I have been going to El Patron for years because it is one of the best Mexican Cuisines I have experienced. You can either order carry out on the phone or sit down and be served. I was greeted and seated immediately during lunch hour, and it was not too busy. The vibe of El Patron is very laid back and casual, and they have colorful Mexican style decor everywhere. They brought us chips and salsa right as we sat down. Their menu has different categories like steak selections, lunch deals, and appetizers. I ordered cheese dip and Guacamole Casero (guacamole with onions, cilantro, jalapeño, cilantro, tomato, lime) as our appetizers. When it came to the entree, I ordered the steak burrito. The food all came very quickly and it was very fresh and flavorful. The steak burrito was massive, tender, and juicy and the vegetables in the guacamole were bursting with flavor. Yes I am African American and felt it here! On Christmas Eve I ordered over the phone and she told me it would take 10-15 min. There had been times in the past that I've got there right at 15 minutes and my food wasn't the warmest. So, tonight I arrived just before 10 mins after the call. I pulled up to the window and noticed a number of employees moving around the drive thru area. After about five minutes I noticed that no one had acknowledge me. I also noticed a Togo meal that had been sitting on the counter from the time I got there. I sat there for at least another 6 to 7 minutes when I noticed a lady come out the restaurant to see if there were any cars behind me, which at the time it wasn't. I want to say at least 15 minutes had passed before I was acknowledged but by this time there was a car behind me. The young lady that took my money was very unwelcoming. I asked why did it take so long and she said that there was no bell to let them know that someone was on drive thru. When I told here that plenty of the workers saw me and said nothing, she then told me that she was on the phone taking an order. I tried not to make a deal of it but already noted everything, paid and pulled up. I noticed the car behind me didn't wait at all which prompted me to check the temperature of my food. Mind you by the time the car behind me pulled up there food had been sitting next to mine for less than 5 minutes. Also my food was a little warmer than room temp. Like I could place my hand on the bottom of the aluminum container it was in and feel no discomfort what so ever. I could place it in a toddler's lap and they'd be ok. I went in to make a complaint and get a refund. Both people at the register placed their hands on the plate and told me that it was hot and I wasn't getting a refund. Long story short, I argued respectfully against the plate being warm and ended up leaving without a refund, apology or my food because it just wasn't edible. I've never been made to feel so foolish and unwanted at an establishment ever. I was mocked and toyed with. For instance, when I was inside the young lady grab my food from the pay counter and walked to the bar and sat it there. Whole time I'm still at the pay counter waiting on a response. After a couple minutes she says to me again while I'm standing at the pay counter that I won't be getting a refund. I asked why did she move my food away and her response was I was supposed to follow her but I just stood there. I then responded how was I to know what to do when no one says anything. At that moment the second employee storms off as if I'm being a nuisance. Mind you I've been in the restaurant complaining for about 5 minutes at this point. I usually like El Patron, but I ordered a taco salad via DoorDash and when I got the taco salad it was swimming in liquid and I also ordered a iced tea that I never got. DoorDash gave me my money back on this, but I cannot believe that El patron would dare send out a salad, swimming in liquid like that they would be no way to eat the crisp tortilla shell, because it was nothing but mush. Fast, friendly service. Great food. Comfortable seating. I never feel rushed to eat and leave when the restaurant is super busy like on Friday nights. We always have freshly warmed chips and savory salsa immediately upon being seated and are asked for our choice of beverage immediately. Never a wait. He loved every bite. I had the Burrito Deluxe which consisted of one beef & bean burrito and one chicken & bean burrito topped with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and ranchero sauce. Great establishment! We rolled up at 130ish on a Saturday and the parking lot looked full. We found a spot and went in. We were greeted and seated within a few minutes. The decor is really bright and fun! Our server was also excellent, she checked back frequently and refilled our chips/salsa a couple times. We ordered 2 kids meals and 2 flaming cheese lunch specials, mine with Shrimp, his with steak. We are both on a modified diet so we subbed beans and rice for guacamole salad. They are becoming my favorite Mexican restaurant. Normally, I order taco salad, which is absolutely delicious. Tonight I stuck my neck out and ordered something new. I had spaghetti and it was great, if not better than the taco salad. My spaghetti was topped with shrimp, peppers, and beef. Actually, it was better than I anticipated. When I got home with the meal, was still piping hot. Their service was great and they were actually playing Mexican music. All of the employees I encountered were helpful, and very knowledgeable. I went on a Saturday night & it was very busy with a wait. Once seated, we were waited on immediately & the environment was very pleasant with nice Mexican-themed decor. Our server was shy, but very friendly & working several tables. If ordering an alcoholic drink from a minor server, you will have to wait until a legally-aged server can bring it to you. Super flavorful, very fresh, family friendly, quick service, and kind employees! - really fresh chips, good salsa, & good cheese dip - Street tacos are the best you can find in this area. We had carne asada, pollo asado, al pastor, & steak & chorizo. They were great!! We did ask for the hot sauce to go with them & it was very good. Place has really began to slide in the last six months. I should know as when they opened were great. We are there three times a week. Not so good now. They have shrunk the food portions. Queso con carne is now hit or miss. A miss of late. Fewer shrimp in the shrimp quesadilla. I asked for refill on tea today as it is hard for me to eat without something to drink. No refill had to seek it out. Spinach dip I half the size it was not long ago. They are mostly friendly but it fails to make up for the new level of service and food they feel is "acceptable".
