Our exterior project outdoor kitchen and transformation was one of those projects where we had a general sense of what we just didn't like and what we would have liked had the prior owners used common sense. Lakshmi and her team listened to what we couldn't quite articulate and synthesized it into a plan that captured exactly what we wanted. Execution on the plan was flawlesss, and every little and big change that we made along the way was handled with ease and without taking advantage on cost -- something that is unfortunately atypical of many contractors. The project dramatically enhance the aesthetics, functionality, and ability to use our property -- we went from the ability to effectively utilize 50-60% of our outside space to the ability to utilize 80-90% of our space (the challenge was that our home is built on top of solid limestone, and that creates its own challenges). Run, don't walk, away as fast as you can. We hired this company for remodeling, and although the work itself was basically sound, I'm not sure one true word ever came out of the owner's mouth. We never got the construction schedule she promised from the beginning. She drew funds on the loan for the work done, never paid her subcontractors, and told them that we hadn't paid her. The only way we got her to pay them was by refusing to sign the paperwork to release her final payment until she did so. read more

I hired Transformations Remodeling to completely renovate my condo in the fall of 2009. Having never remodeled before, I was apprehensive about the entire process, but I was very pleased with the overall experience. The owner, Lakshmi Jackman, was easy to work with. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to have done, and she very instrumental in working with me in coming up with a plan. She was sensitive to my budget concerns as well. She was also accessible by phone or email whenever I needed to speak with her. The actual construction process went smoothly. Though it took a little longer to complete than expected (but what construction project doesn't?), there were workers at my house virtually every single day. On the rare day when someone wasn't there (only once or twice), I was given plenty of advance notice. I was initially worried that my small condo renovation might get lost in the shuffle, but I found that it stayed a priority for Transformations Remodeling until all of the work was done. All of the subcontractors who worked on my house were top-notch. They were polite and respectful of my house and always cleaned up at the end of the day. The work was beautifully done, and my very boring apartment-turned-condo is now gorgeous. I am extremely happy with the work that Transformations Remodeling did on my house. read more

Lakshmi installed a floating floor in my dance studio when I decided to expand. She gave me straight up advice about what kind of floor to put in and how I could save money by purchasing the flooring myself from a reputable floor store that had an amazing variety of wood options to choose from. She finished the floor in plenty of time for our grand reopening. I knew I could count on her because I had seen her great full build out remodeling job at another dance studio in town where I also go and guide dances. Lakshmi knows remodeling and transformation well. I plan on using her again soon. read more

We had Transformations Remodeling update our children's bathroom in 2010. We were pleased with the work completed and communication between the owner. We've had a handful of contractors over and have dealt with them raising their price well over the expected 20% of their first quote and leave the worksite filthy and with various hazards. With children and some foster children, safety and cleanliness is very important since I have random visits from caseworkers, etc. I would recommend having the subcontractor who actually did the work but can't remember his name. He was friendly, clean and came on time. In fact, after the work was completed, we had them come back to fix the wobbliness of the toilet they installed. Although we knew, the subfloor was not completely level they shimmed it and it has been fine ever since. They did not charge me for this, which was nice and expected as a professional service. (I have had contractors want to charge for fixing something they damaged or something they were supposed to fix in the first place.) I can't say they are perfect, the price was a bit much compared to other bids we received and I wish I was asked about what and how the floor transition between the bathroom and hallway were going to look and feel (I have hurt my toes on the metal transition a couple of times), but there were many times we were not home and we let the owner make that decision. So, I can't complain too much if I'm not around to answer questions. We do plan to ask for bids for future work on our old home and possibly a replacement of the metal transition. But overall we and the kids are happy about their updated bath. read more
