Conner shows up and his hand is wrapped in a protective trauma splint, having just smashed it while working on an appliance the day or so before, so the guy literally is one-handed. He then proceeds to repair our dryer as if he had another invisible arm and hand. He got that thing apart with finesse and skill somehow managing with only one decent hand. It was awesome and he wasn't a hacker, beating the tar out of our dryer like some Joe 6-pack (a low-quality repair guy who will do any job for a 6-pack of cheap beer.) Not hard to imagine the discomfort from throbbing pain the guy endured to deliver his brand and take care of his family, a very respectable ethic. I offered to give him a hand (couldn't resist the pun) when he needed it and he thanked me, but never asked. RESPONSIVE AND QUICK TO SCHEDULE. He was responsive through my Yelp messaging request and scheduled our dryer repair quickly. When he arrived, the problem was as we thought, a failing belt. He also suggested the wisdom of replacing another related item (I forgot the part), as it was wearing and also typically goes soon after the factory belt, indicating the high probability of saving us money from not having to pay him labor to come back out in a month or so and open up the dryer again! Conner earned more of out trust in that moment, not to mention it is a suggestion a homeowner loves to receive. COMPETITIVE PRICING. His pricing was very competitive, even though we weren't shopping for the cheapest option, but rather preferring sooner scheduling and quality. Steve had to go get a $60 plastic part the cost for them to come out is $125. My total bill was 185. It took a day and a half because of having to get parts I had a chance to clean all the parts so that when my machine was reassembled, it didn't have 12 years of dog and human grossness, it truly wasn't that bad but still. I will call these guys again and again less is more if you have older stuff it was built better than the new stuff that's on the market appliance wise again this was a washer. Through the Angie's list website I sent a request to have someone get back to me. Since it was Sunday I knew it wouldn't be until Monday before I heard from anyone. Well I was WRONG! The email was sent at 11:30 am and I received a response at 1:00 pm that they could come out on Monday (the next day) and what time would be good for me? Wonderful!! They also explained there was a $65 service call, and that would get credited back if my repair cost over $75. I said in my email I understood and I think that is very fair. Monday morning we received a phone call from Norm at around 8:30 and we had an appointment for that day between 1-3. Norm called later to let us know closer to which time he'd be and then he called to let us know he was on his way. Excellent communication. He arrived, and in today's new normal, he was CDC compliant. He was very friendly and professional. We showed him where to go and he went to work on my 13 yr Amana fridge which hasn't given me one problem since the day it was purchased. He looked at everything. My husband was asking questions and Norm wasn't just an inexperienced guy they sent out. He knew his business and was showing my husband which worked with what, what was supposed to be working etc.. Alas, in the end, there was nothing even the experienced Norm could do. My Amana died. She died with dignity, though, and we were not forced to subject her to hundreds of dollars of needless repairs that would have done no good. Norm probably could have tried to make some "repairs" and charge us but he is honest. I will keep High Desert Appliance Repair in my contact list and when something breaks, which it will something always does, this company will get my business.

There is a lot to be said for a company who takes responsibility for their actions, so I appreciate that. The igniter went out on our oven and we called Steve's. Ash came out and replaced the igniter. A short time later, the oven would not heat again. We were still under warranty, so Ash came out again and said it was a faulty igniter and replaced it again. After that, the oven seemed to be working, but then the door would blow open we smelled gas. We called the gas company and he knew immediately it was a "misaligned igniter". We were informed it was extremely dangerous and the gas was turned off. We called Steve's once again and were told we would need to pay again as this was a "new" issue. It was like pulling teeth to get them to come out again so we had another company come out and they discovered the igniter was installed incorrectly-flipped around so the actual igniter piece was to far away from the burner to ignite properly. (Because it was incorrect, it only had one screw holding it on when there were holes for two screws, but in this incorrect position, the holes didn't line up. So the tech didn't recognize that something was wrong and only put one screw!) The gas would build up in the oven and then eventually reach the threshold to ignite and explode and blow the door open and release gas into the house!! It was beyond a novice mistake on the part of Steve's that could have been disastrous for my family. If I could give negative stars, I would.
