We visited Louie Linguini's on Sunday afternoon. We had a reservation, and when we arrived, we were seated promptly, so we were off to a great start. The menu offered a nice variety of seafood options for a restaurant in Monterey. We started with the Gilroy garlic fries, and they were delicious! They were loaded with fresh garlic, and the fries had a tasty crispy coating. For lunch we ordered the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, Chicken Parmesan, and the Captain's Platter. The Chicken Parmesan was very crispy and came with two chicken breasts over angel hair pasta. The chicken was crispy, the sauce and pasta was just lackluster. I lacked flavor. The Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo was our least favorite. The Alfredo sauce was not very creamy, and the chicken was served in chunks and tasted dry. The Captain's Platter was good, it had an extra crispy coating on the fish, calamari, and shrimp. The fries were crispy too, and the coleslaw was average. Overall, we were not blown away by Louie Linguini's. The service was a great start and did stay consistent throughout our lunch. The garlic fries were the highlight of the meal, the entrées were fairly average and nothing really stood out as memorable. It is a decent spot if you are in the area, but definitely not our favorite.
I wanted to bring my coworkers to a nice restaurant after a long day at Laguna Seca racetrack. We stopped at Cannery Row to look around at the shops and decided to eat seafood for dinner. Surprisingly, there was no waiting for a table at Louie Linguine 's. They didn't skimp on the clams, which made this dish even more enjoyable. This place is certainly a repeat the next time we come to Monterey.
Was craving some pasta and noticed Louie Linguini's was just a short walk from our hotel, so we decided to give it a try. Right from the start, the check in process was a little confusing. There's a sign that says to wait at the door, but there are two entrances, and even the guests ahead of us seemed unsure where to go. Thankfully, once we figured it out, we were seated right away and chose an outdoor table with a nice view, which ended up being one of the highlights of the visit. Unfortunately, the service quickly went downhill after that. A server, I believe her name was Ally, was taking an order at a nearby table and told us she'd be right with us. After that, we waited close to 20 minutes before anyone came back to help us, which felt excessive considering the restaurant didn't seem overly busy. Once we finally ordered, we started with the calamari, Caesar salad, and clam chowder. The calamari was easily the best thing we tried. Super crispy, fresh, and even better with a squeeze of lemon. The Caesar salad was simple but satisfying, and the regular size was large enough to share. The clam chowder was decent but nothing particularly memorable. For our entrees, I ordered the Chipotle Penne from the specials menu because it sounded unique and looked great in the photos. Unfortunately, it lacked the flavor I was expecting and didn't live up to its presentation. We also ordered the kids' spaghetti, which was simple but perfectly fine for the little ones. Overall, the food was mediocre and didn't leave much of an impression. While the waterfront location and outdoor seating were nice, the long wait for service and underwhelming food make this a place I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again.
The service was amazing. We were checked in on a timely manner. Drinks were strong but incredible. I love seafood and got the seafood sauté. Pesto wasn't too strong. The seafood tasted fresh! Great experience.
The food was good. The hostess was horrible. We had made reservations on Open Table, but, the hostess didn't honor it. Why even take reservations? 45 minutes after our reservations and me about to get very upset with the hostess, we were seated. Our waitress was very good and made up for what the hostess lacked. My wife ordered the Sicilian Seafood linguini, while I ordered the Seafood Saute. I asked my waitress if I could substitute the pesto sauce in the Seafood Saute with a white wine sauce. She said that they could do it for me. My wife and I shared our pastas. We both liked the Seafood Saute in white wine sauce better than the Sicilian Seafood Linguini. It's a good place for Italian seafood. Why take reservations if the hostess won't honor it?
Came to Monterey with my family to get away from the heat! Went to the aquarium first and it was so busy, so I definitely was feeling hungry after all the walking. Plenty of seating and there's stairs and an elevator through the gift shop to get to the restaurant. Staff is friendly and welcoming, great service and constantly checked in with us. I looked this spot up before coming and was excited to try the clam chowder. We ordered a clam chowder + bread bowl (recommended option for garlic top by our great server!! But I forgot her name), regular bowl of chowder, garlic fries and fried mushrooms. Everything was delicious and came out quickly together. My mom liked dipping the fried mushrooms in the clam chowder and that's actually a good combo!! The chowder is on the creamy side which I like. Tasted fresh and had food flavors! The sourdough bread bowl reminded me of a sort of flaky bakery bread and not so much sourdough (which is totally fine for me). I'm sure the bread bowl without the garlic top tastes just as good too. I forsure want to come back and try other dishes like the pasta or steak!
Some people say that you can't judge a book by the cover, but I could judge this Restaurant by a simple sample of clam chowder. They serve you samples right outside, but I went ahead and ordered a small bowl, and I was not disappointed.
We ordered the seafood saute, fish & chips, kids mac and cheese, and kids popcorn shrimp. We made a to-go order and they were quick. The seafood was fresh and didn't disappoint! The batter for the fish & chips was perfect and the Mac and cheese was home made and had a unique flavor to it. Prices were surprisingly good. Highly recommend.
My son and I came in during our birthday getaway yesterday. It was still early but our hostess was lovely so was our waitress. The food came out promptly and it was delicious! My son is a 20 year old neuro-divergent male and this year we've been exploring a plethora of "firsts". He invited me out to our first fancy pasta restaurant. He could not stop driving about the taste of the food and now he has a standard for other restaurants to uphold. Thank you for our lovely meal.
Went for dinner here after going to the Aquarium. Looking at the starters, at first we were thinking garlic fries...and then we saw crab fries! We started with that. It came with a generous helping of fries, with a decent amount of crab. The chipotle ranch was tasty and creamy, but we didn't think it was spicy at all. Excellent. Of course we had to have the chowder too. It came with the obligatory oyster crackers. Creamy and delicious. Not having enough crab, I ordered the Dungeness Crab Legs for dinner. It came on top of a pile of mashed potatoes, surround by vegetables. You have to crack the legs and get the meat out yourself. If you're not used to or are uncomfortable doing this in public, order something else. It was excellent though. Arrived piping hot to the table. Good experience overall, service was good. Just a little on the pricey side, but given where you are dining, that's probably expected.
Had dinner for my birthday here over the weekend. View from table outside was very nice. Our server, Juliette, was very friendly and brought a complimentary dessert after meal. Ordered clams & pasta with a glass of prosecco. Not mind blowing food and no dish for empty clams shells that most restaurants provide with this entree. Bruschetta was tasty. My husband ordered Italian sausage & penne pasta in arrabbiata sauce. He said the sausage was dry & overcooked.
I was starving and this restaurant did the job in satisfying my clam chowder fix! Our server was very nice and our food came quick. The fresh berry mojito was very minty and tasty. And my clam chowder was deliciously filling. The house salad was also very delicious. I love a good spring salad with feta and fruits. My boyfriend found his fish and chips to be quite tasty and love his beer (I think he got the pilsner). Very cute restaurant and wasn't too busy. There was a nice view of the ocean where we were seated.
We were looking for a little snack that was dog friendly, and they have a special menu! Bring a jacket, because it can get a little chilly. You might spot an otter or two while snacking and sipping while you're sitting outside! I ordered the artichoke hearts and a glass of red wine. Both were ok :) The view and Monterey vibes are better.

First time in the area of Monterey and it won't be the last, but we were hungry and didn't know what we wanted. Somehow we ended up here and the had a huge menu. We went to the bay to have sea food but ended up with Italian hahaha. Any who, we had a little bit of everything. The food was awesomely good and tasteful, we went at the right time, so the food didn't take hrs to come out. My main complaint, had to be customer service, waiting on the server or host or waiter... maybe because no one ordered alcohol or any soda lol we all drank waters or waters with lemon, no one came back ask at to offer refills until we asked for the check and paid that's when I saw our 6 cups of water filled and 3 cups of coke refilled as well.... I don't get it hope they get on point read more
This was my second time visiting Louie Linguini's, and both experiences have been consistently great! This time, my husband and I decided to sit in the bar area so we could catch the second half of the World Cup game. The bar was pretty empty when we arrived, so naturally our bartender was extra attentive and took great care of us. Our drinks came out quickly and were strong, but still delicious and well made. It was the perfect spot to relax, grab a drink, and enjoy the game. I love finding places that are consistently good, and Louie Linguini's has delivered both times I've been here. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and a fun place to stop by while in Monterey. We'll definitely be back again! read more

Not the most romantic spot -- ambiance is ok -- but ask for the balcony. The Fido menu is expansive but basic for the dogs. The linguini was okay, nothing special but the calamari legs were good. Staff was friendly and bathrooms were clean, parking can be a pain but otherwise all is manageable. read more

This is a great location of a restaurant in cannery row! We had a table outdoors and we were able to enjoy seeing the ocean. Our waiter was nice and attentive. We ordered: fish burger, pizza, garlic fries, chicken farfalle, cheeseburger and some Shirley temples. Our food was good for being a touristy restaurant. We did enjoy being outside eating while hearing the ocean and feeling the nice breeze! read more

My husband and I chose Louie Linguini's for a date dinner before heading to a comedy show, and overall it made for a really nice evening. We had a reservation but didn't need it, as it was a slow Monday night. We arrived right at sunset, which turned out to be perfect timing. The restaurant is upstairs with tons of windows overlooking the ocean, and we were seated right by one. Between the view and the soft music playing, the atmosphere felt relaxed and a little romantic. The staff was attentive and helpful, answering questions about the menu and offering suggestions without being pushy. I started with a dirty martini, simple and well made. We shared the Gilroy sourdough garlic bread, which had great flavor and a nice garlic kick. Of course, we had to try the clam chowder as our ongoing search for the best continues. It wasn't bad, but it leaned too creamy and lacked that strong clam flavor we were hoping for. With dinner, we shared a Chianti that paired nicely with our meals. I ordered the special lobster ravioli with a petite salmon, and it was delicious. You never seem to get many raviolis when you order them for dinner, but the addition of the salmon made the dish filling and well balanced. My husband ordered the cioppino special. While everything was cooked well and the seafood was fresh, he felt the broth lacked depth. Outside of the shellfish itself, the base came across a bit bland, almost like plain ocean water. Overall, the views, service, and atmosphere really stood out. While a few dishes could use more flavor, it was still an enjoyable experience and a lovely spot for a date night. read more

As you can see from the pictures my daughter gives the clam chowder 5 stars!! We love coming to Louie Linguinis when we are in Monterey. My family was greeted warmly and sat right away. Our server was attentive and helpful. My husband ordered the Louie Burger, while my daughter and I shared a cup of clam chowder & a chicken pasta. My favorite part about eating here is the large windows where you can watch the ocean. Today we got to watch a couple kayakers come in contact with some dolphins. We will definitely be back. read more

I asked the waiter, David S, if the prawns were fresh, he said, but of course. It was a lie. There were pieces of tail bits cooked to the good meat. It was like a handful of frozen prawns thrown in the deep fryer far too long. They were rubbery and chewy. Flavor was good, but not really edible without alot of picking. I pointed it out to the waiter, instead of wanting to hear about it he said well there is nothing I can do since you ate them all. I was just wanting to point out that it was a really inferior meal and not what he said it was. We had 4 other really wonderful meals in Monterey, I guess it happens but with price of meals I just hate getting horrible food. read more
The service was very good and the food came out fast, our servers and the host were amazing. Ambiance alone is 5 stars because the view was incredible today the least! Gotta be real though the food was just whatever. Specifically the crab bruschetta (not pictured), the pizza, and the fries in the basket. I did enjoy the fried seafood it was very good and so were the sauces. I will say that the price was fair for the location. I'd go back for the view alone. read more
We came here last night as a party of 5. My order was the chicken florentine off the specialty menu and it was absolutely delicious and very filling. Also ordered the garlic fries and trio sampler appetizers. Everything was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meals. The view....absolutely gorgeous. Took our breath away and we wanted to stay to continue watching the sunset. Only drawback was the service wasn't as attentive as they should've been. Otherwise, I recommend this place! read more
The sampler appetizer was very nice. I highly recommend getting the sampler, it has lots of different flavors and it's perfect. The pasta was good, but the portion was pretty small. There was a lot of pasta but I feel like there wasn't enough meat. The view was nice because it's upstairs. The service was typical. Overall I give it a 3.5. read more
I have a variety of thoughts about Louie Linguini's. Let's start with the location and atmosphere. It's situated in the perfect spot to overlook the water and cannery area. They have mostly indoor seating and a tiny bit of outdoor seating when you first walk up the stairs on the deck. It's very shady here but it's OK. You may wanna bring a long sleeve on a breezy day. The food is average at best. Most of the folks in my party had fish and chips and fried calamari. But we also tried the Alfredo linguine and seafood linguine. The fish and chips were not what I expected from this area. Just not super high-quality or special in any particular way. Lots of small pieces as opposed to a few large pieces. I question that. The seafood linguine on the other hand was quite good. And the calamari was basic calamari, I don't think fresh. What is cool, is that they have a dog menu. So that's nice since many of the visitors, including us, have dogs. Service was pretty spotty I'd say. I think it's because you're outside and they just don't go out there as much. read more

We had reservations for 6:30 and were seated promptly, staff was friendly. The ambience was very nice and our table had a view of the ocean. For an appetizer we got the garlic and crab fries with the chipotle sauce. The crab wasn't my favorite but I absolutely loved the chipotle sauce and the garlic was sooo fresh. For the entree I got the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and they gave me a decent amount of shrimp. Everything had good flavor and was cooked well. All the food came out very quickly for a busy Saturday night. This restaurant is a very nice seafood and Italian restaurant, would recommend read more

This spot exceeded my expectations for sure. I was reluctant to give it a try because its located right on the ocean on Cannery Row, so my first thought was tourist trap! They had something for the whole family to enjoy since we can never agree on just one type of cuisine so it was a perfect place to try. We arrived at shift change, too late to be a lunch crowd and too early to be a dinner crowd, the place had a few parties seated and more arrived after us along with a new team of servers. Anyways, I wanted some Clam Chowder and they had a great deal with a salad and a Bowl of Chowder served in a Sourdough Bread Bowl and both were absolutely delicious. The salad was great, with candied walnuts and blue cheese crumbles and a nice balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The chowder was a nice creamy consistency and loaded with clams and chunks of potato. My kid had the cheese pizza and she said it was one of her favorites she has had. She will be talking about how good it was for years. I did try a piece and it was very good pizza, once again pleasantly surprised. My other kid had the tenders with fries which was the only thing that missed the mark. I felt they could have had more seasoning in the breading but overall the meal was good. My wife had the Fettucine Alfredo and once again she really enjoyed it. Very authentic sauce with a decent amount of flavor. I hope I get to make it back to Monterey just so I can try the chowder again and also fresh calamari right out of the ocean. We had a really nice meal at Louie Linguini's, and hope you give it a try also. Enjoy!!! read more

Louie Linguini's is a great place to eat. We were seated in a timely manner. The restaurant is clean and very nicely decorated with funny pictures everywhere. The waitress was friendly and very nice when explaining the menu. I ordered the clam chowder in e bread bowl ( delicious, highly recommend) garlic fries are tasty. pizza was tasty and the shrimp pasta too. Great experience. read more
Food was delicious, beautiful outdoor seating! Our server was amazing as well :) Food came out at a decent amount of time. Plenty of indoor seating if you're chilly and do not enjoy outdoors. This gem is located in a perfect spot with all the shops, aquarium and stores. The only downfall is parking.. however you can find street parking or some paid lots around the area. read more

Do they accept walk ins?
They do, but with nicer weather here, there are a lot more tourists dining out. We walked in yesterday and had to wait 60 minutes.
Dog friendly on the patio?
Yes! There were multiple dogs when we went. The staircase from the water side leads directly to the patio so no need to walk through the busy restaurant with Fido.
