I know this is a family run business which is why I hate to write a bad review. The owners were very friendly and knowledgeable. The person who came out babbled for half an hour before he got to measuring. We want to have almost our whole house redone, about 2400 sq ft., so a large project. He didn't have a sample we specifically requested be brought to the appointment. That was the first strike. After I received the quote, I emailed twice asking for additional quotes as we chose a different carpet. No response for 3 days. That is not acceptable. They lost our business. How could we trust the rest of the process after the bad start? We did decide on Mohawk products for both carpet and laminate flooring so they had the opportunity to install flooring for most of our house. We went with another family owned business. read more

Great service, we met with Kate who came out to give us an estimate and we liked what we saw from the beginning. Our floors were not in bad shape but needed a darker tone to somewhat match the LVP we had installed in a recent renovation. The only negative I would have is on us. We had painted the baseboards and shoe molding prior to getting the floors done and the removal and replacement of the shoe molding will cause us to have to repaint. Overall for the value we are very happy One service had a lower quote but three were much higher (1000). It would have cost about 6-7000 to get these covered with matching LVP This job was less than half that quote. We love our renewed floors and look forward to many years of use. read more

After having re-read this response I am still angered. I am not sure if "bed-bound" mother was understood. We literally have to transport her with a lift, handicap wheelchair and special van. It was NOT easy coordinating an entire household with a paralyzed family member in a hotel room no less. And "offered to repair" at no cost?!? It should have been done correctly the first time. Short version: staff was nice but the job was a mess and we are having to have our entireeeeee house redone. Longer version: We were so excited to use this company bc of the great reviews. The owner is super sweet and was helpful when flooring was backed up and made it work so everything could be delivered on time. That said, our floors are a mess. The planks are coming up after 3 months of use, the carpet is honestly our worst case scenario. Much like the planks, areas are already coming up. It's coloring and length are not at all what we wanted. We were re-doing our house from another state and it was pulling teeth to get any samples sent to us, even when we offered to order them direct from the flooring company site we just needed to know which ones to order based on availability. We were assured it would be the lightest color available and the length would short. It's not at all. It's a grey beige and very long and shaggy to the point that cheapens the look of our entire house. We had to turn down offers to have the house photographed bc the floors are honestly that much of a problem in comparison to the rest of the house. It's so upsetting bc there were a lot of other errors along the way working with this company but we stuck with them bc of how kind they were and other reviews seemed great. I thought all of the stress, follow up and coordination on our end would pay off. It didn't and we are paying a BIG price. I love all of the vendors we used and their amazing work with the exception of this one, unfortunately. I recently purchased a new home and requested an appointment to discuss flooring options and get a few quotes. Communicated that we'd definitely replace flooring on our 3rd floor and depending on the cost 2nd floor and stairwell - this was not a small job. The representative they sent was 4 hours late for our appointment. We were not notified but we called the office (30 minutes after the scheduled appointment). When he finally arrived, he was rude and unprofessional. We were presented few flooring options and then accused of "wasting his time". He promised quotes in the next two days, but it's been a week and we've heard nothing. I saw all the great reviews before I reached out, so I'm guessing this isn't the norm for A1. I would definitely recommend this company. We needed our floors redone upstairs to LVP because the animals kept peeing on the carpet. The sales representative Chris was extremely helpful in helping me figure out what to get done. I had other companies come and give me estimates, but A1 was very different. When Chris came, I knew that I would be in good hands and that I would be working with a company that really cared about their customers satisfaction. The customer service was great, they were always there to answer my questions and I went back-and-forth a few times with indecisiveness and they were patient and never got frustrated with me! **** JUNE 2, 2020 UPDATE AND RESPONSE TO KEVIN'S REMARKS** Our initial review was intended to be cordial, direct, and honest. The response provided by Kevin shows what kind of "owner/sales manager he is." Since he decided to disclose some personal information regarding the costs and size of the project, we feel it necessary to make another response. The fact he felt it was necessary to go there and disclose numbers was absolutely unnecessary and despicable. There are several phrases throughout Kevin's response to try to make him seem like despite his careless mistakes, that A1 is in the right. Kevin said," Sometimes we look at things from a different perspective. I suspect that may be a lot of what happened in this case." Correct, our perspective lens is honesty and integrity. Your lens is carelessness, unprofessionalism, and money driven. In our review, we fully acknowledged we were offered compensation for the damage done with Kevin cashing our check prematurely. It wasn't $500 though, it was $200. In regards to the particle flooring, we had no idea this was a thing. My wife and I are young professionals, first time home buyers, and have advanced degrees in the mental health field. We are admittedly naive when it comes to floor installation. Did Kevin pick up on that? Probably. We acknowledged both times in our review that it was offered we could walk from the project risk free. Not sure why Kevin felt the need to mention that again. I reiterate we wanted to stay with somebody local, you're welcome for the business, Kevin. In regards to the $1500 "discount" on the subflooring, the term discount is misleading. The way Kevin spins it is that A1 is some noble company offering discounts. This reduction in price was because Kevin wanted us to stay with A1 and decided A1 wouldn't make a profit off the installation of subflooring. The $1500 was the profit A1 would have made. Kevin made us aware of that several times. Interestingly enough, if Kevin was thorough from the beginning, he would've checked the subflooring. A1 actually would've made a profit. Finally, the most debated part of our conversations, was the furniture. Here is Kevin's quote: "Sometimes the existing condition of items just aren't made to be moved" Kevin is implying our furniture was already in poor condition, which it wasn't. This passive attempt to try and show us, the customers, held some responsibility for the damages done is absolutely pathetic. IF somebody chooses to hire A1 in the future (which we highly do not recommend), make sure your furniture is in pristine condition! Our furniture was pristine, your men are just reckless and careless. Kevin said, "Finally you requested another $500 refund. We agreed and settled on $400. In total you received reductions/refunds of $2,520 on a job of $12,985. That's almost 20%." The term 'refund' is misleading and you know it. It was compensation for damages done. It was MUCH MUCH lower than we thought was fair. The total project was also more than $12,985 (this is pre-tax figure). The $12,985 was the original quote PRIOR to the addition to subflooring. We paid the $3,000 for the subflooring. The $1,500 "discount" was the profit A1 would've made. Each time we addressed our concerns to Kevin, he always brought up money. It was like, "Well, if we resolve this quickly monetarily, it will go away." First and foremost, we wanted him to acknowledge the damages done and the carelessness of the crew. He NEVER acknowledged or apologized for his men DRINKING BEER on the job. In the end, it did have to come down to money. We felt we settled for a much lower cost that A1 benefited from. Our entire experience with A1 Floors was fantastic. We replaced approximately 1000 sq.ft. of carpet with luxury vinyl tile flooring . The installation was excellent! The installation took 2.5 days and the installers were very professional and efficient. We were not subjected to high-pressure sales pitches and the salesman was very professional and knowledgeable about the product offerings. We conducted quite a bit of research prior to securing estimates and we found that A1 provides an excellent product with excellent pricing.
