Tri-County Pools has just resurfaced our 20,000 gallon in-ground pool with PebbleSheen. We had had the pool replastered 5 years ago and that job had begun failing within the first couple of years. We'd taken the low bid back then. This time we took the high bid--and are glad we did. The previous job had left out the essential step of the Bond Coat to glue the new surface to the old. This time Tri-County chipped out all the previous plaster, sprayed a thick layer of bond coat, and then resurfaced it with a beautiful layer of Arctic White PebbleSheen. We were VERY IMPRESSED with how thoroughly the job was done. Much more work went into it than the job 5 years ago. From start to finish, the work crews were thorough, careful and cleaned up after themselves. And the pool looks better than ever. I recommend Tri-County Pools. Let me add that there'd been a misunderstanding on my part of one of the costs; Steve responded promptly and we amicably negotiated a resolution. I was impressed. read more

I cannot recommend Tri-County Pools for several reasons: 1) They were months and months behind schedule. The contract was to re-plaster our existing pool, re-tile, and build a sun-shelf. Tri-County told us it would be done within a couple of months but they did not complete the project for over 15 months after I had signed the contract! I had their number saved and would call them every week. They would re-assure me that "my name was on the board," but then they wouldn't show up. We were also renovating our house, and when that was almost complete, we told Tri-County about the upcoming home inspection. They told us over the phone (once again) that the pool would be completed in time for our home inspection. But it was not. The night before the home inspection, we had to drive to Home Depot to buy orange fencing to put around our pool since the unfinished/empty pool was considered an open cavity in our backyard. 2) When Tri-County re-connected the pool pump, they made a mistake with the electrical. It caused additional damage, and we had to replace parts that were previously working (around $750 in parts) b/c they got destroyed due to the incorrect wiring and voltage. We called and sent emails with photos of what happened and they did not offer to fix it or to pay for the replacement parts. We had to buy new parts for the pool pump and pay a new company to help us re-install the very thing that Tri-County had just done wrong. They have zero concern about customer satisfaction or about fixing something that they did wrong. 3) They also said they would fix little things, like openings in the drains that they installed in the deck (where someone could easily slice their toe)...and they never came back to do that either. We called several times. 4) When they came to build the sun-shelf, we were not home b/c our house was also getting worked on, and Tri-County's team built the steps going in the wrong direction of the agreed upon design. They did agree to re-build the steps according to the plan but it was just another delay in an already very delayed process. read more

I would Not ever recommend this company at all! Starting with the lady who answer the phone (after they get your money she is RUDE and does not want to listen! They charge you for things you Never get, then charge you equipment you can NOT use! The workers had a couple up hiccups and my husband jumped in with his own equipment to help them so it would Not delay the project any longer than it was! It was a complete redo that is not 100 percent but given the way we were treated I give this company a big Zero! Good luck getting back any kind if a refund. Moved into a new house and they had repaired a leaking waterfall with plaster work. 2 years later the waterfall is leaking again. Tried calling them over and over to get someone out to fix it and they are unresponsive. Not only did they do a bad job with their repair work but they won't even come out to look at it. As a disclaimer it is post covid and all pool companies are busy right now but absolutely terrible service. They should come out and repair their poor work. Do not recommend. read more

I contracted with Tri-County pools for the build of my small pool in 2019. In general, they were behind schedule and had to be chased down for every update during the process. The partner that deal with the business side is generally a decent person but over commits. The construction partner talked down to me (a woman) throughout the whole process and made excuse after excuse for things going wrong. The pool was quoted to be complete in 4 months and actually kicked off in December 2019 and they were still working on various pool items until October of 2020. They committed to fixing a few final items on the punch list and then backed out of the completion. This company claims that I never paid their final payment (less than $2000 for a job that cost well over $85,000 for which they were promptly paid at every issued invoice) and has held me hostage with warranty issues that have recently come up. I have stated to them that I would make the payment if they finish the job. I have now had to report them to the BBB and unfortunately have to have an attorney represent me so that I can in fact utilize my warranty on a job they never finished. Generally speaking, pool contractors are not great. I would not use this company unless you have no other choice. The construction quality was good but the business and management are terrible. Additionally - I would like to warn any potential clients with a letter that I had shared with one of the partners on August 7th 2020. I had committed to refraining from posting this letter but can no longer do that as the company is now threatening non-warranty for a very expensive pool. "John - I wanted to write you this letter to inform you that many people have asked me about the pool and I simply cannot, in good conscience, recommend working with your company. This is not due to you, or your professionalism. I am very happy with your early work, the quotes, the fact that you stayed on budget with only two change orders which were not out of line. It also seems like we got a sturdy product that will stand the test of time, but, that is yet to be seen. I certainly hope so. This is due to Dan []. Dan is extremely unprofessional. I asked him repeatedly in the process to provide me with a written schedule, with the order of how things are staged, and updates. I never got anything from him that was written other than some poorly put together emails and a whole lotta talking and finger pointing. I have constantly had to track him down. I have constantly had to call him and it got to the point where I won't even talk with him verbally as he runs around in circles and never commits to anything! With Dan, nothing is ever his fault and you can never get a clear answer. [] has now experienced this directly as well. Dan has tried to "man-splain" his incompetence to me on several occasions, never taking accountability or responsibility for anything. His snarky responses via text and email are at the very least infuriating and at the most, downright disrespectful and misogynistic! Just so you are aware, multiple people who work with Tri-County (and for you, by the way) have the same feelings about Dan: inefficient, no accountability and disrespectful. I know of a contractor that works with you that refuses to even speak with him directly due to how many times he has been disrespectful. I know he is an owner of the company, but, I bet your ratings and success would go up tremendously if you found someone else to either manage the construction process, or, be the interface with customers, rather than Dan. This company has serviced our HOA for at least the last three years since we bought our condo. They have been awful then entire time. Last summer they over-chlorinated the pool so bad it ate holes through my suit and I could only swim for about 30 minutes at a time before I would start to get a headache from all the chlorine. Everyone was complaining about the over-chlorination to the HOA, so they bought a brand new state of the art salt water system that uses very little chlorine. What does Tri County Pool Service do? They start dropping tons of chlorine in the pool, of course. This is a SALT WATER SYSTEM, folks! Here are so of the other troubles we've had with them: --They don't come when they say they are going to come --They don't clean out the pool when they mark on the log that they cleaned out the pool --They don't empty the gutters when they mark on the log that they emptied the gutters You get the point. Here's the kicker. Recently, they sent a 17 year old kid out to service the pool. The only thing he managed to do was break our new $8,000 salt water pool motor. When we called and emailed Tri County Pool to complain, they didn't respond...and they didn't respond. Finally, when we got a response, they fired us instead of the incompetent kid! Would like to give a shoutout for Tri County Pools, especially Steve. I accidentally vaccumed 2 diving sticks and they got stuck in my skimmer plumbing and caused a stoppage. I had 3 other companies out before Steve and they not only wasted my time, but a lot of money with no results in clearing the blockage. Steve came out and spent over an hour accessing the problem and giving me an estimate and stated he would be back. Instead of cutting and replacing the skimmer and damaging the deck, he dug under and cut pipe at the source of the problem. Our deck was not torn up, our skimmer did not have to be replaced. He and his helper, Dillion did this at a very reasonable price saving us thousands of dollars. Even though this was an accident on my part that caused the problem, at least I have finally found a decent, honest pool repairman that did a great job and did not take advantage of me as others had already done. We used Tri County to do several pool repair projects. They did a good job on replacing a pool pump and some other repairs. The problem is you have to call them repeatedly to get them to come out. Once they are actually on site they do good work. Our mistake was using them to resurface the pool (recommended by a friend who had hers done). They did a good job but after a few months we started having issues with black spots that were secondary to the install (according to the owner). We called multiple times and could never get them to come out to repair them. Then out of the blue a repair person shows up when we were not in town...no phone call or appointment. Multiple calls later and nothing. More calls, nothing...you get the idea. Follow up is non existent. Basically I'm done with this company and would NOT recommend. Use at your own risk. read more

I knew I had a foundation problem that was causing leaks and subsequent cracks in the coping, decking and perimeter tile. After using a pool leak detection company (they found one of three leaks) then having the pool drained and the underlining foundation issue taken care of, I was then tasked with finding a pool company that could bring new life back to my pool. We use it a lot! I contacted several companies with little success. They were either disinterested, or showed a lack of understanding as to what I needed. I was looking for a specific outcome, but also for suggestions as to how to achieve that outcome. One company that I had used previously, could hardly be bothered to return phone calls. I always paid on the day the invoice was given and never questioned their billing, so go figure. They finally did send me an estimate, that was three times what I ended up paying and did not cover the main issue. They also offered no advice. I finally reached Steve at Tri County, on a weekend. He called me back early on Monday morning. We scheduled an appointment and he was there on time. We discussed my issues and within a few days, he had ideas and solutions I had never thought of. He offered a very fair price and his men started work within a few days. The end result was my family got a pool, without the earlier problems and it looks great. In the summer of 2015 we had Tri County install a pool fence. The pool was newly constructed and needed a regulation fence to meet code. We met with Tri County who showed us many options. We have a beautiful view in our yard, and opted for a black metal fence that allowed us to retain our view while securing the pool. The fence looks great and was completed in one day. After it was complete, a landscape contractor damaged one of the panels while working on our pool deck. Tri County got a new panel out to us right away. 1 star is too many for Tri County Pools. If you can imagine the worst kind of contractors that take your money and skip out on jobs, they are it! They asked for 1/4 payment upfront, work for two days and caused some damages.. when confronting them with damage, they skip out on the job and kept the money. Pretty unhappy with these folks. We bought a home with a pool and prior to purchase had them come out and inspect it. On the inspection list they noted that there was a leak in the air relief valve, but there were no mechanical issues even though the pump was making a horrible grinding noise. That was December 30, 2015. We bought the house and I contacted ti-county to repair the valve. I tried twice and got no response so I had someone else come fix the issue. Flash forward to April 1, 2016 - Every time the pump tries to come on it throws the breaker. I called another company to come replace the pump and now everything works fine. If we had KNOWN the pump was on it's last legs we could have done something about it prior to signing the contract on the house. Instead we paid for an inspection that was not worth the paper on which it was written PLUS we had to shell out $$$$$ for a new pump. I'd certainly wound't spend my money with them again. read more

Tri County Pools built us a great pool and we have enjoyed for many years. Because we like the pool builder we decided to use Tri County Pool Services. We later learned it is a separate company from the builder, owned and operated as an independent company. So, to the "pool service" review. It is our opinion that there is turnover in the folks who clean the pool. Some new hires have never cleaned pools before or worked with equipment. They do get trained, and then it's trial & error until they get it right. Then you get a new guy. When you call the office to let them know that there's a problem, be aware that you will have to chase after the lady as she is not great with follow up. She does pass on the message but, don't expect a call back. A couple of things they do well is repair equipment (the owner does it and, well) and, send the bill on time. So, do have them build the pool but, consider other services. read more
