall, if you're looking for a place that treats you like you have top nudge insurance, even if you don't, this is the place to visit. read more

I was able to get nice name brand glasses for my two kids and I for no out of pocket cost which was a plus!!! Hands down the best office in town! I always love coming here for my eye care needs. From the receptionists up front greeting me so kindly, to the pre tester, all the way to the doctors giving such thorough exams and explaining questions i may have. The opticians here are so helpful i'm helping finding me what i am looking for and helping me find new frame styles to help me switch up my style. I've been going to Dr, Ratty since I was 8 years old!! He's the sweetest guy! All of the employees from the front desk, to the eyewear/repair area, to the contacts and the consultants side are amazing! I had to get a prescription before my insurance expired and they got me in right away! I've seen the other doctors as well and they were so inviting! VERY SMOOTH EXPERIENCE I have tried the Costco route and even the Stanton optical group. Costco wasn't so bad but Stanton optical was a joke. I told the wife that I wanted to go to a reputable local eye Doctor. After checking my Yelpers....I picked Dr. Steve Ratty and I am glad I did. Very thorough examination. My appointment was at 3:00 PM and because the wife had the online form filled out I was in getting examined by 3:08PM. Examined, and purchased a new pair of specs in 45 minutes.... Thanks Dr. Ratty and staff job well done!! BTW The staff were very sweet and sincere with their hellos, thank U's and Merry Christmases too!! Worst customer service!! I call to schedule an appt. Never been a patient before so I give them my information and then the receptionist looks to see if there is anything available for monday. Then the phone goes silent. I want told I would be put on hold but its fine because I'm sure there busy. Three minutes go by, still silent. Five minutes. It was almost 7 minutes when I just hung up. An hour later they call back to try and schedule an appt with me. They left a voicemail stating that we got disconnected. Sorry but I'm not interested in going somewhere where they treat there patients like this. read more

My husband and I have been going to Dr Ratty's offIce for over 10+years Just recently he decided to move to another Optometrist because of a recent transaction. They wanted him to buy bifocals and he initial refused but eventually gave in, knowing that it was not what he wanted. It was told to him that if he doesn't like them just bring the glasses back and get the ones he wanted. So he tried and didn't like them. He did exactly what was instructed of him. He didn't like what he purchased so he returned them wanting what he asked for originally. Asking for the difference back that he paid into the bifocal (expensive). They did not refund the difference. So he went to another OD in Target on 5/2020 where he was referred to the Triangle Eye Institute Ophthalmology where he was in formed By the doctor that he had Glaucoma and it had been there for 10years in the making and that he has Cataracts . I call to speak with the Office Manager Sandra but could only leave a message. My question is how did this get missed. Bifocals were suggested for him to wear but the Cataract and the 10yr old Glaucoma was missed at every visit.. why wasn't it caught by licensed professionals?? DISAPPOINTED. read more

Overly impressed with them . The receptionists got my daughter an appt very quickly. Then when we got there,we were in and out even quicker. The receptionists were so friendly, and Steve Ratty was so professional and polite. I was so happy with the experience , I asked to make an appt for myself, and they got me in at that moment ( bc someone had canceled), and my experience was just as pleasant. I made an appointment here and due to my insurance, it was made around 4-5 months away from the time I called. My eyes were getting so bad that I thought I'd just call again to see if they had any sooner openings. Sure enough they got me in the next day! The receptionists were friendly and explained everything I needed to do to confirm my exam. As for the atmosphere, it is clean and has a bit of elegance to it. Very comfortable setting. I was called back by Denise who was amazing!! She really did everything she could to help find the best route for my eyes. She would try the machine multiple times when it wouldn't read my eyes. Her patience and kindness made me feel like she truly cared about me as a person. She is the sweetest soul! The Dr. finally came in and helped get down to business. I wish he would've told me what I had and elaborated on what was bothering my eyes, but it seemed he was in a hurry. I then proceeded to the waiting room/glasses area. I waited maybe 5 min and a lady came to tell me my insurance wouldn't cover glasses but I could purchase a budget pair. I will be returning next time. read more

I just picked up my new glasses today, and the friendly assistant not only gave me the pair with a cute case, but also offered to fix my old ones when I tought they couldn't be repaired! This was my first time coming to this optometrist and I had a great experience, the doctor who first checked me informed me that if I could get her a copy of my old prescription that she could just update the prescription and not have to charge me. I was able to call my old optometrist in Santa Cruz and get that prescription before I was done with the appointment and avoid any charges. read more

This place is really efficient and my glasses are ready in less than a week even as they give you the standard delivery date of 2 weeks. Prices are the draw for me.
