Overall, the experience was good. The food was delicious, and everything was prepared and served on time. One small detail stood out, though , our order was taken quite late, even though it was obvious that we had already reviewed the menu and were ready to order. It seemed like the staff member who was supposed to take our order may not have been very interested in assisting us, so another staff member eventually took care of us. After that, the food arrived on time and was very enjoyable. The only minor issue was that the hummus felt like it was missing a little something. We come to this area annually for the Monterey Jazz Festival and always stop in this place. We always sit outside where the ambiance is great and highly recommended. There is only one bathroom so there is always a wait for that. The service is always great. But, the food is the main attraction (pics attached). We got a cup of clam chowder for $7 and is probably the best I've ever tasted. We also got the Greek salad ($15) with salmon ($14) which is always amazing. We also got the Gyros Sandwich which is served with French Fries for $20. Also really good. If you're in the area, this is a must try. It's also in good proximity to wine tasting. read more

This is a cozy restaurant a little ways down from the main shopping street of Carmel. They have a little rooftop section which was fun to dine at for dinner on a warm summer evening. It truly did feel like a rooftop! Service was excellent and everyone was very friendly. We ordered a few things and overall enjoyed our meal: - Baba ghanoush (4/5): I'm an eggplant lover and really love this dip in general with Mediterranean meals. It was accompanied with pita bread. I give this a 4 because it had oddly bitter aftertaste, something I hadn't tasted before and wondered if maybe the olive oil drizzled on top was contributing to the bitterness. Still pretty good and I cleaned that up! - mushroom truffle ravioli (3/5) : I didn't quite taste the truffle which I was hoping there would be more of. Also, I only got 5 ravioli pieces which felt like a small quantity considering the price. It was also too cheesy for me, but this might just be a personal taste and I won't judge the dish for that - ribeye special: (5/5) my husband ordered this, it was on the special menu for the day. This is a charming little spot! I wish we had the chance to sit outside --it looked like a great atmosphere. I didn't realize the bread was complimentary, so I ended up ordering an extra side with garlic--but no complaints, it was delicious. The bread they bring out is seriously good. First time customer and unfortunately disappointed. Ordered food for pickup. Spent $47 for 1 order of chicken Alfredo which was was maybe 2 cups worth. For $28? Ordered a Caesar salad as well. Small portion with a tiny cup of dressing and Parmesan cheese. It didn't even have croutons. Maybe the experience is better when you dine in, but I felt completely ripped off. I asked for forks they said they ran out. OK, I understand that but they didn't even include napkins. It was just very cheaply packaged and "thrown together". Wow!!!! This restaurant far exceeded my expectations! I thought it would be so cool to visit a new place out in Carmel I've never been and to my surprise it felt like I walked into heaven! The staff is so charming, kind and wonderful! We even met the amazing owner who was so gracious, so humble and so kind to me and my sister always checking in on us and giving us such wonderful care! Cute little spot in Carmel. The concept of a treehouse restaurant is quite unique and something I haven't seen before. We were seated right away on a Saturday afternoon but it was already pretty busy. We got waters right away. Unfortunately, we weren't served complimentary bread even though we asked for some and the table behind us got some :/ Apps- we ordered the grilled calamari and babaganoush with pita bread. The calamari was steak style and came with tartar sauce, it was quite delicious and wasn't chewy. The eggplant and pita was good but not great. The pita was kind of rough. We also ordered the mushroom ravioli and the chicken pesto pasta. Both were really good and the mushroom ravioli had wild mushrooms that were delicious. No one is particularly mean, but no one makes an effort to make you feel welcome either. This restaurant is a small gem. It is perfect for eating outside on the patio in good weather or at night under the heat lamps. We tried the yellow Thai curry and it was *fantastic*! It was one of the best yellow curries I've ever had. We also tried the lamb stroganoff. It was excellent. We were blown away. The restaurant is so unassuming but the food delivered so much flavor. Our experience here could have been way better! We started off strong being seated at their cute rooftop patio deck. However, it was very cozy with the tables placed quite close to each other that that it was a bit uncomfortable. Each table's conversation is very audible and if you have children or dogs, it's difficult to manage. The staff coming by to take your order or deliver your food have to weasel themselves between tables to reach you. We ordered the Clam Chowder, which was light and creamy and quite good. The oyster crackers that came with were a bit stale, but the dish itself was a nice starter. I ordered the Yellow Thai Curry which was a hefty $32. You'd expect this to be good given the price and the size of the dish, but it was utterly disappointing. The curry was salty and sour (too much lime) and it was difficult to eat. We witnessed a neighboring table send the same dish back as we were leaving. To be honest, I wish I did that! We also ordered a Chicken Pesto Pasta for $26 which was just okay. No complaints but it tasted like what we make at home, and if that was the case... I would just make it at home? As we are waiting for our food, there were more parties that arrived and got seated. By the time we left, it was a maze to exit because it was compacted with people. It felt really claustrophobic when the tables are full. Overall, it was a poor experience and was not worth the cost at all. read more

Their lunch menu was very complete and all three of us got different things that we loved...the lamb kebab was nicely done, although a bit drier than expected, having ordered it medium....the grilled salmon was a large piece of fish, which was tender and moist....the pasta dish was decadent and done perfectly al dente. The service was very good and they allow dogs on the patio deck. Unisex restroom inside is located next to a wine private room that can be reserved for special occasions. Let's start off with the service, because everyone was so attentive and efficient. From the second we walked in to the time we left, the staff was making sure we were taken care of. It was a Saturday and fairly busy, but the service was quick! I got the Osso Buco and my husband got the lamb Kebobs. 10 out of 10! The Osso Buco was FALLING OFF the bone. Great place in the middle of Carmel. We sat on the deck and managed to eat between storms. The restaurant is doggo friendly and we had a nice lunch with our pup. Unfortunately we were so hungry we forgot to snap Pics of the appetizers but the bruschetta and Gyro appetizers were delish. We both opted for the chicken pesto sando. We started off pretty strong, being able to choose where we got to sit,(either patio or inside), was a big plus. Except when we got sat, it was the only table that had direct sunlight with 0 shade whatsoever. This isn't the issue, it was the hostess who sat us. She visibly got upset at the fact that we didn't want to be the only table to be hit with sunlight while eating food. After asking to be reseated, we were told to pick a table from anywhere inside. Picked the table which was a good spot, but we noticed there was little to no customer service. Barely even from the waiter. The only people to have solid manners were a food runner and busser. The Food: If you want to go to place that utterly disappoints your tastebuds after driving a long time to go eat at the beach, this is absolutely the right spot. This place made the worst chicken Kabob I've ever had in my entire life. It was Unseasoned, tastes directly defrosted and tap water, the kebab wasn't even cut into kebab slices, they just stick two bad tenders on a stick and call it a day. The rice was even worse! There is absolutely no flavor in the food. I genuinely almost threw up after eating the food. The best part, Only One Restroom! I would've have even been able to throw up properly either! The only decent item from the menu was the Shrimp Tempura. All the food here we ate we would've made better at home and was absolutely not worth driving out here for this. We came on labor day weekend with no reservations and they kindly fit us in a table for two! The service was great (family run) and food was delicious (the lamb kabob cooked on medium was perfect and it was so tasty)! We sat on the rooftop and it was beautiful with the flowers, lights, and Carmel's amazing weather!! I just wish the table was scooted slightly away from the ledge where I saw a spider. We ordered the clam chowder (very good) and the lamb kabob plate (a healthy and tasty balance). Their bread with olive oil was also very yummy! Treehouse Cafe has been one of my favorite restaurants in Carmel--always reliable, consistently delicious, and welcoming. That's why I chose it to celebrate my birthday with a couple of friends and our pups. Sadly, what should have been a perfect evening was tainted by a very entitled couple who made the entire experience far from enjoyable. When I made the reservation, I knew the restaurant allowed dogs on the balcony, so I specifically requested a spot there. While they didn't have availability at my requested time, a gentleman (who I believe was one of the managers) assured me he would do his best to accommodate us later. No problem--I appreciated the effort. When we arrived, we were informed there was no space available on the balcony, but the staff was able to seat us inside, which I was more than happy with. The service was warm and welcoming, and we were ready to enjoy our meal. Everything was going great--until about ¾ through the meal, when my friend's pup let out a few cries from inside their enclosed stroller. Now, here's where things took a turn for the worse. A couple--whom I could only categorize as a "Karen and a Ken"--was seated nearby. I could tell right away they were going to be trouble. Ken immediately started treating the waitstaff terribly, demanding things like "Uh, can we have some bread, can we get service here?!" in a rude, condescending tone. My friends and I overheard his entitled behavior and were already put off by his attitude. Then, once he heard the cries from the pup, both Ken and Karen turned their attention to us. They immediately made a scene, complained to the waitstaff, and even called the manager over. It felt completely unnecessary--after all, the pup was inside an enclosed stroller, and the cries were not disruptive to the point that they should've warranted such a reaction. I lived in New York long enough to know how to handle situations like this, but I bit my tongue because I was there to enjoy my favorite dish--Grilled Seabass over mashed potatoes and spinach--and spend time with my friends, not to get into a confrontation with a couple of entitled strangers. It's unfortunate that some people feel the need to make others feel small just to boost their own egos. It was an unfortunate end to what could have been a wonderful birthday dinner. I love the Treehouse Cafe and will continue to return, but it's a reminder that a few bad apples can sour the experience for everyone read more

Ambiance eating outside on the deck/tree house patio was cool though but very crowded. Only plus was that we could bring our pup. Service was nonexistent, no one came to refill any waters. It's our first time to eat here, and we were glad we did! This is a nice, cozy restaurant. They have a beautiful outdoor seating that feels like you are on top of trees. It was cold that day, so eating outside was not an option. The food here is excellent! We love the Grilled Calamari, Seafood Paella, Mushroom Truffle Ravioli and their Chicken Kabobs. They also gave us this delicious bread and olive oil with herbs & Parmesan cheese that went well with our meal. The service here is great! Our server was friendly and quick. Such a love place! I was on my own and exploring, what a cute place! The food is delicious and the ambience charming.

I am giving this restaurant a benefit of a doubt. Most of the food was very good...the Paella (top notch) and the Yellow Curry with prawns (good). However, the wait staff was a little distracted that weeknight. The clam chowder came and needed some flavor so I opted for salt and pepper however, there was none on the table. Trying to get someone to even look in our direction was difficult. Finally after politely putting my hand up several times, I finally waved my hand high in the air to get someone's attention. Their response was great. Then our meal came and the curry had chicken in it...not shrimp. (even after the waiter and I briefly discussed that the meal had prawns not shrimp in it) Again, I started with a polite hand up but after awhile I ended up waving it back and forth. Once they saw us, we did get that changed in good order. So maybe in future they won't be so distracted. read more
