After the floor was put in I had a knot in one of the floor boards and it splintered over 6 1/2 years. So, I called Roberta the owner about my problem and he told me he would get someone on it and that it would be about $200 or $300 when he had a chance. 2 or 3 weeks go by with phone tag and no one showing up. I took off for a 4 day stay in the mountains to help someone out from hurricane Helene. When I got back more promises and still no one showed up. So, I called around and got a hold of Maurice a guy that did floor repairs for other businesses that put floors in. Maurice stated that his standard price for repairs was $300, he took longer than expected and the pieces that had saved for this issue had swollen so they did not fit and Maurice had to modify and return to repair it. Maurice mentioned that Roberta's crew did a good job on the floor installation, but that I paid too much for my floor. Going prices was $7 a square ft. in 2018 not $11. a square ft. I tend to barter with car sellers and roofers, now I will barter with everyone. So, in short if you have a problem with your flooring, Roberta owner of Tri Point Flooring will have you hanging. As of 3-2-2025 Horrible Experience!!! Sloppy and negligent- Owner (Mr. Roberto Rivera) admitted that a contaminated applicator messed up hardwood finish in EVERY room. We will need to refinish the entire 1st floor all over again!!! *Caution: After the problems became evident, I asked Mr. R. for a copy of the 1-year warranty. We paid for it and yet he REFUSED to provide it! Then came a disturbing e-mail from Mr. R in which he asked me to remove my online reviews of his company in exchange for providing the warranty info. He said, "...remove all online reviews" in exchange for "giv[ing] [me] detailed warranty info, ...". I wonder if this warranty even exists. In the future I'll always ask for the warranty UPFRONT. ALERT- Tri Point's Approach to Summarizing Google Reviews Tri Point just unveiled a new "corrected" summary of their Google Reviews after my "1 Star" posting in which I noted they reported NONE of the 9 "1 Star" reviews (see attached screen shot). What's new? 1) Overall score adjusted downward from 4.9 to 4.8 Stars and 2) "1 Star" reviews have magically appeared while "3 Star" reviews have now disappeared from their bar graph. Interestingly, their summary of detailed reviews excludes all but 1 of 9 "1 Star" and all reviews below "5 Star", i.e., 14 "4" and 2 "3" Star. I would NEVER have hired Tri Point had I known of this deceptive practice. I'm smarter now and won't so easily in the future allow the wool to be pulled over my eyes. I ask Mr. R. to reach out and correct mistakes I may have inadvertently made in this Alert. 1. Tri Point Failed to Keep Their Promise to Refinish in 4 Days. Crew's negligence caused weird staining on floors. Mr. Rivera said floors need to be fully refinished again. But we expected the first refinishing would provide a " .flawless execution that meets & exceeds [our] expectations" as stated on Tri Point's website. 2. Mr. Rivera's Opinion of Quality of His Crew's Work His on-line reply to this review states "...the floor did not represent our usual quality of work". During his visit (see photos) he said: "All very weird"; "Very, very embarrassed"; "Something happened during application"; "...applicator was a bad applicator"; "The applicator in the van got contaminated...cross contamination"; "These are lap marks"; "...A huge inconvenience [for] you"; "I know this is overwhelming"; "I couldn't accept this". Mr. R did not perform a final inspection of the refinishing, and it seems neither did a crew member. 3. Mr. R's "solution" Refinish the entire 1st floor for a 2nd time. 4. Impact of a 2nd Refinishing on Homeowners We work from our home offices and cannot close our business for 2 consecutive weeks. Moreover, a 2nd refinishing would require a repeat of the entire process, e.g., close business for a week, pack up 1st floor belongings, place all furniture in storage, disconnect washer/driver/refrigerator, move to temporary housing for a week, clean dust (e.g., walls, windows, cabinet doors and drawers, floors), and move back in. 5. Mr. R's Refusal to Engage in Direct Communication Following my Yelp review Mr. R. posted it's important to have direct dialogue with folks. Yet, he has refused all my requests for such a dialogue & conveyed this by e-mail- "...No further communication is needed." 6. Failure to Disclose All Costs for Refinishing We were not told that following replacement of shoe molding (aka 1/4 round) there would be a visible unpainted gap along all 1st floor baseboards. Mr. R. later acknowledged he knew this problem would arise and we had to sort this out for ourselves. 7. BBB Rating Had I checked I would have discovered a B- rating and that would have been a deal breaker for me. Current rating has dipped to D+ as a result of my complaint that BBB describes as "Not Resolved". 8. Is Mr. Rivera In Unilateral Breach of Contract? I'm not an attorney so I can't answer this question. But Final Invoice balance = $0 and is marked "Paid". While we've met our obligation, Mr. R refuses to provide a copy of the 1 Year Warranty so that we may understand options for mitigating floor failures during this period. read more

Tri-Point Flooring installed new wood floors in our home and refinished current wood floors, and then stained everything to match. PROS: The price was competitive. Some of the staff was pleasant to deal with. They were able to fit us in to the schedule during the time we had available. In general, floors look okay afterward. CONS: While some of the staff was pleasant, the owner wasn't as pleasant. Once the contract was signed, he didn't respond to emails as promptly and when he did, the emails were curt and didn't answer questions. We left our house for 2.5 weeks for the job to be done. On the day we arrived back, we finally were told that we couldn't get back into the house for another day and we scrambled to find a hotel at the last minute (for a decent price AND one that accepted pets). Too little notice on that in my opinion, and we had to pay for another night away. After we were back in the house, we noticed damage to the wall (large hole) and uneven application of the polyurethane in a couple places on the floor. It took a while, but finally a worker came out to fix the areas. The person who "fixed" the wall obviously was used to floors and not walls as the fix looked just as bad afterward. My husband had to redo it. They also must have had the front door open a lot as they were doing the project, as we found a dead bird in the house. Before dying, it pooped in several places on the wood floor and the crew had polyurethaned over top of the poop. Removing it was a pain. OVERALL: While the price was decent and the installation mostly okay, in hindsight, I would have preferred to spend a little more money on a different company and receive better service and better work on the smaller details. read more

The first floor in our 2000-built house was a mix of pre-finished hardwoods (slightly beveled between each board) and carpet. Roberto and his crew are wonderful and a pleasure to work with. The process was straight forward, many options and choices all presented very clearly for us including cost considerations. They worked fast - removed all the carpeting, installed hardwoods to match our existing floors, actually blended them together, sanded the entire first floor of the house, stained, finished. The result is incredible - you would never know the house wasn't installed 100% hardwood from day 1, there are no transitions anywhere. And it looks incredible. We enjoy and comment on how much we love our floors often, even now 3 years after tri-point did this work. One day we'll hardwood the basement and Roberto will be our guy. read more

This review is about 2.5 years late....but better now than never! My husband and I purchased our first home in January 2015 and wanted to have the existing wood floors refinished. We visited Roberto in his showroom to talk about what we wanted to do and seek recommendations from him. Roberto took it upon himself to put us at ease with what we were looking to do, had several great recommendations for us, and basically took away all the new homeowner jitters we had! We ended up not only refinishing the existing floors but also had hardwood installed in the remainder of the home because of his confidence in what he was doing and the competitive quote he gave us. Roberto did a great job and we have recommended him to several acquaintances of ours since then. Lastly, we would definitely go back to him for our future needs. read more

Unfortunately I can't recommend Tri-Point Flooring. We had our floors refinished this summer. There are spots on the floor, there are lumps of dust encrusted flooring finish along the edges, the stairs were gouged in several places, and we were left with a large scratch in the kitchen floor which they refused to fix saying we had made the scratch. There was dust all over the house. The crew left materials on our front porch and in our grass. We were very disappointed in our experience with this company. read more

This was my worst experience with a contractor i've ever had. I got to experience the full flavor of this company as i had laminate, hardwood, and carpet installed and had hardwood and carpet removed. 1. The process to get the floors chosen and papers signed was really long and required multiple trips to the office, when i was willing to work over email and had made my decisions almost immediately. I have an 8-5 job, and their hours were really inconvenient. They were not open after 5 even 1 day a week to accommodate the people working 9-5. During this process i informed them i had a dust allergy and asked about their cleanup procedures. They assured me that they'd clean up afterwards and i didn't need to do anything but move furniture. I asked twice: Are you sure i don't need to prepare the house in any way. They said no, twice. This is important for later. 2. They named all the flooring by weird names that were hard to remember. So every time we had a discussion the "name" of the "series" for the floor was unclear. This almost resulted in them ordering the wrong floor. I don't understand why they aren't just referred to by their type... ie the laminate # X so we can both be sure what we're talking about since i don't work there. 3. After the weeks it took to convince them that i really just wanted to get this done and get the floors installed, they told me it would take 3 days at most. Instead it took 5. Their excuse for this was : A. They contract out the carpetting and "have no control over their schedule" ???? (which was never told to me at any point in the purchase process) B. "it was raining" the day of install. I asked if it was a humidity issue for measurement/install and they said no. The wood was already in the house. So why does this matter? Do they just not like the rain? 4. They deliver the wood weeks ahead of time, even when humidity/conditions of the house won't effect the final product. Since i was replacing all my floors i asked if they could store the materials that didn't need to be in my house to get acclimated becuase i had a 1200 sq ft house so my entire living room was full of wood. They said no. 5. When it came to actually install it, they did not communicate at any point in the process. I had left for the weekend so i wouldn't be in the way. They didn't tell me when they got there, when they left, or when they'd be done, i had to reach out to them. Nor did they ask me where to store their stuff. So they chose the best place: stacked up next to my boyfriend's new motorcycle he was super proud of such that it was higher than the seat of the bike (ie a fall risk). Cuz thats a great place. 6. When i got back they left ALL my windows open on the second floor and there was wood dust EVERYWHERE. All over the furniture, including the upholstery. THEY DIDN'T COVER THE UPHOLSTERY. Who DOES that. And they weren't done. THEY STILL HADN'T COMMUNICATED TO ME. I called them, obviously, very angry. They said something to the effect of 'oh, yeah, the carpet guys couldn't get there when we said they would' and scheduled a new time when now i'd have to be in the house. Again, the dust allergy. They also flat out refused to clean ANY of the mess and seemed to think it was totally ok that my furniture was now ruined because they didn't COVER it. Even painters cover furniture thats in the middle of the room when only the walls will be painted. I had severe respiratory symptoms for 3 weeks because of these assholes and i'm still finding dust in the crevices of my poor couches. 7. They drilled nails through the floor on the second floor through the ceiling of the first floor. So now there were several holes in the ceiling. They refused to fix these when i asked about them. 8. They took out the smoke detectors from the ceiling to avoid them going off and didn't replace them. 9. At several points in the install they backed something into the walls and put a hole or a large noticeable dent in the drywall. They refused to fix this too, because (and i quote) "our workers are very careful, they wouldn't have done this". I have photographic evidence, that your "careful workers" damaged several walls. 10. I ordered 3 floor vent replacements, they only put in 2. So now they don't match, at all. Don't contract with these guys unless you want shoddy work and damage to the rest of your house and then lies afterwards and excuses. Also you will need to cover your upholstery yourself, but they won't tell you when you ask. And i hope you want to spend the next two weeks cleaning 2 inches of dust off of everything you own! Cuz they won't do it for you. I have documentation of everything mentioned above. Don't bother calling me, you know who i am but i'm done with you fools. read more

Our experience with Roberto and his company was fantastic from start to finish. Unfortunately, we had to replace our laminate floor due to a dishwasher problem. When we called for quotes from tripoint, the response was so quick and through that we had an appointment the same day. Roberto also listened to my initial questions and opinions and brought several samples specifically based on my input. His suggestion to use the brushed Hickory, solid three quarter, Williamsburg collection was perfect. It was also slightly different than what I had in mind but ended up to be a much better product. When it came to product delivery and installation the crew was polite, on time and very clean. We were able to have the floor installed while we were on vacation and we came home to a flawless new floor. Roberto also gave us several suggestions that actually saved us some money as well. This company ruined our floors. I advise you to stay far away. If things go well on the initial try, I guess the other reviews are right and they were lucky, but the mark of a good company is not what it does when things go right, but if they take responsibility for their mistakes. This one does not. If you have any problems, don't count on Roberto to take responsibility for his mistakes. We had our old oak floors taken to a natural state and applied two coats of nordic Bono. Unfortunately, the transition between two rooms was poorly done and when they came out to fix it, they had to do the whole "stripe" of floorboards for about 5 yard that goes through that doorway. Well, that long stripe never was the right color after they fixed it so they came out again, and sanded for the third time -- taking significant life out of the floor -- and the proceeded to do it once again so we have a light 1x5 yard wide stripe on our floor. Plus there are scratches here and there that no one is owning up to. And they are not willing to come out and fix it, offering us a $500 discount, which is laughable, given that they've taken a full extra sanding out of our floor. Or they said they would come back and fix a larger area and charge us $500, which is even more appalling. And in case you think its just us being difficult, believe me, its not. We are working with a contractor who has been working with them for years, and he has equally disappointed. So, if you want your floors done right and someone who is responsible for their actions, don't pick this company. read more

We decided to get hardwood floors installed and our existing ones refinished so they all matched. We arranged to be out of town for the week that we were having them done. Our plan was to come back on Saturday and we were assured that our furniture would be moved back in the house that morning. We even talked to the owner Saturday morning on our way back and were assured everything was finished and the furniture would be back in. We arrived home late that afternoon to find all of our furniture in our garage. While the floors looked nice for the most part, there were several mistakes. There was a hole in our dining room wall. The powder room and the floor of the pantry were terribly done and the shoe molding not removed or replaced, so there was floor stain all over the shoe molding and the baseboards. They had not moved the stove and refrigerator out as promised to stain under them. We called the owner immediately when we got home to find out why our furniture had not been moved. Most of it was stuff we could not move ourselves, especially with our two young children there. We had a very hard time getting a response from him and when we did, he could not understand why we were so upset about our furniture not being moved back into our home. He even told us it wasn't that big of a deal. This was on Saturday and he tried to say he would have someone come on Monday. Only after we got upset did he agree to have them come Sunday. After three trips back to our home they fixed the mistakes to the best of their ability but left our home very dusty from the additional sanding from correcting the repairs. We went with this company because of the low prices and our initial meeting with the owner. But you definitely get what you pay for. I would recommend spending more money on a company that will follow through with their promises and do the job right the first time. read more

ALERT!!! Roberto Rivera, owner of Tri-point flooring 100 Woodwinds Industrial Ct. Cary, is a irresponsible Liar, Leaves his job unfinished, (even though he was paid immediately) he put a lien on my house. In a verbal agreement I paid him an extra amount of money where he would finish the job, take care of the many damages, replace in money the things broken or stolen, we agreed that I would with hold money till the job was done. Somewhere he decided that he was not going to finish the job, since he had most of the money & it would no be worth his time. He knows that I am very chronically ill & fighting my third cancer. He will not fix the damages that his unsupervised crew have done. Instead, Roberto Rivera, states, "We did create... damage... but considering the size of the project, this was to be expected." Expensive material was broken and stolen. While Rivera was an absentee employer vacationing in Florida,a job over $18,000 job was being done. BEWARE read more
