I had been taking my car around to a few different shops in the area, and wasn't really having any luck, so I was pretty exhausted by trying to explain everything, but right away, they were just like "we'll just do a full inspection of everything!" I wasn't fully confident that they'd catch much (as other shops had not been able to catch anything going on). I took the car in right as they closed on a Wednesday, and by like 10am the next morning, I was sent a link to TekMetric - an app they use to document their entire process, including photos, diagnoses, and individual notes from the tech. The total on the repairs was MUCH higher than I anticipated, and I was a bit freaked out, but when I called them, I spoke with the person who inspected my car, and we went through each item individually over the phone, and discussed what was immediate safety concerns, things I SHOULD do but could get away with, and things that are more preventative measures that will need to be addressed down the line. They were very upfront with me about the timeline, which was a very quick turnaround. I've seriously have never been so impressed with a shop before. Their labor cost per hour was a little bit higher than what I saw from other local shops, but honestly, for this level of service, and how confident I was moving forward with the work, it was worth it.

We hoped maybe they could fill it in and paint it over to at least make it look ok. Great service: they gave me an appointment time, and Derek was standing with me looking at the car within 5 minutes of my arrival. Honesty & integrity: he said "let me get the paint off to see how bad it is". He came back with a solution, rubbed the spot, and it wasn't a gouge at all. It was gone. I offered to pay him for the clean up (feeling a little silly to be honest) but he said no problem! I honestly do not understand how this business has received so many positive reviews based on my personal experience. The high ratings make me question how accurately they reflect the customer service and quality of repairs. My vehicle still has the same noise issue that I originally reported, along with several other problems that were never properly addressed. I have tried contacting Liz multiple times, but she has not responded. What is especially frustrating is that communication seemed to stop after the insurance payment was received. I trusted this business to repair my vehicle professionally, but instead, I have been left with unresolved problems and no meaningful follow-up. I cannot speak for other customers or the authenticity of their reviews, but my experience has been completely different from what the high ratings suggest. My experience at New Star was/is one B I G headache that I hope to never have again. Not only did I over pay to have my transmission replaced, but it took 3 times in and out of the shop over 2 months to get the transmission THEY put in to seemingly work properly. They did give me a 30 day warranty, but when the trans stopped working all together, within that time, they gave me a hard time about fixing their work. Now it is 3 months later and the transmission they put in is having the same problems it was when they "fixed it". I brought it to a new shop, who I highly recommend, that says the trans New Star put in may not be the right trans for my car and not only did they over charge me for the horrible work they did, they did not correctly fix the problem. This place is full of manipulators who take no accountability for the poor quality of service, parts, and customers time and money they waste. So in other words, Don't go here if you want your car to work properly and leave with your sanity and wallet fully intact. The ONLY way I will return is to get my money back. UPDATE: They did agree to fix my car after my lawyer contacted them continuously for 2 months. Works o.k. now but I doubt they were the ones that fixed it since it was driven 80+ miles in the 1.5 days they had it; probably taking it somewhere else to get it working properly since they obviously don't know what they're doing.
