My appointment started nearly 20 minutes late. When we went in for the body polish the table was dirty and had to be reset, and the service wasn't explained beforehand, which was uncomfortable going in blind as a first-time client. She also had me touch the tan on my body during the service, which you should never do, and it left spray tan all over my palms. I did not have my palms or nails wiped off at the end either. When I brought it her attention upon leaving (as well as other white spots all over my hands) she sprayed more, which I think ended up making it worse. She tried wiping off my palms at that point, but they were already stained. I paid over $80 total -- which is higher than other studios in Scottsdale, and I have never had a bad experience anywhere else. I still left orange and splotchy with the polish and primer add-ons -- photos attached. The girl who did my tan was nice, but maybe less experienced and appeared to be managing the whole studio on her own. When I reached out, the response was "sorry that you were unhappy with your service" -- but this wasn't about being unhappy, it was a service that wasn't done correctly. It feels like I'm being treated like I did something wrong. I was told I needed to come back in for them to review what happened, which would have required me to leave work early, and that since I hadn't done that I wasn't eligible for a refund. They did offer a free tan as a "gesture of goodwill", but I don't have confidence anything would be different next time. When a tan is orange and patchy, the only solution is to remove it and redo once the old tan is gone -- not go back for more. I'll be trying somewhere else. I ended up having to buy tan remover, a remover mitt and went in the pool several times to try to remove the solution and it's still stuck on there over a week later. I wanted to love this place as it's close to home. I hope they use this feedback to improve the new client experience. If someone turns down a free service, that might be worth reflecting on.

I've had both gel manicures and pedicures here and have always been very pleased with the quality of the services. This is a husband-and-wife-owned business, and they are both so nice, personable, and welcoming. One of the things I love most is that it's just the two of them providing services. There aren't a bunch of technicians or a constant stream of people coming and going. The salon is peaceful, quiet, and relaxing, which makes getting a manicure or pedicure feel like an enjoyable break rather than being in a hectic, noisy salon. I also appreciate seeing the American spirit alive and well. The owner is comfortable displaying his personal political preferences in his own business, and I respect his right to do that. You may or may not agree with his views, but I appreciate living in a country where a small-business owner can express his beliefs without having to hide them--and still provide a welcoming and respectful environment to his customers. I also want to mention the salon's cash-or-check-only policy, because I think it's important to be fair about this. They are upfront with new customers about the policy when appointments are made, and there is also a clearly posted sign in the salon. There's no attempt to surprise anyone. Personally, I actually appreciate it. By not accepting credit cards, they avoid the credit card processing fees that businesses are charged and can keep their prices reasonable instead of passing those costs on to customers through higher prices or additional fees. I'm always happy to support a small, independently owned business, especially one where you receive personal attention and consistently good service.
