Korean and Asian fusion restaurant at Carmel by the sea. We were in town and looking for lunch place and found this restaurant. It was not a large restaurant and It was busy even in the early lunch time. It was very crowded at Carmel. We were lucky we got table when we arrived. The menu varies from Korean dishes, seafood, salad, bin/tacos. They also bar service. They have wine, Beer and cocktails. We ordered Beach Bonfire cocktail For the food, we order Clam Chowder bowl, and Korean Fusion Trio. The Clam Chowder is yummy. It is creamy with chunck of potatoes. The Korean Fusion Trio portion is ok and it is also yummy with combination of Galbi, spicy pork and Kimchi Fried Rice. The service was ok. Overall it was a nice lunch at Carmel.

We made a dinner reservation at this restaurant for Saturday night. Even with a reservation, we had to wait about 20 minutes before getting seated. We were told by the hostess that they were waiting for the table to pay. Once we were seated, we were given water and our menus. We ended up ordering one drink: the Lavender Lemondrop. It was pretty decent. I would recommend this if you like sweeter drinks. As for the food, we were really not the biggest fan. Service was also very slow. We waited about 20 minutes before out main dishes came out after appetizers. We ordered the Sand Dabs, Duck Breast, Tuna Poke, Spam Kim Bap Roll, and their Kimchi Fried Rice. The best dish to us was the Tuna Poke. We enjoyed the freshness of the fish and the overall flavor. The Duck Breast and Kimchee Fried Rice were okay. The Duck breast came with risotto, but the risotto (to us) was just not good. Too much cheese too. It was not a good balance. The Duck, however, was cooked well. Kimchi Fried rice was nothing special, but the flavor was decent. Our biggest disappointing dishes were the Sand Dabs and Spam Kim Bap Roll. The Kimbap seemed to be very lacking of everything. It was very dependent on the Ponzu sauce for flavor. Sand Dabs were also lacking a bit of flavor. It was also a bit dry. Their mash potatoes on the side were good. We probably won't come back to this restaurant; however, I would still encourage people to give it a try since everyone's taste buds are different

Skirt Steak Sandwich with caprese salad $4 extra

I came here due to its part of inkind. Lunch was okay but won't be rushing back. What's good - service was really good - short rib dish - prawn pasta if you like spicy sauce - chicken Asian salad - clam chowder What can be improved - skirt steak sandwich - very chewy - sandabs very small portion 3 slices of fish. Not enough for an adult to feel full - over priced overall - thank goodness we had the inkind credit but even with it felt a bit overpriced. For the small portions

As our last brunch on a road trip up the coast, this was middle of the pack. The service was good and the inside was fancier than we expected. The food itself was alright; my gf got pancakes, eggs, and bacon and I got kimchi fried rice. Her food was perfectly fine and not very noteworthy. While my kimchi fried rice was by no means authentically Korean, it was the most flavorful brunch food I'd had in Carmel but if I'm being honest that's an extremely low bar in my opinion. If you're ever in Carmel looking for a brunch place, this one will do (and I'm sure the one down the street will too).

Had a reservation and had breakfast here. It was an ok for us. Saw other reviews and excitedly want to eat here so I decided for breakfast before going to Monterey. But after eating the food we ordered, it was just ok taste. I had Ube Match Latte(didn't taste the ube at all), my daughter had the Fruit Parfait and lots of cut-up melons and papaya that doesn't go with the taste of the yogurt. My husband's French Toast was ok snd nothing special to it. We'll come back to Carmel but we won't go back to this restaurant for breakfast.

Came here in the morning for breakfast. The restaurant is conveniently located in the heart of downtown, making it an easy stop. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, which was slightly salty, but overall the food was good and the service was friendly. A solid spot if you're looking for breakfast downtown.

Tuna Poke
Tasnia I.

Service was great. The spicy tuna poke was great to have. The shrimp and scallop Alfredo was a real miss. The shrimp smelled very fish and with the large cut green onions, it almost felt like they couldn't decide if they wanted to make it Asian or Italian. The flavor was very confusion and it wasn't particularly enjoyable. With the grilled ribeye, the mushroom was a hit. As for ambiance, it depends on when you go but we went when it was packed and it can get a little loud. You'll definitely be able to hear your neighbors conversation.

Kimchi Fried Rice, Chicken Parmesan

Came here because Nora had a long wait. Tip: make an online reservation if you're planning to visit on the weekend. We ordered the calamari, chicken parm, and kimchi fried rice. In my opinion, both the calamari and chicken parm could have used a bit more flavor. The kimchi fried rice, however, was delicious and ended up being my favorite dish of the meal. The restaurant had a great vibe, but the two-person tables along the side were placed very close together, making it a little difficult to get in and out of your seat. The service was great, but had to wait a little long for the food to come out.

Good food and service in a nice place. The portions are a little smaller and prices are a little higher compared to other places not in Carmel. It is ok to eat here.

Sea bass tacos
Paul G.

It was okay. Very friendly staff, very nice location - but the food was okay. Love the crab cakes! But chicken parm was a bit bland (though the portion was HUGE), and the sea bass in the tacos felt really overcooked. Wasn't bad by any stretch but not sure if we will ever come back.

Pretty good korean fusion foods on Carmel! The korean tofu soup was decently good, but wow! that bowl was HUGE. It was the side of my head. Their kimchi fried rice was also approximately the same size, and their pork belly lettuce wraps were great tasting too. The waiters here are very friendly and they are on top of taking our orders quickly and getting all our stuff. The food wait times however, took quite some time. But that's not the waiters or cooks fault! Lots of foot traffic especially here on Car Week.

Coconut Thai Curry
Mike T.

Came out for Monterey Car Week and had this place on my bookmarks. This place was right in limbo for 3-4 stars so I'd place it as a solid 3.5. The crab cake was interesting but the veggies in it and the crab meat were fresh a little on the soggy side but good flavors. Thai coconut curry was heavy on the curry light on the coconut but still found it to be enjoyable added prawns on the dish for $12.99 more, honestly not much seasoning on the prawns. The service was amazing and was never in need of anything. Lastly the chicken parm was a weird but good dish. I can't say that I've ever had a similar chicken parm but the flavors were good and the portion was a good size. You're paying a premium for the location but if in need of a quick bite check it out. Total for 2 people no alcohol $122.00

matcha coconut martini

Cute spot in the heart of Carmel. We came in with a reservation on a Saturday for dinner on Mother's Day weekend so it was quite busy. Even with a reservation, they had tables waiting. We only waited 10 minutes or so. Our server was very friendly and attentive. My cocktail was probably the best part of our dinner. I ordered the matcha coconut martini as an alternative to an espresso martini. The menu feels all over the place. An attempt at fusion with some east Asian and South Asian influence, but they also have your steak house essentials. I get the concept in theory with Pangea, but it could be more refined and elevated. Nothing different than anything you can get in the Bay Area. We went with steak house essentials rather than some attempt at Asian fusion. I enjoyed my duck breast. The portions were healthy. Skipped dessert and went for a glass of wine with dinner instead.

Do they offer sourdough bread?

Are you serving anything special for Thanksgiving?

Good morning!! Yes. We have an amazing prime rib and Turkey special.

Make a reservation?

Yes you can make reservations.

Are there times for breakfast and lunch items? We have an 11 am reservation and I'm curious if both breakfast and lunch menus will be available?

Hi Tracy! We do switch over to lunch around 10:50 so 11am would be for our lunch menu

I see you do have some gluten-free options can you please tell me if you have any gluten-free breads/toast?

Yes

Is it possible to get a spot walking in on a Sunday? Is there open seating at the bar?

Hi... we had cocktails and few glasses of wine. Sorry don't know but I'd go there again...

Hi can you please tell me if you have any gluten free/dairy free meals for dinner ? I of course can have seafood plain but wondered if you have any gluten-free pastas plain potatoes etc? Thx !

Pangaea notes gluten free options on their menu. I had more success with vegetarian and gluten free with the breakfast menu, which was wonderful. If you go to their website, you'll see that items are noted as gluten free. The selection isn't large…

Are the speciality Bloody Mary's only offered during breakfast hours?

Hi Austin! Our Specialty Bloody Mary's are available during Breakfast and Lunch only. We hope to see you soon!

Are there gluten free options?

They actually label their menu with (gf) GLUTEN FREE and (V) VEGAN options. It's very helpful and yes they have both!

Hi Donna! Yes we stop serving Breakfast at 11 and start our Lunch menu. We hope to see you soon!

No, they are not. No need to show proof of vaccine status. They are very friendly. You're good.

Yes! They are great with dogs on their outside patio

1/5 -- Terrible Hostess Experience and Completely Mismanaged Waitlist…read more We came to Mission Ranch for a birthday dinner on a Tuesday evening, arriving around 5:30 PM. We asked to be put on the waitlist and were told the estimated wait would be 1.5 hours. Fair enough, we were willing to wait. What immediately stood out, though, was the hostess's attitude. She seemed visibly annoyed simply by us asking about the wait time. Not exactly the warm welcome you'd expect from a restaurant like Mission Ranch. And it wasn't just us. We watched other guests approach her with perfectly reasonable questions and receive the same irritated, dismissive attitude. Throughout the evening, we checked back a few times for updates. Each time, we were given another estimate that came and went without any explanation. The waitlist seemed completely mismanaged, and there was zero effort to communicate honestly with guests. After 2.5 hours of waiting, we finally gave up. At that point, our birthday dinner was already ruined, and we decided to head to In-N-Out instead. Easily the best decision of the evening. I understand that restaurants get busy and wait times aren't always predictable. That's not the issue. The issue is the poor communication, misleading estimates, and an unwelcoming attitude from the very person whose job is to make guests feel welcome. For a restaurant with Mission Ranch's reputation, you'd expect a much higher standard of hospitality. Unfortunately, we never even got the chance to try the food. Two and a half hours wasted, no dinner, and a birthday experience we won't forget for all the wrong reasons.

When my +1 and I walked up on Monday morning, we signed their wait list about half a page full. Already aware of the possible of wait, I asked another couple up front if they had waited long. They told me (to my horror) for an hour. Fortunately, we arrived after the breakfast rush wave (about 10:30am) and were seated after waiting for about 10-15 minutes. We were seated at the back room which was nice. It was a little bit more quieter compared to the front room. It was well decorated to look like a quaint cottage. What stuck my attention was the lovely mural on its walls with pinches of humor. Hostess and waiters were friendly and service was very quick. We were in and out of the restaurant in 30 minutes from being seated to the bill. We picked the ye old breakfast with choice of sausage and a ye old sweet with sausage as well. The food was delicious. I also ordered a coffee and my mug was never empty during the meal. Would definitely recommend this to anyone going to Carmel. Bike & coffee review!!…read more Let's start with the coffee. By far the best I had my whole trip to Carmel/Monterey. Absolute perfection. We actually all got drinks from their seasonal menu. Highly recommend using the pistachio milk! Presentation was gorgeous and service was SO good. Friendliest people fr. The space is so clean and so trendy, welcoming, and smells amazing. Don't forget a pup cup for your pup! DO THE BIKE RENTALS! Absolute highlight of our trip. BUT the team at this location recommended we actually rent from their Monterey location based on what we wanted to experience (literally biking on the coast / 17 mile drive route- hello!!!). They were also able to recommend what bikes we should book, etc. Only thing that wasn't cute was the prices on the flyer at the bike shop are inaccurate. Said $50 all day ride from Monterey but in fact it was $75. They said the flyer was out of date. Regardless, Mad Dog is so fab

The coffee shop is located at the front, with bike rentals in the back. The store itself is super cute and extremely dog-friendly, which is always a huge plus. Parking: No designated parking lot, so you'll have to find street parking. It was pretty difficult on a Sunday, but honestly, that's nothing out of the ordinary for downtown Carmel. We got 3 drinks from their seasonal menu, and unfortunately, they were all just okay. Strawberry Fields -- $8.50 The matcha was decent, and I appreciated that they used strawberry purée. However, it wasn't memorable enough for me to order again. Vanilla Cardamom Latte -- $7.50 The cardamom was SUPER strong, and I felt like it overpowered everything else. The description mentioned rich espresso and creamy vanilla, but both were definitely lacking. Velvet Noir -- $7.50 This tasted as described: dark chocolate and cherry espresso. It was not overwhelmingly sweet. Service deserves a shoutout! Despite my mixed feelings about the drinks, the service was AMAZING! The cashier was super friendly and even made a special pup treat for my dog, which I genuinely appreciated. My dog absolutely loved it! As an avid coffee drinker, I'm not sure I'd personally consider this one of the "best coffee shops" based on the drinks alone. I was hoping for stronger espresso flavors, especially given the recognition and price point. That said, the customer service and dog-friendly atmosphere were fantastic! I didn't get a chance to rent a bike this time, but I'd definitely stop by again on my next visit to Carmel. Maybe I'll have better luck with a different drink next time!

I've received several recommendations to stop in to La Bicyclette, so when a Friday night reservation for 4 opened, I knew I had to snag it! La Bicyclette markets itself as a French and European inspired bistro. It is extremely popular, so make a reservation if you want to eat before 9pm! The interior is charming and homey. The dress code is casual, but you can dress up if you'd like! By the time we came in for our reservation, we were ready to dig in! Our order included the following: * Gnocchis à la Parisienne $21**: I heard rumors about this miraculous gnocchi and it did not disappoint! The sauce was rich and cheesy, yet the gnocchi was bouncy and not soggy! I could eat this all by myself! * Tuscan Panzella Salad $20**: The freshest heirloom tomatoes were used in this salad. The croutons were tasty and super crunchy, balancing out the sweetness of the vinaigrette and strawberries. The portion is generous too! * Poisson Mediterranean $46: Cod was the catch of the day! The sauce was very flavorful, a bit much for me. The fish was perfectly cooked! * Spaghetti Amalfitana $48: This comes with a lobster tail -- wow! The sauce was also rich. The portion was huge, definitely shareable. The shrimp tasted like it was fresh out of the ocean! Not for me, but may be for some! * Steak au Poivre $58: The steak was perfectly cooked! Sliced easily and fell apart in your mouth. The peppercorn cognac sauce was delicious! * Summer Truffle Pizza $35**: I will be thinking about this pizza for the rest of my life. Crispy, not overwhelmingly oily, using real truffle on top. I would go back for this alone!!! Dessert: * Pot de Mousse au Chocolat (for two) $17: Luscious chocolate mousse, not overly sweet. Easy to eat and perfect for you and a date! * Affogato $14: I didn't try anything but the Madeline, which was fine! ** is a must-order! The service was spectacular. We were checked on many times during the dinner. The staff was attentive and thoughtful with their recommendations. I will yearn for La Bicyclette until the next time I return! 50000 stars out of 5.
