King transmission is horribl. after getting new trans I've had more problems then befor. the truck cont to jerk hard into gears. i keep getting it's the wires or it's the compute? after I had it ch at 2 other transmissions shop both said it was a issue insif transmission that should I been replaced when trans was Rebuilt and they would need to remove transmission to fix issu? Again King transmission continues to say something else? After they Supposedly replaced ground wire and then returned to another tran shop for them to say nothing looks new wire wise??? You've been warned they will scam you somehow. Wonder why they are so much cheaper then other trans shops? Cause they're only Replacing what they see and not all parts that should be changed with rebuild. The other 2 transmission shop also didn't have much to say about them but they get a lot of there go-backs? read more

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. No. Just, no. The check engine light came on in my car. My regular mechanic told me to come here as the code was a transmission related one. Trekked out, dropped off the car. A few days later, I get a call that says my car is ready. Turns out a sensor in the transmission went bad, they replaced it, all is well. Or not. A few days later, the check engine light returns, as does the same problem I was having before. I call them back, thinking maybe something just need to be adjusted. They claim they can't do anything else without cracking open my transmission to the tune of, well, lots of $$$. Yeah, no. I took the car elsewhere, and the new joint told me that the same sensor code had returned. It looked like the sensor had not been changed recently. They even showed it to me - it had a layer of grime and dirt on it that didn't suggest a recent switch. (And, to add insult to injury, the sensor replacement at the new joint was way less than at King - King charged me $200, I paid $130 at the new joint.) I'm glad I got a second opinion - I saved myself lots of cash. I don't know what happened here, but something doesn't smell right. I'd look elsewhere for transmission work. read more

I was vacationing in Chicago, IL and had driven my 2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi (Supercharged) down from Duluth, MN. Suddenly when driving on the freeway, my car lost power and the transmission began slipping. I only had limited drive in 2nd and 1st gear. So, I limped the car off the nearest exit ramp. To my amazement and surprise, there was Kings Transmission just a couple blocks down the road. I pulled the vehicle into their lot and walked in. The owner understood my predicament and said he'd get the car in right away for repair. They had a rebuilt 4T65E in stock and installed it within 24 hours. I was on the road and headed back to MN for less than $1500. Unfortunately, just 5 months later, the transmission failed while I was driving in Duluth, MN. I called Ken and told him what happened and he instructed me to bring the car to a local transmission shop and he would arrange to send a new transmission up and pay for the replacement including labor. The transmission arrived in 2 days and I was back on the road in 3 days. NOW THAT IS SERVICE! A++++++ Thank you everyone at King's Transmission. read more

Went here based on a recommendation and called ahead to ensure they would have time to work on my car. December 30th: Told them I had to move to California for a job that started January 15th and I had to leave January 8th no ifs, ands, or buts. Dropped my car off and they got right to work on it. Told me my rear differential was shredded and I would need a whole new one. They had it ordered and would have it on January 3rd. So far, so good. Also, asked them to change the oil while it was in there as I was about due and going to be driving 2200 miles in a week and a half. January 3rd: Part wasn't on. Will have it done Monday January 6th no problem. Fine, still needed to load up my car and would have to hustle to get out on time, but I can deal with that. January 6th: As they were putting the part on, they realized it was completely the wrong part. Apologized and said they had found another one, ordered it and would be there Wednesday (the day I had to leave), they would put it on as soon as it got there and I could be on my way. Now I get a little agitated January 8th: Part never shows. Call them and they say it was ordered today and would be here Friday after they told me it was ordered Monday the 6th. Now my departure for my brand new job across the country is delayed. January 10th: The second differential is scheduled to arrive today. I call them mid-afternoon and they "still don't have the part." Closing time approaches and I had not heard anything. I call back and they say it never showed up. I called the owner at his other location, he tells me they got it, but it was the wrong part again. I have now been lied to twice, am still carless, and my start date of the 15th is near impossible. January 13th: The correct part finally arrives. I go to the shop to get my car and pay the 1,500 dollars with no discount for inconvenience. Barely got an apology upon arriving. I notice the oil change sticker had not been changed, so I asked about it. They forgot to change it and ask if I can wait a couple minutes while they do it. Sure, I've already waited two weeks, what's another 20 minutes. Of course they are out of the oil I need, so they have to get some and 20 minutes turned into 45. January 16th: I leave a day after I was supposed to start my new job missing out on a week's pay in the process. I get about 60 miles outside of Chicago and I hear something come loose under my car on the expressway. I pulled over, looked, and everything appeared to be okay. About 10 miles farther, a large chunk of plastic flies off my car and sails off behind me. I pulled off and went to an oil change place. A chunk of my skid plate flew off because it was not properly secured back on after getting my oil changed. Awful communication and awful customer service makes me wonder how this company has been in business for close to 60 years. Needless to say, I will never be going back to King Transmission read more

My mechanics sent me here since my car was shifting a bit hard between gears, and they wanted a specialist outfit to look at it. King Transmission was great! They did the following: - Saw me immediately. - Asked good questions. - Drove it themselves to see firsthand. - Explained their advice. - Advised that they thought it was shifting fine for the age/mileage of the car, and that I should spend no money but just keep an eye on it! - Charged zero! Great transmission shop! My 2010 Mazda3 needed a new clutch and they were able to tow my car to their shop and the work was completed in a few days! Great communication and fair price for the work. Felt very safe in picking up my car during this global pandemic as all staff were taking safety precautions with wearing masks and social distancing as well as plexiglass when paying my bill. After replacing a radiator, I noticed that my transmission was occasionally dropping out of gear. Since I have one of those stupid sealed systems with no dipstick I had to take it in. The first shop I took it to gave me some bad news and told me it would cost me $3,000 to rebuild my transmission. I then decided to take my truck to King Transmission for a second opinion. I'm glad I did because their diagnosis was "just low fluid" and they topped it off for free + voluntary cash tip. I'm sure that's not going to be everyone's experience where the issue is so simple, but they definitely didn't try to rip me off like the other guy. read more

It is interesting that Kim had a similar problem as I did...and they definitely almost got me, just as they almost got her. This March, my check engine came on, so I took my car to Autozone. They told me that I had a celluloid problem, but knowing nothing about cars, that went over my head. I took my car to Transmission King and they told me that I had a related problem, but it was more than just the celluloid (and that it would cost $150...which wasn't too bad to me). They also said that within a week, my car would probably mess up again and that I am better off replacing the transmission at that moment. Then, I decided to call Aamco. I spoke with Aamco, and they told me that the car part/car problem that Transmission King told me about DOES'T EVEN EXIST! I ultimately decided to go to Aamco and it cost me about $200 to get my car fixed, but it was well worth it. The owner of Aamco was VERY friendly and only fixed what needed to be fixed (instead of trying to repair miscellaneous things to get a larger bill out of me). There was a guarantee on the repairs (which Transmission King did not offer), and my car has been problem free for several months now. Moral of my story...Transmission King is terrible and I am not too sure they know what they are doing. Please save yourself time and money and go elsewhere. read more

I brought my car in for them to rebuild my transmission. It took longer than told and had nothing but problems soon after! It took longer than time promised and had to borrow a car from a friend. Soon after getting it had the whole car shaking like crazy! Took it in thinking they didn't re-hook up a vacuum hose or something and they shook their heads and said oh well....took it to a mechanic and found they tore my upper motor mount when working on the trans. A few years later and my trans is back to jumping in reverse! Please take heed! Over priced...over the time told and possible damage to motor mounts! Not to mention.....trans problem soon down the road!....total rip-off! read more

I needed sensor for my transmission without even looking at my car i was quoted a price around 1395.00. I looked it up on you tube. The sensor i needed ran around 65.00, to install took less than 30min. I won't quote what i paid but way way less just say there markup King Transmission was ridiculous. They would have really got me had i fell for it. Wasn't like they had to drop my trans the replacement was under the hood. It was a P0843 sensor D light blinking, engine light was on. Bought one of those scan held machine to diagnose to find code then looked up code. My car is a Honda crv 2009. Only driver less than 85,000 miles. So i feel i know my car pretty well. read more

I had a fantastic experience with Ed and the rest of the guys at King Transmission Company. I was certain I had a transmission problem in my Toyota Rav4. I took it into King Transmission because of a friend's recommendation. Ed immediately asked me the year and mileage on my vehicle. Somehow, he knew that Toyotas from my particular year had recently had a recall due to a problem with the engine control module (ECM). Basically, a circuit problem in the ECM affects the car when it shifts. So it feels like a transmission problem, but it's not. Ed offered to take the car over to a Toyota dealer himself. He was right: the ECM did need replaced, and I was under this new extended 10-year warranty. Toyota fixed the ECM at no charge. Ed's guys picked it up, tested it again themselves, and then turned it back over to me for no charge. No charge at all! The amount of money and hassle these guys saved me is astonishing. I've never seen service like that anywhere. I can't recommend them enough. read more
