I hired Punch List in fall 2024 for a bathroom remodel and paid a 30% deposit. After a site visit and months of back-and-forth, no work ever started. Instead, I was asked to pay nearly $3,000 more--before anything had even begun. I canceled the contract per its own terms and requested a refund. Since then, I've sent multiple emails, certified letters, and even a legal complaint draft. No response. No refund. Nothing. I see from at least one other post from March 2025 that I'm not alone-- Mike W. on Yelp described almost the exact same experience. Same timeline, same silence, same result. This is no longer just my story--it's a pattern. I've tried every private channel to resolve this. Posting here is a last resort. RUN !!! I mistakenly did not look into the individual reviews before I signed the contract and paid the first installment on my visa. Then my wife went into the specific reviews and we found over 5 TERRIBLE 2025 reviews- money paid, no work, work not finished for over 6 months now..no calls back etc. So I cancelled the contract in 2 days- ILL allows 3. I did a charge back on my Visa- and I AM STILL WAITING over 4 weeks later to get the actual credit back. They did not respond to my banks request- wont call me back ..nothing. Clearly I was right in cancelling !! If they were reputable, they would have issued that credit immediately and this posting would not be here !! Clearly I will sue if that money is not returned by their merchant bank soon- but that assumes they are not BK by then form what I can tell. read more

They charged me for a backsplash that they never included in the cost. My kitchen is not finished. Estimates were in march, they started in May. Wanted to like punch list but cannot recommend. Been waiting for the completion of our bathroom and still just getting pushed off. Now I'm the difficult one cause I want my remodel finished, which I was told would take 2 weeks and now we're going on a month because they are too busy to fix basic painting mistakes. Do the job right the first time, for what you charge be better. Had a complete tear down to the studs and their finished product is laughable. The most confusing part is that it shouldn't take more than a day to fix and they just keep pushing me off even though they left my job for 2 days to address another customers completion complaints. So also I'm not the only one dealing with this Update: been 2 days since I heard from them, left 2 voice mails and 3 emails and they have yet to respond, let alone explain to me why they can't correct the poor job done. The downturn in the reviews this year, predominantly based on lack of or poor communication, seems sadly accurate. I originally reached out last year about a bathroom renovation and they were very responsive. I really liked the person, Adam, who came out to review and provide an estimate. The quote was more than I expected so I decided to wait a few months and sock away a few more dollars. I reached out again Tuesday 9/8 asking for someone to give me a call to discuss the estimate as some time had passed and I wanted to make a few adjustments. I got a call back shortly saying Adam would give me a call that day or the next, so when I hadn't heard back on Thursday I emailed again outlining the changes and requesting an updated estimate. Within a couple hours I heard from Adam and we arranged to speak the next day, Friday the 11th. We had a productive conversation and he told me he'd review and revise the quote and have it to me Monday the 14th. It's now Tuesday the 22nd and I haven't heard a single word from them. I don't know that I'd have any confidence in them at this point because if this is the communication during the "honeymoon period" where I would expect they'd want to win my business, what happens once my floor's ripped out or the tub's removed? I'm ready to go: tub, tile, vanity--everything picked out, but sadly no contractor and back to the drawing board. read more

Dealing with Punchlist has been a nightmare. The design phase was delayed and we kept having to ask for the plans. Then no contact from them for about six weeks. When we signed the contract they estimated a 4 week start time. They did not start for 8 weeks, and we had no recourse becuase they had our money. Finally the agreed start date came, (I had taken off work) and with no communication from Punch list, no one showed up. They said that they had emailed, but we have no record of that, and they did not text or follow up with the consumer. They first sent out the site mangaer to our bathroom remodel who had no idea what the project was or what the scope was. He was asking me what walls were being moved. The first day the workers arrived, they were unprepared and were asking me questions about the specifics of the project. Company is very disorganized, Follow through was entirely unprofessional. Requested a final walk through and they billed us our final $5000 without notifying us they were initating a bank transfer and left our issues unresolved and helped themsleves to final payment. Now that we are paid in full, there is no response from the comany. We have cabinets that don't fit the space and Punchlist left them with huge gaps on the sides. This was not explained to us during a very rushed and haphazard addition to the job. If it had, we would not have ordered them. Commuication if awful.The site manager will cut corners and do the minmium he can to get the job done. There is no follow through. They left a ton of garbage in our garage which we had to dispose of. To be fair, the quality of work has been good, and the workers here were extremely courteous and nice. I think you could get the same quality with better service almost anywhere else. Punchlist isn't worth the hassle that they will give you. I will also be filing a complaint with the BBB. read more

My husband and I were excited to work with Punch List for our laundry room remodel. They have a solid rating on Yelp and their gallery of past work is impressive. But look at the reviews closely -- it seems that for the past year or so, their customer satisfaction and ratings have dropped significantly. And issues that others have experienced are issues that we've run into as well. To start, our project started on October 22, 2020 and we were told it would be a five day project. We are now in MARCH 2021 (five whole months later) and it's still not completely done. I had an appt set for today (that was ideally supposed to be the last time I'd ever have to deal with Punch List) and it was canceled. No apologies or anything (even though my husband and I specifically took today off to be here), just a "there was an emergency at the job before yours..." No one had even reached out to let us know this; we had to call and ask why no one had arrived. My theory is that they actually forgot about our appt, as I didn't receive any appt reminders or confirmation requests prior to today which is something that was done each time they came out -- but again, that's just my theory. Overall, they seem horribly disorganized and lack proper communication. Honestly the best part of this whole experience was the initial consult with Adam. Things quickly went downhill after that. The problem is, you seemingly work with different people at every stage, and there doesn't appear to be any communication going on between all of them. After I met with Adam and we decided to go forward with Punch List, the next person I met with was Bob (who I assume was the project manager, though that was never clarified). I re-explained to Bob all the work that we wanted done in our laundry room (as there seemed to be no communication between him and Adam). On start day, Bob came with Joel (who I presume to be the contractor). Bob talked with Joel for about 5 min and then left. So now I had to re-explain to Joel all the work that we wanted done as he had never been to our home before. So then Joel leaves his crew to do the work and takes off. Meanwhile, I don't have contact info for Bob or Joel, and when everyone had packed up and left without saying anything at around 4pm, I looked and saw that certain changes had been made to the original plan and yet no one had discussed anything with me first. I emailed and spoke with Agnes and asked why I wasn't informed of any changes first and she told me that the contractors don't typically communicate with the clients on "everything that they do". Wait, what? How does that make sense? I tell her that going forward, I request that if any changes need to be made, that we be informed first. I also asked if we could get an itinerary of what was planned for each day so that we could get our new washer&dryer delivered accordingly, as well as anticipate when the water would be shut off, etc. and was told that they don't make itineraries... There have been so many hiccups throughout this process, most of which could've been avoided if they simply planned and communicated more effectively. For instance, they installed my laminate countertop so incompetently (I'll share pics below), I requested that they replace it. I had provided the original countertop, but since they botched it, I sent them the link to repurchase it. I assumed that they would've ordered/purchased it before sending someone out to fix it, but that was too optimistic of me. Because when they sent Osiel (yet another new person) to complete all the leftover tasks, he first came to our home and I went over all the problem areas, THEN he headed off to Home Depot. And that's where, you guessed it, he discovered it needed to be ordered and wouldn't arrive for another few weeks... So here we are 5 months later. 4/26/19 - I called Punch List out again, this time to install some floating shelves. Andre showed up right on time and did such an amazing job. He has to modify the bracket a bit & he taught me a few things along the way. We had some time left over at the end so he reinforced a wobbly cat tree for me. I can't say enough good things about this company - they aren't the cheapest option but they aren't the most expensive either and it's worth every penny to me to know I'm getting a true professional who does such quality work!! I had them install 3 light fixtures, they sent their head electrician Joe and he a great job, worked fast, knew exactly what he was doing and didn't care that I was hanging around asking him questions the whole time . If you work with this company, you better pay VERY special attention to the time that contractors come out. First I said I was available between 9-9:30 a.m. and after 11:30 a.m. The rep then said she would send someone at 8 a.m. I reminded her that I said 9-9:30 a.m. or after 11:30 a.m., then her suggestion was 8 a.m. AGAIN. I repeated a third time my availability, and then she said someone could come at 11 a.m. By round number four, she FINALLY confirmed that 11:30 a.m. would work for both requests. I thought we were all set for an appointment today at 11:30 a.m. Then I get an email alert today saying that my appointment is at 9 a.m., and if I don't cancel within a 24-hour time frame, then we would be charged a $38-$58 service fee. So not only was the time wrong AGAIN, but then the alert was sent within that 24-hour notice at 9 a.m. exactly. I don't know how often this company hustles people out of money for no-shows, but I can guarantee you I won't pay a dime. I canceled everything. Positive reviews or not, if just scheduling an appointment is this difficult, I'm totally not interested in letting them do any actual work. read more

After many months of searching, we decided to go with punch list because they were responsive and reasonably priced. Boy, we were NOT disappointed. Tommy and Jeff were on top of everything. Paid more than 50% over quote. I arrived at my rating of a 3 based on the average of the following: Tiling contractor - 5, Construction contractor - 3, Electrician - 5, Punch List office - 0 We went with Punch List because of the good reviews we saw here. As well, I understand that unforeseen issues happen and other projects may cause delays. Price - We have a larger than average main bathroom (about 150 sq. ft.) with this being a gut remodel. There were elements of this project that were complex, mostly due to the plumbing, added electrical and jetted tub installation so when we initially received our quote, we were really happy with the price. However, the night before the start of our project, the company owner contacted us and told us that the quote was much lower than what it should have been priced. So, we were offered a few options, one being that the company forewent profits and charged us only half of what the difference of additional amount should have been. This was an ADDITIONAL $5000. We agreed to this because we did not want to start the process over with another company and we had waited 5 months with Punch List to begin the work after signing our contract. We paid for everything as requested by Punch List. The construction contractor arrived and initially, was really great and would have given him a 5 if he was consistent. He was professional and very communicative. However, as the project languished on, I think he was ready to be done and we had to call him out on some work that he tried to pass off as correct (which it wasn't). He later fixed the issues though - however with these things considered, he slipped down to a 3. The tiling contractor was Rico and his son. We had large format tiles installed in our shower and a couple of walls. These guys were amazing - very polite, friendly and had great attention to detail. Both contractors were very good about our involvement to be sure our design was carried out as expected. I feel we really collaborated well. We had all of our tiling materials and fixtures at the home, well in advance of the project. The custom vanity, jetted tub and toilet were delivered to Punch List and they delivered those items part way through the project. We used a separate vendor for the vanity countertop and backsplash. Our tub was a bit tricky on the install and we incurred additional costs here on top of the price increase mentioned above. ANOTHER $2800. Neither did we nor Punch List anticipate the need to create a remote service access area for the tub motor. Thankfully we were able to have it located in our bedroom closet which backed up to the bathroom, but since the tiling had already been done, the service items still needed to be fed under the floor which involved a partial demo of our dining room and powder room ceilings on the level below to accommodate this work. This was the reason for the additional $2800 cost. I think the extra costs could have been avoided had there been additional assessment and planning by Punch List and having tub delivered to our home prior to the tile installation to ensure all measurements and requirements were completely understood. So now we come to the office. When we got a response from them, they were usually respectful and pleasant in all of our interactions. My reason for a low score however is due to the inaccurate pricing, project management, communication and delays. Our project manager was very polite and offered us some excellent solutions for our project. However, we only saw him 3, maybe 4 times during our project. It was anticipated that our project would take 3 to 4 weeks. Project started a week before Thanksgiving, so with the holidays, the project took 7 weeks plus another 2 for some specialty glass we needed. We were told a few times by Punch List that our construction contractor would handle items A through Z, but when we asked him directly about some of those items, he said it was never communicated to him. As well, we had at least 3 delays on our project where our project sat for nearly a week with no progress. Our construction guy was pulled off our job to handle issues at another site. As well our tiling guys were held up due to another client's change as well as Punch List sliding in another tiling project for the time slot we were due to have them here. As I mentioned, I realize unforeseen things may happen, I just feel like Punch List could have done a better job at managing our expectations. I think also they kept accepting more and more projects without having all the teams needed to fulfill them in a timely manner. Punch List has one simple remaining item to handle - which they say the construction contractor is supposed to handle. After a few more attempts to get an update for a timeline, crickets. So, even with this information, I am happy with our finished project just the journey to get there could have been a lot better. read more

We recently worked with Punch List to install new kitchen countertops and they did a beautiful job. Wojtek was our "day of" lead and made it a really smooth and easy experience. He was punctual, professional, easy to communicate with, and very knowledgeable. He spent extra time to make sure our plumbing and gas were reconnected perfectly after countertop installation, and really made us feel taken care of. First I would like to thank the rep that came out to our house, Gary. He was prompt and helpful and responded to all my questions and phone calls immediately. Gary put me at ease at the beginning of this process. However, a week after scheduling our project, and planning alternate living arrangements (I am pregnant so was concerned about dust), clearing out furniture, taking off work, and alerting our neighbors/HOA, the morning of the project we were informed that it would have to be a week later! The schedulers seemed confused about the details of the project and mixed us up with another customer who had apparently called to say the start date did not work for them (??). Punch list offered to schedule us for the following week, but it is too close to baby's due date. If you choose this company, be very careful about scheduling... they do not seem organized, do not send follow up emails or confirmations (could have prevented this after the "call" with other customer), and are not eager to fix their mistakes. The fact that we already put down a hefty down payment yet were not contacted to "reschedule" even if mixed up with another client is quite concerning! read more

The initial intake with Punch List and start of the project was fine, but I am paying for my education of working with contractors. First of all - beware of the contract as it authorizes them to take payment even if you are not in agreement that the work has been completed for the milestone. The biggest problem is that their work caused a continuing periodic knocking/banging noises in 4 units in my building and they refuse to take responsibility. They cleared out on 9/14/2023 so we are still very much in the 1 year warranty period on their workmanship. They have come twice to try to fix the issue, the first time tightening a nut and the second time taking apart half my kitchen cabinets and then acknowledging they still hadn't fixed it but that it was on other people. They did not respond to any messages for a week and refuse to take responsibility claiming it was an "existing building condition". Other things were annoying, like being left without a working shower in my home for 10 days, the sloppy paint job in both bathrooms, leaving doors to the outside open, and the amount of dust/rumble left after they were gone. There also was no walk through or checking that I was happy with the work at the end, they rushed out before I had a chance to look at anything in the second bathroom. read more

We had a handful of small items to knock out around the house, primarily led by a nasty ceiling leak which was chewing its way through the drywall and bubbling the paint in our basement bathroom. Punchlist was ranked #1 in our area for this kind of work on Yelp, so I placed a call and away we went. Overall, I'd say we had a decent experience with Punchlist. They tackled with ease a tougher than expected tub regrout task, helped try to reset a raised tile near the bathroom window and were friendly and courteous while on-site. So why only 3 stars, you say? Two Reasons: 1) The ceiling job looks second-rate upon completion. There's a rough look to the finish once the pipe was fixed and the drywall patched. The paint color is obviously different than the rest of the ceiling and with such a small ceiling in that bathroom, the simple fix would have been to just repaint the whole ceiling to match (maybe would have taken an additional 30-45 minutes). The gap between the drywall fix and the wall would still be a giveaway to a sub-par finishing effort though, but the pipe underneath it all appears to be fixed (as best I can tell). 2) A repaint of the front door turned into a weeks long game of phone tag with the handyman. We had to repeatedly initiate a request for him to return, but he seemed to have a chronic amount of car trouble which would stand in the way of his finishing the job in a timely manner. We're talking somewhere around 3 weeks to paint one door (and didn't even repaint the frame above the door). Throw in a few days for rain/non-ideal painting weather conditions and even a whole week for car trouble and you're still hard pressed to find a way that 3 weeks is a reasonable amount of time to finish this task. Again, I'm not miffed with Punchlist, more just disappointed at the quality and speed of completion of their work. They earned 3 stars, but wouldn't be likely to use them again. read more

3/12/2020 Update...I've worked with this company before and the electrician they sent out was fast and efficient and got a ceiling fan installed in my wonky condo. Things don't always go as planned & repairs aren't always as simple as when you start from scratch. A faucet repair I had done didn't go as planned. Joe, the owner reached out to me & made things right. He truly seems like he wants to make his company the best it can be. I appreciate that kind of integrity and honesty in a company and will work with them again in a heartbeat. It's not easy finding people you can trust for home odd jobs. If my mom lived in Illinois, this is the company I'd call to help her. Initially, I had a snag with this company after scheduling them to come out and they cancelled at the last minute on the day of the appointment. The owner worked with me and after listening to my mini-tirade agreed to set up an another appointment. They seemed open to constructive criticism to set them apart from other companies. The fan was installed pretty quickly (it wasn't a straightforward install) and I felt the service was reasonably priced. I'll be happy to recommend them and use them in the future for other home repairs. read more

Despite a few hiccups, I'm happy with my experience and I'd call these guys again. I needed some work done on my bathroom and was given a quote for about 5 hours of work. It wasn't the cheapest but I firmly believe that when it comes to your home, you shouldn't go with the cheapest offer. Due to there being more water damage in my bathroom than previously thought, the employee who was doing the work let me know it would take an hour longer which is reasonable (the pictures I sent them can only show so much). After he left (almost an hour past the time he told me he would be done), I realized the work wasn't actually completed. It also wasn't done very well and the bathroom was left filthy. Obviously I was upset and I wrote Punch List an email asking "what the heck?" Instead of being gaslighted which is honestly what I expected, the owners got back to me very quickly and apologized. They completely understood where I was coming from and promised that I'd be happy with my bathroom. They sent out someone else right away at MY earliest convenience free of charge and, after receiving the invoice in a few days, I realized they only charged me the very first quoted amount (for 5 hours). The fact that they worked so hard to make things right really made all the difference to me in terms of quality service. Also my bathroom looks great and I couldn't be happier! read more

Really good bunch of guys at Punch List. I got to them after I got a bunch of goofy responses/ lack of quote response about a small bathroom tile fix that no one seemed to want to do. Sure it was smaller than most projects but it was something we wanted professionals to do. Glad it was them. Got the estimate first from Joe who was prompt and very specific about the work that needed to be done. Then we scheduled with Dave who fitted us in sooner than later. Tommy came to do that actual work and he was just stellar. So pleasant and thorough. We couldn't be happier with the result and will not hesitate to utilize them for other projects in future. With contractors in general you never know what you're going to get. With these guys, you can be assured they will do the work and get it all right the first time. It was nice that he broke everything out by line item, labor, cost and noted any potential costs along the way so we knew exactly what to expect price wise. Me and my wife had a specific vision , they came up with the floor plan and the team was very hands on and gave us lots of suggestions on the design. I contacted them about renovating two of my bathrooms. I asked for a virtual consult because of covid, which they were willing to do. It started off well- I was working with Gary who asked for photos, sent me a diagram of the space and seemed to understand what I was looking for. At the end of the call, I told him I wanted to get things moving ASAP and was told he would get back to me within a week because he had a lot going on. 10 days pass and I don't hear from him, I ask what's going on. He says there are dozens of quotes in front of me but he'll get back to me ASAP. He doesn't. I reached out one more time and never heard back from him. Super disappointing- if you're not interested in the job or are too busy, the polite thing to do would be to just say that upfront so that you don't have a customer waiting for you. read more

I would like to start by saying that I rarely leave reviews, and when I do they are usually positive. However, I have never dealt with a business as UNPROFESSIONAL and INCAPABLE as Punch List Bath and Home Remodeling. The rest of this review is long since I want to share everything that happened, so if you don't have time to read everything, the short story is: DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY - they will ignore any paperwork/rules you send over, refuse to communicate with you, and just waste your time. I honestly don't even understand how they are in business given how badly they handled my project. My experience with Punch List: Adam from Punch List came by my apartment for a quote regarding a closet remodel and washer/dryer installation. Since I'm in a high-rise building, there are a few building rules around these types of projects. To make sure that Punch List was aware of any restrictions and had all the information they needed to price the quote, I shared all this paperwork with them through email mid-August after the walkthrough (an email they replied to so they definitely received it). After I sent this email, I got a quote from Punch List, negotiated a price, and then signed the quote. The next step after signing the quote was getting all the paperwork together to submit to my building (e.g., project drawing, insurance certificate, licenses, etc.). This is where everything went downhill. I had to wait literally almost two months to get all the required paperwork from Punch List. I emailed and called countless times for updates, and they were terrible at communicating. I would ask for updates, they would say they'll call me back, and then would never call me back so I had to call again. I don't know if they are just lazy or purposely sandbagging, but this entire process was tedious and wasted nearly 6 weeks of my time. Then, we eventually got most of the paperwork and submitted to my building. My building manager then calls me and says the last thing we need is the license for a plumber and electrician. I called Punch List, and they said they will need a day to get me the licenses, which I was fine with. However, a day later I had still not received anything so I followed up through email. They responded saying they need more time. Then they email me the next day saying they did not know the building required a licenses plumber and electrician, and that this will increase the price of the quote THAT I ALREADY SIGNED by $4,000 to $5,000. This is 100% a lie though, because the paperwork that I shared with them in mid-August clearly states that the building requires a licensed plumber and electrician, and I had even told Adam this when he first came by and when we negotiated the quote. I call Punch List (and speak to Agnes) to tell her this, and she proceeds to tell me that Adam quit Punch List a while ago so they were never told. This is ridiculous because 1. if Adam quit, they should have told me instead of hiding this from me and 2. the license requirement was in the paperwork anyway so they should know even without Adam. So either everyone at Punch List is actually stupid and can't read or they are too lazy to read what I sent them or they are just trying to scam me for more money. While I was still on the phone, I asked Agnes to let me speak to Brad (the boss who signed the paperwork) and she said he had left the office (it was 12:30pm). I asked that he call me back as soon as he can to discuss the project, and he never called me back. I called back the following day at 1:00pm and no one picked up the phone. It's now been 3 days and no one has called me back. I literally have never worked with a business with this little integrity. I'm furious that they have now wasted 2 months of my time and don't even have the decency to call me back. Now I'll have to start searching for a new company to work on my apartment, although this is probably a good thing because given this behavior I doubt Punch List would have done a good job. If you are looking for a contractor, DO NOT USE PUNCH LIST. read more

The Good At the end of it, I was not charged for both visits. The Bad Scheduled for a contractor to come out to give me a quote on attic installation, along with other items we needed addressed during a follow up home inspection to ensure all fixes were done to code and acceptable before closing on our home. I was very detailed in my email and phone call to Punch list providing exactly what rooms and type of work I needed quoted, along with the list of items I needed verified were done correctly by the Sellers. Specifically I asked for them to bring a ladder to reach the attic space to verify the vent fans were properly installed, and so that we could receive a quote for insulation installation. Contractor arrived without any clue as to what I needed verified/quoted. Did not come with a ladder, and did not have the proper tools to verify if any of the work done correctly. The Ugly Called Punchlist with a follow up explaining the time wasted on the first visit (I had to take off of work, Seller's realtor and my realtor both took time to come to the home to be present during this inspection). They apologized and explained they would have someone else out asap to do it right. Another contractor comes out after a few days- I take off of work and take up both realtors' times yet again. Brings a ladder this time and also checks out items I need done on the home and leaves. After a few days, I do not hear back so I give Punch List another call asking for an update on the quote I had asked for. Informed me that the contractor did not take ample notes and did not have a quote for me. Was told someone would need to come out once again - a third time - to be able to give me a quote on items I had asked for twice at that point. They addressed my original emails and follow up emails and said it was a mistake on their part both times. But after all that time wasted, I can not risk using them again for any future work. Way too much time wasted when I was very detailed in my communication with them. read more

Great work by Robert. This company is lucky to have him as an employee. Detailed and thorough job. Arrived on time, as well. Our only hicup was that we were not informed timely of the one day delay in starting the job, so that's a scheduling/ communication issue. read more
