We started…read moregetting leaks in the ceiling in two places in our kitchen, and called about a half a dozen places in and around the city to come out and assess. The proposals were all over the place. Some companies said it couldn't be done without ripping off the rooftop deck and repairing everything. Some companies said it wasn't the roof at all, it was condensation inside the house? Jeff at Rollin Contracting was way more honest and practical in his assessment. He pointed out where he suspected the two leaks were coming from, but said that you never really know until you rip up the roof and move the air conditioner and take a look. He told us that roof repair was tricky, that the guys who said we might have to replace the whole roof could be right. But he wouldn't start with that, he would start with the less expensive approach. Granted, there was the risk that if it didn't work, we would have wasted that money when they re-did the whole roof, but we decided to gamble on a $2000 repair rather than jump into the $12,000 repair of the whole roof. Rollin Contracting was the only one who was honest and open and gave us options. He was also the one who was most confident in where he thought the leaks were coming from. It has now been one month since they repaired both potential sources of the leak, and neither of the leaks have come back. And in case you haven't been paying attention, we've gotten absolutely drenched this May. Meaning there is no doubt in my mind that they successfully fixed the leaks. The contractors that came to do the work were great, they didn't even enter the house. I offered to let them come inside to get to the rooftop, and they said they preferred to just go up and over to keep our house clean. While taking up the wooden boards on the rooftop deck to do the roof repair, they accidentally broke one of the boards. They went to Home Depot and replaced the board that day. Not a big deal, and super quick to fix it. Also, at the last minute (after we had signed the contract), I realized that I had forgotten to ask them about the fireplace, which also occasionally drips water during bad storms. I asked Jeff if he would have his guys look at the chimney to see if they could identify the source of the potential leak and to let me know what his recommendations were to have that fixed as well. He went ahead and had his guys caulk it while they were up there without even charging us. I know that's probably not a huge expense, but it was still a nice gesture to just throw that in. So across the board it was a great experience. Would definitely work with these guys again and recommend them with confidence.

Please think twice before hiring this contractor - it will not be worth it if there are any uncertainties re: your project and they will say anything to get your job. We hired Jeff to perform some deck work for our three flat. Jeff quoted us $6K to replace certain posts and railings. One year later, additional work was clearly required because railings were loose and Jeff performed an additional $3K worth of work. At no time to Jeff represent himself as anything other than qualified to perform the work. Turns out he never even got a permit for the work. We were cited by the city for non-compliance shortly after his second round of work. He complied with fixing some of the issues identified. When he met with the inspector to review the work and confirm compliance, he essentially yelled, screamed, stormed off and refused to fix any of the additional work. We are now left with a deck that still needs work, $12K later. Jeff continues not to respond to emails/requests for him to finish his work. Jeff misrepresented his ability to do deck work according to city law and code. His unprofessionalism in resolving the issue that he created (he should have just said his people didnt do deck work maybe instead of doing a poor job and then getting upset when someone challenged him to do the work properly) was so disappointing. One Star - Would Give Zero If Possible…read more Review for: The Basement Men (The Creative Approach Builders & Remodelers, Inc.) We were referred to this company and initially spoke with Steve. During early phone conversations, we were told the job was usually around $1,000. We scheduled an appointment for 10:00am. Steve called after 10:00am to confirm the appointment, but did not actually arrive until close to noon. When he later came to see the space in person, the price discussed was $1,500, which we agreed to. We paid a $750 deposit via Zelle to schedule the work and signed the contract. We had agreed that we would purchase the exhaust fan ourselves. After we purchased it, we were then told there would be an additional $200 charge to install the fan we had already bought. We were also separately asked to send an additional $75 via Zelle to complete HOA paperwork and provide insurance information. No work was performed other than the site visit. Before anything even started, and after multiple additional costs were introduced beyond what was originally discussed, we decided to cancel. At that point, we were told the deposit would not be refunded. The end result was paying $750, having no work completed, and being asked for more money than what we initially agreed to. Only after this situation did we take a closer look at the full contract, including the fine print on the reverse side. Based on our reading, there are several provisions that future customers may want to review very carefully before signing. These include language related to: - Broad limitations on responsibility - Little or no warranty protection - Attorney fees and collection costs being shifted to the customer - High late-payment penalties - Significant cancellation penalties - Permit-related responsibility being placed on the homeowner - The ability to remove materials if payment disputes arise In our opinion, when no work has been performed, it's reasonable to expect at least a partial refund of a deposit, possibly minus a small scheduling or consultation fee. That was not our experience. This review is not written lightly. We understand that home improvement projects can be complex and that misunderstandings can happen. However, from our perspective, the combination of shifting prices, additional fees introduced after the deposit, strict contract terms, and refusal to refund any portion of the deposit resulted in a very negative experience. We would not use this company again. Anyone considering them should read every page of the contract carefully, confirm all potential costs upfront, and make sure the terms align with their comfort level before proceeding.

We worked closely with many All Quality employees and contractors including the company owner, manager, designer and the craftspeople who did the actual work. Our project took months and, as a result, the All Quality team almost became like family. The men working in our home were always kind, helpful and hard working. Martin and his crew were consummate professionals, and took great pains to be sure we were happy with the result. They did a wonderful job and we couldn't be happier with our kitchen and basement. Dave, the project manager, walked us through every step of the process and maintained an open line of communication. Overall, All Quality was terrific to work with and provided us with exactly what we were hoping for in a renovation.
