Terrible birthday celebration experience. Took my parents for my dad's 91st as my dad has celiac disease and Lettuce restaurants tend to be more accommodating. Waitress said she'd send the sommelier and we waited over 30 minutes and watched him pass by our table 5 times. Waitress did not return for 40 min. Food was good, but homemade pasta was better at Piccolo Sogno, Ciccio Mio and Monteverde. They seated us next to the loudest cackling table of 8 people in the restaurant and we could not enjoy the ambience. They brought the gelato we ordered for my dad with no candle even though I watched several other tables next to us get one. When I asked, the waitress said it was because my dad had a gluten allergy and couldn't have the birthday dessert. I complained to a manager so they sent a plate of GF cookies with a candle. Any food dropped on the table from appetizers to entrees to dessert was never cleaned or cleared like you'd expect at a fancy restaurant. Manager apologized when we left and gave us his card for when we return. $500 meal that was a waste for a celebration. We do not plan to return. I don't usually write reviews but wanted to warn others. The service is just not at the level it should be. read more

This is a definitely a place you go to be seen: very influencer-y, lots of louboutins and designer handbags. Everyone is dressed to the nines. Note - they do not allow you to stand at the bar. The only area that is open seating is the bar rail, which has about 12 seats. You have to wait at the host stand until they tell you that a seat has opened. They even have a bouncer behind a rope, sort of "guarding" this room. Long story short, I would not come here without a reservation. The service was excellent as was the food. Is it overpriced? Yes. But it's worth coming for the overall vibe and views. read more

From the moment we arrived for our reservation, we were wowed. We were seated in Antonio's section and felt so well taken care of - it felt like we were dining with an old friend. The attention and care he paid to us was above and beyond. He was personable and incredibly professional. His recommendations were spot on, we loved the white focaccia (so light and fluffy), the gnocchi (mixed with with the fresh parm and cacaio e pepe was divine), the gnudi (little ricotta and spinach pillows that were so decadent) and the rib cap (how is a steak so perfect?) plus potatoes (seasoned perfectly). We also did nonna's tarte (light and delicious with a hint of lemon) and the pistachio gelato (with a pistachio sauce on top). All of it was incredible. Who knew potatoes could be so delicious? The setting itself was comfortable and had a great view of the river. We will be back, 100%, every time we're in Chicago (and able to get a reservation). read more

Do not dine here on Valentines day. To start off we were very excited to dine here so we decided that paying 120 dollars for a reservation would have been worth it. I was wrong. From the beginning I felt as there was a ticking time clock for our reservation. You had to be out of the restaurant so you were forced to order your food right away. My biggest complaint hands down is the 120 dollar reservation fee. On the website they made it seem like you were getting your moneys worth but I felt like it was a complete rip off. For the 120 (60 dollars per person), you got a small little cocktail. Was the size of a vegas bomb and our waiter didn't tell us what was in it. The desert was a little box of marshmallows the size of my finger. When the waiter put it on our table, I literally laughed because those two things were definitely not worth 60 dollars maybe not even 10. The dinner was okay but definitely not the best. The only good thing about the restaurant is the ambiance and the views. I loved the interior design and how luxurious the space felt. read more

The scenery, service, and food was extraordinary. We were celebrating our anniversary and they paid attention to every detail during the meal. We started with the short rib meatballs and the panzanella. The panzanella was the perfect starter but I thought the meatballs were slightly dry and needed more sauce to accompany them. For the main course, we had the lemon pasta and the spinach gnudi. The gnudi was delicious and the lemon pasta complimented it tremendously. We also ordered the filet and a side of the potatoes. The filet might have been the best folt I have had in ages. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned while practically melting in your mouth. For dessert the devil's food chocolate with drunken cherries was super rich but light at the same time. Overall it was one of the better meals my wife and I had in years! read more

Tre Dita was a culinary masterpiece. When we first walked in I was wowed, the lights, the window, and honestly the whole ambiance. Before I go into the food I would also like to say the service was second to none. Now let's get started with the apps. First we have some of the best focaccia bread I've ever had. It melted in ur mouth with the perfect amount of rosemary. Second we have their short-rib meatballs. These were cooked and fried to perfection. They had a perfect crisp when u bite into them with a short rib utopia in the middle. Now let's move into the pasta course. We had the tagliatelle al Ragu and the rigatoni con quanciale e pomodorini. First the tagliatelle was al dente and the perfect texture. This was complimented with one of the most flavorful sauces I've ever had. The meat was perfect and was seasoned unbelievably. Now the rigatoni was also al dente with a bright and in your face pomodoro sauce completed by perfectly cooked quanciale. Now the steaks, we got a New York strip and a bone in ribeye. Let's start with the New York strip, it was cooked great and had a marvelous amount of flavor. The rib eye was one of the best steaks I've ever had. It was melt in your mouth perfection with a great flavor profile and a great crust. Now let's go into dessert. We got a devil food cake, a tiramisu, and a pistachio and espresso gelato. The food cake was so rich and decadent. Now the tiramisu, the lady fingers were soaked perfectly and the mascarpone was fluffy and rich. Now let's get to the gelato, the espresso was so rich and could taste every aspect of the coffee influence. Now the pistachio gelato, possibly the best bite of the night it took me straight back to Italy with the flavor and texture. Here at Tre Dita we only do organic ingredients and that was obvious in the gelato. It was rich, packed with flavor and had the perfect white color we all love to see. As a final summary Tre Dita is one of the best restaurants in Chicago for its food, culture, service, and ambiance. read more

Incredibly beautiful space with great views of the river and city. Service was strong at times. Ruben was friendly but not always present. The five stars really is for the ambiance. The food was more in the four stars category. Highlight by far was he 32 oz ribeye with arugula and potatoes. The fennel side dish was nothing special. Squash blossoms was underwhelming. Without doubt, the nicest dining room and view in Chicago. The ambience is off the charts spectacular. The service was five star. The food was equally as good. My wife and I were not planning on eating a meal just a few apps and maybe sharing an entrée. We started out with their spin on a gnocchi, which was made of spinach over a mushroom cream sauce. My wife selected that first item I wasn't too crazy about it but once I tasted it, it knocked me off my chair it was so good. We followed that up with the brisket meatballs. Incredible! We had to have some pasta after watching them make it so we did something simple and tried the Pici Cacio E Pepe . It's a simple dish of pasta and cheese, but it was prepared perfectly. If you ever try to make this at home, you know how hard this simple dishes is to perfect. I wasn't going to leave a review but when I realized I could not stop thinking about my experience, I knew I had to. I have been wanting to dine at Tre Dita since they opened their doors, when it was only the bar. I Set an alarm at 12am a week prior to book for the dining area. I was so happy to have a reservation. My husband & I arrived 10min early dressed for the occasion. We were greeted by the host, she acknowledged our anniversary & they sat us. No special requests, but as they sat us, I realized we were at the farthest & darkest point of the restaurant. Away from the navy pier & river views, next to the bathrooms. I've had a less preferred seat before but we walked by 4-5 tables available near a window. I was gonna sit there but I mistakenly told my husband & he told the waiter. They moved us right away to the front near the view of Navy Pier, w/o much of a word. I thought this is ok, they tried to make it up & brought my experience at that point from 0/5 to 1/5. The ambiance is beautiful with chic lighting & furniture, once there you see some discrepancies 4/5 for ambiance. Now the fun part, food & drinks. I got a French 75 & margarita both 4/5. We ordered the squash blossoms 5/5, the prawns 5/5 & meatballs 1/5. The squash blossoms needs a sauce but the flavors & cook were amazing, the prawns were my fave. I did not like the meatballs, made w/ shredded beef, breaded & fried. Tortelli 4/5 & Rigatoni w/guanciale 3/5. The tortelli was sweet but tasty, different from other stuffed pastas, rigatoni was nothing special. We ended with a regular NY strip steak 4/5. My husband was not crazy for it, I thought the quality was good, just needed salt. We wanted dessert but service was very lack luster 1/5. The menu is a little overpriced but we knew what to expect. I have dined at Miru & I have vacationed with St Regis which set my expectations very high for Tre Dita. All in all my experience left me questioning: Why would you not offer the best possible experience for first time restaurant customers arriving early on their anniversary? Why would you let them walk by 5 available tables straight to the back? My average rating for Tre Dita is (2.5/5) stars. I didn't get to eat here, but my issue is with the customer service. I called twice, Inwas looking for a reservation for a Saturday for my daughter's birthday. I called on Thursday and Friday. I spoke to a gentleman on the phone who told me they didn't take reservations until a week before the date you were looking for. I said no problem. He told me it opened at 12 the week before. I specifically asked if it was going to be a problem getting a reservation for that day because I hadn't made any anywhere else. He responded shouldn't be, call me back and we'll set you up. So the Saturday before I go on the site at noon and all the tables are gone! He never said the tables go at 12 midnight, that's ridiculous, I have to get up to reserve a table. I called the next day and spoke to a woman and told her about my dilemma, she apologized and told me she would pass it on to her managers and they would contact me within the next day to see what they could do. Never received a phone call from anyone. A place where your going to go spend a ton of money should have way better customer service than that, and if management is reading the girl on your recorded message says bienvenido, you're an Italian restaurant, not a Mexican restaurant!
