I'm so surprised to be writing this review and the complete crash and burn of this relationship that started with so much promise. I called to inquire about some sink repairs in my salon. Dave answered and offered to drop by on his way home to take a look and schedule me for the next day. Stellar service! He suggested that he bring another worker with him to finish the work in less time. Based on preliminary walk thru it seemed like a 1-2 hour job- so 2-4 hours of man power. In the end I was charged double that - 8 hours at $150/hour plus expenses. Although Dave had the ability to contact me via call or text and we had been in touch that way leading up to the job, on the day of the project he did not reach out at all to tell me that scope of the project was more and the project would cost me double. He instead spoke to my employees who were in the middle of clients. Even at the end he didn't call or text me to explain what had been done or let me know about the drastically higher bill. In spite of all this I paid without complaint or question. Within 2 weeks, one of the sinks they fixed started having issues. My front desk manager called, left a voicemail and sent an email. No reply. She waited a few days and called again. At that point, Dave scolded her for "interrupting his lunch break" and in so many words told her: the sink worked when I left, you must have done something to it. After that call, I texted Dave looking to connect on the topic and come to some understanding. While we weren't wanting free labor, we were asking for a recheck of the work to advise on why the sink wasn't working after 2 weeks. Dave wouldn't even come to take a look and check his recently completed work. He rudely told my desk manager she could go online and pay for an appt to have someone come back out and never replied to my text. read more

Called Dave to help fix my AC after a different AC repair company told me my system was broken and unrepairable. He offered to come take a look for a free estimate and assured me there would be no charge if he couldn't fix the issue. Within a few minutes Dave had my system up and running and promised to return to identify a permanent fix. It was clear he is very skilled and a trustworthy person to do business with. I hired Mr. Repairman to renovate my condo--new lighting, painting, patching up holes in drywall and fixing anything not working right. Overall, the work was great, but the service wasn't as great. The work that Eddie and his assistant did was great. The quality was great. He was considerate to try to make it as livable as possible and was nice and down to earth. He didn't give that vibe you get from contractors at times where you feel you can't trust them. I even gave him keys so they could come and go as they want, especially since I wasn't going to be home all the time. Yes, work took longer than the quick timeline the project manager gave me, but I never thought it was realistic. I also appreciate that Eddie gave me advice on light placement and number of lights, etc. At the end he checked to make sure everything was perfect and cleaned up. The project manager, David, was ok, but there were some things that could have gone better. Overall, he is a nice man and helped point out other things I would want to consider adding to the project. However, he could do a much better job communicating and being responsive. I was given a date and time that the work would start and was told to get the supplies. I asked Dave what exactly I needed to get but never got a response aside from "lighting and supplies." I'm not a contractor so I don't know how much and what kind of paint to get. I only know the colors I want and for what area. I don't know how many recessed lights to get and what kind. I don't know to get electrical wire, nails, glue, plastic to cover furniture and a bunch of other stuff. On day one, Dave arrives 30 minutes early without notice, which is usually great except for when you're working and have to cancel a meeting with your boss right as it is starting. I would have appreciated if I was told he was going to arrive early. This is also when I was told I would incur an extra charge to have him go with me to the store to get all the supplies. This is a fee I would have not had to pay if he had responded to my messages asking exactly what I need to get. I was also told that I had to immediately take everything off the walls and move all furniture to the center of the room. It would have been great if I was told that in advance. On day one I mentioned to Dave in person that I wanted to add appliance install, which he said he would get scheduled. I followed up a couple of times via email, text and finally via the website chat feature. I finally got a response via the chat feature and was informed the next day that they couldn't do it on my requested day. I wonder if my preferred install date would have worked if Dave scheduled it four days before when I originally requested. A couple of days into the project, Dave showed up again unexpectedly and early. Some notice would have been nice as I had just gotten out of the shower minutes before and was going to jump on a work call. It was during that time that Dave informed I was going to be charged an extra fee for cleaning because base boards and other areas weren't as clean as they wanted. I thought this was a bit ridiculous and something that they could have told me about so I could handle it myself. I really just felt like this was being nitpicky and nickel and diming me. What was even more frustrating is that I was being charged this fee, however, on multiple occasions I had to pick up trash left behind and clean up paint splotches. I wouldn't consider this a big deal if I wasn't told I was being charged extra for "cleaning." I also received the surprise one evening when I walked out onto the shared balcony and found plastic was left taped up along my part and my neighbor's part of the balcony along with paint marks on the cement. Two days earlier I had seen Dave taping up the plastic and doing something out there, which turned out to be painting. Overall, the quality and price were good. I just wish there was better communication, more attention to detail and consideration for the customer by the project manager. Being nitpicked, nickel and dimed, and emails and texts not being responded to led me to be nitpicky in return and remove extras I had added to the project. read more

Highly recommend Mr.Repairman. Excellent work, and he always arrived on time. He was communicative and thorough when it came to completing our project. We had dozens of heated mats that needed to be installed for winter, and I was glad I didn't tackle it myself. A/C replacement went through without a hitch! My SuperPak unit was still using old, expensive R-22 Freon which had leaked out (sorry, Planet!). David and his team expertly removed the old unit from the roof of my building and replaced it with a new, modern unit. We had a house with uneven floors that was slowly sinking due to questionable framing and inadequate floor joists. David and his crew took on a job that many other carpenters were not equipped to handle. They replaced the floor joists, and completely reinforced the structure of the house. I had such a wonderful experience. I was having problems with my smart thermostat and electric baseboard heaters for months. They were not working in sync. David, the owner was quick to respond to the initial inquiry, professional, respectful, prompt, organized and thorough. The project areas were "clean" from start to finish. After talking through my problem with me over the phone at no charge, he quoted me 3 hours to install a new faucet and garbage disposal switch, and that's exactly how long it took. He had to drill a hole in my granite and made it look incredibly easy (I had trouble finding someone who would do this). His prices seem fair based on my collecting of other quotes. One of the new electrical parts he brought ended up being faulty (not his fault), and he stayed longer to switch it out without charging me for the extra time. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was exactly how I wanted it and perfect. He handled my new faucet with care, was respectful, and was the most patient man I have ever met. He even made sure to show me what he doing so I could learn. Lastly, in the age of COVID-19, he wore a mask and gloves the entire time and was extremely careful to touch as little as possible.
