Need help figuring out what you want? THEY WILL HELP Whether it is being delivered or you are picking it up, they are just pretty amazing. And, wait for it...they treat everyone as a VALUED CUSTOMER. They do not seem to care "if you have a zipper or a fly in those jeans", as my mom used to say, everyone will receive great customer service. How cool is that? BEWARE, I had five yards of garden soil delivered last spring. 2025. used in many different areas. in the next few months my plants started to die or new seedlings grew no higher than a inch. most seed never germinated. finally realized the problems were all where I had used this garden soil. did some research which points to herbicides. I have left several requests with personal, promised manger would get back to me. I have never had a response. Tried email phone messages and text. Is there a fix or treatment? I've loved everything from this company EXCEPT the garden soil. Delivery is great, service is great, mulch and rock has always been great, but holy smokes the soil is horrendous. I put in several gardens worth this season in the hopes of supplying our food banks, but that's just not going to happen now. Most things didn't even grow. Seeds popped long enough to expend their reserves, turn yellow or purple, and then die. Anything that managed to grow is tiny, yellow, and sickly. I have several thousand dollars in fruit trees and other plants that I've been slowly watching die over the last several months. After speaking to another local gardener, he suspects Grazon or some other growth suppressant may be involved. (Not on purpose. Accidents happen, but still have consequences.) I now need to rip out all of this dirt and isolate it somewhere until I figure out what to do with it. My trees need to be dug up and my garden beds fully rehabbed. I'm really hoping at least my trees make it. That was a big investment to lose down the drain. i want to be clear that I love this company for everything else, but until they figure out what's going on with that garden soil, please stay away from it. I've included a picture of the single (purple) green bean that managed to grow out of 70 plants. It only grew because I dug miracle grow in around it's roots in a hail-mary attempt to salvage something. Everything I've grown that doesn't touch this soil is doing well, but this soil is the kiss of death for anything it comes into contact with. We bought 5 yards of the Bailey's compost to top dress our garden beds. I recommend finding another product and/or inspect it before buying it. The compost is pretty dirty and full of crap you don't want in a top dressing. Rocks, branches, garbage, baseball sized clods (manure?) in such quantities that it can't just be spread, it has to be raked and cleaned. This has cost us significant extra work cleaning it out after we put it down. We didn't get enough, incidentally, and need about 5 more yards. We won't be getting more of the same. read more

The one star is for the delivery, which was excellent. The soil was absolutely HORRIBLE, and there is no need to exaggerate. I ordered the garden mix which is considered premium and 'needs no additives'. Well, it has been over three months and our garden is languishing with pale leaves and tiny plants. Most of the seeds we tried to start never germinated, and most of the seeds that did germinate refused to grow beyond one inch, and most eventually just died. We tried tomatoes, cucumbers, basil, cilantro, pumpkins, zucchini, parsley, marigolds, green onions, mint, sweet peas, green beans, and other veggies. Only the green onions seemed to be determined to survive, and actually grew, though slowly. After a couple months with no visible growth, we did attempt to salvage some of the plants by removing them from the garden and repotting them with soil from our yard, which has terrible compacted clay soil. For most of the plants, our efforts were too late. But we did manage to save several tomato plants which are now growing slowly and reached a foot tall by late July; puny for our usually massive tomato plants. Also, some pumpkin and zucchini have begun to turn from yellow to green leaves, but still have a long way to go. We salvaged one cilantro plant out of 20, although it is only three inches tall and already flowering. The dozen basil plants are still in the greenhouse and all are nearly one inch tall, after more than three months of "growing". The takeaway from this experience is: Next year, simply dig some holes in the yard and use that soil for growing instead of wasting hundreds on fake 'garden soil' with zero nitrogen. Or, simply avoid buying your soil from Topsoils Northwest. Incidentally, I still have to decide what to do with the remaining four yards of their dead soil still sitting in our driveway. The Three Way Premium soil is a joke. It is definitely not screened to the 1/2 inch they advertise and is mostly wood shavings. For two years in a row, we have had to clean the soil thoroughly when applying it. It is also full of rocks and larger sticks. I have purchased their products for 20+ years and something has changed in the last couple of years so I will not be back. There are plenty of choices in the area. What a shame to see a great company decline so quickly. read more

I was very pleased with my experience with Topsoils NW. I went on their website and got an automated quote. This is so nice and saves me the time of having to call while just price shopping. However, I ended up going with Topsoils NW mainly because of their good reviews and that online quoting thing. It's just so nice! I ordered a few yards of compost. They had a lead-time of about a week - which was perfectly fine for me (and expected). They called me when they were on their way to let me know, and when they got here, they dropped off the stuff and took off. They were doing contactless delivery due to COVID. I got the Baileys Compost - product quality is pretty good from what I can tell - a few plastic bits here and there which was expected. Customer Feedback: I recently ordered 12 yards of Dark Fine Mulch and it was delivered right on time. The product was beautiful and really dressed up our flower beds! I also want to commend the driver who had to back his truck up an uphill curved driveway which he did with precision. The load was perfectly dumped on one side of the driveway without spillage into the other lane or into the lawn (not an easy feat with a big truck!) The product was clean and beautiful! Ordered 5 cubic yards of their topsoil 3 way premium and it didn't look like it was screened at 1/2" at all. Currently screening all of them myself by hand and I now have a growing mound of rocks, broken glass, zip ties and some more garbage. Totally made my yard reno harder and a lot longer as I was expecting this to be sifted as per the description. Other aspects are fine like getting a quote, ordering and delivery. It's just their product is not worth the price, I will definitely look for other alternatives for topsoil in the future. read more

I love my new lawn! Their sod is amazing, and their instructional videos showed how to do it right. I am SO glad I didn't mess around with grass seed for the next 2 months! Their staff were very friendly and helpful and treated me and my small (2 pallets) order the same as if I was a big landscaper. A friend recommended Topsoils Northwest to me after I told her I was concerned about getting low quality mulch from a place that doesn't really compost their products. I've noticed quite a few friends who've bought bark from other companies and along with the bark they get horsetail. I'm glad I listened to my friend! I bought 5 yards of Topsoils Northwest Fertil-mulch compost to top dress my daughter's garden beds after renovating them. This stuff is a rich, natural dark brown and was steaming when it was delivered, a good sign for compost! It's made from composted animal bedding and sawdust, and like the description from their website says, it doesn't smell. Like bark, this compost makes the beds look great, but unlike plain bark, this compost will feed the beds essential nutrients as it breaks down over the years. Ordering what I needed was a breeze! Their website is well organized and easy to use. I plugged in the amount I needed, added my daughter's address, and got an instant quote. I then called the number and spoke to an employee who had the information in front of him and he said he could have it delivered in two days! The delivery was right within the one hour window they gave me, so I didn't have to wait around all day. Use common-sense people. Sellers of a commodity like soil, bark, etc. do the best job they can. It's a commodity with variance - some patches of dirt might have deposits of something you don't like, some patches might have the purest richest material. For example, I looked at reviews from Lowe's about a manure topsoil - supposed to be the greatest thing ever. Tons of positive ratings, people just loving the stuff. For my experience, when I put 20 bags on my lawn as topsoil, it had a lot of rocks. Is this to say that their product is ALWAYS full of rocks? No. Anyways, my own personal experience of Topsoils Northwest, Inc was their topsoil was amazing. No large rocks just like the salesman said - they pass it through a screen and rocks no larger than a quarter (I think) make it through. So, quality of soil, A+. Delivery? Dumptruck guy was extremely nice and was able to dump it on my tarp just where I needed it. Overall, just a great experience. I would recommend them, and use this company again. read more

I have been using Topsoils NW soil products for years and appreciate the product they provide. I have tried dozens of other suppliers and prefer their topsoil over the others. The 3 way is manure based & spreads very evenly. Ordered a truck load of Bailey compost in May. I have pulled plastic, batteries, plastic bottles, chains and nails from it. It's now July and am still finding bits of plastic and junk to throw away. Disappointed my mom was told this was going to be top grade soil and that they don't use the cheap stuff. The soil that was delivered was mostly sand once we filled the garden we worked so hard on and watered the plants you can see the sand all over, we were making a butterfly garden not a cactus garden. Very disappointed they gave mom cheap filler in her soil telling her it was high grade not to mention I spent a good portion of time picking Sunkist stickers or chocolate bag pieces out of this premium soil mom was sold. read more

This is my go to place for black bark, rock, sod, topsoil, rock...whatever my landscaping needs are. I have yet to go there and be disappointed with service or quality of whatever I get. Their prices are very comparable to other companies. I had to have my sod hand loaded into my truck and the employee helping me never seemed bothered or like it was an inconvenience. I had 20 yards of topsoil delivered from these guys in the fall of 2010 to replant/renovate my lawn. Spring of 2011 - a species of clover (large broad leaf, thick stem) takes over and requires 2 applications of weed killer to remove. Fall of 2011 - 4 different species of mushrooms are prevalent all over the yard. Not sure what compost this business uses in their topsoil, but frankly I paid too much money to for the crap they delivered. read more

I just called for pricing and compared the pricing to Pacific Topsoils. They are higher per square yard on dark fine mulch than Pacific Topsoils. They also would not give me a contractor discount unless I'm in there every month spending $10k. (sales rep quote). I'm a general contractor, not a landscaper, so no, I would not be in as much as some others, but Pacific Topsoils DID offer a contractor's discount even though I'm not a "landscape contractor". To me, Pacific wanted my business and Topsoils NW did not. read more
