    Chicken street tacos
    Benjamin S.

Sysco food, gourmet prices. My wife and I stopped in for lunch, and there were more servers present than patrons. We were seated and served quickly, and the staff was friendly. The inside was clean and well decorated, with TVs on the wall. I am of the mind that the chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant have to be delicious. La Paz's was passable. The chips were thick, and my wife and I agreed the salsa tasted like Pace with cilantro and lime added. See the picture and judge for yourself. We both got street tacos; I got the pork, my wife got the chicken. I give my pork tacos a passing grade, and the chicken tacos a fail. The chicken looked and tasted like the pre-cooked, slightly rubbery stuff you can buy at the supermarket. The slaw seemed to be pre-shredded from a bag with lime juice added. Despite being one of two couples there, we didn't get a refill on our waters. Other than that, the service was fine. I'd love it if this place were better, or cheaper, or both, because it's so close to where we live. But frankly, I'd drive further and pay more for better food. I don't think we'll be back.

In the middle of the Ross Bridge neighborhood, it's convenient if you live there or close to there. There were only 4 tables total when we went for lunch and what looked like 1 server and 1 manager. The server was friendly and kept busy since she was handling the tables mostly on her own. The chips were not thin like Chuy's. The salsas were okay. We order the enchilada and the fish taco from the lunch menu. I didn't like their enchilada at all. Ate less than half and tossed the rest. The rice was nothing special. The bean....was sour? I actually asked about it, and the server doesn't know why it's sour, but she assured me it's not because it has gone bad. I wasn't really reassured. The fish taco was decent, and likely we would order it again should we come back. However, whether we would go back is pretty debatable with all the better options in town.

    Chicken Quesadilla. Delish!

My husband and I ate here on our way to our next destination and we are very upset there isn't a location in New Orleans where we're from. We've been talking about it since we ate there. The SW chicken Caesar salad is the best salad I've ever had and the queso dip was delicious! 10/10 restaurant! Highly recommend. Please open a location in NOLA

The restaurant ambiance is relaxed and casual. The location is ideal for residents who live in the Ross Bridge neighborhood. Service was good on Tuesday night; we were seated promptly and service was okay. I was a little disappointed that there were no Spanish speaking servers. I was hoping to have some simple conversation. Chips and salsa (green and red) were served after we were seated. The green salsa was thin but had a little spiciness to it. The red was okay, but nothing special. Honestly, I thought it tasted like Tostitos Chunky Salsa that you can buy in the grocery store. For my entree I ordered the pork tamales. The tamales were not what I expected. The pork is not rolled inside the mesa (tamale corn dough). Instead the tamales are plain mesa and then topped with pork, red sauce, and cheese. I thought the pork had a nice flavor, but the mesa has no soul. And the tamales seemed to harden and I had to add salsa to give them some life. My wife ordered fajitas and they looked good. She thought they were okay, but very overpriced at $24.00. Other than the convenient location I probably won't be back.

One place came up, and at first, we weren't sure if it was open, but we walked in and immediately felt good vibes. No TVs, just hip R&B and Funk music, with a beautiful L-shaped bar and friendly bartenders Chloe and Ian. The menu is minimal, offering tapas and small plates, but that's because everything is made in-house and is especially good. We started with a House cocktail, the Pear & Proper, which is magnificent. Then we ordered the Wedge salad, and it was divine. After that, we shared the Red Wine Braised Short Rib, which melts in your mouth--their signature dish. We finished with an espresso Martini and some great Calamari. This has become our new FAVORITE. Must try!!!

My drink was tasty, it was their version of a lemon drop. My friend got the whiskey sour and she was upset at the size... it was pretty tiny. My entrees was very delicious but it came out lukewarm. Beef and potatoes should be served stemming hot. Also the portion of the mashed potatoes could have been a bit more generous. The burger girls were ok with their choice, no frill there. This spot has an extremely limited food menu, so it's not a place I'd frequent but it's definitely worth a future return!

I got a marg ($8) and the baked pimento cheese dip to start - served with pita. ($7) I loved my pan seared scallops with grits and broccolini. The cranberry bacon "jam" really adds so much flavor and create the perfect bite when you add all components together. ($34) Dad and David got the meatloaf and loved. It comes with house made BBQ, potatoes and broccolini. ($28) Perfect for when you want to go to an upscale meal but still have to make your man happy - this is literally a "meat and potatoes" dish. Mom got the Paneed chicken with brown butter sauce, mashed potatoes and spinach. She had no complaints! ($28) Service was very friendly and parking was no issue at all! This is a perfect place for a big group because there's something for everyone. It's casual, comfortable but still feels on the upscale side of things. We will be back!

The food was absolutely phenomenal, we had gotten the oysters and biscuits and gravy as our appetizers. We had the benedict and the brunchtada as our main entrees and my favorite was definitely the brunchtada! Had the right amount of spice and the flavor was all there. I think the only downside for me may have been the gravy for the biscuits, a little more on the sweet end for my taste.

It was about 30 minutes away from my house so I was indecisive if if I wanted to drive that far for food. This place is located in like a mini mall there weren't many cars out in the parking lot and they really weren't that many people inside. But you could tell there's regulars there because when we walked in they were like we don't recognize them lol It is not table service you order at the cash register what we used to call it. They do not have Coke products. They only have Pepsi so I ended up just getting a water. My son got a sweet tea that he liked. He started off with a beer, cheese dip, and that came with pita bread and chips. The server threw some toast and that was really good too. I ordered a cup of the French onion soup and it was delicious. I also ordered the Quattro (Four) cheese flatbread. My son ended up getting the spark burger with mac & cheese. He was dazzled by the burger, but not so much the mac & cheese. I ordered a water. He ordered a sweet tea. I had to ask for a refill for him and I never got a refill for my water. They really weren't a lot of people there so it wouldn't be hard to refill drinks. There is a bar there with a bartender it might be better to sit there so you can get more attention It was definitely a 70s 80s theme in there. In the bathroom, they had a cassette box with real cassettes in there. I really did like the decor. And they do have several TVs in there to watch sports. I'm not sure if I'll be back or not

I was very surprised to learn that they sell soda by the bottle and about a 16 ounce soda is three dollars apiece which I found to be a little overpriced. We were there during happy hour, and we got spinach, dip, and Parmesan fries with garlic aïoli, which was delicious. I got the chicken Parmesan and it was delicious. A very good serving and I brought some of it home. I got the brookie as a dessert and that was equally delicious. Happy hour is from 4 PM to 5:30 pm during the week. The bathrooms were very clean as was the dining area. When you walk in, they do have some ready-made food for you to bring home and also some salad dressings. We sat by the window, which was very nice. If I do go back, I'll probably just stick with water or sweet tea.

After being seated in the bar area, we were informed by our server that only appetizers were available. This was both confusing and disappointing, as it does not align with reasonable expectations for a restaurant still open for regular business. If the kitchen is no longer able or willing to prepare full menu items well before closing, that policy should be clearly communicated--either through adjusted hours or by informing guests upon arrival. Otherwise, it creates the impression of inconsistent operations or a lack of coordination between management and staff. Situations like this suggest a need for clearer operational standards, better communication, and stronger staff alignment with customer service expectations. Guests should not feel discouraged from dining simply because they arrive within what should be standard service hours. Overall, the experience reflects an opportunity for improvement in both management practices and customer hospitality.

I'm giving them 5 stars because they're doing a 5 star job at what it is they're doing. Let me be clear....this is a dive bar/biker bar located in what most people would consider a very bad part of town. They keep the door locked and you have to knock and someone will let you in. I'm not sure why this is, but I suspect its to keep the nefarious types who may linger around in this part of town from barging in and causing trouble. It's a popular place for bikers. Like old guys with motorcycles who drink whisky and shoot pool. They do a bit of kareoke in there, they've got a few pool tables, a jukebox, and a tv or two so you can watch a game if one happens to be on. Drinks are ridiculously cheap...but don't go in thinking you're going to get Johnny Walker blue, or Don Julio. I believe Old Forrester was the top shelf, but hey...you order a Manhattan, and you drink it. It costs half of what it would anywhere else. Definitely a neighborhood place, with a neighborhood crowd. But the handful of times I've been here everyone was as cool as could be. Best beer in the house is Guinness, so don't get all snobby about your beer. This is the kind of place where you go in and fit in to what they're doing. Don't try to make them adapt to you. Its an experience. Go for it. A dive bar/biker bar in a seedy part of Bessemer. Get out there. Live the adventure. Meet some bikers. You'll be glad you did. Again, not 5 stars because they're a top of the line fancy place. I'm giving 5 stars because they're doing great at what it is they do.
