Don't hire these people So I originally posted this review on their Facebook page but after she responded by saying she was going to sue me because of this review I decided to post it here as well. This was the worse experience. I would never recommend Crites Pools to anyone. I think the any positive reviews on here were either people that were related to her or made up accounts. I can't believe anyone would actually think these people are professional and that their work was actually good. So disappointing.... Among a slew of things that went wrong with this company, we are now in the process of working with another pool company to have all the tile replaced. The tile was crooked, there were problems with the electrical system they installed, and the color that we picked out for the bottom of the pool wasn't the one that was placed in the pool. I spoke with other customers of Crites Custom Pools and they are all having issues with their pools. I wish we would've done a little more research before we agreed to having Crites custom pools on our property. read more

DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE! - BUYER BEWARE!!!!! Quick Update on the review I posted below... as soon as this was posted I received a voicemail from Donna Crites stating she was never made aware of the incompletion of punch list items (which she was, AND SHE NEVER came out to confirm completion) and was nice as pie to "resolve" the issues. Based on our interactions, she WILL NOT follow through, so again, BEWARE. She WILL threaten you with a lawsuit if you don't take down a negative review. Even when it is completely and lawfully accurate. Our pool build took about a year to complete after being told it would be 90-120 days. Our contract stated 4 months for completion. It took countless emails, calls and texts to get them to respond at all, and litigation threats in order for them come back and finish the work after the plaster was installed. It's been over a year since the build started and they still have punch list items they never finished. All work moved quickly until they received 90% of the total funds. Then they disappeared for over a month, and didn't respond to texts, calls and emails. They misquoted our included excavation price, and then invoiced us for $2600 in "overages". The project manager, Mike Bond, ignored information we provided about our lot and therefore expected us to pay for his mistake. They then told us (in writing) they would refuse to finish unless we paid the invoice even though they acknowledged it was their mistake and they were at fault. They did over $15K in damage to our yard and landscaping, damaged our neighbors yard (which we paid to fix) and did such poor work overall that our entire irrigation system had to be replaced. They also reinstalled the coping around the pool twice, and each time they "fixed" it, they damaged the pool and made the whole situation worse. See images of the finished tile work. AND, we hounded Donna Crites for weeks to please check on the quality of the work that was "fixed". We never received responses, and she NEVER FOLLOWED, SHOWED UP TO INSPECT, ON ANY WORK THAT WAS CONSIDERED "COMPLETED". We had to project manage the process from start to finish. The amount of time that Crites expected us to be available to meet their subcontractors and provide information on the project was unreasonable and unnecessary. Our work days were interrupted constantly because our PM needed information that was already provided. Moreover, there is a complete lack of accountability from the owner and her staff. Any issues that came up were our fault, even though we over communicated and documented every step of the process via email. Contracts were not honored and we had to chase the owner for over 6 months to finish the punch list items, which, in the end, were never finished. read more

I would highly recommend Crites Custom Pools if you are looking for inground pool. They were fast to respond to come look and give us a quote with color pictures. We could not be happier. They walked us through every step. We love that it is a family owned business. When the ice stormed happened, they made sure we were a top priority on getting our pool equipment repaired. Cant say enough about Crites Custom Pools, they truly put the custom in custom and at a fair price. I couldnt be more happy with the outcome and the craftsmanship absolutely speaks for itself! I was allowed to do what I wanted and within reason and they helped absolutely every single step of the way. The customer service still is and was by far some of the best I have had and communication (which is HUGE on a size project like this) was second to none. Can't express enough how amazing it was dealing with Donna and her team. We met with a lot of builders and felt most comfortable with Crites custom pools. This was a huge purchase for my wife and I. Donna treated us like family through the whole process. Vinnie the superintendent was there every step of the way, communicating everything that was going on with the pool. We were pretty uneducated about how a pool works and what materials we should use on our pool due to this being our first pool. Felt like we got the " family hook up" with how they treated us with everything. The pictures will speak for them self. We didn't get the biggest pool but it's perfect for our little family. Would recommend using them over anybody else in town. read more

Time wasters! Scheduled to get a bid, the guy doesn't show up, I call 30 minutes after they are supposed to be there and was told they will be there in another an hour and a half.. because thats is all I have to do on a Saturday is wait around for a bid! Then 3 days later I have to call them to ask for the bid, and I was told they would send it on Friday.... Friday comes and goes 1 week later still haven't heard from them! If this is how it is getting a bid from this company I would extremely concerned and cautious on working with them on such a big project! read more

Go Elsewhere! Working with Crites Pools was by far the poorest & most unprofessional experience we have ever had working with any building General contractor (GC)...& we have worked with many. If you are looking for a very frustrating experience with the G.C. & owner who over-promises & under-delivers; does not make it a practice of proactively sitting down with the home-owners to ensure alignment on key next steps & major milestones of the pool construction & design process; or a GC who you cannot reach & will not call you back or does not call you back for days & even weeks or only texts you back when you asked them to call you; who does not manage & communicate with their sub-contractors well & as a result the subs make mistakes, or do not show up or are not aligned on what they supposed to do & as a result the subs are regular making mistakes & as a result have have to redo things because they did not do things right, then Donna Crites & Crites pools is the right pool company for you. If you looking for an opportunity to become the GC for your own pool project , knowing that you are paying Crites to do your pool, then this will be a good opportunity for you to learn on the fly. Our pool experience was so frustrating that by the end of the 7 months (yes, that is right, 7 months for a 40,000 gallon pool) that we were not even talking to them. They were very open to changes and Donna helped me every step of the way including design and picking out tiles and plaster. Well this review has nothing to do with building a actual pool because we shall never know what the finished product could have looked like. We were actually willing to commit due to the first and second appointment of what we thought went fine but then poof--GONE! Rather that put any names at all I am sure folks will get to deal with the representative I am speaking about. Once I realized almost two weeks after our design appointment this rep had pretty much vanished I called the main office. The person I spoke to was kind to me, said she would have him call me, but that didn't happen. If there was a personal emergency for someone that is understandable but a simple heads up like, "your business is important to us please be patient," you know just a generic something to keep potential buyers interested. Pretty crazy though the representative himself literally did not respond to us at all. Apparently I am no where close to the first having gone through this with Crites Custom Pools. A huge thanks to Crites Custom Pools that we were not committed to the point of no return. Lots of horror stories out there on the actual builds we have read/expected but not them taking our money! We decided to put a pool in last fall, and Crites was able to work us into their schedule quickly to meet the terms of our loan. As first time pool owners, we had a big learning curve. Donna came out several times to walk us through what we needed to know. Over the past year, we have had a couple of issues come up, always after 5 pm or on weekends, and Donna has been very responsive. She would text me back immediately and even FaceTimed with me a few times to trouble shoot solutions. When we couldn't resolve it by phone, she came out within 24 hours to work on it. You don't find this level of service very many places these days! read more

well...since Crites finished our pool, the blower on the hot tub has broken 3 times and repaired 3 times. It broke again 3 weeks ago, my wife and I have contacted donna crites 3 times and we are still waiting after 3 weeks to have our hot tub repaired. Our pool is only 4 months old and the hot tub has only been used 5 or 6 times at most. Having Crites build our pool was a big mistake. I noticed the comment from D Crites the owner stating the problems I've been having were operator error. I think that is an interesting comment since the last time she was here to fix the problem she could not get it to work and had to drain the spa and spa lines to get it working..that is not an operator error if you have to do that. After Crites made that repair, it broke again and the blower just dies on its own after a while without touching any buttons. That is hardly an operator error. It would be nice to have this problem fixed once and for all. read more

Let me first say that it takes a lot for me to go out of my way to 'warn' others about concerns I have about a company or service, I like to live by the motto.....If you don't have something nice to say................' But my experience in dealing or more appropriately NOT DEALING with Crites Pools DROVE me to share! I purchased a home that had a Crites pool installed 3 years ago, I noticed the ground on the back side of the pool was very damp, I called Crites and explained the situation, they were helpful on first contact, and sent someone out to start a 'bucket leak test', first step in the leak investigation. Although in setting up the test....they didn't turn the auto-fill feature off, so this was a wasted trip. But it was also the LAST contact I've had with them, over the next 3+ weeks I have been unable to make any contact with them, I've left voice mail messages, test messages on two contact numbers that they have dealt with me prior. The only conclusion I can come too is..........Crites Pools doesn't care if you have a problem with their product! I am in the process of getting another company to diagnose the problem, and if it turns out to be an issue with the quality of their work, I'll be taking this to the next step! read more

I had looked all over for a specific pool pump. Two I had ordered online were received damaged. I spoke to Donna at Crites Custom Pools and she said she would find the pump I wanted and she did find it and very quickly. It was at a good price and to top it off she even delivered it to my house. Donna was extremely professional and helpful. She went above and beyond to help me. We talked about my pool she is extremely knowledgeable. I would highly recommend doing business with her. We built our swimming pool during the spring of 2011. We reviewed at least 6 different companies over the course of 2-3 years and right before we decided on Crites we surveyed the few that were on the top of our list. From the first time I spoke with Donna and with Mike our sales person, I felt like it was our decision on the design and how much we were willing to spend. I did not get that feeling from several of the other companies that really pushed specific packages and amenities. We chose Crites based on our initial interviews with them and because Mike took the time to explain the entire process from start to finish. He did not sugar coat any of the process and let us know about the subs and potential delays due to weather and over booking. I believe they use some of the best subs in Austin. If you want quality work, you may have to wait a little longer for it and weather is always a factor with construction. We went with the Pool and Spa combo and we use the spa year-round. Donna definitely has an eye for design and she made some tweaks as construction began to enhance our layout. She went over all of the details with us before she made the changes, but I believe it made a big difference on esthetics of the layout in our backyard. Not everything went perfect. However, Donna and Mike handled all of our concerns professionally and quickly. We had a weather delay along the way and subs that appeared to be overbooked. In the end though, Crites delivered a beautiful product. Donna has been a resource from day one and has helped us with numerous questions and warranty items with our Hayward equipment. We bought the filter, pump and heater from Hayward and the three warranty has been beneficial. Hayward had to replace our filter motor and it was covered under warranty 100%. I would definitely recommend Crites for your swimming pool construction. They are professional and stand behind their product 110%. read more

The quality and service they have delivered has been an exceptional experience. When we began this process we interviewed a number of local pool companies and found ourselves most comfortable with Crites. Throughout the process we knew what to expect and they were extremely flexible and accommodating. The service after the sale has also been outstanding. Over the past six years (and even as recent as today) the Crites team has answered my phone calls and always answered any questions that we have. Even when they truly had no obligation to help Donna and her team have been there for us giving us advice or coming out personally to address any concerns. We absolutely LOVE our pool but more importantly we love Donna and her team for always being here! I'm happy to personally speak with anyone about my experience!
