I used to be a big fan of this place; they'd do a good job on all of my cars. Recently, I needed a new clutch and I ordered one for ABM to install. It's possible I was scammed. Clutch kits come with a throw-out bearing & a clutch disc. Usually the throw-out bearing should be replaced when the clutch is replaced. ABM did the clutch job and then called me to say that the t.o bearing in my kit from Sachs (well-known manufacturer) was not able to fit in my car -AFTER they replaced the clutch disc and bolted everything back together. They replaced my clutch and it cost me a pretty penny, and I left with the old t.o bearing in the car. Weeks later, the old t.o bearing started to die out. Had to buy a new t.o bearing and essentially do the entire project again, costing me the same amount. Was I conned for more $$$? Were they in a rush to get my car out? Should they have left the car sitting with the transmission open maybe for a day or two to wait for the correct t.o bearing to be delivered? - this is what a honest & good mechanic should have done. read more

ABM came to the rescue for me! I needed to have a used boat trailer I had recently bought checked over before driving it to Minnesota (600 miles!). They were so kind and accommodating! And I'm so glad for their service as they found one of the trailer hubs and bearings were going bad...never would've made the trip. Went here because through prior reviews I saw they worked on Audi's, (2015 A6) and most of the reviews were 5 stars. I'll piggyback the other reviews and say the customer service here automatically put me at ease. The auto repair business is often not this welcoming, but here they are, and the price was a third of what the dealership would have charged me. I was even brought into the garage and shown how pads and rotors wear down, what causes it, what to look for, listen for, etc. The time spent educating me built trust and I'm happy I have a local mechanic now if I need to make a quick stop to get some work done. They're awesome, support these guys, they deserve the business. They completed the job within 5 hours of drop off, and so you know, they don't take reservations. Finding a mechanic can be a daunting task. There are good ones out there but extremely hard to find. My search began because my regular mechanic retired. I had issues with my manifolds. It was a very laborious process which meant it was goind to be $$$$ I took it to one guy that quoted me and later said he couldn't fix it because he didn't have the tools. Huh? My intuition said it was too much for him to handle since he didn't have a large staff. I've gone to others where they completely rip you off and not worth mentioning. Anyway I started my review search especially in the neighborhood I live in. Took it straight to ABM. Adeel informed me that they've had worked on similar issue with my vehicle so I left it there for them to check it out. Called me back the next morning to tell me the options I had to keep my cost low along with other issues that may need attention in the future. I appreciated the no push sales approach. He was very honest and respectful and the price was fair. Went ahead with the job and they fixed the problem. I think I found my mechanic? Will try the shop again when I need future repairs and update the post with my experience. Nice that I can walk/pickup my car. Support local business too which is a plus! So far, so good! read more

Had $1000+ of work done on my 2010 Accord over the last two months here. Like the restaurants I dine at, I relied on Yelp and personal recommendations that pointed me to this shop. During my first visit, I was informed that my back brakes and rotors were shot and that the calipers were all bent up. I had been told about the calipers a year and a half ago but put off doing anything about it. I was also informed that the front brakes and rotors had about 25% life left in them but my front, left ball joint was cracking. Adeel told me the front brakes would be good for a few more months so I opted out of any front end work for my first visit. I went in for my second visit a month later and had the front end work done. I also requested an oil change and a tire rotation in addition. Adeel told me that my tire treads were fine and that he doesn't think it is time to rotate. Little things such as passing up and easy $20 for a customer's request because it wasn't actually necessary help paint a picture of my overall experience. I hope I don't have a reason to return anytime soon but I am happy to have a reliable shop down the street in case I do... EDIT 08/20/2018 Had to have my back brakes, rotors, and hoses replaced. Dropped my car off in the morning and picked it up in the afternoon. Again, great service. read more

My car broke down in the middle of a busy highway and after an ordeal to get towing, we arrive at ABM. I wasn't sure what happened to my car so I was apprehensive to let any services take place. Adeel was extremely knowledgeable and kind throughout the experience. He was quickly able to order parts for my car. To my surprise the next day he called and said my car was ready to pick up. This review has been a long time coming. I told myself I would write it after the very first visit... then the second. I am writing this after my fifth visit to ABM. I am writing after five exemplary services, spanning over the course of a year, looking after my 2004 Honda Civic Ex Sedan. So a year ago I posted in Yelp talk about the issues with my VW Beetle. I originally took it to Chicago Imports and they quoted me over $3000 to fix it all. That induced panic which led me to the fine folks of Yelp for advice. Present day, I finally had enough money to fix it so I did a lot of auto mechanic research. Along with Yelp and a friend I took her to ABM. THANK God. Adeel is completely honest and will do everything in his power to save you money. I took in the diagnostic sheet from Chicago Imports so he could get an idea of what needed fixed. He laughed and said, they were trying to rip you off. Long story short he saved me almost $2000 AND did all the work Imports quoted. I could list all the extensive work that was done but that is boring so I won't. After going to VW Forums, Yelp and other people and sites to find an honest mechanic I am so happy I took her to ABM. In February I bought a 2002 Subaru Outback wit less than 100k miles on it. I knew the head gasket on these cars eventually goes bad, but I thought it would make it to 150k miles on it before that happened. Well, it isn't the first time I was wrong. After the dealer quoted me an arm and a leg, I was seriously buggin about what to do. I couldn't afford a new car but I wanted to pay less. I found these guys on yelp and called. I told the owner what was up. He said that he normally can't quote a price over the phone, but he said that they do head gaskets on subarus so often that he knew it from memory. It was much cheaper than the dealer, which he later explained to me was due to using an aftermarket gasket set rather than buying the individual gaskets from the dealer. Cool. This is an important detail because I read that the Subaru gaskets were not designed well and would inevitably crap out again. It is actually probably much better to have an aftermarket gasket set that won't degrade, and the owner told me he hadn't had any problems with these gaskets. When I finally brought the car in, the owner showed me a picture of the gasket set he planned to order. He also told me he'd be sending the engine head to be inspected to ensure no damage was done and he'd be replacing the belts while in there, which he told me the dealer usually won't do. I felt pretty confident about leaving my car with this guy. I was very nervous about this repair so he said he'd inspect the car and give me a list of upcoming repairs so I could decide if I really wanted to go thru with this. He called me the next day with said list and recommended I only do a few of them that day, and to work on the others as needed. Very awesome. The head gasket job is a pretty big ordeal cuz they have to remove the engine so the car was supposed to be in the shop for 4 days, but they finished in 3. When I got to the shop to pick up, he showed me my old head gasket and all the old parts they'd removed during the gasket job. While I know what a head gasket looks like, I really like that the owner wanted to make sure I understood what EXACTLY they replaced. I have never had a shop do that. So I will be being my car here from now on, I have never had such a great experience. read more

I found ABM on Yelp and I am glad I did. I was excited to find my used 1999 Chrysler Sebring LXI on Craigslist at the beginning of January. I was not as pleased to find out it had a major transmission leak. Adeel knows his craft well! Adeel and his guys were great, repairing not only the leak, but the loud noises that were coming from all over my car. I dropped my car off at ABM during the Monday of my school's Spring Break and although I did not get it back immediately, Adeel was kind enough to keep me informed with each step of the way. I had shopped around a bit before settling on ABM and was quoted more than the price I was quoted at ABM. If I had to do it over again, I would still go to ABM because they have my 'lemon' driving like new again! Thank you! Updated 4/16/11 I returned to ABM to have them check out my car that was noticeably shaking while driving and even during stops. I was alarmed as I knew this was probably not a good thing. I had some time in between my activities for the day and called ABM and was told to bring it in. In less than an hour, my car was repaired and given the diagnosis of a bad cylinder in need of replacing. Once again, Adeel and his staff saved the day, and my car. Adeel at ABM seems to be the real deal. He handled my Benz, which is still under warranty, with great care and economy. ABM knows cars, and their prices are WAY better than any stealership in town. He can get as technical in the discussion of what you want done to your car as you want, or he can keep the explanation of what needs to be fixed to a more basic level easily understood by any layman. I'm coming back here for my mechanical needs, and I'm the most extraordinarily particular person I know about mechanical work. Kedzie Brown line is the nearest brown line, so I'd consider a taxi if the weather isn't nice. read more

Wow..so happy I checked out Yelp and made the drive to this place. A few weeks ago a noticed my Ford Focus was hesitating and not firing when while the car was a stopped and sometimes when accelerating. I took it to my guy in my neighborhood for a oil change and checkup. Told him about the issue and he couldnt figure it out. I left the car with him the whole day and none of his technicians could figure out the problem. The concluded it must be a transmission problem. That's when I took to Yelp and went to see Adeel. He figured immediately that I didnt have a transmission problem and 10 mins later realized that some part had a crack in it and needed to be replaced. An hour and a half later car FIXED....He even told me about a couple of parts that needed to be taken care of by my next oil change. And got the 10% Yelp discount. Looking for a place in our new neighborhood, I took our Subaru in for tune up and oil change - I used the Yelp coupon, impressed by all the great reviews. Some other minor repairs were diagnosed and taken care of. Others were honestly diagnosed as not pressing and given a time frame to address later, which was appreciated. We had some strong oil smell burning off the engine in days following, left I imagine from some minor spill, but not a big deal. Price was a little high compared to last few tune ups ($300), but those were not in Chicago. I think the price was fair, and certainly cheaper than a dealership. My impression is that they are very honest and professional. I will certainly use them again. read more

Brought in my ford focus for new break pads and rotors (and an oil change). Adeel was super straightforward with me about what my car needed, and what it would cost, while giving me options at the same time. After a couple of drives with my new brakes, I noticed a smell coming from the left brake. I called him and he knew exactly what it was (caliper was seizing) and told me to bring it in that day. He replaced my caliper (not even a part I originally paid for), rotor, and brake, all at no cost and all ready the next day. Great service, and everyone there is super friendly! Thanks guys!
