Fettucini Ragu and Spaghetti Carbonara. delicious.

This is such a cute family owned restaurant here in Rome. Located very close to the Roma Termini station, this was a great spot for us to grab dinner before we left Italy. This spot had wonderful classic a Roman dishes. We loved that you could truly tell it was all family in this place. By the back, you see nonna holding down the fort and checking on everyone in the restaurant, while her sons/grandsons are bustling around getting and delivering orders. Though we loved the friendliness and kindness, we did note that it got a bit disorganized. When we arrived at the said opening tiime on yelp, they didn't open up for another 20 minutes while setting up. A nice and excited line formed outside, which showed the food was worth waiting for. Inside, some of the things we asked to order were not available or they were out of it for the day. Once we were done ordering, they brought us a different anti pasta than we ordered. Luckily they didn't make us pay for it. And then they didn't bring us vegetables we ordered for after the pasta which stinks. Again, didn't have to pay for that either. Nonna gave is free tiramisu at the end of the night. She was also cute and kind while helping clean up tables. Would love to see this place place work on some organization and would definitely come back again.

Scotodito lamb - AMAZING!!! I'm not a huge lamb fan because it can be grainey, with a weird taste. This dish however was not. It reminded me of a lamb version of pork belly. It was crispy, well seasoned, And delicious!!! Its on the greasy side, but it paired well with our pasta. Spaghetti with mussels and pecorino cheese - its spaghetti noodles with butter and cheese, added in some mussels with pecorino shavings. And yet such simplicity turned this dish excellent. The pasta was a little salty at first, but more we ate into it was perfect. Artichoke- super soft and tender. Its drizzled with oil. It's a bit bland, but has a very fresh taste. Im not sure if i would order this again. Overall, food was delish and it set the tone for what to expect. this is small mom pop shop. It was good mix of tourists and locals. We got there around 9p and got seated right away although there were many people there.

Homemade Italian Food Wonderful meal! Immerse yourself in true Italian culture with this quaint, homemade restaurant with wonderful food! Portions were good (not too big, not too small). The Prosciutto with Parmesan was delicious. Lasagna was made with exceptional homemade pasta. Carbonerra Spaghetti was amazing! And the gnocchi-BEST GNOCCHI OF MY LIFE! It is a must get (I had it with sage and butter but they offer meat sauce). It was made that day! Everything is very affordable. Ciao! -zo I would like to make a disclaimer that this was my experience, yours could be different

I've been looking for a great pasta place during my time in Rome. I'm lucky to have found this place! I'm staying at a hostel right down the street. I tried the Homemade Ravioli with Butter & Sage. It was phenomenal. This is the stuff dreams are made of! I went after lunch (around 2:00 PM) and they were pretty busy but the service was good and the food was fast. It's not the cheapest, but it's also not expensive. Very tasty food for the price. Their house wines are cheaper than water so I sat here for another hour and just drank. I'm definitely going to try a few more things on the menu!

If you wanna try authentic homemade Italian food in Roma definitely this is the place. I promise you won't be disappointed. The food taste AMAZING!!!! After trying out 3 other restaurants in Roma that I was so disappointed and I found this one. The environment makes you feel like at home, eating mom's cooking food, and it's also super DELICIOUS. I come back several times, and every single time I feel satisfied with all of the dishes I tried. Beside that, the service is a million stars lolz. Unfortunately I only get to stay in Roma for 3 weeks, If I have a chance to come back, definitely I will visit and get the best pasta again. Last but not least, I had the best tiramisù in my entire life there.

This place is what you expect and want a restaurant in Italy to be like. It is and tastes local. The atmosphere and food was some of my favorite in Rome. I didn't find a better Cacio and Pepe anywhere else.

Gnocchi with tomato basil sauce, so good!
    Nick S.

My first authentic Italian meal in Rome was not a disappointment. Highly recommend the gnocchi with tomato basil sauce (11 euros) - so good!! Melts in your mouth. The tiramisu and carrot cake were also decadent. If you're in this are be sure to check this place out - been around for 53 years and going strong.

Entrance to the kitchen = where grandma cooks.

Wow! Long wait to get in. And like most restaurants in Rome we had to wait outside. But after getting a table it was a great experience. The host and servers were so friendly and jovial! We felt like family. "Grandma" was still "working" in the kitchen. Delicious pasta! Good table wine.

Very Disappointing Experience - Osteria da Fortunata, Pantheon Location…read more We have visited Rome several times and have eaten at Osteria da Fortunata della Cancelleria on Via della Cancelleria. During our previous visits, we had excellent experiences with both the food and the customer service, which is why tonight's experience was especially disappointing. We ordered the carbonara and spaghetti, and unfortunately, the pasta was undercooked, very chewy, and cold. It was not at all the quality we had experienced during our previous visits. When we asked the waiter to take the carbonara back because it was not edible, his attitude was extremely disappointing. Rather than offering to replace the dish or addressing our concern professionally, he told us that the manager had approved it and that we could simply take the food home. What made the experience even worse was the atmosphere of this location. The restaurant felt more like a factory than an authentic Italian dining experience. We noticed the staff using walkie-talkies to communicate with the host, and as soon as customers left their tables, the waiter would communicate with the host to immediately send new customers in to fill the space. It gave us the impression that the priority was turning tables over as quickly as possible rather than providing guests with a pleasant dining experience. The constant rush was noticeable and took away from what should have been an enjoyable meal in Rome. It is very unfortunate because we have visited Osteria da Fortunata several times in the past and genuinely enjoyed both the food and the service. Tonight, however, the cold and poorly cooked pasta, the attitude of the waiter, and the rushed, factory-like atmosphere made this a very disappointing experience.

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.

Being new to Rome, and having walked 20k steps on our first day, there are an abundance of options a for dining. We wanted something classically Rome nearby to our hotel. The Yelp review of this restaurant was sufficiently positive to entice us. Being American, we appreciate the earlier-than-customary dining options. We arrived at 6pm without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is intimate and very well staffed. The wood fire oven is front-and-center and the fresh mozzarella is prominent in display. We ordered a bottle of wine ... all options are very fairly priced. This is nice. We started with a Greek salad to share. It was unlike any American Greek salad ... and a really delight. It is early June but the tomatoes and peppers were ripe and crisp and really fresh. My wife ordered the Marguerite pizza; I opted for the Gorgonzola pizza (the effusive review on Yelp was compelling). Both were solid. We appreciate the thin crust and the crisp edged. The center of both, however, was doughy and somewhat undercooked. Looking around ... the restaurant was over 50% full even at this early hour. Most were Americans. We saw a good number of diners with pasta dishes ... and none were left unfinished. Sadly, we don't have any comparisons to weigh (yet). So, I cannot affirm any "best of" citations, it this is certainly a solid trattoria/pizzeria. The staff are attentive and the food served hot and fresh.
