Leo is great. He does everything. He has been here 3 times. Totally recommended. I will be needing him over again soon.

Tom did a great job on installing new microwave, fixing a pot drawer and fixing a broken bi-fold closet door. Came right on time and communication was good. read more

Poor communication with this company I could not reach them via phone at any time. I cancelled my request for this reason. read more

I requested a handyman to fix a damaged cartridge in my shower valve. The handyman was reckless and forced the part out of the shower valve housing (without first consulting me and disclosing the potential for damage). This further damaged the housing and turned a $200-500 repair into a $2-5K repair as I have to replace the entire shower valve and surrounding tile. Very inexperienced and poor service read more

Absolutely the best. Dan, the owner, responded to my request for a Handyman Plumber in the morning. By that afternoon Vince had already come to my house, found the leaking pipe in the wall, and repaired it, Came back to repair the drywall the next day. Quick, efficient, and reasonably priced. Can't ask for anything more than that for a handyman service. Next time I need a handyman I know where to go. read more

Chicago Handyman is a professional and friendly service. I came to Dan with a project in mind to build storage shelves (city living means limited space!) and he brought my vision to life, along with his wonderful partner. I highly recommend Chicago Handyman for your next project! read more

Chicago Handyman - Handyman Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Our bathroom ceiling had just been taken out and dried by a different company and when we reached out to them to this day still haven't given us an estimate to put up new drywall and light fixture on the ceiling but I called Chicago Handyman immediately and got an estimate and someone out here within a week and did great work and made our bathroom ceiling look like new. read more

I'm so excited I found this company. I had dealt with someone else previously and didn't have the best experience. I just moved here and knew I would need to find someone who could help with projects I couldn't figure out myself. Welp I found them!!! They were great! On time, fair pricing and were able to help me get my closet installed. They were super organized and able to figure out the problems that I had with metal studs. I will never use another company. If you're on the edge and not sure, trust me when I say hire them!!!!! I will not use anyone else. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!!! read more

They started out great and we're able to work through some weird Chicago style 'behind the walls' issues, but ended up ghosting me when it came time to do the finishing touches. I had arranged for them to come finish up on a Friday; around 2pm I emailed and asked if they would be coming,I was told they were ordering parts (was not aware I needed any 'parts' as all that was left was putting in a small piece of flooring (that I already have) and reattaching baseboards), was not told what parts were being ordered, and was also asked for payment despite payment being made on day of work. I had to end up calling on another company to finish the job. read more

This review is long overdue but worth the 5 star rating. I met Dan last year when one of my tenants moved out with no notice. He came into unit that needed a full gut demo on the kitchen and was unfazed by the mess that these tenants had left. He and his team were so professional and super helpful every step of the way, especially since I live on the East Coast. Dan kept me updated on the status of the projects, working to meet my deadlines for showing and leasing the unit. He has a network of workers with lots of experience in the trades. He was able to get all the window screens replaced, which I was having an impossible time hiring someone to do. His work was so good, I asked him back to redo the 2nd floor kitchen & bath, paint, redo hardwood floors, install ceiling fans, and create a custom barn door for the master walk-in closet. Ready for him to bring his team and refresh the 1st floor duplex unit now! read more

Dan came by to help with my hardwood floor when no one else would. He offered suggestions and help in a way a regular guy like me could understand. He turned a project I thought was hopeless into something manageable and affordable. His demeanor was super friendly, and he was very responsive in communication. I'll be sure to contact him again should a need arise. Thanks, Dan! read more

A bit overdue review. We've had Dan in for our second project now, first one involving tearing down a wall to create a walk through, and the second for a shower leak through the kitchen ceiling. He has been extremely fast to respond, and he is on time! I've dealt with contractors in the past who don't even show up for an estimate! In response to a previous poster about one of Dan's sub contractors not showing up; that did happen to me too, and we were not happy about it. However, what deserves a 5 star is the way business was handled. $#+ happens in life that's beyond our control. How we handle $#+ is what defines us. Dan came in himself to finish all the repairs. He stayed till 8, sometimes 9pm ,and came in on saturday and Sunday. Thanks Dan for all your effort, especially around the new born! read more

Dan and his team were great. Responsive, quality work, good pricing, and was flexible as needed in any contract work when things don't go to plan after the wall is open. No BS, solid guy. read more

Dan installed a new Waste King kitchen disposal unit, purchased through Amazon. He notified through text before arrival which was very helpful. Unfortunately, the unit that I purchased did not have the same hook up as the unit to be replaced (needed an outlet). Dan explained everything very clearly and offered a quick solution. When I gave the go-ahead, he promptly purchased the necessary parts at a local hardware store and installed the disposal unit with new outlet in under 30 minutes. Overall, very impressed by his friendliness, honesty, and resourcefulness - not to mention a professional job. I would definitely recommend his services. read more

Dan was punctual, courteous, efficient, professional, great quality work, and an overall super nice guy. I only needed a pendant light hung up, but would 100% hire him for any larger jobs that would need to be done. I recommend that others do the same. read more

Dan and his team are genuine, flexible, knowledgeable and work within your budget. We continue to work with them on our various house projects. When you find good people you stick with them! read more

I've used Chicago Handyman for a few projects now and I'm so happy to have found them. They do impeccable work and even catch and repair things I hadn't noticed! Their prices are great, especially for the knowledge they provide and the quality they deliver. I highly recommend hiring Chicago Handyman for your home projects! read more

Chicago Handyman was professional and timely. They took their time and explained things so that I could understand. Dan was my "guy" and he was polite and informative. My job ended up requiring more work than the original opinion/estimate entailed and they called and talked that through with me. Very Happy with their service and will use them again in the future! read more

I am very disappointed with Chicago Handyman. We hired him to complete a job, talked multiple times, confirmed the time that morning, and he never showed. I called later in the day as the appointment time neared, and no response. I would have appreciated a call/email/text stating he couldn't make it, or running late. We had to hire someone to do this job since the delivery and everything was scheduled for our appointment time. I would NOT recommend using him. Contact me, I have a great guy who is responsible, and responsive! read more

Fast, reliable, funny, and a job well done! Thx Dan!! Called for help with something basic recommended by a friend and ended up getting help fixing a couple other things, hanging a light, some drywall, and creative solutions that eluded me but solved the problem and looked great. Reasonably priced too!! read more

I just moved into a new home and there were a few odds and ends and one broken garbage disposal that I needed help with. Dan got back to me right away. We spoke on Thursday and he was there the following Monday to help. He accurately estimated the scope of work, picked up the needed materials for the job and was very pleasant. I will definitely have Dan back for any additional needs. read more

I just bought my first condo and had a bunch of things that needed fixing up. I was worried that I would have to call different people to help me fix different things. A friend recommended that I call Dan and I'm really glad I did! He was familiar with everything that needed to be fixed and worked around my insane schedule to help me out. He's the best! Really friendly and efficient. I highly recommend this company to anyone. read more

These guys are the greatest! Not only do they require the skills to get your job done correctly the first time, but as artists, they can offer so much more. They have customized my shower to look like an underwater fantasy land - you really should ask how they can help make your project look truly unique and professionally done. read more

Dan took my call on a Saturday afternoon after I was involved in a death match with a ceiling fan. He worked around my schedule and had Leo out that Tuesday who completed the job in no time flat. I will call first before even starting myself next time! Highly recommend! read more

Received a quote from Chicago Handyman which seemed reasonable. The quote instructed to reply to set up the appointment. I have replied twice, providing all necessary information and received absolutely no response a week later. If your work is anything of an urgent nature, this probably isn't the place you want to try. read more

This work turned out very, very well for a competitive price. We have used Chicago Handyman several times for all different kinds of projects and as with prior work this project gave us a result we are very happy with. The team is committed to creating good quality work and it shows by the end. While they will work with your budget and style requirements, they also work hard to make sure you end up with something you will be happy with and that will last. We often find the process of doing these kinds of projects to be bumpy - once the project starts things never go quite as originally envisioned and it's not always a perfect process - but by the end the work is very good and we are happy that we chose Chicago Handyman. I would definitely recommend them to others. read more

Excellent workmanship! He was quick to get a bid to us, to get the work done, and he is very good at communicating about what he's doing and when he will be finished. He stuck to his timeline, and we were extremely pleased. He wants to please his customers. He thinks outside the box and solves problems quickly. read more

I had Dan and team come in to do some lighting and painting. He was one of the cheaper options (hence the 2 stars) but the result was less than satisfactory. I was not going to post this but yesterday was the last straw. The lighting job was fine, although they didn't ground several of the switches, it was the painting that has led to this post. We wanted everything painted white but had different glosses and shades of white for different things. I told the team where I wanted each shade to go. The walls and ceiling in the living room and bedrooms would take the most paint so I bought two 5 gallon buckets for this knowing that we would want to have some left over to touch up the walls over the course of us living here. After everyone left, I started noticing uneven areas in the paint job so I went through and touched up a bunch of areas on the walls in the bathrooms. Then I noticed that the ceiling in the bathrooms had 2 different gloss types, so I had to repaint all the ceilings in both bathrooms. The last straw came yesterday after I had to patch a hole in the ceiling in the living room. Firstly, after climbing the ladder to patch the hole, I noticed the paint was again super uneven. Then while painting the patch job from some of the remaining paint in one of my five gallon buckets (great foresight I thought), I notice that the new paint and old paint were two different gloss types. So guess how I get to spend my weekend? I get to move all my furniture out of the living room and repaint the entire ceiling again with the paint that should have been used in the first place. I should have said something when I saw paint cans that I didn't buy laying around during the renovation process but didn't. Lesson learned. Dan, I think you are a nice guy and I would maybe hire you again for something super simple that I didn't feel like doing myself, but whoever you have painting is just horrible. I wish you the best but I can't trust your work. read more

Dan has done more work for us since I wrote the review below. In particular, he did an extraordinary built-in bookcase for the living room. It's truly a work of art and it's the focal point of the apartment. We feel very fortunate to have found Dan. read more

These guys are awesome! They came same day as I called and fixed a short list of things I needed done! They were great!

Really nice guy, and him and his team were in and out in no time. Really professional and great work. Highly recommended. I've had a lot of contractors come by to help, and Dan had the best knowledge and attention to detail. read more

Had them install an exterior door, storm door, and paint. Responded immediately and the install went well. *edit* Initially had some stuff that I was not satisfied with, but the person who originally worked on it is not longer there. They offered to come back and complete the job and I am very happy with the final product plus they cared enough to make it right. read more

I would give 0 stars if I was able to, this is the worst service ever received. They very recently did the paint job at our condo. First, Dan only deals with you on e-mail. He rarely returns calls and takes a while to do so. Second, they went overtime on the project. They inspected the apartment and told us they would be able to complete the job in about 4 days, to finish on a Thursday because we were moving in Friday morning. They did not finish until Saturday. As a result, we had to reschedule our move (luckily our movers were accommodating) and we still spent a night in a paint fume filled apartment. Third, the wood floors in our apartment were refinished right before they started the job. We REPEATEDLY told them to take care with the floors, specifically mentioning using drop cloths. Frankly, they were careless with the floors - drop cloths were used only (and only occasionally) immediately under ladders - and as a result, the floors which cost $3,500 to refinish were covered with paint spots and some areas had paint ground into the grain. While most of the spots were removable -- by me and my husband, I might add, since they did a CRAP job of cleaning -- the ground in paint in the grain remained. Finally, they did not even offer to discount the price after the delay and the problems. I would never use this company again. read more
