One of the best restaurants with good food snd ambience. Their deck is awesome and would recommend to dine on the deck. We have been coming here for a while and food doesnt disappoint. Parking can be tricky on a busy day but can find spots in adjacent streets. Lovely restaurant in downtown Carmel. They have a small upstairs patio with beautiful plants around. The inside is super cozy and nicely decorated. The food was great! And it will be added to my go to pls es when in Carmel. I liked that they had a variety of options to choose from. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. We got our food quick and did not have to wait long! I would recommend. If you have a slightly larger party, I did see that they had a large maybe more private dining area. read more

I didn't mind about the heater but my girl was cold. How about just fix the dam wobbly table by putting stabilizer or folding a napkins? Got ours apps, 10 minutes later entree comes. Made a comment wow that's quick, probably wanted us out. 5 minutes later as we're eating the entree he comes with main course plates, bro we're already eating. The menu is so interesting because of the variety but this place was tasty! I got the sea bass with the lemon caper sauce and mashed potato and it was very good, exactly what I was craving. The pasta here is a bit like fresh noodles. The chicken Alfredo is very chicken-y and with the texture of the noodles, almost tastes like a creamy chicken noodle soup without the soup. And it wasn't very salty. Others liked their dishes as well, including lasagna, more pasta and fish. Nobody got the curries so can't comment on it, but seemed very expensive for curry and especially in a place with a mixed menu so we didn't want to risk it. The garlic parmesan oil they give with the bread is so good! Watch out for the 3.5% fee with credit card though. The prices in the menu reflect a "cash discount". A bit shady. OK so cute of a place but everything is in Carmel by the Sea. Ok super dog friendly which is awesome, they even bring water and have beef, fish or chicken for your four legged family. Love that. Service was very kind and with a smile and the manager would come around to see if we needed anything. If it weren't for those wonderful positives we would have given it 2 or 3 stars on the food. The food was just ok. Menu is a little weird, like middle eastern meets greek meets italian and something else. Just odd to me. Our Arnold Palmer was all tea. My gyro was very good and fries were good but my wifes chicken pesto sandwich was so dry it was like chewing on a blanket. So again adorable but food was ok and menu is just a little weird to us. Had dinner here with a party of nine on a Sunday night. Since our party was sizable, they put us into a separate room, which was pretty nice. We had a variety of entrées and appetizers and desserts, but I'll review the ones I actually had. -they started us with bread and dip. The bread was fantastic, as was the garlicky sauce. - the Greek Dolmas were delicious - the grilled calamari was good. I missed that it was a calamari steak and not rings/tentacles, so I was surprised. It tasted ok though. - I had the grilled sea bass, served with a lemon caper sauce, mashed potatoes and spinach. This was their special tonight, and it was very tasty. Portion was larger than I thought, so that was good. - we had tiramisu, chocolate cake, key lime pie, and cheesecake for dessert, split amongst the 9 of us. All good. Split on what we liked the best. The chocolate cake seemed to be in the majority, followed by the tiramisu, key lime pie and the cheesecake. But all were good. Service was attentive and good. As others have mentioned, prices seem high. The appetizer portions seemed a little small. read more

A late lunch at 2pm didn't require much wait (~10 minutes). The patio seats were beautiful - nice street view with full coverage shade. We weren't hungry so only ordered one Grilled Calamari from the appetizers section, and one Yellow Curry with tofu from the entree section. The grilled calamari was okay. Texture-wise it was good - tender while still chewy. The tartar sauce was good but a bit overwhelming, reminds me of ranch combined with wasabi. Flavor-wise, the calamari itself was bland. All the flavors came from the sauce. The portion was small. I guess that shouldn't be too surprising given that it was listed as an appetizer, and one of the cheapest dishes on the menu ($17). The yellow curry was good, but mediocre given its $32 price. I've had much better Thai curry from nice restaurants at half the price. The portion is quite big though. Overall, service was fast and good, food was okay, and price was high. Expect to pay for the vibe and location rather than the food itself. read more

Hey there Party People Can't finish off the Summer without a walk on the beach in Carmel. So eating at the Tree House Cafe was a no brainer. The outdoor seating is wonderful. You are in a great position to people watch and enjoy the perfect weather, indoor seating is also available. They take pet friendly to a new level by having pet food options on the menu. You can get a Salmon, Beef, or Chicken patty for you pet. The menu was a nice mix of Mediterranean and Greek dishes. We had the Roasted Garlic and Honey & Cheese appetizers. The roasted garlic was so soft you could spread it like butter over the crustini bread. Once you added some of the soft goat cheese and a drizzle of fresh locally made honey it created the perfect bit. For lunch itself I had the Lamb Stroganoff, it was to die for. The lamb was so succulent and tender it just melted in your mouth. I know lamb scares some people because of the potentially gamey flavor. I say BE BRAVE and try it you will not be disappointed. The gravy was delicious and the noodles cooked just the way I liked them...a little on the softer side. Hubby had the Gyros Plate. He was very impressed with the meat and he is very picky when it comes to Gyros. It was very moist and was a thick cut so it looked more like steak rather then thin shavings of meat. A little surprised by all the good reviews. My family and I have been to Carmel several times by now and usually enjoy a nice meal in this sea side town. We were expecting some nice ambiance, good service, and a good meal by the reviews we had seen. The food was okay. The grilled salmon was good, my seafood pasta was not. The mussels had a bad smell to them which left the plate pretty inedible. The Thai curry was overly strong, definitely a different take than a typical Thai curry. Servers were meh, seemed angry. They also allow dogs and pets - a couple with a dog sat right next to our table. The dog shook all over before laying down for a nap and his hair dander fell all over our food! The staff were nice enough to re seat us and prepare our meals again. The seafood pasta was still a bust. Ah well - not the best experience here at tree house cafe. 3 stars since they re sat us and were nice enough, but will not be back. read more

Think twice. I booked a dinner party celebrating my son's wedding here. We had 24 guests total. I wanted three-courses (apps, salad, main), wine and bottled water for the table, and a champagne toast to the Newlyweds. I chose three entreés knowing that a limited menu would help keep service streamlined, and offered to print menus ourselves. Nineteen days before the wedding dinner I received an email from Fadi at Tree House telling my booking was cancelled. The reason given? "I'm almost booked". Obviously this left us in a panic. Fortunately we found Vesuvios, the manager Gian could not have been more helpful and enthusiastic. We ended up having a wonderful time, the food and service was impeccable! Just as we were sitting down to eat, however, I got calls, texts, and an email from Fadi asking if we were still coming to dinner tonight! The nerve. I had a wonderful experience eating at this restaurant. The selection of entrees is very interesting to choose from because everything sounds so good and so I ordered the salmon and it was moist, tasty and delicious. Usually I have leftovers to take home but the food was so good I ended up eating it all. The service was great, and the server was very attentive and surprised us with a complementary dessert of baklava, Yummy! It was an overcast day with light rain and very chilly but my husband and I was very cozy eating in the restaurant enjoying listening to the great selection of music they play. We were dying to try the paella based on some of the photos and it was good but some of the seafood was really overcooked. Service was excellent. We had a wonderful time there for an early dinner, and I accidentally left my entire purse including my driver's license and all my credit cards on the chair. I didn't realize till we arrived home after a 2 hour drive. Thanks goodness the purse was still there when we called!! I have no idea how this restaurant has 4.5 stars! I was in Carmel with my family Monday 5/29 we decided to check it out, I wish I had a deeper dive into the more recent reviews that mention the change in ownership. Overpriced food that is absolutely disgusting. The chicken is so bland and had a texture like if it's frozen and just tossed in the pasta. Food looks so promising (presentation wise) but as soon as you bite into it my God! Flavorless and cheap My family ordered the chicken pesto pasta, 2 chicken kabob, mushroom raviolis, and the chicken Alfredo, 2 clam chowders. The only thing that was decent was the clam chowder. I am a server at a restaurant that being said service here was bad. Our server was not attentive, and would forget to get us things we asked for. The worst part is they did an automatic 20% gratuity which I think is ridiculous we had to tip over $45 for bad service! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! One of my favorites in Carmel. Staff is amazing and treat everyone like family. Great calamari appetizer and the clam chowder is thick and hearty. I always get the yellow Thai curry with chicken and it is always wonderful. Spicy but they have a spicier version if that's your thing. My wife had a pasta with prawns in a red sauce that she loved. We split a key lime pie dessert and it was very refreshing. Eating outside on the deck in good weather is very relaxing. Inside is cozy and more subdued. read more

The host was accommodating and the service was incredible. The food was phenomenal. This is the first time my family has gone to a restaurant and there were no leftovers. The place is clean and the ambiance is warm and festive with music. I would definitely come here again and would recommend it to anyone. The Mediterranean food such as the kebabs and the gyro platter is where this place shines. The meat is perfectly seasoned. The salad is fresh. For the Italian, the fettuccine was creamy and delicious, but honestly could be made just as good at home. The steak was a ribeye and was cooked and seasoned well. Wish I could give a good review on this cute place. But I cannot. We decided to try this place last Saturday, based on good reviews and them being dog friendly. We were in Carmel with the pup. We were seated on the balcony on Saturday with our pup. The waiter was rude and grouchy. Grunted and was rushing. This waiter also knew our pup was sitting on the floor next to us, but kept barging through to the table next to us and stepped on my dog several times in doing so, with no apology and rushed off. He hurt her. We ordered several starters and a main. We asked them to stagger the food so the hot main dish came out last. (The main came out shortly after the starters and sat there going cold, in the cold). The most unfriendliest, most unkind, and most rushed experience ever. Food nice.
