The day before our siding was to be…read morereplaced with Hardie Board it was brought to our attention the current siding may contain asbestos. I frantically called 6 companies trying to get it tested. BB was the only company who answered my call (I had to leave a message with the others) and they were able to send someone out the SAME DAY. Santiago arrived at my house, I explained the situation and then he walked around the house to inspect. When he came back in he said he had bad news and good news. The bad news was for himself: he checked all sides of the house and did not see any asbestos. The good news was for us: he didn't want to waste our time or money when he knew asbestos wasn't present. I feel like honesty is a rare quality in businesses these days and I was SO thankful that Santiago was able to give me peace of mind with having our siding removed the following day and not making me pay for something he knew didn't exist. There wasn't even a fee for coming out!

I also needed someone to procure materials and project manage as I live 2K miles away. After searching for a couple of months and being frustrated by no callbacks and outrageous quotes I contacted VRC Management and couldn't be happier that I did. Jozef and his team were extremely attentive throughout the entire process, completed the work in a very reasonable time frame, and had competitive rates. Jozef even walked me through a couple of additional items that made a huge difference in the remodel including painting the cabinets instead of replacing (I don't know how they did it but they turned out perfectly), moving a cabinet for better sight lines, making a waterfall edge to update the counter, and putting a light in the newly installed stand up shower in the bathroom. All of the work is extremely high quality including some of the best tile work I have seen (and there was a lot of it). In the end I have an entirely new bathroom and kitchen in a place that now feels brand new. Thanks to Jozef and the entire VRC team!

We are on the third floor of a walk up condo, and we have a private rooftop deck. We started…read moregetting leaks in the ceiling in two places in our kitchen, and called about a half a dozen places in and around the city to come out and assess. The proposals were all over the place. Some companies said it couldn't be done without ripping off the rooftop deck and repairing everything. Some companies said it wasn't the roof at all, it was condensation inside the house? Jeff at Rollin Contracting was way more honest and practical in his assessment. He pointed out where he suspected the two leaks were coming from, but said that you never really know until you rip up the roof and move the air conditioner and take a look. He told us that roof repair was tricky, that the guys who said we might have to replace the whole roof could be right. But he wouldn't start with that, he would start with the less expensive approach. Granted, there was the risk that if it didn't work, we would have wasted that money when they re-did the whole roof, but we decided to gamble on a $2000 repair rather than jump into the $12,000 repair of the whole roof. Rollin Contracting was the only one who was honest and open and gave us options. He was also the one who was most confident in where he thought the leaks were coming from. It has now been one month since they repaired both potential sources of the leak, and neither of the leaks have come back. And in case you haven't been paying attention, we've gotten absolutely drenched this May. Meaning there is no doubt in my mind that they successfully fixed the leaks. The contractors that came to do the work were great, they didn't even enter the house. I offered to let them come inside to get to the rooftop, and they said they preferred to just go up and over to keep our house clean. While taking up the wooden boards on the rooftop deck to do the roof repair, they accidentally broke one of the boards. They went to Home Depot and replaced the board that day. Not a big deal, and super quick to fix it. Also, at the last minute (after we had signed the contract), I realized that I had forgotten to ask them about the fireplace, which also occasionally drips water during bad storms. I asked Jeff if he would have his guys look at the chimney to see if they could identify the source of the potential leak and to let me know what his recommendations were to have that fixed as well. He went ahead and had his guys caulk it while they were up there without even charging us. I know that's probably not a huge expense, but it was still a nice gesture to just throw that in. So across the board it was a great experience. Would definitely work with these guys again and recommend them with confidence.

We filed a compliant with the BBB for Rollin's failure to obtain necessary permits, workmanship…read morefailures and lack of professionalism. Please think twice before hiring this contractor - it will not be worth it if there are any uncertainties re: your project and they will say anything to get your job. We hired Jeff to perform some deck work for our three flat. Jeff quoted us $6K to replace certain posts and railings. One year later, additional work was clearly required because railings were loose and Jeff performed an additional $3K worth of work. At no time to Jeff represent himself as anything other than qualified to perform the work. Turns out he never even got a permit for the work. We were cited by the city for non-compliance shortly after his second round of work. He complied with fixing some of the issues identified. When he met with the inspector to review the work and confirm compliance, he essentially yelled, screamed, stormed off and refused to fix any of the additional work. We are now left with a deck that still needs work, $12K later. Jeff continues not to respond to emails/requests for him to finish his work. Jeff misrepresented his ability to do deck work according to city law and code. His unprofessionalism in resolving the issue that he created (he should have just said his people didnt do deck work maybe instead of doing a poor job and then getting upset when someone challenged him to do the work properly) was so disappointing. Do not work with this contractor.

He is also good at solving problems and great at communicating, including responding quickly, having the patience to answer lots of questions, and can explain things in a way that someone (like myself) who knows nothing about carpentry and construction can understand. Clear Oak Construction designed and installed an access hatch to allow me to access the attic in my garage. They also repaired the molding and metal trim surrounding my garage door, which had been severely damaged from a run-in with my car. When I first contacted Clear Oak, Mike responded quickly and made time right away to come out and give me an estimate. He bid out the work at a very reasonable rate and his crew got the job done right the first time around. I will definitely use Clear Oak Construction again next time I need a skilled carpenter, or have a renovation or construction project.

Firstly he and his team built out a clean room where we now manufacture our products, which are distributed around the country. I really was not quite sure exactly what materials should be used for the project, but Mike made some suggestions, both in terms of materials and layout, that made a lot of sense. After that project was finished we had Mike build out our storefront. Again he made some great suggestions as to lay out, things I had not thought of, and the storefront turned out better than I had imagined it. About six months later when we took over the second floor Mike finished out our offices and stock room. He also added industrial shelving in our small basement, which added a lot of extra shelf space, and even built us a small photo studio area in which to take product shots. Mike pretty much took our spaces from shells to finish. Not only did he provide excellent guidance through the whole process, he was easy to work with and unlike a lot of contractors actually showed up for work each day. Over the past couple months, after having finished the second floor, we had Mike come back and expand our clean room to over double its original size. The newly expanded clean room came out simply great and has added a lot of productivity to the operation. I highly recommend Mike and Clear Oak for your construction project needs. Mike takes time to understand his customers' needs and when the scope of work changes, as it did several times for us, he adjusts accordingly and gets the job done in a timely and quality way. We probably incorporated more of his suggestions than we ever would have thought of ourselves -- and that made a huge difference to our finished product. Mike understood that we were experiencing a tremendous amount of growth, and helped us most effectively plan our build-outs with that in mind. I could not be happier with our new headquarters.
