I raised a very normal question about pricing and he sent me a series of nasty text messages full of personal attacks (we do not know each other.) I am only bothering to post this review to warn others to avoid getting involved with this person. I would strongly caution anyone considering working for or hiring this company. While the individual cleaners seem kind and well-intentioned, the way the business is run raises serious concerns and it seems very exploitative. Multiple reviews document extremely hostile, disproportionate responses from the owner when customers ask routine questions about billing, scope, or quality. In at least one case, a simple inquiry resulted in a multi-thousand-word email filled with personal accusations rather than professional resolution. The company also relies heavily on independent contractors, sends workers alone into homes, and appears to lack basic safeguards, oversight, or accountability. Meaning if you work here and are treated badly by the owner you basically have zero protection since your considered a contractor instead of an employee. Communication is also disorganized, scheduling is inconsistent, and concerns are met with defensiveness rather than transparency. Unfortunately I have to recommend that people stay far away from this company. The company, which advertises itself as non-judgmental and concerned with the mental health of its clients, is run by an owner who thinks it's acceptable to speak to people by insulting their intelligence when they ask questions about invoices, and then blocking them - this person literally ignored me for two weeks when I had a question about an invoice and then made me cry. I'm upset because the cleaner we used was wonderful, but everything else was a disaster. Message from the owner below, and I will also add screen shots. There are different people working on the line. It is not always [name] responding to you; She can't review invoices, but this is the owner, Trash. They're different amounts because your appointments are different lengths. And the deposits are different amounts because they're for different amounts of time, based on the length of your previous appointment. You're not getting a phone call; You would clearly see all this information if you would take 5 minutes to look at the invoice yourself- It tells you right there on the invoice the amount of hours. I've removed the deposit from your invoice because you won't be having another appointment. I have better things to do with my time than repeatedly explain simple math to an adult. I am a mental health professional in an underfunded, under-researched field, not an iPhone calculator, and I would rather my employees spend time booking people in crisis than deal with nonsense. We are blocking you, and technically, there's a $100 late fee for nonpayment after 24 hours, we just allow for an extra 24 hour grace period because we're nice to people who are nice to us, but I don't feel too nice when someone repeatedly wastes my time. read more

Trash is absolutely amazing. The owner, Trash, worked with us directly in Fall 2024 through early 2025 to work on decluttering one specific room we called "the junk room." It had become the "room of shame" and there's a long story behind how and why it got that way. Trash took the time to spend an hour meeting with us to understand our needs, challenges, and goals.. and then he and my partner worked together to declutter that room. Trash was always super kind, sweet, and very timely with communication. Because of our lives (long work hours and being on-call, prioritizing communication with my own clients, parenting young kids, ADHD, etc), we sometimes forgot to respond to a text and he always waited a day or two and then followed up if we hadn't replied. Because my partner was the one doing the physical work with Trash, I asked him one day why he was able to do this work with Trash and not on his own.. and he said, "Oh my god, he does so much.. he doesn't just hold and carry the things away, he asks thoughtful questions, he holds space." There was so much more, of course, but knowing that's how my partner felt with him just fills me with all the appreciation, gratitude, and love for Trash. That room is now a guest room. We've been able to have my mother-in-law come stay with us on occasion so we can relieve my siblings-in-law who are her primary caretakers. And just recently, when referring to the room as the "middle room," my older kid's friend asked for clarification by asking, "the empty room?" Wow, what a difference. I used Trash Friends to do some deep cleaning in my kitchen and bathroom, and it was an excellent choice. I'd asked to cap the cleaning time at five hours, and not only did Novak manage to deep clean the rooms I'd requested, they also vacuumed the house and cleaned my rug that was covered in cat hair that my vacuum wouldn't remove. I used the service to clean my home, do an energy cleanse, and put together some furniture. Storm did a great job with the energy cleanse! The cleaners were all really nice, but the cleaning went 7.5 people hours over the estimate. They didn't mop the floors, and one of the bathroom sinks was missed. Robbie, one of the cleaners who was coming back the following day to put together furniture, noticed some holes in the wall where we removed a banister by the stairs. They offered to patch it up the following day, which was very nice of them! They came back the next day, patched up the holes, and put together a tv stand. We ran out of time before we got to the end tables also needing assembled. All the cleaners were friendly, and they accomplished most of what I wanted them to do. EDITED TO ADD: Y'all, I was trying to be gracious with my review. I was hoping people could read between the lines and see that this is a place that's going to take a lot longer than expected to do what you asked them to do. But since the owner brought up his "incredibly thorough response to my concerns," in his response below, let's talk about it. The fact of the matter is that it should not take almost 20 hours to clean a 4bed/3.5 house that is uninhabited, mostly empty, and mostly clean if but a little dusty, and we didn't have them clean one of the bedrooms because we had already moved some stuff into it. They also didn't mop the floors and missed one of the sinks. One person took three hours in the kitchen alone. It also should not take 4 hours to assemble a TV stand. I wasn't getting much of a meaningful response from the person who sent me the invoices, so I sent my concerns to the owner of this company. What I got in return is an over 3200 word, completely unprofessional, totally unhinged, verbally abusive diatribe accusing me of harassment, lying, and manipulation, among other things. He even yelled at me for tipping generously, which was a first for me. Still am, if I'm being honest. I haven't been spoken to in that way in a very long time. Even if I was being a huge jerk, no one deserves to be treated that way, especially in a business transaction. Keep in mind that I don't know this person hardly at all, and my only interaction with him was via a handful of texts. I'm pretty sure he hasn't read my response to his rant because he would've seen the screenshot of a text conversation I had with one of his cleaners clarifying that the house was mostly clean if but a little dusty, and that I was looking for more of a regular cleaning with baseboard and cabinet wipedown and spot cleaning of any marks on the wall. He would also have seen my note about how the bathroom and tub he claims in his responses to have taken so much extra time to clean, had been recently remodeled. We removed the tub to put in a bench for an accessible shower. The shower glass hasn't been installed yet, and the contractors had cleaned the whole bathroom top to bottom after they finished the tile a few days before trash friends came to clean. It was actually the cleanest room in the house. Additionally, I live in Chicago where every single family home I've ever been in has a basement, and if that was of concern should have been asked in the intake form. Also our "laundry room" is a modified closet with a stacked washer and dryer with a utility sink beside it. Robbie, who is a very lovely person btw, put together the tv stand much in the same way I would have - where you read the instructions, assemble something, get to the next step and realize you did something wrong, re read the instructions, have an ah-ha moment, unscrew what you previously screwed together, and put it together the right way. Rinse and repeat until you're finished assembling the furniture. This is why I hired a professional to put it together. In the past I've used well-reviewed task rabbit people for furniture assembly, and they've always been able to assemble furniture really quickly and without having to undo/redo work. When I realized we were going to also go well over time for the furniture assembly, I asked Robbie to finish up the tv stand because I wasn't sure how long the end tables would take, and I didn't want to pay for more extra time. TLDR; the cleaners were all very nice and accomplished most of what I asked them to do, even though it took much longer than expected. I paid the full balance and tipped. Another amazing service! I needed my house cleaned before surgery so that I could recover in a clean, welcoming space. With my depression, that just seems so impossible sometimes. But with paranoia, it can also be hard to invite someone into that space. I could not be happier with this company. Trash helped me for 2 hours and I realized how long it takes to truly declutter. We got my whole back porch organized. I felt like a new person! I then spent hours on my own organizing this weekend. Trash's education about my habits such as churning (or moving things around rather than getting rid of them or putting them away), my tendency to hold onto things I do not need but think I "might" need, my tendency to keep several of the same object (such as screwdrivers), and my emotional attachment to things that make me feel bad were all factors in my inability to keep my place uncluttered, as I'd like it. I have been working with Trash Friends for over two years. I get monthly cleaning services for my condo, generally the standard things like cleaning the kitchen, bathroom, floors, dusting, and tidying up. I've also on occasion requested deeper cleaning services like inside the kitchen appliances, interior windows, baseboards etc. And on my most recent appointment I had hurt my back and asked for help with switching over my laundry and changing the sheets on the bed. Joy was great in helping me get some things out of the apartment. Unfortunately quite a bit of those things were left on my back porch as the company was supposed to come pick them up, the owner came by himself, took a few trips to take some things down, then said he would come back with more people another day. A month went by with no word from the company so I reached out. Almost 24 hours went by with no response so I sent another message. Someone replied saying there was a problem with the pallets, they would let me know when we could schedule the rest of the pickup. Then I got a notification of a refund (of the deposit for the dumping service) stating they couldn't pick up some pallets of milk that they were supposed to be taking (neglecting the fact that there was a whole mattress and other things that were supposed to be picked up), and they suggested I call 1-800-JUNK, which means I have to go and pay someone else to remove what was supposed to have been removed on top of what I already paid them. read more
