The Parmesan gnocchi was good but a little too garlicky for me. The lasagna bolognese taste like Nona's. The gnocchi was good but not the best one I've had in Rome...MAS has that honor. The artichoke pasta was possibly the best meal and the surprise hit. Chocolate cake so good. Little dessert cookies brought out free and Tiramisu was the chefs kiss, and button popper. We were attracted to this restaurant by the large lit up window with a cook making pasta by hand. This is a good magnet to bring people in. There was a long wait for seating at the late hour but to encourage us to stay, the hostess gave us free Prosecco! She also promised us only a 5 minute wait before seats. Little did I know she meant Italian Time which means you add about 10 minutes to whatever they tell you. Anyways, it was worth the wait as the freshly made pasta we had was absolutely delicious. We ended up being seated in the long hallway basement which was decorated nicely with wine barrels on one end and beautiful old stone/brickwork throughout. We had attentive service and loved our dishes. We had the Rosemary Focaccia to start (except most places offer bread for free. This was 5.90!). I had the Ragu 'grandmother (Fettuccine with meat sauce), others had Taglioni with cherry tomatoes and basil and the Gnocchi with truffles and cheese. We also had a couple of Limoncello Spritzes and a Coke. I really loved my dish as the sauce was delicious with lots of meat and carrots and celery and seasoned just right. Others in my party loved their dinners as well. I did taste each of theirs and still liked mine best! The loss of a star comes from the extra charges from this restaurant. The aforementioned bread charge (think of a Mexican restaurant charging for chips and salsa at dinner!) which should be complimentary. The restaurant charges a 2.00 Euro service fee per person which is tantamount to a tip, and then the server had the gall to point out on the check he presented to me that this service charge isn't a tip and if I want to leave a reasonable tip, I can do so by leaving cash on the table for him. TACKY! Oh, and the spritzes were overpriced at 10 Euros each. Sigh...when in Rome. Overall, the food is certainly good but the charges mentioned above and begging for additional tips leave a bad taste in your mouth which isn't what you want at a restaurant. read more

We went here as a stop on our Rome food tour as well. The portions were massive, which was very unusual for Italy. The carbonara was okay, but could've used some pepper. The cacio e Pepe was actually very good, unfortunately we couldn't finish it since it was the final stop on our tour and we were all stuffed at that point. The pizza was decent, but not as good as most other pizza we had while in Italy. Overall it was a decent restaurant, but I wouldn't seek it out as a must go. read more

We made a reservation based upon past reviews. We were disapointed. I ordered Barbecued Ribs thinking it would have a Roman spin to the taste and presentation. The ribs served resembled Baby Back Ribs but not as tender or as tasty. The sauce was sweet like a Carolina sauce no better than off the shelf in a supermarket. My wife ordered off the menu a pasta with truffles ( the fine print said truffle sauce). The server returned to the table telling us that there were no truffles. "They were out of season." We know some of the rare truffles are out of season but Black Truffles are available year round. Other local restaurants were offering truffles. Instead she ended up ordering a Pesto Pasta that was ok...nothing special. The ambience was 1950's. The neighborhood had lots of local atmosphere. We don't ever comment on service as we are in Italy where a slow pace is a welcome way of life. read more

We've been in Rome for almost a week and I have yet to have a bad meal. This place is no exception to that culinary observation. The pasta was phenomenal and made fresh daily. In fact, you can watch the pasta being created from the store front as the chef prepares it in the street window. Speaking of pasta, if that's what you're their for, you can choose from about six different pastas to pair with any of their eight different sauces. My family of four all enjoyed different pastas with different sauces. Even my picky son devoured his plate of ravioli with tomato and basil sauce. The service here is fast and efficient. The atmosphere is quite and enjoyable but the tables are a little crowded as there is not much seating in the restaurant. Regardless, we were able to be seated immediately when we came for lunch. We were really excited to try this place, especially with all the glowing reviews, but came out a bit disappointed. We ordered the Carbonara, Frutti di Mare, and fried artichoke. The Carbonara was very salty - almost inedible. The Frutti di Mare had fresh delicious seafood, but also very salty. The fried artichoke was dry and ironically needed seasoning. Service was ok, nothing to complain about there. Overall, would not recommend this place. Turn away and try finding/supporting smaller family owned establishments. Wish we had done so. read more

Our favorite meal in Rome! Located in Trastevere which is already such a cute romantic neighborhood so of course we picked to come here for our romantic anniversary dinner! We didn't have any reservations but we got tables right away even tho we came in around like 9 PM. As soon as we were getting seated the waitress gave us a glass of Prosecco to start which was really nice. We got fried mozzarella to start which disclaimer: is not mozzarella sticks like Americans would expect! Still pretty good though. We both did the "make your own pasta" entree. I chose a stuffed ravioli with pesto sauce which was absolutely delicious. The best pesto I ever had! My husband got fettuccine with Bolognese he loved too. TL;DR- There is so much good food in Italy; don't waste your money or time on a chain. My fiance and I have spent the last two weeks traveling throughout Italy, and we can say with certainty that this was our least favorite meal of the trip. We picked Pasta e Vino because we were tired, it had good ratings, and we figured a chain would be relatively quick compared to the smaller restaurants without sacrificing quality. When we arrived, the restaurant was packed, and we had to stand in line outside even with a reservation. Once our name was called, we were rushed into a crowded and loud back room where we crammed into a corner table. We ordered focaccia as an appetizer, and it came out at the exact same time as our food. It was hard and crispy like old pizza dough, and certainly not worth ordering. My fiance ordered pizza, which was fine, but nothing too exciting. I had carbonara, and while I've spent the past few years trying to perfect a carbonara recipe, i shouldn't be able to say that I (an American) can make it better than something made fresh in the heart of Rome. It was too salty, the guanciale wasn't crispy, and the pasta was slightly overcooked. Based on the reviews, we decided to have dinner here on our last night in Rome. What a disappointing experience. My husband's food was good, much better than mine. My food was a bit salty. Service was a fail. Once we got our food, we never saw our server again. Nobody checked to see if we needed or wanted anything else. None of the other servers even looked our way. We were done eating and was ready for the check so we asked the server that was getting the check for the table next to us and this guy barely even turned his head to look at us. Out of our week long trip to Rome and Florence, this place still stands out as our most favorite meal! I had made reservations in advance of our trip due to the Trip Advisor reviews. Homemade pasta everything?! Reservations are definitely a must, and our waitress was really great from start to finish. We started with a salad and their fresh ricotta cheese with peppers. That ricotta cheese, yum!!! Their complimentary appetizer, the dip tastes too porky for my taste buds. Onto the pasta...we all ordered different kinds, but everyone liked my tagliolini with pesto. It was the best pasta I have ever tasted, such chewy fresh noodles and the pesto was the perfect combination of creamy and herby. They do charge extra for parmesan which is odd... We then ordered the eggplant parm and pork shank. The pork shank was cooked beautifully but could really do with a sauce as it was dry. The potatoes were yummy! The eggplant parm was probably one of the best we have ever had! No dessert here as they were limited with what they had and what we wanted. Food 4.5 Value 5 Service 5 Décor 5 I will start off by saying that I am biased towards a restaurant that gives you prosecco while you wait for your table :) we only had to wait 5 minutes and we were rewarded with some prosecco... I can't complain about that. The experience only got better from there. The wait staff is extremely charismatic, albeit they don't speak the most english, but that was not an issue. They have huge portions too! Super romantic and perfect for date night. We ordered the carbonara, spuntature e salsiccia and mushroom spaghetti. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The tiramisu looked AMAZING but we were all too full to even try it. When we were there, there was a freak hail storm (it was 78 degrees earlier in the day)... legit CHUNKS of ice were falling from the sky, to the point where part of the roof had somehow collapsed. No one was hurt and it was in a small contained area. The servers made light of the situation and picked up the ice balls and placed one on each table. It was absolutely hysterical and we all got a kick out of it! As I'm sure it was a strange and stressful situation for them, they handled it very well. Place looks cute from the outside and inside. Live piano music is a plus! Unfortunately, those were the only two positive attributes that I can comment on and that's why the place gets two stars. The food was a huge disappointment. We got there under the premises of authentic Roman food, homemade pasta and not dining in a "tourist trap". My wife got spaggatone gricia and I got the ox tail (ox tail is one of my favorite Roman foods and my wife is a spaghetti connoisseur). Her spaggatone had way too much bacon, to a point where it overpowered everything and you are just tasting the bacon. In ox tail meat typically falls off the bones an is very tender. My dish had the meat tough to a point where I couldn't separate it from the bones. The waiter tried to explain that you "really have to work for it", which I didn't buy and asked to cook the meat a bit more. The dish comes back with the same toughness. We just stopped eating, paid the bill and left. The waiter apologized for the chef, but our experience was ruined anyway. Would not recommend this place. read more

Hands down the best restaurant my friends and I have been to in Trastevere. Maurizio served us prosecco while we waited for our table and made even the short wait beforehand tons of fun. Our host, waiter and everyone inside were absolutely amazing. Our waiter recommended a starter for us with fried bread, mozzarella, pesto, olives, bell peppers and basil, and of course our own bottles of olive oil and balsamic. For dinner I ordered Fettuccine with Pasta e Vino sauce and it is now my favorite pasta dish. When the server came to take our plates we told her how good it was but that we were super full so when she came back she brought us each little shots of digestive dessert liquor and some homemade cookies. The whole night was tons of fun and since we loved it so much we decided to head back there tonight. read more
