This was my second time visiting Louie Linguini's, and both experiences have been consistently great! This time, my husband and I decided to sit in the bar area so we could catch the second half of the World Cup game. The bar was pretty empty when we arrived, so naturally our bartender was extra attentive and took great care of us. Our drinks came out quickly and were strong, but still delicious and well made. It was the perfect spot to relax, grab a drink, and enjoy the game. I love finding places that are consistently good, and Louie Linguini's has delivered both times I've been here. First time in the area of Monterey and it won't be the last, but we were hungry and didn't know what we wanted. Somehow we ended up here and the had a huge menu. We went to the bay to have sea food but ended up with Italian hahaha. Any who, we had a little bit of everything. The food was awesomely good and tasteful, we went at the right time, so the food didn't take hrs to come out. My main complaint, had to be customer service, waiting on the server or host or waiter... maybe because no one ordered alcohol or any soda lol we all drank waters or waters with lemon, no one came back ask at to offer refills until we asked for the check and paid that's when I saw our 6 cups of water filled and 3 cups of coke refilled as well.... We visited Louie Linguini's on Sunday afternoon. We had a reservation, and when we arrived, we were seated promptly, so we were off to a great start. The menu offered a nice variety of seafood options for a restaurant in Monterey. We started with the Gilroy garlic fries, and they were delicious! They were loaded with fresh garlic, and the fries had a tasty crispy coating. For lunch we ordered the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, Chicken Parmesan, and the Captain's Platter. The Chicken Parmesan was very crispy and came with two chicken breasts over angel hair pasta. The chicken was crispy, the sauce and pasta was just lackluster. I lacked flavor. The Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo was our least favorite. The Alfredo sauce was not very creamy, and the chicken was served in chunks and tasted dry. The Captain's Platter was good, it had an extra crispy coating on the fish, calamari, and shrimp. The fries were crispy too, and the coleslaw was average. Overall, we were not blown away by Louie Linguini's. The service was a great start and did stay consistent throughout our lunch. The garlic fries were the highlight of the meal, the entrées were fairly average and nothing really stood out as memorable. Was craving some pasta and noticed Louie Linguini's was just a short walk from our hotel, so we decided to give it a try. Right from the start, the check in process was a little confusing. There's a sign that says to wait at the door, but there are two entrances, and even the guests ahead of us seemed unsure where to go. Thankfully, once we figured it out, we were seated right away and chose an outdoor table with a nice view, which ended up being one of the highlights of the visit. Unfortunately, the service quickly went downhill after that. A server, I believe her name was Ally, was taking an order at a nearby table and told us she'd be right with us. After that, we waited close to 20 minutes before anyone came back to help us, which felt excessive considering the restaurant didn't seem overly busy. Once we finally ordered, we started with the calamari, Caesar salad, and clam chowder. The calamari was easily the best thing we tried. Super crispy, fresh, and even better with a squeeze of lemon. The Caesar salad was simple but satisfying, and the regular size was large enough to share. The clam chowder was decent but nothing particularly memorable. For our entrees, I ordered the Chipotle Penne from the specials menu because it sounded unique and looked great in the photos. Unfortunately, it lacked the flavor I was expecting and didn't live up to its presentation. We also ordered the kids' spaghetti, which was simple but perfectly fine for the little ones. Overall, the food was mediocre and didn't leave much of an impression. While the waterfront location and outdoor seating were nice, the long wait for service and underwhelming food make this a place I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again. read more

My wife ordered the Sicilian Seafood linguini, while I ordered the Seafood Saute. I asked my waitress if I could substitute the pesto sauce in the Seafood Saute with a white wine sauce. She said that they could do it for me. My wife and I shared our pastas. We both liked the Seafood Saute in white wine sauce better than the Sicilian Seafood Linguini. Came to Monterey with my family to get away from the heat! Went to the aquarium first and it was so busy, so I definitely was feeling hungry after all the walking. Plenty of seating and there's stairs and an elevator through the gift shop to get to the restaurant. Staff is friendly and welcoming, great service and constantly checked in with us. I looked this spot up before coming and was excited to try the clam chowder. We ordered a clam chowder + bread bowl (recommended option for garlic top by our great server!! But I forgot her name), regular bowl of chowder, garlic fries and fried mushrooms. Everything was delicious and came out quickly together. My mom liked dipping the fried mushrooms in the clam chowder and that's actually a good combo!! The chowder is on the creamy side which I like. Tasted fresh and had food flavors! The sourdough bread bowl reminded me of a sort of flaky bakery bread and not so much sourdough (which is totally fine for me). I'm sure the bread bowl without the garlic top tastes just as good too. Went for dinner here after going to the Aquarium. Looking at the starters, at first we were thinking garlic fries...and then we saw crab fries! We started with that. It came with a generous helping of fries, with a decent amount of crab. The chipotle ranch was tasty and creamy, but we didn't think it was spicy at all. Excellent. Of course we had to have the chowder too. It came with the obligatory oyster crackers. Creamy and delicious. Not having enough crab, I ordered the Dungeness Crab Legs for dinner. It came on top of a pile of mashed potatoes, surround by vegetables. You have to crack the legs and get the meat out yourself. If you're not used to or are uncomfortable doing this in public, order something else. It was excellent though. Arrived piping hot to the table. Good experience overall, service was good. We came here last night as a party of 5. My order was the chicken florentine off the specialty menu and it was absolutely delicious and very filling. Also ordered the garlic fries and trio sampler appetizers. Everything was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meals. The view....absolutely gorgeous. Upset because this is a place I've been wanting to try out for a while. We came in the door. No one greeted us. There were three ladies at the podium planning seating for a party that wasn't even there yet. My wife and I stood in front of them for a handful of minutes ignored while two of them went off, still not acknowledging we were there. Finally one looked around the screen. No hello. No how are you. Just a "the wait will be around 15 minutes go ahead and take a seat". I looked around. Hardly anyone in there. Even the aesthetic wasn't what was expected. I came here to treat myself to dinner with a friend after we had both completed the Big Sur 11 miler. We got a table right by the window with an ocean view. Server was prompt with water and we quickly ordered wine. We also got some garlic bread as an appetizer but sadly it disappointed with some raw, crunchy garlic on top that left us both with horrid garlic breath but that was quickly overlooked by the fettuccine Alfredo I ordered that luckily wasn't drowning in sauce and had the perfect bite and portion. My husband and I chose Louie Linguini's for a date dinner before heading to a comedy show, and overall it made for a really nice evening. We shared the Gilroy sourdough garlic bread, which had great flavor and a nice garlic kick. Of course, we had to try the clam chowder as our ongoing search for the best continues. It wasn't bad, but it leaned too creamy and lacked that strong clam flavor we were hoping for. With dinner, we shared a Chianti that paired nicely with our meals. I ordered the special lobster ravioli with a petite salmon, and it was delicious. You never seem to get many raviolis when you order them for dinner, but the addition of the salmon made the dish filling and well balanced. My husband ordered the cioppino special. While everything was cooked well and the seafood was fresh, he felt the broth lacked depth. Outside of the shellfish itself, the base came across a bit bland, almost like plain ocean water. Overall, the views, service, and atmosphere really stood out. While a few dishes could use more flavor, it was still an enjoyable experience and a lovely spot for a date night. read more

As you can see from the pictures my daughter gives the clam chowder 5 stars!! We love coming to Louie Linguinis when we are in Monterey. My family was greeted warmly and sat right away. I have a variety of thoughts about Louie Linguini's. Let's start with the location and atmosphere. It's situated in the perfect spot to overlook the water and cannery area. They have mostly indoor seating and a tiny bit of outdoor seating when you first walk up the stairs on the deck. It's very shady here but it's OK. You may wanna bring a long sleeve on a breezy day. The food is average at best. Most of the folks in my party had fish and chips and fried calamari. But we also tried the Alfredo linguine and seafood linguine. The fish and chips were not what I expected from this area. Just not super high-quality or special in any particular way. Lots of small pieces as opposed to a few large pieces. I question that. The seafood linguine on the other hand was quite good. And the calamari was basic calamari, I don't think fresh. What is cool, is that they have a dog menu. So that's nice since many of the visitors, including us, have dogs. Service was pretty spotty I'd say. I think it's because you're outside and they just don't go out there as much. read more

This spot exceeded my expectations for sure. I was reluctant to give it a try because its located right on the ocean on Cannery Row, so my first thought was tourist trap! They had something for the whole family to enjoy since we can never agree on just one type of cuisine so it was a perfect place to try. We arrived at shift change, too late to be a lunch crowd and too early to be a dinner crowd, the place had a few parties seated and more arrived after us along with a new team of servers. Anyways, I wanted some Clam Chowder and they had a great deal with a salad and a Bowl of Chowder served in a Sourdough Bread Bowl and both were absolutely delicious. The salad was great, with candied walnuts and blue cheese crumbles and a nice balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The chowder was a nice creamy consistency and loaded with clams and chunks of potato. My kid had the cheese pizza and she said it was one of her favorites she has had. She will be talking about how good it was for years. I did try a piece and it was very good pizza, once again pleasantly surprised. My other kid had the tenders with fries which was the only thing that missed the mark. I felt they could have had more seasoning in the breading but overall the meal was good. My wife had the Fettucine Alfredo and once again she really enjoyed it. Very authentic sauce with a decent amount of flavor. I hope I get to make it back to Monterey just so I can try the chowder again and also fresh calamari right out of the ocean. We were looking for a quick bite to take back to our room last night for dinner and pizza sounded good! This place was right across from The Clement Hotel and had pizza as an option, so we walked right over. We went up the stairs and when we walked in, we were immediately drawn to all the funny pictures of Louie lol! It was past 9pm, so the place wasn't busy at all. We ordered a "personal" combination pizza to go, but it was actually a decent sized pizza! It was really good and satisfying. Upon being seated by the window that overlooked the bay, noticed multiple gnats (10+) and flies (5+) flying in the corners of the large windows, so we asked to move toward the center of the restaurant. After being re-seated, we were given water after about 10 min when the waiter took our order. The appetizers came out in a reasonable time which consisted of french bread and battered/fried artichokes. Bread was ok, but the artichokes crumbled then trying to use you fork or grab them with your fingers. Good luck dipping them into the aioli. Entrees were bread bowl clam chowder, fishermans platter (battered cod, battered calamari, battered shrimp) served with cole slaw and fries, and chicken Caesar salad with cup of clam chowder. Clam chowder cup and bread bowl were good, but fisherman's platter crumbled like the artichoke appetizer. Trying to handle the cod was a joke, basically falling apart as it was dipped into the sauce. Coleslaw was bland like chopped cabbage with mayo. The Caesar salad dressing was bland like the coleslaw. Wouldn't recommend. read more
