Came here for the first time in an escape room with my team for a work event. Clean, friendly staff, and awesome puzzles. We tried the room that has you trying to find clues to help you travel back in time. It was really hard and unfortunately we couldn't solve the final clues. Nevertheless we still had a great time and I am now in search of an escape room near my home so that I can take my friends and family. Worth it and next time I'm in town, I want to visit again! read more

Such a great time at this Escape Room! I went with two of my best friends and we did "Abducted: Escape from the Madman". This is where you are abducted and you wake up in a stranger's closet, which you have to escape from! I thought the storyline was awesome and our Puzzle Master (not sure that is the correct name but the person that gives you clues when you are stuck!) was great. She knew exactly when to give us clues especially when we were so close to finding the answer. I thought this multi-room escape room was awesome and challenging. We managed to get out with 2 minutes to spare and will definitely check out some of their other Escape Rooms if I am ever back in the area. Also, the place is a little tricky to find as its in an industrial area so just keep circling and you will find it! read more

My friends and I visited Trap't almost a year and a half ago and at the time we were fairly new to Escape Rooms only having done a handful. Even though it's been over a year, we STILL talk about how fun it was! We drove an hour there and back 3 times to do all 3 of their rooms! If you do the rooms in order of the way Stuart (the owner/designer) designed and built them, you DEFINITELY notice the hard work he puts into these rooms to upgrade them to make your experience more enjoyable and challenging. Their most newly added room Time Chasers blew our minds! The amount of work and detail put into this room was definitely noticeable! What we really love about Trap't is the rooms were challenging but not impossible. Jill (Stuart's wife/co-owner I believe) is our favorite game master, we got her for at least 2 of our 3 rooms and she's so sweet and helped us succeed in escaping the rooms! Unlike other Escape Rooms my friends and I have played, she wanted us to escape and gave us hints when we struggled to help us. We loved Trap't and have been checking periodically for Tremors on the Tracks to open! Trap't really helped us fall in love with Escape Rooms. So I have been to over a dozen escape rooms, and was super excited to go to Trap't in Stamford, as I saw the online accolades. But to be honest, I was surprisingly disappointed. It wasn't the staff, they were good, just the room wasn't good. Poorly designed, weak decor, weak playability. It was the worst I have played, with the exception of a poor mall version that should not be designated as an escape room. We did the Madman room. There were 10 people, us 2, and a group of 8 people. A good designed room in my opinion engages the full group whatever the size. Throughout the whole hour, over half the people sat around and watched, as the puzzles were one to two people, and linear. This room should max out to 6 people, tough with 8, but by them booking 10, it appears to be a money play. I like challenging puzzles. Without giving away anything specific that would ruin another experience, These puzzles most made little congruous sense.. like no way anyone would connect the dots they were trying to connect to solve use that item here. When we solved the room, the person came in and said we used 7 clues which was good, that most people use 10 clues or more... I'm sure we used more than 7 as every clue had to ask for more clarification multiple times.. But there weren't too many puzzles, so basically virtually every puzzle needed clarifying, whats the point? I'm pretty good at escape rooms, and have done many hard ones. None or few of the hinted puzzles I said, wow, thats cool, I should've got that. Every clued puzzle I stopped and said, "really, cmon..." Re: Decor, very basic props, low budget, hand made. I dont usually penalize a place for low decor, though appreciate technology and whistles and bells. Again, without giving up too much, didn't stop ever and say, wow, this room looks so cool. There was a cool element in last room, but wont give that away, but that was about it, and certainly not worth going just to see. Re: Escape, we were given some extra time at the end because gamemaster said we spent too much time in room 1 which was true. But I really wasnt excited when we escaped... super anticlimactic, when usually its a high. Just no feeling of accomplishment for completign the series of puzzles. Staff: People were really nice. Have never been to an escape room without a good staff. But that was good to see Rooms: They say right at beginning there are multiple rooms. I love secret chambers and excitement of areas opening. But you do see all the doors, so nothing too secret in this one. Was really excited to try another one from TRAPt though not sure I will as seem like similar designs being designed by the owner per staff member. I have tried in Stamford Deadlock'd and Escape New haven which I thought has a much smoother game mechanics and playability fun factor. read more

My husband and I did the "Escape the Lost Pyramid" VR escape room. We've done lots of escape rooms, but this was our first VR room. Overall, we found it very disappointing. Honestly, part of the issue was it being marketed as an escape room. I expected/hoped for fun, challenging puzzles. Instead it was a series of "find the object, pick up the object, put the object in a place", "pull a lever", and "do virtual monkey bars". The VR was kind of neat, but got old fast. On top of being underwhelming, the system kept glitching. It "froze" once requiring a reboot and I got temporary blue screen 2 or 3 times (so much for immersion...). I also had the system shutoff completely because the battery pack came loose. Each time the staff member running the room came in and fixed it, but it took several minutes (and there was no acknowledgedment that he had heard me say something was wrong which left me flailing around asking for help). Finally, the staff member didn't apologize for the technical glitches (at the time or afterwards) and didn't ask us if we enjoyed the experience, but rather just walked us to the lockers to retrieve our things. Not a huge deal, but I've never done an escape room that didn't have at least a brief "wrap-up", which made the ending feel rather abrupt. Overall, really wish we'd saved the money and just tried a traditional room (since they seem to be have good reviews). Hopefully this review will save someone else from making the same mistake we did. read more

I've been to a good amount of escape rooms in NYC and London and this one was hands down the best. The place itself is immaculate and highly professional. The woman who helped us make our appointment, Jill, was literally the kindest most accommodating owner of all time! We did the time travel one which lived up to it's challenging level, but in the best way. Can't wait to come back to do the others, especially virtual reality. Thanks again Jill!! read more

Review for Time Chasers room, played 2/18/18 - Out of the 50+ escape rooms we have done, this is definitely one of our favorites. Great puzzles, interesting premise, and really fun settings. This is definitely a challenging room for smaller/inexperienced groups, but the gamemaster was great about providing hints at the right times. I booked my company's holiday party with trap't. Jill (the owner) was very easy to work with and willing to accommodate to our needs. With the large party, we were able to have exclusive use of the 3 rooms inside facility. The idea is trap't is exhilarating and a breath of fresh air in today's times. We are so fixated on technology and tools that make life easier, we sometimes forget to take a break from our cell phones and computers. All the rooms are very unique, as they are created from scratch and the brilliant brain of Jill's husband. It is definitely a challenge for all ages and really pushes your skills! Highly recommend for anyone looking for something "different" to do in the area! read more

I'm giving 1 star due to the lack of professionalism from the staff. I came to play the games tonight and the hostess was very short and rude. He didn't want to answer any questions and just wanted to say his speech and leave. He gave us wrong instruction on how to navigate the room and for thAt reason, we struggled and was unable to finish the room.I've been to many escape the rooms and this has been my worst experience. read more

SO MUCH FUN! LOVED every minute of this place. Last weekend we did "Abducted: Escape from the Madman". We had so much fun we decided to go again this weekend and do their "Museum Mayhem" room. We are already counting down the days to their new room "Time Chasers". We came with a group of friends both times and could not stop laughing from beginning to end, we were just having so much fun. The puzzles are challenging and make you THINK outside the box! Also, unlike any other "escape room", trap't has multiple rooms per game that you must escape from. So you're not in one room for an entire hour, you are constantly moving and thinking and having FUN. The facility is super modern, clean and easy to get to. The owners, husband and wife, are great. They are friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic. I highly recommend coming here with friends/family for an hour of absolute fun. It's an escape from reality, work, life... and you're thrown into an amazing adventure. GO, GO, GO! You will be SO glad you did! read more

My daughter brought a group of friends here for her 12th birthday. Myself and 7 girls went in to the room. We did the Time Chasers room. I was a bit concerned that even with the promised hints, we'd be stuck in the main room for most of the hour given the girls were young and inexperienced at such games. However, Julia, our Game Master, was excellent at reading the room and providing hints when either clearly needed, or when we asked for them. That she remains unseen and heard, with the hints showing up on the tv screen in the room, leaves the group feeling like they are working through the challenge mostly unaided. Time Chasers had us in multiple rooms, so even if you have a group that moves faster than we did, you won't get bored. The hour time limit flies by. We also reserved the conference room for an hour after our experience, so we could fulfill the "party" feel, and ordered pizza to be delivered from Planet Pizza. They gave access to their fridge during the event. The conference room was perfect, with a wall of windows, so nicer than you'd expect. I look forward to bringing my family back when we gather for special occasions in the future. This is way more fun that going to a movie, and you come out feeling like you've done something *together*. Jill was busy getting others set up when we departed, but she followed up by email soon after. She was appreciative of our business, that I tidied up after our party in the conference room, and that I tipped Julia. Nice to be recognized for having chosen to visit! read more

We just completed our 3rd room at Trap't. What's unique about Trap't is that it's obvious that these are no cookie cutter rooms. So much goes into setting them up and making it a challenging, yet fun, experience for all players. We were a group of teens and adults and found "Time Chasers" to be awesome (could be difficult if you are a first-time player). All rooms are really unique and the staff is great in "guiding" you through them if you are stuck...or just need a little help. Each room is very different. If you're unsure about what's best for your group, give them a call and then go for it. Great family outing, ladies/guys night out, birthday party or special event location. To begin, when we got there the lady seemed very frazzled, not complaining about that because everyone has busy days but we were very confused on where to sit, what to do, etc. When we got into the room, she explained the rules, everything was ready to go and we were excited. Then, several issues to address. When we were in the room the people in the office outside were playing loud music. Its incredibly hard to do an escape room when you hear music blasting and I mean very loud. The TV in the room would go out of signal several times, so when we asked for hints we felt as though no one as watching. When the TV was working, and we would ask for a clue, she would get back to us in about 3 minutes, which is kind of long for people trying to get out. The lady in the office would pick up phone calls and talk to other people in the office because we heard it loud and clear, and so we felt aa though no one was watching us so when we needed help there was none. Now, the worst issue and the reason for the 2 stars was because-- when we did not get out in time, the lady came in to explain what we still needed to do to get out. She said "you take the purple light and flash it around find the numbers which corresponds with the chalices" so I said "ohhh okay, do you mind showing me where to flash the light?" she proceeded to show me, and she herself could not find what we had to look for. So I told her, so what did we have to find with this purple light?-- and she was like "the numbers on the ceiling" but I could tell she too couldnt find them because she was pointing to where it was suppose to be and there was clearly nothing there. So, I said, "i think the battery is running low on the flashlight." and she brushed it off and said ya probably.. For the price we had to pay to do this escape room... your one job at an escape room is to make sure everything is set up well, because there is no way we would have been able to get out of the room without the purple light. So, its like we paid for no chance of escaping anyways at the end of the day. In general, the escape room isnt decorated very well at all. Its a plain room with pictures. Ive done 20 in my lifetime, and they have all been very detailed from the decor and the small details-- this place looked thrown together. Now, if it was say $10 i would not complain, but the fact that it was $150 is a bit nuts for what it looked like. Not a great experience whatsoever. Expensive for a cheap quality room with not the best customer service & broken items in the room. Sorry. read more

I've gone to at least 10+ escape rooms in CT (South Windsor, Wethersfield, Berlin, West Hartford, and New Haven) and this one was the most unprofessional and unpleasant. The procedures in setting up the game and the help that was requested over the phone and in person felt awkward. Our group was especially disappointed with the inability to answer very direct question about the escape room. Our situation was we read a bad review on yelp that said the VR rooms were disappointing and all you did was pick up boxes and pull levers. A very different experience to a traditional escape room. So I asked, "Will the "sanctum" room be just like that review says where we just pick up boxes and pull levers." She continues to dodge the question and says it's up to us and she doesn't know which room the review was talking about so she can't say for sure." I didn't ask this? Felt like a politician's answer. Should have seen this as a red flag. Because we're paying a premium for this room of $46 per person we want to know! By the way it was keys and books that we picked up and put down. We asked if we could switch and make a decision at 9:15 (our time slot) but she said as soon as 9:15 hit then we had to commit and honor our agreement. She did allow us to switch before the time but we were on a time crunch. She also said because it took time to set it up already we couldn't switch. It's a videogame you have to just press start! Plus while in the room we had difficulties in syncing the system so where was the previous set up that took so much effort that couldn't allow us to switch? Sounds like she just wanted to lock and bind us into paying the premium! Probably the bosses wife. Better off just buying a $60 game and enjoying at home. Any other escape room would have allowed us to check it out and make us feel good about our decision and purchase. There is no cost to showing us or having us switch. Game was cool but service was super unpleasant. If you're looking to play a VR game go ahead and do this room but I'm never coming back again. read more

Our family was matched up with another family of four and it was a lot of fun! We all worked together and asked for the moderator to give us clues if we seemed stuck, this made it so fun, we solved all the puzzles with 5 minutes to spare. I would recommend highly! read more

I tried the VR Sanctum escape room with two other people and the whole VR experience and the service from the staff was very disappointing. We booked the room before we read the yelp review about the VR room and how it was mainly moving and placing objects instead of solving puzzles. So we called the place and talked to this lady to try to get a better idea of what the VR room entails. We specifically asked if this is more puzzle based like a regular escape room or if it was more of a gaming experience. The lady was very unhelpful and kept dodging our questions saying that she doesn't know what room we were asking about even though we told her the name of the room. We wanted to switch to the traditional escape room since this VR sounded very gimmicky and the fact that the lady kept dodging our questions made it even more sus. She told us we would charge us a rebooking fee if we switched and it would have come out to be the same cost. Keep in mind this VR room was $40 and there were a bunch of fees on top so it came out to be $46 per person and the regular rooms were $30. It was way too pricy for what its worth. You basically just pick things up and try to move around to different rooms. There weren't really any puzzles, you just move things around and hope for the best. We had to use hints a bunch of times because we had no idea what we were supposed to do. You end up walking around and throw things around more than anything. The graphics were pretty cool and luckily we didn't experience any glitches mentioned in the previous review. We managed to complete the escape room and when the staff came around to take off our gears, there was no check in or response from the staff to kind of wrap up the adventure. This was the most underwhelming and disappointing room. I also forgot to mention that when we got there, the same lady that we talked to on the phone told us to wait in the room and they would come and get us when they finish setting up. So we sat in the room and waited for 10 min confused why it was taking so long and then we decided to walk in the hall to ask another staff and he said he was waiting for us to come out when we were ready. Clearly that was not communicated to us correctly by that lady and that was a waste of time. Overall the VR room and interaction with that woman made this the worst escape room experience. Definitely not worth $46 to just be in a game and move objects around for 50 min. read more

We played the Abducted and Time Chaser games, and both were excellent! Really well thought out with great production value. Nice mix of puzzles and a fun challenge for our group of seasoned players. Plenty to do in both games so that nobody felt like they were on the sidelines for any more than a minute or two while a particular puzzle was being solved. We're escape room veterans of many cities, including SF, London, and Ft Lauderdale, and this one KILLS IT! We did the Time Chasers room and it's now one of our top five. Many different rooms in one escape, very "scenic" (designed to feel like you're living in the theme of the moment). Huge variety of clever clues and locks and mechanicals. It's quite challenging but we managed to do it as a team of three (:20 to spare). Co-owner Stuart/Stewart is super friendly and creative - designed some amazing puzzles. Honestly just a really disappointing escape room experience. My team has done about a dozen rooms between us and we're always looking for something different. The madman room is pretty standard in decor and there is little immersion. That means that the hour goes by tediously. The puzzles are singular so only one person can really do anything. In most cases, a disappointing escape room is still somewhat fun but what ruined the experience for my team was the attendant. We asked for a clue twice and had to wait for a really long time before getting anything. It's almost like they weren't watching us. When we did finally get clues it was more of either just giving the answer which is odd. After the game the attendant literally talked about everything but our game which felt even odder. All in all, it's one of the only places that we wouldn't be excited to return to. read more

We went to this escape room and loved it. This was a new experience for us and we were not so sure before we came. But once we started to do it, we found it was very fun and interesting. Very very fun. My group of friends had a great time, puzzles were difficult, but it challenged us. We did not finish our room within the hour however that leads me to the explanation of not giving a 5 star rating. I feel that there should be an option to private games. We felt that having two additional people we did not know changed the energy, and dynamics of group. However, it was still amazing and a great way to build team skills as well as analytical thinking. Again I would love to do this again but with a smaller group of people. I would also like an option to finish the puzzle maybe by paying an additional fee. Idk. read more

This was one of the most fun, unique experiences that my friends and I have ever had. We're a group of late twenty-somethings, so we were apprehensive about an escape room experience being kind of lame or babyish but let me tell you; this was challenging in the most amazing and entertaining way. We all really had to work together to get out of the room and there were so many components to consider every step of the way... it was very difficult! We had a lot of laughs and ended up getting out (thanks to lots of helpful hints offered from the staff). I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a new and unusual experience! This was an outing with myself, my three kids and my boyfriend for us to all get together and do something that would build our relationship. We had a blast!!!! We all worked together, sometimes branching off to figure out the clues and then come back together. The room was super fun! We laughed, helped each other and showed each other support when one of us figured out a clue. The theme of the room was interesting. It was great when a door popped open and we got to move on in the journey. The environment was clean and comfortable. My daughter has already said it is something she would like to do with her friends for her birthday. I will definitely recommend this place to friends and family for a fun outing. read more

This place was awesome. My girlfriend and I did the abduction one last weekend and I must say it was fun but not too difficult that it was impossible to solve. The clues were given to us with no issue. The place is clean and the rooms were well ventilated but I have to say if there were more than six of us it would be too crowded and uncomfortable. read more

Found Trapt on Yelp and glad we did it. Stuart the host/owner was really nice and welcoming. Awesome lobby space. It was much better than ones I've done in NYC. Went with a group of 6 on a Saturday afternoon. Love that there were different rooms unlike previous ones in a single room for an hour. Would recommend to experienced and well as novice escape room artists. A nice touch was after we escaped he brought us back through the rooms and showed us the places we struggled on and where we did well with stats on certain puzzles comparing us to other teams in the past . I was the first one I've done. Went with 3 other couple friends for my birthday. We had a 5:15 appointment and we did the Abuducted room. It was so much fun. Each of us contributed something unique and it was a really engaging experience. We ended up finishing with 9 minutes left and all of us felt giddy and amped up afterward. It felt like quite the accomplishment. We did have some hints - but our game master guideperson said we needed far fewer clues than most groups. (Yay us!) And there was a group in the other room who didn't make it out on time. (Maybe they didn't ask for enough clues?). I really loved it. I definitely want to go back and do the other room(s). And because of the timing, we easily made our 6:30 dinner reservations around the corner and missed the big rush. It made for a great night! I highly recommend! read more

This was my first time ever doing one of these and it was AMAZING!!! My group was only 4 people and we all worked together to get to the next rooms. The set up in the rooms is very elaborate and detailed but not overly done to confuse everyone. They give you hints if you need it through tv screens but if you don't they will leave you on your own to figure it out. I would definitely come back here to do the other rooms the couple who runs it are too sweet and helpful recommending other escape places in other states since we were from out of town. read more

This escape room was so much fun! We were 6 friends combined with a family of 4. We did the Abducted room and it was challenging but definitely an awesome way to spend an hour. Everyone in our group of 10 was of different ages from roughly 10 - 40 years old and we all had a blast. They mentioned that they had only been open for about a month but you couldn't tell from the overall great service and experience. We ended up escaping with about 3 minutes to spare. This one was my 4th escape room experience. I've done escape rooms in NYC and Indianapolis but this was definitely one of my favorites. Another set of friends went and solved this room a few days after I mentioned it to them and they loved it as well. I definitely plan on coming back to this place! read more

I went to trap't as part of a bachelorette party and it was definitely the most fun part of the day! There were plenty of puzzles for everyone to stress over, and although we knew it was just a game, trap't did a pretty good job setting a scary ambiance (we did the "Abducted" room!). Also from a planning perspective, trap't was very responsive in getting back to my inquiries. Thank you for hosting us, and we're glad we escaped in time! We had so much fun! Best escape room we have done yet. The hosts were just as excited to have us there as we were to be there. We were given clues, but even some of the clues were hard to decipher. However we were able to escape with a little less than 2 minutes on the clock. We loved that there were two rooms to escape from. We cannot wait to go back and escape from the murder room. read more
