I purchased the Medium Flush Nex Gen Hybrid Wood Burning Insert and I have to say, two pieces have came off in less than a year and a half. Unfortunately the Dealer I purchased from is no help. I am charged a service charge each time the installer has came. First there was a piece backordered and they came immediately to install fully aware they did not have everything. We have three of their fireplaces and love all of them. We've got the Evergreen, which comes out the heat we've got the propane Northfield, which is wonderful with the three viewing windows and our favorite is the Apex 42 with the green start push button igniter. It's absolutely amazing! It heats the entire house actually sometimes we gotta tone it down. The design of their Fireplace is better than anyone else. I did a heck of a lot of research. We bought ours through Anderson Fireplace of Everett, Washington. They also have a shop in Mukilteo. But nobody makes fireplaces like Travis industries and their fire extraordinaire line and their Lopi line. When I said, I did a lot of research I mean, I did a lot of research! I would give them 0 stars if I could. My new gas fireplace came with peeling paint and the brick like backing had big gouges in it. The dealer didn't want to stand behind it. They finally painted it. It would never work during a power outage even with new batteries. After 8 years I had to replace the module which cost $1000. After two months the pilot comes on but won't stay on and it only lights the burner once in a great while. I have had other gas fireplaces with no problems. It just junk! I want to replace the whole unit instead of spending another $1000. read more

Xtrordinair is a poor company - it has no customer service phone number and no technical support, leaving customers at the mercy of (1) fireplace servicing companies that gouge customers and provide poor customer service (saying things like they don't have time to answer questions because they "have a business to run" clearly meaning they are in the business of taking customers' money but providing no explanations or answers to questions) and (2) fireplace retailers that sell the fireplaces and say they have very limited knowledge and expertise. What reputable company provides no customer support or service or technical support? The entire industry is poorly run and is set up to take customers' money as their only priority, leaving customers high and dry when they run into any problems with the complex and expensive units. So the Lopi gas fireplace insert is finally working as it should...5.5 months after installation. Replacement of the main gas valve assembly cured the lack of fire after 2 months. Took another 3.5 months to fix the intermittent remote control receiver assembly. Slow dealer response coupled with reliability issues makes this a poor choice when compared to other brands. read more

Remote control devices are poorly made and their tutorials tend to undermine the product itself. Listen to the explanation of why you might need to recalibrate the devices - it is humorous. I have a $4500 Lopi TRV 21 in pieces strewn around my home because the control module failed after 3 years - leaving the fireplace useless. The dealer I bought it from does not do business with Travis any longer...and referred me to another local dealer. A new module was ordered there which required a deposit of $160...and a new module was promised within 30 days...that was SIX MONTHS AGO. Now they're saying that the modules - made in China - are on back order and say a new module will not be available until after January 2022!!! This Travis fireplace is junki and their product service is a fraud upon the consumer...and a small-claim lawsuit is my next approach to save an interior and exterior wall of my home designed around it. read more

TRAVIS INDUSTRIES We purchased a Lopi Propane Fireplace Insert from The Stove Shoppe in Manchester, NH in early 2019 and it worked only three winter seasons until Fall of 2022 when we noticed it was not operating properly. Upon investigation, we found a hole in the burner plate that was clearly the result of an explosion. We took the burner plate to The Stove Shoppe and were told it was most likely caused by water in our propane inferring it was not their problem. Interestingly, our 18 yr old propane furnace and 8 yr old propane water heater had no issues. Realizing we would not get help from the Stove Shoppe, we contacted the manufacturer, Travis Industries, and were told by a technician that in colder climates the propane puddles in the unit causing such an explosion. This technician also told us we could easily replace the burner plate and the unit should function properly. We ordered the part through the Stove Shoppe and picked it up a few days ago. The part cost $115 and the total was $127 because they had the nerve to charge us for the shipping fee!! If colder climates cause propane appliances to not function safely, why are they sold by Travis Industries to retailers in NH?? We were advised by our town deputy chief fire inspector to contact the NH State Fire Marshal to find out if there ever was a recall on this model of propane insert. We will pursue this further and in the meantime we will cautiously use our insert and never run it unattended. We spent $3700 for an appliance that is clearly not safe and we got absolutely no customer satisfaction from The Stove Shoppe or the manufacturer, Travis Industries. read more

I also bought a GS2 gas insert and am very sorry I did. The remote uses up batteries in less than a week and the insert will not light or even let the pilot light stay on when the batteries fail. The dealer is coming for the second time to fix. They would like me to have it wired direct but I do not want any additional expense for this mistake. Just purchased a Lopi Endeavor wood stove for our main source of heating and have been very happy with it so far. I purchased 2 Tempest torches wall mounted with electronic ignition. They have electronic ignition that have never, ever worked properly from day one! People we bought them from went out of business so we get pawned off on new service people who cannot help us either. I should have known better because as I was buying these they were just changing the make on their electronic ignition system per the man I purchased them from. Obviously the make has changed because the ones I got are horrible! NOW I FIND OUT THESE TORCHES HAVE BEEN REDESIGNED TWICE IN THE LAST 2 YEARS SINCE I RECEIVED MINE, OBVIOUSLY THEY WERE A POOR DESIGN!!! Travis/Lopi does not stand behind their warranty. I spent just shy of $5000.00 for a top of the line Lopi Woodburning stove. I was advised I was getting a 'deal' as the optional fan cover plate had been broken out when shipped to the store - I was getting a fan so that was fine. I saw the unit in factory wrapping and was not able to see the actual unit. the unit was shipped and arrived in a van with no way to unload it much less put it in my home. Andrew Leonard the owner told me I should 'borrow a forklift from my neighbour.' Seriously? I was forced to find options which cost me in having to pay a local business to finish the delivery. I gave a hundred of the apparent balance due to the neighbour to complete the delivery. When I unpacked the stove it was clear it went through no inspection at the retailer. The interior was filled with smashed firebricks, and some exterior damage. I contacted Andrew whose only concern was an additional 100 dollars. As for the broken part he said he would deliver them 'when he next was in my area.' (We are about 60 miles away.) This has never happened. I contact Lopi in the US who refused to intervene and back the product (despite warranty) saying this was their best dealer in Ontario. (I presume that means who they make the most money off of.) Lopi failed to take any responsibility. Mr. Leonard is a fast talking salesman, refused to solve this in writing and now almost 3 months later has avoided solving this mess which was clearly of his making. I would strongly encourage anyone to reconsider doing business with the organization or purchasing Lopi products as their warranty is useless as they only refer back to incompetent dealers. read more

I brought a Lopi Freedom Bay wood burning insert. After using it a few times the inside top section was coming apart. Called the dealer and they referred me to this company the manufacturer. Travis then referred me to their dealer and the back and forth just went on. Suffice to say that the dealer was completely incompetent and the manufacturer will make any excuse to void their warranty. Travis Gas fire places are marginal at best and when I called to inquire about the rusted fireplace in my Mammoth Lakes house and how they can help me, they said that they only work through their dealer and essentially have no relationship with me. And by Dealer, he means the Fire place installer guy. More stupid comment, I have never heard from anyone in any business. I will not buy another fire place from them until hell freezes over. Travis Industries has the worst customer service on this planet. I purchased on of their pellet stoves that came with too many issues to list. It was a new model that cost $4,000 installed. Since it was a new product, it malfunctioned many times. Igniters were burning out every 6 months. blower motors had lasted a year. ALL due to a design problem. They didn't stand behind their product. I spent hundreds of dollars repairing the stove AFTER the warranty expired. Turns out that so many people had the same problems, Travis Garski the owner of the company had someone investigate the issues, and all it was is Travis Industries didn't drill the proper size hole in the burn pot. I begged and pleaded with them for a new burn pot with the proper size hole, Their answer was NO, DRILL THE HOLE YOURSELF. OMG really. So I went to the seller, and they were kind enough to help a Disabled Veteran with a new Burn pot from Travis. I've had it now almost 2 years, and all the WELDS are coming apart. AGAIN another malfunction from Travis Industries.That they won't stand behind. I now went back to the seller, and Travis. Both said no replacement, but the burn pot has a 5 year warranty from the manufacture. Even thou I've had the new design for only 2 years. Travis Industries is the worst company in the states. It's been 14 months of ear rattling noises at constantly varying pitches. Like others said TRAVIS INDUSTRIES wants nothing to do with the consumer, I can't get their local rep to call me back either. Been trying to return this defective/flawed Deerfield as it had proven to be junk and seems to have been assembled with inferior components. Lucky the warranty has covered three service calls and auger motor and exhaust fan, which began making same noises two days after replacement, now waiting for auger to be replaced. 14 month old unit, Travis seems to lack a focus on quality. I suppose if they made decent equipment they wouldn't be afraid to face their consumers and service what they sell. My Advice: BUY NOT- TRAVIS INDUSTRIES, LOPI and the rest of their crap. RE: non-existent customer service. I had a 564 SS GSR2 installed 14 months ago. Love it. However, when I changed my remote batteries the FP stopped working (remote works.) My dealer has no idea what the light at back left blinking 3 times means. There is no information in the booklet or online. Travis Industries HAS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. If you call the 800 # there is a recording asking for your address so they can send a catalogue. If you press 3 for dealer/tech support there is a full mailbox. Email they simply reply "contact your dealer." So, if anything goes wrong, you are on your own unless you pay for a repair service call. read more

Stay away from Lopi gas inserts, which are made by Travis Industries. I purchased a new DVS GSR2 Insert in 12/2013. In the first year it didn't work the 2 months I most needed it to. It wouldn't ignite on a routine basis. I had the service guy come out and he 'fixed' it. When he left he said although it still didn't start in the first 15 seconds (more like a minute) that it was technically fixed. He said if I had any problems that they would replace it at that time. Well the 1 minute start time turned into 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 30 minutes, and then a few days later it wouldn't light at all. I called the service tech immediately afterward, and they ordered the replacement part. The part has been on backorder for over 60 days now. I selected Travis Industries because they were made in the US and pride themselves on quality and being a small family business. Perhaps they are too small. If you can't get a part in 60 days that is a problem. Furthermore, the lack of communication is even worse (although that is more on the service technician). Another annoying thing is the remote control LCD has these white marks that don't come off (see pic). I barely had this thing for a year. That shouldn't happen. Questionable quality and poor service. Wish I hadn't gotten talked out of my original selection of the Heat N Glo. Buyer beware (google the model you are thinking about first). Lopi stoves and gas inserts now have a poor reputation with several complaints. read more

We purchased a Fireplace Xtrordinair due to its EPA rating and dealer recommendations. We have had woodstoves and fireplace inserts in previous homes and have had no issues with performance or smoking. The 36 Elite has had smoking problems from the start. I have found other instances of this issue on the web, but no answers on how to correct it. I called the company and they stated I would have to contact the dealer to have it checked out. Unfortunately, the local dealer who sold this unit to us also was unresponsive when the unit was initially delivered and the doors did not close properly. When confronted in his store about when the door issue was going to be resolved (a few weeks had gone by and we had not heard anything from him about the status, we decided to drive to his business and inquire), he asked us to leave. He stated he did not feel he needed to contact us every day with an update and would fix it when his #1 installer returned to the office. Travis stated our dealer would need to come out and inspect it to determine the problem. I explained the current status of our relationship and they told me they could not help me... I guess if we cannot find anyone to assist us, we will rip the unit out next spring and stay away from anything associated with Travis Industries. I would have thought they would have relationships with their dealers and could assist in getting this problem resolved for us. read more

We purchased a Lopi pellet stove a few years ago. Although we feel the stove burns pellets and heat well the design has a major flaw. We found that when the power goes out which it frequently does the fan which controls smoke removal from the inside of stove to outside has no back up system. We purchased our Lopi stove in Marysville WA. The dealer agreed to come out and install another pipe to the stove to the outside. This was supposed to solve the problem of the smoke coming out of the stove during power outages. Well yesterday the power went out. The house again filled up with smoke. Our smoke alarms went off and after fanning with pillows and opening door and windows they finally went off. Thank god for smoke alarms as this has happened while we have sleep in the past. We could die of smoke inhalation if not for our smoke alarms. Travis industries needs to come up with a battery back up for the fan in the stove before someone dies!!!! read more

But I need to get ahold of Travis Industries for a reason unrelated to my fireplace and you will notice on their webpage at "contact us" they only give a physical address!! no phone number, no email and refer to their dealers (its like they are saying. "hey, dont bother us, go away!"). I had to search the internet for a email address for them and when I tried to send an email, I got a kick back message that specifically says that Travis industries has a filter that does not allow my email to go thru to them; and this is my first and only time contacting them) I also found one phone number that they do not answer. Even on the pic and quote on the front webpage, they do not identify the person in the pic or quote. NEVER buy LOPI small flush hybrid wood insert from Rich's or anyone any where . I bought mine from Southcenter Rich's on Sept 3 2016 for $4,198.78 and was installed Sept 15 2016. I have had Rich's repair here 4 times repairing the top damper that sticks either closed or opened. In 12 days (March 21 2017) they will be back to fix damper AGAIN...this service repair call will be # 5!!!!! Let me tell you how much anxiety I have wondering when it will be stuck again. When it sticks shut, I CANNOT make a fire. When it stuck open my wood burns up fast!! I have to let fire go out leaving my house cold , so repair man can work on it. I have to wait up to 2 weeks after calling for service repair to be here. During this wait time, the damper does stick at times. We finally unstick it. I feel this has been a run around and I feel strongly that this unit is DEFECTIVE. I feel Rich's should stand behind their products. I need either a replacement and if not I will fight to the end for a full refund!! I feel at age 69, I am being played for a fool and being taken advantage of. I feel anyone would have demanded a replacement or refund if they had the same problem. I am asking, anyone who has the same unit to please contact me if you have the same trouble. I am only putting one star because the message will not post otherwise. Please learn from my mistake and do not support this company or its distributors. No customer service is provided once you buy. I have had nothing but troubles and zero support from Travis Industries or the local distributor in Wenatchee. Absolute snakes! I grew up in a house that only had wood heat in Enumclaw, WA. You cannot buy the wood stove I had grown up with so bought a Lopi Endeavor fall 2017. Poor design, come to find out, with the damper up top that is supposed to slide back and forth over the stove pipe opening inside the stove. Take a close look and you will see that the design is poor and you will end up with the metal plate covering the stove pipe hole when you think it is open. It comes unhooked. This causes smoke to poor out the wood stove and make all your fire alarms go off in the house as well as builds up the black stuff very quickly. The black stuff build up leads to chimney fires. We fix that ourselves because the distributor will not come check it out for free. Remember, this is 2 months into having a brand new wood stove. After squaring away that problem the wind picks up and smoke is pouring out the top, front, and side of the Lopi Endeavor wood stove. This happens twice causing the house to fill with smoke very quickly and of course the fire alarms are going off as well yet again. I call both the local distributor and Travis Industries and they offer no help or guidance. The chimney length is a problem - too short. Never once did they ask for my name. Serious attitude of "We do not care because we got our money, lady." I suggest you buy from a different company. Not my definition of integrity. read more

In February of this year I ordered a replacement hand control for my Travis Industries House of Fire gas fireplace through their dealer in Albuquerque, Richard Salazar of Valencia Valley Chimney Sweeping and Stove Sales, showing him the control I wanted to replace and giving him the number of the part from the stove's instructions and paying him half of the $245 that he said it would cost. He removed the packing list from the outside of the box when it arrived and delivered the box to me, knowing that it did not contain what I had ordered but a bunch of parts for which I had no possible use. Not suspecting that he was dishonest, I paid him the second half of the $245. However, after I opened the box I phoned him as he was driving away to tell him of the error; he said he would return after his next job but instead hurried to cash my second check. He later claimed that the company would not take back the wrong items. I sent a letter to Travis Industries explaining this by registered mail and received a return receipt, but later when a consumer advocate from the Mew Mexico Attorney General's Office spoke with Richard at the company, he had not seen it. He said the items could be returned without a re-stocking fee and sent Mr. Salazar a refund form, but he will not send it in. It seems that Travis Industries either has no influence over or doesn't care about what sort of people they have as dealers. This man has not responded to efforts from the A.G.'s office or the BBB to make this situation right, but for three years the BBB will have this information in the review they give to customers. read more
