I took my Cadillac Deville to them with a leak after having it at a neighborhood shop. Trans O Matic told me that there were a couple of loose bots on the transmission pan. They tightened them up, & didn't even charge me! NOw, THAT is honesty of the highest degree! They could very easily have sold me a new transmission (& I would have bought it!). These people treated me like family and took care of my truck and also allowed me some time to get the money to pay the bill. Along with my transmission being rebuilt they also spotted a problem in my steering column when they were shifting gears they also fixed that without exceeding the quoted price! I went to Transomatic based on a recommendation from Sears Auto Care and the mostly favorable yelp reviews. The transmission for my 2002 Honda Accord was showing the very first signs of slipping and I was fearing the worst - that my transmission would have to be rebuilt. Research on the internet showed horror stories of such a job costing between 3,000 and 4,000. After dropping off my car, the staff at Transomatic couldn't replicate the behavior. We agreed to have them change the transmission fluid and check/clean the solenoid and that I would keep an eye out for any signs of slippage. Four weeks later and my transmission is still running well. I'm generally mistrustful of auto mechanics having received thousands of dollars in "suggested" work from other shops. Dealing with Transomatic has been a pleasant experience. They kept the cost of the job ($150) to a minimum when the opportunity for an upsell was available. Also, the quote I was given if my transmission had to be rebuilt would have been $1,500 - one half of what I was expecting. If my transmission ever goes out, I will definitely take my business to Transomatic because of the competitive pricing and integrity with which they run their business. read more

This has been one of the worst experiences as a customer of my life! I took my Honda to this place in August of 2006, and it is now May of 2007. The same problem is still there AND now a new one. I've gone back 5 times (yes, 5) and although they've given me a loaner (which was also rather scary verhicle), their work is terrible! And they're giving me the run around. The manager has a great energy and was very friendly, they checked my car out and gave me a diagnosis, took time explain to me instead of trying to sell me service in hurry like other auto shop I have been. I would not recommend Transomatic to anyone. i brought my truck to them they put a brand new transmission i thought they did a great job, then the transmission started to leek all over my garage floor. I brought it back to them a total of 3 times they they said there was nothing wrong everything was just fine no problems. one would think if there is transmission fluid on my garage floor there is a problem, but they say no. So i was driving on the expressway and i look in mirror and see smoke coming from my truck the transmission lines broke, had to be towed. now Transomatic says there not responsible for transmission lines that should have been replaced at the time of the repair.They say that they looked fine at the time of the repair,but the vehicle is 15 years old. You would think after bring the truck in 3 times for transmission oil all over the floor that they would recommend replacing the transmission lines. They say its your problem i would have replaced the lines at the time of the repair i thought i was getting a complete job only to break down and have to be towed read more

We have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata that was intermittently getting stuck in second gear (limp mode) with no codes coming up on the scanner. Hyundai dealer's diagnosis was that we needed a new transmission at $4,000.00. We brought the car to Trans-O-Matic and Dean and his staff spent nine days trying to find out why no codes were coming up on the scanner. Their perseverance payed off. They found a broken wire inside of a plug leading to the transmission saving me the $4,000.00. They could have given up early on and replaced the trans but they didn't. My car's transmission was actually very funky. I took it to the dealer and they told me i needed a whole new trans and it would cost me $1,500 and two weeks without my car. I took it to Transomatic and for 10% of the dealer's quote, they found that I only needed a new sensor. I saved huge cash and gained a lot of respect for these guys. read more

Within the last 8 months I felt my car slipping, to me it felt like the transmission, so I took it to a local shop. They told me it was the transmission but they did not do that kind of work. Well, I know of Trans-O-Matic from the neighborhood so I took it there. They were not able to "get a reading" on it so they told me there was nothing wrong with it. If they drove the car, they would have felt the problem. Anyway, about a month later the engine light came on so I brought it back, hoping they would "get a reading" on it that time. They told me the car had an Engine problem, not a transmission problem, and sent me on my way. A month later an opportunity came up to buy another car so I did since I was not happy with how mine was running. So I took my car to CarMax to sell it. Turns out, I only got 1/2 of what it was worth because low and behold the only issue with the car was the Transmission was slipping. So, I guess CarMax has better mechanics than Trans-O-Matic cause they were able to explain exactly what was happening, and it was exactly the way I explained it. It is a shame because I would not have gotten rid of that car if they could just have fixed the problem. read more
