I've had them bookmarked for a while to try the hubs & I got our chance Friday night very cute establishment and it wasn't too crowded for a Fri the service was top tier the server was very friendly and patient with us we told her this was our first visit I appreciate her explaining the menu thoroughly the way she broke everything was awesome I was getting overwhelmed there's so much to choose from but she was so sweet and friendly the entire staff was they asked how everything was very attentive now the food lawd have mercy we built our own nachos and chose steak as our protein it was absolutely delicious tender steak and all the sauces were homemade fresh queso and pico we also tried the fried chicken tacos which are not featured on the menu deeeelish...they came with a homemade cilantro ranch we also had a couple of house margaritas...outstanding!! I had been wanting to give it a try since I heard they had opened. We decided to make the journey for a belated Valentine's dinner. The line really didn't seem long enough for the wait to order but that could have been a customer causing the delay. When they are busy it would be helpful to have more than one person taking orders. We had hoped to find some seating on the patio since it was such a pleasant evening but most everyone else had the same idea and there was not any available tables. Once we ordered it did not take long for our chips and queso to arrive followed soon after by our entrees. They actually offered us a second tray of queso & chips due to an order mix up (we think it was actually supposed to go to a nearby table). The El Matador Margarita (premium white tequila, Patron Citronage & pineapple juice) was good and could have easily been happy with another or even a pitcher. I opted for the Guacin' on Sunshine (shrimp, black beans, pineapple pico, cilantro ranch & guac)) & Tan Lines (mahi, pineapple pico, cilantro, ranch & fresco cheese) tacos and my wife chose the Reef 'n Beef bowl (steak, shrimp, tomatoes, rice, black beans, roasted corn, onions & cilantro ranch). Laid back Tex Mex with a festive atmosphere! My boyfriend and I both ordered the build your own bowls and enjoyed them! You're allotted 8 toppings in the bowl, a dressing, and a side of chips and salsa. The food here is very similar to Condado Tacos or Taco Mama. Our order came out very quickly and was a healthy serving. I wouldn't necessarily make a special trip out here, especially considering Taco Mama is much closer. My first visit was today for lunch and the experience was great. Friendly staff who were very helpful, excellent food and good prices. I went with the Rednexican steak bowl. Trampled by Tacos took the space on Hwy. 280 that was occupied previously by Little Donkey. I was expecting something similar when we decided to try it, which was probably unfair to them. It's a TOTALLY different concept. It's fast-casual Mexican food. You basically can build your own bowl, taco or burrito or choose from a variety of tacos on the menu. Stand in line, order at the register, make yourself a drink, and find a seat. It's basically a glorified Chipotle, just WAY more expensive. Our bill at Chipotle is usually around $50 for my kids and me. At Trampled By Tacos, with an 18% tip (for what?) the bill was $90! Were our tacos elevated enough to justify almost double the price of Chipotle? In a word: no. Steak tacos with peppers and onions were funky and the peppers were bitter (not fresh), the mahi taco was dry (okay, the fish was dry- it was smothered in sauce and cheese to make up for the fish), and the chicken in my daughter's build-your-own bowl was dry and grainy. Went to Trampled Tacos for their happy hour which is M-F between 4-6 PM. They offer $2 off house margaritas, well drinks, drafts, and wine. I went with the house margarita. It was decent--not amazing, but good for the price. My friend and I shared the steak quesadilla and it was really tasty. 9/10 We sat out on their patio area, which had a chill vibe and low music playing in the background. Only thing I'd change is the playlist. I wish the music had a bit more variety. You have to go to the bar or register to place your order, and the bar only had one person working. We ate here for the first time today. We ordered tacos, a burrito, and a kid's quesadilla, as well as a chip and dip trio. The Pick Three Amigos were brought out to us first--chips with salsa, guac, and queso. We had no complaints with any of the dips. Salsa was a typical restaurant-style salsa, mild but decent flavor. Guac was good and fresh. And who can complain about queso? The portion size was great for sharing among 4-6 people as an appetizer, and at $9 it seemed well-priced to me. The tacos were overall quite tasty. The John The Baptist (al pastor pork) was my favorite, with flavorful meat and well-balanced toppings. The Low Rider (chicken) was decent, but somewhat overwhelmed by black beans. The Queso Explosivo (ground beef) was a bit too salty, but had a nice kick from the jalapeños. I unfortunately did not think to take pictures, but the presentation of the three tacos was very appetizing. My husband ate The Barracuda burrito (Mahi) and quite enjoyed it. He liked the flavor combination of the Mahi and toppings, with his only complaint being that he wished there was just a little more Mahi. Our toddler loved the kid's quesadilla. I felt it was a good value at $6, as it includes chips and a drink in addition to the quesadilla, which comes with your choice of chicken, steak, ground beef, or cheese only. We had it with chicken and I tasted a bite; it was well-filled and had good flavor. The restaurant is fast-casual--order at the counter and food is delivered to your table. There is a covered patio that had a really nice ambiance. The bar was busy. Service was prompt and friendly. Restaurant was clean. Both the men's and women's restrooms had a baby-changing table (bonus points!). High chairs are available but some were not in the best shape (which was surprising given how new this restaurant is). Overall, I would certainly dine here again. My wife and I frequented the Little Donkey restaurant that was previously located in this space. So we were optimistic about this new taco place. First dinner here was surprisingly bad and unfortunately, I doubt we will return. The new place is Trampled by Tacos and its catch phrase is "Be Part of the Herd." This slogan does not really make sense - be part of a herd of tacos? Be a taco? Maybe the slogan should be "Embrace the Herd" instead. Inside the space has been reimagined. The new layout is a downgrade in most respects. They took a nice somewhat upscale Mexican restaurant and made it cheap and tacky. The furniture has kind of a fast food comfort level, flimsy and unsupportive- it's not the type of furniture you want to sit in for a very long. They added some tacky low brow artwork. I will say that the outdoor patio seems pretty nice and there are a lot of TVs in the space so it might be a decent location to briefly watch a football game (but why would you come here instead of a sports bar?). Ordering food has been reimagined too. Now you get to stand in 2 lines instead of one. One line is for ordering food, and a separate line for draft beer at the bar. Now, how about the food? Unfortunately, everything we tried was simply not very good. Mediocre ingredients prepared with little attention to detail. Our chips seemed to be stale and frankly were not as flavorful as what we could purchase at a grocery store. Queso dip and salsa seemed to be out of a can or jar. Just not very fresh or good. Again, we could buy better at the grocery store. But how about those tacos? We ordered corn tortillas, but I think we were served flour tortillas. Mine were cold. I had the ground beef tacos with queso and jalapeños. The (wrong) tortillas were nothing special and tasted like something we might get at the grocery store. The ground beef quality was comparable to Taco Bell. My wife's steak taco was inedible; her carnitas taco contained some quality carnitas meat (the "highlight" of the culinary experience. How about the bar? The overhead lighting at night near the bar is harsh and unpleasant. Seating is uncomfortable. The bar itself seems to be a downgrade from Little Donkey in terms of materials. At the bar, I ordered a glass of draft Good People IPA. I was served a random beer that was definitely not IPA. It tasted like Miller Lite or something similar. When I notified them of the issue, they substituted a different canned beer instead, but unfortunately they had no IPA in the restaurant. So I got to enjoy the wrong beer to go along with my wrong tacos. I don't really understand this sort of business. If you do one thing - TACOS - and you have "tacos" in your restaurant name, you need to serve with pride a damn good taco. But I left literally thinking that Taco Bell would deliver a better taco. And of course Taco Mama and Chipotle and a host of genuine Mexican restaurants would serve better food. I haven't tried the tacos at Beef O'Brady's but they cannot be worse than these. The service was average at best. I sat at the bar for five minutes before being noticed and served the wrong beer. I would love to see this restaurant be a huge success, but good Lord you've got to give a damn about what you're doing. Why on earth would anyone come to this place when there are so many other places to get tacos and beer? Places where the ingredients are fresh and the people care about what they are doing? I am being generous and giving the establishment two stars because I know it is getting started. I really hope they improve. read more

Having moved from SoCal to AL the struggle is real. Finding Mexican food in Alabama that's not Tex Mex. The tacos here catch the fresh and vibrant flavors I love. Much closer to "home". Everything had good flavor, just a few texture issues. I'll give them another try. Though, I was not a fan of the Rice Bowl for texture reasons, but it was better when I ate it with chips. I am a fan of the Burritos and Tacos. Their portion size of Tacos are small, but the Burritos are huge. The Rice bowls are just the contents of the burrito's without the tortilla (they could use some crunch). You have to order Chips separately (IMO chips should come with the rice bowls at least). I heard the Chicken Soup was a family recipe, but I didn't try it. I wish they had Quesadillas. The Staff is super hands on and very welcoming. The Patio area is very open and cute.
