I decided to come here on a Saturday because I saw on their website that they had happy hour every day from 3 PM to 6 PM. To my dismay when I got there and asked the server about the happy hour specials he told me that they stopped doing it on the weekends. I was a little disappointed. I ended up getting a frozen espresso that was very delicious. The elite was yummy as well. I got some sort of a steak bowl however, the steak was a little chewy. It's right in the downtown of Homewood where there's other restaurants around as well. There is plenty of free parking. The restaurant is decorated very nice and the bathrooms were very clean. I'm definitely gonna come back here during the week so I can enjoy happy hour. Justin was our server and he was fabulous!

I have to admit when I first visited Social Taco was when it first opened, and I really wasn"t impressed. It was expensive and you didn't get a lot of food. The only reason, I went back was because we won a gift card at a fundraiser. My recent visit was totally different! It was a great experience and I'm really glad I gave Social Taco a second chance. I started the night off with their strawberry coconut mocktail. It was amazing!! Next we ordered a side of the charro beans as an appetizer to dip the chips in. I highly recommend doing this. The combo was great. We also ordered the Mexican street corn as an appetizer. We thought it would be off the cob, and were planning to also use it as a dip with the chips. But, it came out as four cobs. It still was really good, but I was glad we ordered the beans. For my main meal, I ordered the Grilled Cheese Al Pastor Pork Tacos! So delicious. My favorite part was the grilled cheese crusted corn tortillas and the grilled pineapple. The pastor pork, was also good with the cilantro, onion & smokey morita salsa. I can't wait to go back!

I came here recently with a friend for happy hour. When we got there, it was a line. However, it moved by so quickly and we were told we would have a small wait. The hostess was very nice and courteous. So we went to sit at the bar. Our bartender was super helpful and made great recommendations. So we gave up our table and stayed at the bar. We ended up ordering drinks and food. We ordered chicken feathers, Mexican pizza with steak and loaded street fries. The food was great. Each order was a great amount of food for the price. The fries were so good and while they were loaded, it was the right balance. The Mexican pizza was packed with flavor, but not overwhelming. It was also light and not thick. It almost felt like one huge steak taco. It was so good and definitely the star for me. The chicken feathers were also well seasoned. The margaritas were also good and strong. They pack a nice punch! I really enjoyed my visit and need to make it part of my regular happy hour rotation.

My friend and me came to Social Taco to check out their happy hour (on a Friday). We arrived with like 30 mins left before happy hour ended. I'm soooo glad we spotted two seats at the bar as it was going to be a 30 min wait for a table. No thanks. Happy hour would have been over by then. Hannah was our server at the bar. She did an amazing job in getting our space cleaned off and taking our drink/ food orders within the HH window. We started with chips and salsa. I really like how crispy their chips were and the salsa was the perfect thickness and flavor! We ordered house margaritas to drink . They were ok. I prefer frozen margaritas so I ordered a strawberry frozen marg. for my 2nd drink and it was enjoyable and more tasty. We ordered 3 HH apps..... chicken feathers , asada Mexican pizza and loaded fries. The portions were perfect for sharing annnnnnnd we even had leftovers to split. My favorite of the three was probably the loaded fries. The Mexican pizza lacked flavor and the chicken feathers (chicken bites) were almost burnt. Overall , this was worth the visit. Great service, great value, good food , cold drinks ! Definitely one of the better HH in town!

Not my cup of tea when it comes to Mexican food. Their street corn was strange . I was not aware Mayo was Mexican. And so much seasoning I could not enjoy the corn. Thankfully they gave us plenty of napkins for wipping. Unfortunately we were seated at that one 2 top by the restrooms and waiter station. So I can't say much about the ambiance as I had my back to everything. I ordered a steak burrito without rice. When I got it it was mostly black beans with about 2 Oz of steak rolled it a tortilla. I am not impressed by their food or pitiful beer selection.

    Blood orange pomegranate margarita. Phenomenal.

The happy hour here is awesome! 1/2 price apps and drinks from 3-6 daily. The blood orange pomegranate margarita was my favorite but we also got queso, quesadilla nachos, spring rolls, elote, and ranch water! Tons of other options on the menu sounded great, too. There is a parking structure attached to the building that was super easy to get in and out of and saved us from trying to search for street parking. Overall the food was fine, but the ambiance of sitting outside on a beautiful day having great drinks is what made our experience so nice. Also, with happy hour pricing we got 4 apps and 6 drinks for about 60 bucks. That's hard to beat.

Go go go to the bottomless tapas!!! The server was great! Food came out very fast. Server was very open about encouraging us to order as much as we wanted. The food was FANTASTIC! 30$ for tapas and 40$ for tapas and mimosas. Try the Bloody Mary too! Ambiance is fun and upbeat!

Great food selection! This was my first time here so I had to mix and match tacos. I had the Al Pastor, BWB chicken, and Pescado. All were good, but to do again, I may do two Al Pastor's. It had a wedge of pineapple that added some really good flavor! I had the Guac and my side was elote! The elote may have been my favorite. Perfectly cooked and just the right portion, highly recommend this. Service was quick! I was a party of one during a non peak time, but I was amazed how quick my Guac and tacos hit the table. Ambiance was fun. Very much wish I was there at night to see the vibe of this place. If I'm back in town, I'll definitely make this a place for dinner!

"The Menu Has Changed"... Service: A- (shouldn't have to ask for a drink refill but polite staff) Food: B- The old menu was better... (carne asada was tough and dry, street corn is AMAZING, the burger is a different take on your average "burger") Alcoholic Drinks: C+ (Dinks here tend to be hit or miss but are usually on the heavy pour side which makes life better) Cleanliness: B (Tables still look dirty even after being "wiped down" but regularly swept floors) Atmosphere: B- (Well themed but seating is cramped and uncomfortable) Overall Impression: For a local "Tex-Mex restaurant" that isn't a chain, Social Taco is impressive in its own right. Food and flavor is light years ahead of other local restaurants and you get the feeling that the staff really is customer focused. Some nights seating can be at a premium but there is a host stand as soon as you walk in vs having to seat yourself.

Three words... BOTTOMLESS. TAPAS. BRUNCH. Social Taco just started their bottomless tapas brunch and yall it is my new go-to for brunch. For just $39 you can have unlimited mimosas and as many tapas as you want! I was so surprised by how many food options were on the menu but what I wasn't surprised about was how good it was! The birria ramen was out of this world but the meatballs were a table favorite. We ordered a lot of food but we will definitely be going back to try everything we didn't get a chance to! It's such a good deal and the food is phenomenal. We sat outside so it was nice and relaxing and the service was great. The food arrived quickly!

elote shrimp quesadilla fried fish taco complimentary chips and salsa guac and crema
    Azka A.

A bit disappointed in our last visit! We adore this place and come pretty regularly on Tuesdays for the tacos; did the same this week and was met with a new menu that has gotten rid of fish entirely, higher prices, and smaller portions. The tacos we got here were so sad looking and the tortilla was cold, not to mention the lack of filling compared to how they used to be. The fries and eloté were great as always, but am unsure if we will frequent ST much more given that we can't eat any of the other proteins/the only one we can eat that is still served (shrimp) has increased in price and lowered in quality.

    Tablitas

This has become my go to solo spot! I love the chips and salsa, tablitas and margaritas. It's a very simple place and you cannot beat the happy hour prices! I love that they do happy hour on the weekends until 6pm. I like the TVs at the bar as well to watch sports. Very clean, best-friendliest bartenders and the food has always been great!

In fact, I'm getting warm feelings right now just thinking about my time here. Their vegan option is a nopal taco (tender, marinated cactus). It's excellent, but what makes it next level is that SALSA BAR with the best salsas I've ever had. It reminds me of taquerias in California. I drowned my taco in all of the sauces. In fact, I could probably be happy eating tortillas and salsa here. Because, yes, the tortillas are that delicious. As is that guac. Again, some of the best I've ever had, gimmicky tableside guac included (never felt that was such a great thing anyway). Here, you get a generous portion of the creamiest quality guac you can imagine. I can't report on the margaritas other than to say they look gorgeous. The wine pours are also generous and the prosecco is damn good.

You can add onions, limes, cilantro and pickled onions and pickled jalapeños as well as sauce. They had a Verde sauce as well as regular salsa, and a Salsa Borachja sauce with onion, garlic and Mexican beer. It was spicy and delicious. They have plenty of counter seating, a few tables inside and several tables outside. This is a tapas bar more than a testaurant.

The line really didn't seem long enough for the wait to order but that could have been a customer causing the delay. When they are busy it would be helpful to have more than one person taking orders. We had hoped to find some seating on the patio since it was such a pleasant evening but most everyone else had the same idea and there was not any available tables. Once we ordered it did not take long for our chips and queso to arrive followed soon after by our entrees. They actually offered us a second tray of queso & chips due to an order mix up (we think it was actually supposed to go to a nearby table). The El Matador Margarita (premium white tequila, Patron Citronage & pineapple juice) was good and could have easily been happy with another or even a pitcher. I opted for the Guacin' on Sunshine (shrimp, black beans, pineapple pico, cilantro ranch & guac)) & Tan Lines (mahi, pineapple pico, cilantro, ranch & fresco cheese) tacos and my wife chose the Reef 'n Beef bowl (steak, shrimp, tomatoes, rice, black beans, roasted corn, onions & cilantro ranch). I had requested no guacamole but it came on anyway and they also went overboard with the onion for my wife's bowl. Otherwise everything was good but not as incredible as I was expecting. If it was closer to home, we still would likely at least pick up regularly and we will definitely plan to come back when my daughter & her husband come back in town.

Clad in mine stained Batman doublet, whose hood-strings I had gnawed as a beast gnaweth bone, I entered that place seeking meat for the belly and balm for the soul. Verily, the aroma of roasted meats and spices rose up as incense before the altar. I spake unto the servant, saying, "Give me the fajitas and the queso, and suffer not the margarita to pass me by," and they did minister unto me with speed and kindness. The fajitas sizzled upon the iron as though the very fires of the pit had been brought forth, the meats tender and full of savour, the peppers and onions yielding up their sweetness. The queso flowed like unto a river of mercy, rich and warm, and when I dipped the chips therein, it coated mine tongue with comfort. The margarita was cold and strong, refreshing the spirit as dew refresheth the morning grass. All things were made fresh, even as the scripture of their kitchen declareth. Yet as I ate, the old wound opened. In the year of our Lord two thousand and seven, upon spaghetti night, mine father took his gym bag and spake, "I can do this no more," and departed, leaving a child of nine winters clutching a scratched Batman figure at a cold table. The door slammed, and he returned not, neither called he upon any day thereafter. Thus I sat in the booth, rocking gently to and fro, and the good food of Casa Fiesta filled the belly but could not wholly still the cry of the fatherless. I am a broken vessel, a man-child unworthy of such bounty, drifting from table to table in search of that which was taken from me. Nevertheless, five stars I render unto them, yea, five stars and more. For in that house the meats are seasoned with care, the service is swift as the wings of angels, and for a season the emptiness doth draw back. I shall return again in mine same garments, to eat of their fajitas and drink of their margaritas, and to let the sizzle speak peace unto the part of me that yet waiteth by the door.
