I went to Trans Precision for many of my cars' major maintenance needs. In my perspective I believe 100% they are far more technical and knowledgeable than technicians at some dealerships. They offer prices that sound more legitimately and reasonably correct compared to the inflated figures that dealerships imagine for miscellaneous work that needs to be done. Dilemma of why I don't trust dealerships especially (Diamond Honda at City of Industry): One day my car shook violently each time I would hit 25 - 30 mph and I could barely drive properly. I took my car in for a checkup at a local dealership, that was the biggest mistake of my life. So I got charged for a wheel alignment for about $130 + taxes and they claimed the problem is supposedly solved. A few miles down the road and the problem comes right back and that's when I knew they're just guessing the problem and not really fixing most things. They probably didn't test drive my car and see if the problem persists before handing back my keys. Should've filed a complaint through corporate, horrible procedures they practice in there. The next day I went to Trans Precision and they diagnosed the problem as a suspension related issue in a matter of minutes. They said if I haven't replaced the needed parts the tire would have rolled across the freeway. I was told it was a common issue with that particular model that I drove and 4 similar model cars that came before me had the same exact problem which definitely sped up the fix up. NEVER EVER TAKING MY CAR BACK TO A DEALERSHIP! Trans Precision could extend the life of my vehicle whereas that particular dealership sends it to the junkyard well beyond its years. read more

Been going to Trans Precision for almost 12 years now. I usually work with Steven but Michael has helped out on occasion. They are by far the best mechanics out there. -- Trustworthy - always show me the OEM parts they are using/parts they took out, issues with the parts etc... -- Good prices - of course a zillion times cheaper than a dealer -- Knowledgable - they've fixed everything from my old 1984 postal jeep to my BMW M5 over the years. Steven is very honest, he will tell me if something needs replacing or not. He usually errs on the side of "only replace what is necessary" but sometimes I push him as I don't want to have to go back two months later. I just finished an early (97k) 100k service with them on my M5 and it's running better than when I first bought it. Starts in half the time and sounds awesome with new air filter. Steven will always stay late when I was working in West LA and needed to pick me up my car after they close. Another pro of their location is the fact they are just a few blocks from the South El Monte Enterprise office. So if I need them to keep the car for more than a few days I'll get Enterprise to pick me up/drop me off. read more

I have been going to these guys for the past three years. Switching from a mechanic I have been with since 1992. Glad to make the change because my old mechanic about 1/2 mile away is starting to do lousy jobs. In the early 90', he was a one man army. This is when he was good cus he knows his sh!t. Before he opens his own shop, he used to be a mechanic in Gardena Honda. Everything started to go downhill when he grown big and hire uncertified mechanics. The worst part is that he doesn't check the work of his employees before releasing cars to his clients. I gave him a lot of customers back then. Now, none of them are going back. To me finding a trust worthy mechanic is very important, it's like handing them your wallet "here take whatever you want". I'm sure none of us want to in that situation. A honest mechanic is extremely hard to find. The best way is to test them out. Here's how I test them...before I took the car in for an oil change, I rotated the tires myself. During the oil change, I ask if the tires are need to be rotated. If they say yes, you know what to do next. Just pay for the oil change and get your a$$ out of there and don't go back. I find Trans Precision is very trust worthy. They had passed my test on the tires rotation. Not only that, they advised me no major service is needed for my wife's 07 camry V6 with 90k miles due to freeway mileage while Longo is recommending the service. Only oil change, replacing air and cabin filter are required. They had also visually inspected the water pump and drive belt. None are needed at this time. I'm sure other mechanics would recommend to change the water pump, coolant, and drive belt due to its mileage. For that I think I'm sticking with these guys for a long time. Another thing I like about these guys is that everyone in the shop knows what's being done with your car. Communications are very good between staff and management. That means your car will be inspected by management with ASE certification. I'm not affiliated with Trans Precision nor they pay me to do this. I wrote this based on my experience with them. These dudes are super cool. The ball joint on my car had broken, they're fixing the whole front axle and both ball joints for a reasonable price. They're fast and do good work, my fathers been taking his cars there for years. I had no complaints up until now. Thought they were taking great care of my car but it crapped out a month ago. The cause was they put in a cheap and incorrect size battery in my car which caused the car computer to crap out slowly. Before the car died on me, it was stalling alot. I took it here to see what's wrong and they said that my engine mount and all this other crap needed to be replaced which cost over $1000. I changed some of the suggested parts, not all but it was still stalling. Before I could bring it in for the other "necessary" repairs, it just died. I tried jumping it but it would just keep stalling. It wasn't until I took it to the dealership that I found out the battery they placed in the car was not big enough for my car, which in turn caused a variety of new problems that put me in dangerous situations on the freeway. The next time I will be coming back here will probably be with a lawyer. read more

My parents has been coming here forever! They recommended I bring my '05 Lexus IS 300 for services which I did. They're legit & not your typical shady ass mechanics that just want your $! My shady mechanics in Covina told me I needed all these repairs fixed which would have costed over $5k. However after bringing it here one of the twins said my car was fine & nothing major needed to be fixed! They didn't even charge me for taking a look at my car. I've been coming here since my college days and they have worked on all of my cars (Toyota, Honda, Lexus) through the years. They are quick / efficient and will take the time to explain the repair. This review is long over due. I know these guys for almost 10 years, and I am going to give a fair review. Just like a doc, lawyer and any other professionals, no one is perfect. They did screw up a few things in the past, but for the most part, they are honest, reliable, hardworking and provide affordable services. They fix basically every car in my family, Infiniti G35, Lexus IS 350, IS-F, camry, acura 3.2CL, toyota supra, toyota tacoma truck, Rav4, corolla. I first got to know them when I was much younger driving a riced up supra, with little money and I got to know this place from free advertising magazine featuring cars, modification, aftermarket parts and stuff like that. Ever since then I trusted them with my cars, my wife's, my sister's, my dad's and friends Ok so if your car is japanese, these guys can help you out for possibly everything. We have replaced transmissions here, suspension, regular maintenance etc., for 1/4 of what the dealer charge. If you want good parts you have to specify, like better oil, factory parts vs aftermarket etc. They dont really fix German or European cars, so if you have one of those you are out of luck with these guys. They can get very busy on weekends. You will end up having to wait if your job is a bit more complicated, they typically like to get the fast services out first such as oil and filter changes. Their services is affordable, and they give me a great price since I know them for a long time. They tend to charge my family a bit higher, which I dont mind at all. Since they are hardworking they deserved to get paid more. Sure, they are not as good in the small service details, such as keeping your car clean, putting seat covers or carpet covers, wearing new gloves etc., but I just clean the car after myself. To get mechanics who are very clean around your road babies, they usually charge 3-5 times more easy. If you are big into modifications, these guys are probably not it.They are very down to earth people, and do not seem to enjoy aftermarket parts and modification jobs, as those takes a lot of time and patience and also they dont want to charge you too much for it. So they tend to discourage you from doing "silly stuff" such as lowering your car, adjusting camber, putting spoilers or any kind of mickey mouse stuff. Overall, if you need a repair, free diagnosis, honest, affordable service for your jap and american car, this is it. One thing I would not do here is the tires. They retail a brand of very affordable tires, and those tires are nothing but headaches. It's not really their fault because they dont make the tires. My sister and my father are victims to the tires they sell, which makes a lot of road noise after a year. The compound is just not very good. Do you research on the make and model before buying tires, do not pick up unknown brand ones from them just because it's incredibly cheap. Also, if you have noise problems in the car, they tend to tell you that it's because of the suspension, which is a big expense. We are talking about tires, shocks, springs, which is all very labor intensive. Those dont wear out as much as you would think, so I would have 2nd opinions. In my experience, if you stay off these two areas, you wont get ripped off bad. Sometimes they get impatient, but that's because they are incredibly busy and I understand as a business owner myself. So you might have to bear with them sometimes when they seem a bit distracted and in a hurry to send you on your way. You can still feel they are very apologetic about it though, and that's what I still like about them unlike other snobbish shop owners.
