New owner Mike is working hard to lose one customer at a time. It's tough to see Frank's name being used to keep loyal customers, and then getting tricked by new ownership. Oil change with Frank, full synthetic, $75. Oil change with Mike, full synthetic but "special, better, for German cars": $113. Oh, and didn't tell me ahead he was changing over to the more expensive oil. I'll be doing my own oil changes again. Sorry Giles, you're still top notch. read more

I went in for wobbling tire while driving. Felt like my front passenger tire was going to fall off when I was braking on the expressway. They couldn't find anything wrong with it and told me to bring it back if it did it again. It did it again when I left, and I brought it back with the same issue and mentioned that it happens when the car gets hot. The manager mentioned that everything looks good and the brakes and everything looked fine. they did a tire rotation and balanced the wheels, and he mentioned I should get new tires and "see if that fixes it" and to drive it again on the expressway and "if it does anything else to bring it back." Paid $150 for this. Of course that was not what was wrong, and any good mechanic would've seen it right away that my caliper was stuck and it warped the rotor. Brought it to my trusted mechanic and he knew it immediately without even taking the tire off. So I paid $150 for an unneeded service and they probably would've kept on fixing random things until they got it right. I also need to mention the sexism I experienced here. I, a woman, went there on my own both times to drop off the vehicle and spoke to the manager. When I went to pick it up both times, I brought my boyfriend to have another driver to get both cars home. He spoke directly to my boyfriend, who knows less about cars than I do, and shook only his hand, even after I got out my credit card and paid for MY car to be fake fixed by them. Go to a mechanic that is certified. This place can only do something if there's a light on that they can plug in and get a code. read more

I've been going to Frank's Auto Repair for over 25 years. Both Giles & Frank are very courteous and clear when it comes to understanding the issues with your car and communicating what needs to be done, how long it will take, and how much you'll be spending to get your vehicle back to where you want it. Their front-end approach is exceeded only by their passion for the work done to your car...and after all, isn't that the most important thing when dealing with a repair shop! I'm not remembering exactly how I learned of Frank's Auto Repair, but I'm really glad I did. The knowledge that these guys have about automotive repair is incredible. My wife and I have gone to them with both of our cars for years now and been pleased with both the repairs and pricing. They're straight forward, so they diagnose what's needed, call to explain the problem, quote a repair price and you can decide on whether to move forward with the work. I especially appreciate that they don't stretch what needs to be done on the car(s). They fix what's needed and no up selling of other BS you don't. That alone is worth a lot. I went to Firestone Complete Auto Care for an oil change and left needing my rear brakes repaired. Firestone quoted me $785.00 for pads, calipers and discs (plus labor). I went to Frank's for a second opinion and spent $273.00 for pads and discs (plus labor). Giles informed me my calipers were working and did not need replacing. Frank's business always delivers and he backs up his work. Giles is knowledgeable and provides amazing customer service through his straight forward answers. Just moved into the area. Asked a neighbor if he knew of a good mechanic in the area. He recommended Frank's and said he's been going to him for decades. Went there today to have them take a look at brakes, malfunctioning windshield wiper pump and some mysterious new rattle. Told me my brakes were still in good working order, my windshield pump was just being temperamental and was working well and they fixed something that had come loose that was making the rattle. I asked what I owed . . . $0.00. Just come back when I want those brakes worked on. This guy is a gem! Won't go anywhere else. read more

They are the best! They worked on my car last May & did a terrific job. I came in with a list of repairs from the dealership and they basically did what "needed" to be done...only a coil pack replaced!!! They explained to me why I didn't need those recommended repairs and could have easily ripped me off, but Giles chose to be honest with me!!! And then noted his credibility of working on foreign cars as a previous mechanic for Mercedes Benz. There customer service, politeness, honesty, & knowledge has enabled me to refer many of my business clients to them when a mechanic is needed. Now, I have a similar problem plus routine maintenance occurring, there's no doubt where I'm taking my business!!! I had recommended Frank's to yet another person when it occured to me I had never posted on YELP. Unfortunately, I generally tend to do this only when I have had a bad experience. It is a running joke now in my family to say "Wait til I Yelp this s***" However that is NOT the case with Frank's. I love this place. Frank & Giles are the most honest mechanics I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. They have even fixed a few small things for no charge! Unheard of! Even if it did only take them 10 minutes to replace a bulb, I know of no other place that would send you away with a 'get out of here' wave of their hand. Awesome place! I had several warning lights on my 350z that would not shut off after it was transported from LA to Chicago. I feared for the worst. The guys at Frank's found out that it was low brake fluid and a stuck VDC button and fixed both in about 15 minutes. They then drove me around the block to make sure it was OK and then refused to charge me for the service! I will be using Frank's exclusively from this point forward! read more

If you're a female don't go here!!!! I brought my vehicle in here for repairs the mechanic found that there's a shutoff switch in my wiring. Which was a screw-up from the dealer.Instead of telling me the truth and just charging me for the hourly fee(which i would of understood)they told me i needed an ignition switch and ripped me off for $350.All they needed to do is hit the cut-off switch and the suv started. Thanks for the scamming guys.What goes around comes around! Recently i ran in to them at abar i was working at and i wanted to say something but my boss at the time would off been really upset so i never let them know that i knew they ripped me off. And actually had the nerve to say they remembered my vehicle. It was really hard to not go off the deep end but i think you guys are abunch of ripoff scammers!!!! So ladies stay away!!!!! read more

This has got to be the worst experience I have ever had from a mechanic. The owner is a family friend of my husband's for over 30 years and has an employee there that blamed my husband for not knowing the year of our own car because of the information he misheard. Even if that false statement were true, someone who works on cars for a living should know how to validate the year of a car he's handling in that moment and always make sure the info he's given is correct. and after paying a pretty penny in repairs He went balistic on me over the phone when I asked him questions about my car. He accused my husband of making the mistake about the year of my car. They didnt even make my model car in 1999. My husband told him it was an 09 which it is... then he made false accusations upon my husbands character insinuating my husband is a liar. What an explosive temper on this person. Any time I met the owner he seemed to be very nice, but this other guy has a temper out of this world. No customer that stays loyal to a company for that many years should ever be spoken to the way my husband and his father and myself were spoken to. And unfortunately we all were spoken to with the utmost disrespect. The customer service is downright awful. read more
